It's certainly been a while since you've all heard from me, hasn't it? I've got plenty of excuses, but none are particularly important.

The good news is that I got a nice camera for Christmas and the new semester just started in school and I'm taking photography! This means that I should be able to get some good pictures, and much more often!

And because it's been such a long hiatus since my last post, I'm going to post a few pictures from Instagram, and you guys can pick which ones you would like to see in more detail in a future post. You can choose as many as you want, or none at all (my feelings won't be hurt).

Sorry about the lack of good shots! The event was a few weeks back, and we thought we'd be able to get more pictures from the O'Neill Girls website, since one of their photographers pulled us aside and took pictures of us because she liked our outfits (which was the COOLEST THING EVER)! It seems like they're not putting them up though, so I scrounged up what I could find.

This was my first fashion event, and it was so amazing! It was a fashion show by Teen Vogue and O'Neill Girls, who held a design contest in the spring where a teen girl in California could design a line with O'Neill, and the winner would get their winning dress sold at O'Neill! I actually made it into the competition, though I didn't get very far, and since I'm a Teen Vogue It Girl, I was invited to the show! It was like a huge party inside. Ashley and I got some free hair products from Paul Mitchell and we got to make our own flipbooks! I made a gif of the flipbook, which you can see above. Then we got to see the show, which was awesome. The new host of Fashion Star hosted the event and a few celebrities (including Lauren Conrad!) sent some wetsuits down the runway that were auctioned off later.

This song always reminds me of fall, even though she says the hills are covered in snow.

Oy vey. I hope you guys like this look, because I went through a lot to show it to you! I was originally going to photograph it a few weeks ago, but I spilled some blue nail polish on the sweater, and it took ages to get it out. So I got ready this time, but I couldn't find a good place to take the shots. You see, my back yard isn't very flat. It has a retaining wall and a hill on top of that, which makes it pretty hard to set your phone down to take a picture.

Everywhere I tried either only got the top or bottom half of my body! In front of the stairs? Bad lighting. On the hill? Kept slipping (plus I found a wasp nest. Yikes!). In front of the tree? Seemed like a good idea, until I almost tumbled down the hill! Then I tried to climb onto the little playset on our yard, but it was made for someone much smaller (AKA six years younger), so I just tried to make do with what I got. Also, do you guys realize how hard it is to try and take a picture of the back of your head? I figured that since Oasap was nice enough to send me that skull hair tie, I should at least get a picture, but I kept completely missing my hair and getting shots of the sky.

Olive hates being ignored, so she also insisted on having her photo taken. She's definitely feeling festive, but I'm not sure if I'll be dressing up tonight. I'll probably just stay in and watch Girl, Interrupted one last time before Netflix gets rid of it.

Speaking of Netflix, I need some recommendations. Any shows or movies you'd suggest?

There's something about leather that makes you feel really cool. You feel like you can rap like Busta Rhymes and do hip hop like you're a character on Dance Academy, when you really rap more like Nicki Minaj and dance more like Finn Hudson. At the same time, this feels a little hipster-ish to me, which is pretty much the complete opposite. I think it's the beanie.

In other news, I turned 16 last week! It doesn't feel any different, except now I feel bad about being too lazy to finish drivers' ed.

Do you like those posts? Personally, I enjoy seeing what other people bought but since you are the readers, your opinion is equally (if not more) important.

Monthly Must-Haves: August

Everyone seems to completely change their favorite colors with the seasons. Personally, I like brights and pastels year-round. If anyone knows where I can get an inexpensive blazer in a similar shade to the ones above other than Forever 21, I'd be thrilled if you could share it with me! The button-up is somewhat expensive (after all, it is from J.Crew) but I think it would be worth the price as it's fairly versatile. The skirt is pretty cheap, and I've been really wanting one like that lately, since it is still too hot to wear pants here. It does get cold at night though, so I'd like to have a printed or peplum jacket to take with me when I go out. Look at those gloves! They're so cute. I still don't have any gloves (well, unless you count the giant pair of Mickey Mouse ones...) and I think it's time that I got a pair.

In other news, I got back from Disneyland yesterday! I had a great time with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. We met Tiana, Belle, Rapunzel (and Flynn Rider!), Ariel, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Merida, and many other characters including some of the bears from the Country Bear Jamboree. I'm pretty sunburned, but it was worth it. I really don't like the changes since the last time I was there though (over 8 yeaers ago). Ariel's grotto was gone, and the additions of Jack Sparrow (and other characters from the Pirates films) to Pirates of the Carribbean and the 30-something Disney characters to Small World just seemed a bit unnecessary. Maybe it is just because those were the things I remembered best about my past trips to Disneyland, but they made me a little sad.

Product Review: Chic Confections

As those who follow me on twitter know, about a week ago Chic Confections sent me some cute bows to check out!

I got one headband and one clip. Both stay in my hair very well, and they're both really stylish.

Fisayo runs the accessory company. She is a fifteen year old entrepreneur. How impressing is that? For someone so young, her website is done extremely well. Another thing that was great: the quality! Both pieces are sturdy and well-made. Fisayo sent them out quickly and the packaging was sturdy yet cute.

July Monthly Must-Haves

Happy late 4th of July!

This month, I'm going more for fun things than basics. Those shoes may not be versatile, but I want them! Lately, I've been really pining for shoes. I mean let's be honest, I've always loved shoes but recently I've been obsessed with them! The scarf is cute too. I don't have many (except for thick wool ones), and the print has another accessory I'm loving: sunglasses! Those who follow me on Polyvore know that I've been stocking up on those.

I've been wanting to get out of my comfort zone with lipsticks lately. Pinks are just getting a little boring. What do you think of this color? As for the necklace, it is a little similar to one that I already own, but I think it looks more old fashioned, which I like. I was thinking about ordering two, and DIYing one like Geneva did (twice). The skirt is pretty too! I think I could wear it a lot of different ways, and it definitely won't be out of style any time soon.

For Your Amuse-mint

Sorry for the pictures all being in my room. I was running out of time (I take a while to get ready) so this was my only chance to get some shots in. My room is a mess because this was taken while I was in redoing it and building and moving furniture (exciting!). Keep your eyes peeled for a before and after soon!

I love this dress! When you spin, the best floats up around your sides. The fact that it is as soft as (if not softer!) than a t-shirt doesn't hurt either.

Funny story about the flats: Olive chewed them up. The entire front was ruined! I was so sad, because they're my favorite pair of flats. Luckily for me, that same day, I saw a post on pinterest on DIY cap toes. The mint nail polish managed to cover the little holes, and they're good as new!

I'm still not sure how I managed to survive this long without any white jeans. The other items on my list might not exactly be as much of a necessity as white jeans, but I think we can all agree that they're pretty cute! The maxiskirt is such a pretty color, and the blouse is even brighter in person. Those apple-print shorts are adorable, and with the leopard loafers, I'll have some great printed pieces for summer. The lace necklace is versatile too, so I can get a lot of use out of it.

I Need a Phone Case

One of the best things about having an iPhone is being able to customize the case. Now, I love cute cases as much as the next girl, but I can't be the only one having all of these problems with mine!

The first case I got was Lilly Pulitzer. I thought to myself, Lilly is a good brand! This case will be great! And, well, it was. That is, until the print started peeling off.

When I got my next one, I thought I would go for a hard case instead of a rubber one. I found a cute Kate Spade one on eBay that I really liked. The thing is though, I'm a total klutz. I drop things all the time, and my phone is no exception. My current case is breaking, and I don't know how much longer it will last.

Does it look like "kony" to anyone else? My friends say it does and not gonna lie, it kind of makes me love it a little less.

Do any of you guys know of any rubber cases where the pattern doesn't peel off? Is it just something I should get used to?

Also: Does anyone here have a J. Crew case? I've been thinking about one of those next.

I just really need to work on this class right now. On the bright side, I'll be done in 8 days, and I should be back to posting regularly then.

Pastel the Truth {Everybody, Everywear}

It was raining all day today, except for about a ten minute break. I didn't know how long it would take, so I had to get these all done quickly, and I had to pose in the back yard. The rain started up again before I was even done! On the bright side though, trampolines get extra bouncy when they're wet. You guys like my toe touch?

What's In Your Make Up Bag?

This week's blog hop is about the contents of our make up bags. These are what I've been using lately.

This is the Too Faced palette. It is for sale for $36 at Sephora. I use it a lot, and my brother likes to smudge it all over. Hence, the smeared colors. I almost always use "Classic." It comes with three cards that show you how to apply each of the three rows of eye shadow.

Urban Decay liquid eyeliner. I think I might be the world's only girl that can't use pencil liner? Anyone else? No? This is my favorite. I wear it absolutely every day! It sells for $18 at Sephora.

This actually came from Dollar Tree! The brushes it came with were bad, but if you use your fingers, you'll like it. It is actually surprisingly pigmented and I like how it gives me a lot of options.

Day 2 Night Rimmel London mascara & Korres primer. The mascara isn't like it appears to be. It is just one wand, but Rimmel acts like it is 2. Don't be fooled! It still is the best mascara I have though, so maybe I shouldn't complain. The primer was a free sample from Sephora.

Monthly Must-Haves: April

Somehow, I skipped March?

Anyway, here is what I want this April. This month is going to be different. This month, I'm going to actually try to get them, not just pine over them!

1. A peplum shirt. I've seen some cute ones at Forever 21, and H&M seems to be popping them out like there's no tomorrow! I like this one, but realistically, I'll probably get a more neutral one.

2. White oxfords. I've liked them for a while, in that wow-those-are-cool-but-i-cant-pull-them-of kind of way. From now on, I'm going to try to find a way to make something work if I like it enough. Since the only white shoes I have are vans, it would be great to get something cuter.

3. Hot pink jeans. Colored jeans are super in again this spring. I had some hot pink cords that I got rid of last year because I thought they made me look like a scene kid (and since I pretty much only wore "Adventure Time" t-shirts, it looked like I crawled out of Hot Topic). Total regret! I also want some royal blue ones, but I'll save those for later.

4. White blazer. I just got my first blazer a few days ago (its navy!). I don't know how I managed to last so long without this staple. White is great for spring and summer.

5. Collar necklace. I really like these, and I think the one I have now is just too much to wear as much as I'd like to. I really wish I could find some cheap ones; If you know of any, let me know!

By the way, it was just a fabulous coincidence that the stuff coordinated so well.

I stayed home and did some schoolwork and took some outfit shots out in the woods by my house. Unfortunately, no one can find the plug to upload them! Murphy's Law, I suppose.

I also tried a sock bun. It worked okay, but it was a little lopsided.

This was day 1 of the photo challenge, which was self portrait day.

People who know me know that I spend waaaay too much time on my iPhone. I also spend a ton of time shopping. Combine the two, and you'll end up with some serious debt. Unless of course, you buy good quality things at a low price.

That's where Poshmark comes in. The app is free, and the loot is fab. I've bought everything from scarves to belts to skirts to shoes to fur vests, and nothing has been over $20! It is as great way too add to your closet or sell things that don't get much wear anymore.

Even though I couldn't be there tonight in Austin, I'll still be there virtually. Luckily for you guys, I'm going to part with a cute dress of my own. See if you can find it! My username is @SmallTownFab

Black & White, All Night {3/3/12}

Sorry, iPhones don't have timers on the cameras, so I have to hold the phone, and my pictures turn out like this.

Anyway, yesterday was great! I got sushi for the first time in forever, and Alexander actually tried some.

Olive update: I think she might be a parrot. I took this picture mid-bite!

She also learned how to walk down the stairs and use the dog door!

Meet Olive!

As you may remember, in my February monthly must-haves, I mentioned how I would be getting a pug soon. Two days ago, we got Olive.

Olive is the sweetest thing ever.
We almost didn't get her! Originally, we were going out to look at two boy pugs, but no one wanted to drive 2 hours with only one place to go to. I emailed two other breeders, one who had two fawn girls and a boy, and the other with three black girls. We called the one with the fawn pugs, and she told us we could meet her. The next day, we drove out there with the intention of seeing the girls first (the breeder was just bringing her two girls to meet us) because I wanted a girl to dress up. We waited 30 minutes, but when the breeder didn't come, we left to go to the other place. The breeder called us, apologized, and told us she'd be there in a minute. At the same time, the second one texted me telling me that both boys had been adopted. As soon as we saw Olive and her sister, we fell in love. The rest, as they say, is history.

And her name? When we started driving, my brother noticed that the mountains were covered in olive trees. Livvie also has an adorable heart shaped birthmark on her tail ("Olive" sounds like "I love" if you have an accent, and they're anagrams)
