Does raising the minimum wage help?

The government raised the minimum wage 70-cents, up to $5.85 today. Who does this help? I say it hurts more than helps.

Hiring workers is no different to a company than buying goods. If the price for that product is to high, you will buy less of it.

The workers that this effects (minorities, teens...) are the very same people this law is supposed to help. Is the boss of that company going to take a pay cut, or is he just not going to hire as many people, cut back on hours, layoff employees, halt expanding the company or a combination of them all?

You force someone with no experience or with skills that are worth less than the minimum wage, to not offer their services at a lower than minimum wage limit.

The typical person making minimum wage is not the head of household, trying to support his/her family. They are teens and part-time workers. If raising the minimum wage is such a good idea why not raise it to $50, $100 or even $200 an hour? Wouldn't that get everyone out of poverty?

The government should abolish the minimum wage and let the market decide the wage. It really is that simple.

After the tragedy at the Virginia Tech campus, I know the anti-gun critics, namely Rosie O Donnell, will bombard us all. I can see it know, Rosie goes on a 2-3 minute rant on the View, almost breaking into tears on how something must be done about the gun laws in this country.

Would stricter gun laws have prevented this from happening? No! You cannot protect everyone from the few that are intent on doing harm. Congress will feel the need to react to this tragedy. Will it help? No! They will only create new laws and cost taxpayers more money. There is always going to be bad people who do not play by the same rules as everyone else and who do not value human life. It is our constitutional right to protect ourselves from these people. Stricter gun laws will only hurt the people who abide by the laws, essentially only taking the protection away from us and giving the power to the few.

It is a proven fact that the crime rate in states that allow concealed handguns are lower than those that do not. Virginia happens to be one of those states that do allow concealed handguns, but as I stated earlier, you cannot protect everyone from the few. If the college allowed concealed handguns on campus, would this have prevented this from being as big as it was? Did so many people have to die or could that one concealed hand gun carrier prevented some of the death's? Possibly. But we will never know.

Who is the real racist?

We all know by now the stupid thing that Don Imus said on his show that led to him getting fired (by the way, if you are a listener of his show, you would know that was not the first stupid thing the man has ever said). Is the man a racist? I'm not sure. What I do know is that he apologized for what he said, no matter how ignorant of a comment it was. Those girls’ lives were not ruined; they can still play basketball and live their lives.

The real racists in this is not Don Imus, it's the Rev Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton demands an apology from Don Imus, but where is the apology for the Duke players that were charged for rape by a black female and Sharpton took her side from the beginning and even after the charges have been dropped, Sharpton still has yet to set the record straight.

Has anyone forgot the Tawana Brawley case? The black girl who accused a district attorney of rape. A grand jury later determined her story was a hoax, which didn't sway Sharpton from saying the man was still guilty of the crime by stating, “We stated openly that Steven Pagones did it. If we’re lying, sue us, so we can go into court with you and prove you did it. Sue us—sue us right now.” Pagones did sue, and won. To this day Sharpton refused to apologize for his public comments that Pagones was a rapists by stating, “I did what I believed… They are asking me to grovel. They want black children to say they forced a black man coming out of the hard-core ghetto to his knees….Once you begin bending, it’s ‘did you bend today?’ or ‘I missed the apology, say it again.’ Once you start compromising, you lose respect for yourself.”

How about the "Central Park Jogger"? The white woman that was raped in central park and claimed the rapists was black. Even after confessions from the black defendant, Sharpton claimed the man was innocent and the white jogger was a "Whore!". He also stated that the jogger’s boyfriend was the guilty one. He protested in front of the courthouse with others chanting, "The boyfriend did it!" A man (not the joggers boyfriend) was found guilty of the crime. Any apology from Sharpton?

So let's review shall we. Sharpton seems to take the side of blacks no matter the evidence and then refuses to apologize once the truth is revealed.
I think we all can see who the real racist amongst is.
