The former president told the Mexican newspaper La Jornada that there were moments of great injustice against the gay community.

The 2010 hurricane season’s seventh system became a tropical storm around 5 a.m. yesterday a few hundred miles off Africa’s west coast, and though far away in the Atlantic Ocean right now, could become a large hurricane, according to the United States’ National Hurricane Centre (NHC).

If it continues on its present path and strengthens along the way, the islands of the Lesser Antilles could possibly have to deal with the first major storm of the year."

Gonsalves: Outsiders in St Vincent politics

The Trinidad Guardian: "Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves is accusing two US businessmen of engaging in a smear campaign to destabilise his Government. This is allegedly taking place before announcement of an imminent general election there. In an open letter, dated August 24, and sent to Caricom Heads of Government and other Caribbean nationals, Gonsalves said the smear campaign involves the Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP).
According to Gonsalves, the US citizens, Dave Copps, a dot.com millionaire, who owns Pure Discovery Corporation, and Blake Burris of Dynamo Labs are working with the NDP to make false claims about St Vincent and the Grenadines. He said Copps owns a house in Bequia, one of the St Vincent Grenadines, and worked previously for the Pentagon, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Gonsalves said they have mounted a campaign called “Save Democracy for just $5.”"

'I totally Facebook stalked them,' the fashion merchandising student admitted after moving some of her belongings into her four-person residence suite.
'I was anxious to find out who they are, what they're like. I think they all look like nice people.
'I don't know if it made me more nervous or less nervous to know. Who knows if we're going to get along, if they're going to like me.'
Jordan, who has lived in Barbados her whole life, is like most first-year college and university students. This is her first time away from home on her own.

Shot attorney dies at hospital

Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday "ATTORNEY Nofritari Montrose, 38, who was shot in her head two weeks ago outside her Arima home, succumbed to her injuries early yesterday morning while at hospital. Investigators have labelled her death as an “execution” and are calling on members of the public to assist them in the investigation.
According to a police report, at about 5 am, Montrose died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
It was reported that on August 16, Montrose had just driven into her driveway at Pro Queen Street in Arima and was in the company of her nine-year-old son, when two gunmen approached her.
A police report stated that the men shot her in the front of her head and as she turned to run off, they fired another shot, which struck her in the back of her head. The men ran off, leaving the boy in a state of shock.

The Bahama Journal "Bridgwater and Lightbourne are accused of conspiring and attempting to extort $25 million from Hollywood actor John Travolta following the death of his son, Jett.
Bridgewater is also charged with abetment.
Sixteen-year-old Jett suffered a seizure and died at his family’s Grand Bahama vacation home in January 2009.
The Bahama Journal understands that the move is reportedly being taken due to the fact that Travolta is reluctant to reappear as a prosecution witness.

Bibi Fizal Tulsie, one of the victims, said the men made their way into the house after removing a few paling staves from the back fence and unscrewing a light bulb from under the house.
The woman told this newspaper that she and her 17 year-old daughter were in the kitchen preparing dinner when they were confronted by six men.
“I de frying plantain in de kitchen with me daughter and these men come in…one ah dem had a knife, another had a gun, one had a scissors and another one had a piece ah wood.”
The woman recalled that the men tied her up with duct tape, and her daughter was forced to lay face-down on the floor.
