Remote Web Desktop is Acquired by 3CX

Remote Web Desktop has been acquired by 3CX and renamed to 3CX DroidDesktop. The app is now completely free and will continue to be maintained by 3CX. Here is the new home page of 3CX DroidDesktop: http://www.mobiledevicemanager.com/3cxdroiddesktop/.

I would like to thank all users for their continued support. I am really sorry that I can't solved the bugs in time and no new feature added in recenly months, because I am busy in taking care of my baby.

Ad Blocker Removed from Google Play

I am sorry to tell you that Google removed my Ad Blocker and all ad blocking apps from the Google Play store due to “interference with another service or product in an unauthorized manner.”

The following are the main updates for Remote Web Desktop from 5.7.6 to 5.8.2 1.

1. Screen capture on unrooted phone
   Now non-rooted user also can take screenshot of your phone. You need install a capture service to your phone through USB connection. I have added a new section " Install Capture Service for Non-Rooted Phone" to the usb connection guide.

   BTW: the capture service is come from another free app named "Screen Capture -No Rooting 2.2". But the guide is not good, and the dev seems stop support it. After install this capture service, you also can take a screenshot by "Screen Capture -No Rooting 2.2" on phone side.

2. Notes shortcut
   You can make a shortcut on phone home screen for any text file on the sdcard. It's easy for you to make a notes.

3. Partial support MMS
   You can create a MMS message from web desktop, but the final send action still need to be finished on phone side because of Android OS limit.

It's the best browser I have ever used on Android phone and it is free! The interface is clean and the light green design looks very comfortable. The features I like best are the gestures and tabbed browsing. I can quick open my favorite sites just by draw a simple gesture and I can switch my sites quickly by click the tabs which is much easier than the default browser.

I sincerely recommend it to every Android users.

Prank Expert enable you to attach a popup "ghost" (scare picture with scream and vibrate) to any popular game or app (such like Angry Birds). While player playing the attached game for a while, the "ghost" will pop up suddenly to scare the player.

***IMPORTANT***
Please notice that it's an invisible app that you can't find the icon on the phone desktop after you installed it. There are 2 ways to launch it:
1. Dial '#000' (may not work for some phones).
2. Long press the empty area of home desktop, and select the 'Invisible Ghost' widget from the 'Widget' menu. Then you can click the widget icon to open it. You would better remove the icon from Home screen after you finish the management.

USB Connection Guide for Remote Web Desktop (MAC & Linux)

Thanks a lot to AsmerM and his friend Mirzar help me develop the USB connection tool for Linux and Mac. I have tested it on my MAC, it works perfectly. The following is the guide on MAC, it should be similar on Linux, but because I don't have a Linux environment, so I can't make a screenshot for it.

Download ADB Tool

Please click the following download link to download the ADB tool and USB driver, and extract it to your local drive.

Turn on USB Debuggin on Phone Side

Go Menu > Setting > Appliations > Development, and turn on "USB debugging" option:

Connect Remote Web Desktop through ADB Tool

Open Remote Web Desktop on your phone side, specify a port (e.g. 8999) for it.
Click 'Start Server' button to start the Web Desktop server. And it will show status text such like 'Open http://xxx.xxx.xxx.x:8999 in browser'.
Connect your Android phone to your computer's USB port.
Open Terminal app
Run cd the adb_mac or adb_linux folder, you need specify the full path of adb_mac, such like "cd /Usrs/John/downloads/adb_mac/"
Grant permission 777 to adb and connect.sh files (only need at the first time), you can run
"chmod 777 *.*" under the ad_mac or ad_linux folder
run "./connect.sh 8999", 8999 is the port set in Remote Web Desktop on phone side.
If you get this error: "Device is not connected or USB debugging not enabled", please turn on USB debugging on your phone side (Setting > Applications > Development > USB Debugging), and re-connect the USB line.
It will open the default browser and visit the RWD through http://localhost:8999

Install Capture Service for Non-Rooted Phone

Connect phone to computer with USB.
Open Terminal app

Grant permission 777 to adb and install_cap_service.sh files (only need at the first time), you can run
"chmod 777 *.*" under the ad_mac or ad_linux folder
Run "./install_cap_service.sh" to install capture service
You will get prompt message like the follwoing shot, then you can close it and un-plug your USB line. Of course, you also can keep the USB connected, I just mean it can work without it.
Login Remote Web Desktop, open Screenshot window, you can take screenshot for non-rooted phone now.
Please notice that you need reinstall capture service agagin if you restart your phone.
