Autodesk BIM 360 biedt altijd en overal toegang tot B&U- en GWW-projecten

Autodesk, heeft Autodesk BIM 360 gelanceerd, zijn ‘next generation software’ voor Building Information Modeling. Autodesk BIM 360 omvat een pakket cloud-diensten dat BIM-projectinformatie altijd en overal toegankelijk maakt, ongeacht de fase waarin het bouwproject zich bevindt. Autodesk BIM 360 werkt naadloos samen met de BIM-oplossingen voor ontwerp, constructie en uitvoering, waaronder de Autodesk Building Design Suite en de Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite.

Met Autodesk BIM 360 brengt Autodesk BIM de cloud in. De nieuwe cloud-based services maken multidisciplinaire samenwerking mogelijk door een vergaande afstemming van modellen en de uitwisseling van intelligente objectdata te faciliteren. Zo zullen civiel ingenieurs, ontwerpers van transportinfrastructuren en stedenbouwkundige ontwerpers bijvoorbeeld profiteren van het feit dat teams die op compleet verschillende locaties zitten met Autodesk BIM 360 concepten kunnen bekijken, offertes kunnen maken en aanpassen en haalbaarheidsstudies uitvoeren.

Onlangs kondigde Autodesk de overname aan van Vela Systems, een leverancier van BIM-bevorderende oplossingen die gebruik maken van de cloud en mobiele technologieën. Met de acquisitie van de producten van Vela Systems breidt Autodesk zijn portfolio van cloud- en mobiele producten uit en vergroot het zijn mogelijkheden op het gebied van Building Information Modeling (BIM) nog verder.

Met de lancering van Autodesk BIM 360 bereikt Autodesk een nieuwe mijlpaal in zijn Autodesk 360-programma. Autodesk 360 is erop gericht de kracht en de omvang van de cloud aan te wenden om ontwerp, visualisatie en simulatie te optimaliseren.

Revit LT & SmartRevit LT

SmartRevit LT is het ideale platform voor de beginnende BIMmer. Volledige Revit functionaliteit en de nieuwste SmartRevit bibliotheek staat u ter beschikking voor het ontwerpen van een bouwkundig en/of constructief model. BIMmen start of valt bij een goed ingedeeld 3D model. 3D modelleren is dus altijd de eerste stap. Itannex heeft voor u de ervaren docenten waardoor u BIM-wise leert modelleren.

Little BIM of Big BIM?

Revit LT is zeer geschikt voor “Little BIM”; een aanduiding voor primair 3D modelleren met als doelstelling een volledige coördinatie tussen tekeningen en hoeveelheden. U kunt met Revit LT samenwerken met andere partijen. Van “Big BIM” is sprake zodra er meerdere personen, intern of extern, simultaan aan het ontwerp werken. U kunt wel deelnemen aan een gezamenlijk project; u modelleert daarbij uw eigen aspectmodel dat vervolgens door de andere teamleden gelinkt kan worden. De modellen die u maakt met Revit LT zijn 100% compatibel met de reguliere Revit producten. U kunt dus eenvoudig van Little BIM naar Big BIM doorschakelen.

Voor wie?

SmartRevit LT is geschikt voor ontwerpers en tekenaars van bouwkundige projecten, inclusief hoofddraagconstructies. Evenzo is Revit LT geschikt voor werkvoorbereiders; vanuit oogpunt van aantallen + materiaalstaten én communicatie naar toeleveranciers of onderaannemers. Voor uw calculatieteam is Revit LT eveneens waardevol: naast het zelf kunnen samenstellen van uittrekstaten (en overnemen in Excel) kunt u ook merken en coderen.

Voor wie niet?

Revit LT is niet geschikt voor MEP-projecten. Dat wil zeggen dat u er bijv. geen leidingen mee kunt modelleren, uiteraard wel verlichtingspunten en wandcontactdozen. Revit LT is ook niet geschikt om er civiele- of infra-projecten mee te modelleren vanwege de specifieke vormgeving en wapening.
Presentaties en tekeningen
U kunt met SmartRevit LT uw tekeningen dezelfde uitstraling meegeven als met de reguliere Revit, hier zijn geen concessies! Uw ontwerpen zijn tevens geschikt voor Cloud-Rendering omdat de SmartRevit – en Autodesk Materiaal bibliotheken geïntegreerd zijn in SmartRevit LT. Bovendien kunt u het ontwerp ook met andere software renderen via bijv. FBX export.

Wat is Webfeed

Een webfeed is een alternatieve, versimpelde weergave van online inhoud.
Een site plaatst zijn inhoud, vaak in een verkorte of beschrijvende versie, in een online bestand: de feed. Met behulp van een feedreader kun je de feed vervolgens lezen. Door meerdere webfeeds, van verschillende aanbieders, te verzamelen, kun je bijvoorbeeld in één oogopslag al het nieuws én alle nieuwe weblog-berichten overzien. De feedreader werkt de feeds op periodieke basis bij, bij een nieuw item wordt de gebruiker meestal met een melding op de hoogte gebracht. Vaak hebben sites meerdere feed-kanalen, bijvoorbeeld één voor het algemene Autodesknieuws, en een feed voor Revit nieuws.

De Voordelen:

De modelleur bespaart het surf- en zoektijd: als er nieuwe inhoud is, krijgt u automatisch een melding.
De modelleur krijgt snel een overzicht van informatie uit zijn interesse-gebied.
De inhoud wordt in een simpele vorm aangeboden, met een link naar de volledige inhoud. Zo kan de gebruiker sites met een vaak complexe navigatiestructuur vermijden.
Webfeeds hebben geen last van spamberichten. Niemand kan ongewenste berichten naar een feedreader sturen. De gebruiker bepaalt van wie hij/zij berichten ontvangt.

Elk cijfer vertelt een verhaal; wat vertellen jouw gegevens?

Isolated Foundations

Isolated Foundations zijn Families die deel uitmaken van de structurele fundatiecategorie. Er kunnen verschillende soorten Isolated Foundations uit de bibliotheek ingeladen worden, met inbegrip van poeren met/zonder palen, rechthoekige palen, ronde palen, schoorpalen, damwanden etc.

Deze objecten zijn rechtstreeks op stramien te plaatsen of onder constructieve kolommen.

Voor beide geldt, dat er na het selecteren van de kolommen of stramienen met Finish moet worden afgesloten. De meest intuïtieve wijze van roteren is met behulp van de spatiebalk. U zult merken dat deze toets ook direct de juiste as-uitlijning aanneemt. Dit geldt overigens bij ieder enkelvoudig plaatsingspunt. Zelfs bij bogen! Daarnaast kunt u tijdens het plaatsen kiezen voor de Rotate after placement-optie:

SMARTScan uw BIM project

De SmartScan tool wordt ook weleens vergeleken met een zwitserszakmes. Er zitten heel erg veel mogelijkheden in.

Het 3D-model bestaat uit dynamische intelligente objecten. Het object weet van zichzelf wat het is en reageert op andere objecten en andere objecten reageren op het object. Dit zorgt er voor dat bij wijzigingen alle objecten waarop deze wijziging invloed heeft reageren en dit allemaal in de databank bijgehouden. Om alle informatie goed te kunnen opvragen en aanpassen in uw bimproject zit er in SMARTRevit de SMARTScan

De belangrijkste mogelijkheden zijn:

Objecten invoegen ten opzichte van een ander object
Parameters wijzigen
Hernummeren van onderdelen
Meer informatie bekijken van objecten
Schema's maken, exporteren naar Excel
etc

Indien één van de functies van SmartScan wordt geactiveerd zonder selectie dan vraagt de Tool met welke categorie men wil werken.

Indien men al een object geselecteerd had in het project en de de Tool wordt geactiveerd dan is de categorie van de selectie actief. Het scherm waar men vervolgens komt, noemen we het Basisscherm van SmartRevit

Met de Selection Tree, Boomstructuur, kan men bepaalde selecties doen.
Bij Configure Grouping kan men inregelen wat de Selection Tree weergeeft en in welke volgorde. Onderin kiest men de disciplines, bovenin kiest men de parameters
In deze tabel zijn alle geselecteerde elementen zichtbaar. Via kleuren worden bepaalde dingen duidelijk:

Geel komt vanuit Configure Grouping en is niet aanpasbaar.
Wit komt vanuit Select Parameters en is aanpasbaar.
Rose elementen zitten in een Linked File en zijn niet aanpasbaar in het huidige bestand.

Met de Dynamic Section Box wordt de 3D-View aangepast met de Section Box zodat de geselecteerde elementen zichtbaar worden.

Select Category; geeft de mogelijkheid van Family Category te wisselen.
Soms wil het weleens zijn dat men even wil terugkeren naar de Revit View. Dit kan met Adjust View; men kan Pannen, Zoomen en Orbitten. Het is echter niet mogelijk te wisselen naar een andere View. Door willekeurig ergens te klikken of door Escape komt men weer terug in SmartScan.
Met OK wordt het scherm afgesloten en worden eventuele wijzigingen doorgevoerd.

Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Parallels to this concept can be drawn with the electricity grid, wherein end-users consume power without needing to understand the component devices or infrastructure required to provide the service.

Bij liggers binnen Revit zijn een aantal instellingen mogelijk die het gedrag van een ligger beïnvloeden. Het is noodzakelijk om een helder beeld te hebben van de mogelijkheden en vooral de eigenschappen van liggers. Zoals reeds eerder genoemd koppelen liggers zich automatisch aan constructieve elementen.

Revit is een pakket dat ontwikkeld wordt in de Verenigde Staten. In Nederland hebben we een andere constructieve opbouw in constructies dan in de Verenigde Staten. Door deze verschillen in constructies is het gedrag van elementen zoals liggers opmerkelijk te noemen.

Revit heeft de mogelijkheid om te exporteren naar rekenpakketten. Wanneer een model incorrect is opgebouwd, moeten binnen het rekenpakket alle knooppunten worden nagelopen en/of gecorrigeerd. Bij een correcte opbouw binnen Revit is een export, en daarmee de samenwerking met andere pakketten, veel zinvoller en efficiënter.

Revit maakt gebruik van analytische lijnen. De relaties en verbindingen tussen deze lijnen vormen het uiteindelijke analytische model. Binnen Revit wordt een analytisch model opgebouwd aan de hand van alle constructieve elementen. Dit analytische model wordt gebruikt voor het berekenen van de constructie.

Alle constructieve elementen binnen een Revit Model zijn voorzien van deze analytische gegevens. Belangrijk is om zich bewust te zijn van deze gegevens wanneer elementen worden geplaatst of wanneer constructieve elementen gewijzigd moeten worden.

Een ligger heeft een analytisch begin- en eindpunt en een grafisch begin- en eindpunt.
Wanneer een ligger wordt geplaatst bij een kolom wordt deze ligger automatisch gekoppeld aan de kolom. Door de constructieve opbouw uit de Verenigde Staten wordt er een ruimte van 12.5 mm vrijgehouden tussen de liggers en een constructief element.

Hieruit kan opgemaakt worden dat, mits dit niet door de gebruiker is of wordt aangepast, de grafische lengte (Cut Length) van een ligger afhankelijk is van het element waaraan de betreffende ligger is gekoppeld.

Wall Foundations

Wall Foundations zijn fundaties die worden gehost door wanden. Deze kunnen zowel in een 2D- als 3D-View geplaatst worden. Wall Foundations hebben altijd wanden nodig om geplaatst te worden. Eenmaal geplaatst blijven zij ook bij hun host. Het plaatsen kan door de wanden stuk voor stuk te selecteren, een Multiple Selection te maken of door middel van Tab een Chain of Walls te selecteren.

Deze Wall Foundations kunnen gebruikt worden voor stroken/balken-fundaties. Hier zijn 2 types beschikbaar. Deze zijn opgedeeld in het constructieve gebruik, namelijk: Bearing of Retaining.

Kiest men voor een strook/balk met als Structural Usage: Bearing, dan heb je standaard een strook/balk, waarbij je de afmetingen als breedte en dikte kan opgeven. Deze wordt default onder de centerline van de wand geplaatst. Eventueel kan men na het plaatsen kiezen voor een excentriciteit. Deze excentriciteit kan maximaal (1/2 strookbreedte - 1/2 wanddikte) bedragen.

Kiest men voor een strook/balk met als Structural Usage: Retaining, dan heb je een strook/balk, waar bij je een en kunt aangeven ofwel een hak- en teenfundatie (heel= hiel = buitenzijde, toe= teen = binnenzijde). De breedte van deze strook wordt door Revit bepaald. Dit is de som van de heel + de wanddikte + toe. Deze wordt default onder de centerline van de wand geplaatst. Eventueel kan men na het plaatsen kiezen voor een excentriciteit. Deze excentriciteit kan maximaal (1/2 strookbreedte - 1/2 wanddikte) bedragen.

Let bij deze fundatie op de benaming die je het type geeft.

Zoals eerder vermeld, hebben Wall Foundations wanden nodig. Nu kan zich de situatie voordoen, dat een balk/strook door moet lopen terwijl de wand al is beëindigd. Men kan hier kiezen voor 2 oplossingen.
Geef bij de Type Properties van de balk/strook een Default End Extension Length op. Deze verlenging wordt dan standaard bij dit type aangegeven.
Men kan ook aan de Dragpoints van de fundatie gaan trekken en zo de fundatie verlengen. Kiest men voor het verlengen met de Dragpoint dan is men veel vrijer met betrekking tot strook-balklengte.

Een andere eigenschap die men aan/uit kan zetten binnen de Type Properties is Do Not Break At Inserts. Deze functie is bedoeld wanneer men openingen in de wanden plaatst. Indien deze functie uitstaat wordt de strook ter plaatse van de opening onderbroken.

The Business Value of BIM

This SmartMarket Report presents findings from research conducted in 2010 about how architects, engineers and contractors in Western Europe (defined for the purposes of this report as the United Kingdom, France and Germany) are adopting, implementing and deriving value from BIM. It also provides comparisons to findings from similar research conducted among North American companies in 2009, published in the McGraw-Hill Construction Smart-Market Report, The Business Value of BIM: Getting Building Information Modeling to the Bottom Line. The 2010 research reveals both commonalities and distinct differences between BIM in Western Europe and North America. For example, although BIM adoption—defined as the percentage of companies reporting some use of BIM—is currently higher in North America than in Western Europe, the adoption process has been underway longer in Western Europe. As a result, the level of implementation—defined as the percentage of a BIM user’s projects on which BIM is used—is generally much higher than in North America.

The Navisworks File formats

Autodesk Navisworks has three main file extensions: NWD, NWF, and NWC. NWC files are cache files containing conversion data only (that is, they contain the relevant data necessary to convert the CAD file into the Autodesk Navisworks format). NWC files can be exported directly out of supported CAD applications, including Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit and 3ds Max; Bentley MicroStation and Graphisoft ArchiCAD.

By default NWC files are also created automatically whenever you read a CAD file into Autodesk Navisworks. This will actually speed up the process when next opening that CAD file (provided that it hasn’t been modified),as the cache file can be used. This is especially noticeable when you are opening a project containing tens or even hundreds of CAD files.

This brings us to NWF files, which are reference files and contain no geometry. They contain pointers back to the original files that you open and append together plus anything you do with the model in Autodesk Navisworks.

It is recommended to save a master NWF file for your project once you’ve appended all of your CAD files.
Subsequent opening of the NWF will then re-open each file. Actually, it's a little more intelligent than this. It
will check to see if there is a corresponding NWC file and checks whether the CAD file has been modified since last converted. If it has, the CAD file will be re-read and re-cached. If it hasn’t, the cache file will be used, speeding up the loading process.

Finally we have the NWD file format. This is a complete data set, containing all of the geometry and anything you do with the model in Autodesk Navisworks. It is highly compressed, and can be secured with password protection. The NWD file is the recommended format for sharing the entire project with all stakeholders, enabling individual disciplines to see how their design fits within the overall project. NWD files can be reviewed in the free viewer, Autodesk Navisworks Freedom 2011, or if you need to add markup and carry out full analysis of the project, then a full Autodesk Navisworks product may be used.

NavisWorks: Interference Detection

Everyone likes to believe what they’ve designed is perfect, yet why then are there so many change requests submitted once a project is under construction? One reason is that although individual component parts may be perfect and error free in isolation, when they come together in a collaborative environment, the issues are all too common.
Let’s face it, buildings are complex! It’s no wonder we have conflicts between disciplines. Autodesk Navisworks enables you to combine the various disciplines, from disparate sources, into a single model environment. Clash Detective can then be used to identify any potential conflicts between the disciplines, givingyou the opportunity to resolve these while the project remains in the digital stage. The potential savings in time and money are obvious. (Click View tab ➤ Workspace panel ➤ Windows drop-down ➤ Clash Detective.)

The best advice for defining clash tests is to search for clashes where you would expect to find them. Let Clash Dective help you, not replace you. If you try searching the entire model for everything that touches something else, you will be inundated with false positives items that are meant to touch. If, however, you define clash tests based on your real-world experiences of where things go wrong, and don’t fit on site, then Autodesk Navisworks can help you find and resolve these quickly.

Mouse over the Clash Detective window and pin it open.
The Select tab is where we define our clash test. There is a Left and a Right side, both containing an identical copy of the Selection Tree.
Under the Left and a Right sides, you will see the tabs Standard, Compact, and so on. Scroll these to the right and select the Sets tab (for both Left and Right).

In the Left tree, select Supply Air System.
In the Right tree, select Structural Framing Steel.
The Run Type should be set to Hard, looking for physical intersections between items on the left and items on the right.
In the Clash Detective window, click Start to perform the clash test.
Five clashes should be found. Now let’s review these results
Go to the Results tab and click Clash 4.

You will be automatically zoomed into the clash area, however, you may not have a clear view or you may have objects (like the ceiling) obscuring your view. Use the Orbit tool to move around the clashing objects to find a preferred viewpoint. In the Display group, select the Dim Other option to gray out all other objects.

View range in Revit

View range of underlay
You want to know how the view range (primary range and view depth) of an underlay is determined.

A cut plane is not used to determine the view range of an underlay. Instead, any object that overlaps the underlay range is displayed in its entirety. For example, if you set Level 1 as the underlay, the resulting underlay range extends from Level 1 to Level 2. In general, an underlay does not replicate the contents of any other view

View range Slab

You set the view range so that it cuts above a floor or slab in a plan view, but the floor or slab was still visible.

A floor or slab will be visible in a plan view if it is partially above the view depth, or if it is within 4 feet (approximately 1.21 meters) of the bottom clip.

To prevent the floor or slab from being visible in plan view, you need to adjust the bottom clip so that it is more than 4 feet above the floor or slab and set the view depth so that it does not include any part of the floor or slab. Follow these steps:

In plan view, click View menu / View Properties.
Click the Edit button for the View Range parameter.
Enter a value for both the Bottom Offset, under Primary Range, and the Level Offset, under View Depth, that is more than 4 feet from the floor or slab

Last week the Roombook Extension for Revit Architecture 2011 was released to the Subscription Center. This was previously only available for German customers (applicable for their VOB measurement standard) and has now been updated for an international audience. The description from Subs Center:

"The Roombook Extension helps calculate the surface area of walls, floors and ceiling elements, room circumferences and the total number of furnishing elements within a project. In addition to the automated detection of room areas and surfaces, this extension helps users configure these elements manually to local requirements, as well as achieve more accurate model take-offs. Quantified results can be exported to Microsoft® Excel® software and Autodesk® Quantity Takeoff (QTO) software."

In essence this extension allows you to quantify materials beyond what is possible in the core Revit product, for example applying height reductions for specific materials and manually applying materials to sub-areas.

Wist u dat er bijzonder veel informatie te vinden is in de SMARTRevit Helpfile. In deze helpfile staat in het nederlands omschreven hoe u bepaalde onderdelen van Autodesk Revit moet gebruiken. Maar ook staat omschreven hoe de SMARTRevit tools werken. Tevens is de Revit werkmethodiek omschreven. Hierin komt bijvoorbeeld aan bod hoe men een project opstart, vervolgens gaat samenwerken met anderen zonder dat dit problemen op gaat leveren verderop in het proces.

Met SmartDimensions kan men versneld maatvoering plaatsen op Views. Daarnaast kan het ook kettingmaatvoering in één keer plaatsen en meerdere maatvoeringslijnen met elkaar joinen.
SmartDimensions is opgedeeld in elementmaatvoering en wandmaatvoering. Voor beide is er ook een configuratiescherm waarin instellingen kunnen worden gedaan en kunnen worden opgeslagen.

Ga naar de configuratie voor elementmaatvoering Element Dimensioning Configuration onder de SmartDimensions Tool.

1. Naam van de configuratie.

2. Configuratie opslaan als.
3. Configuratie opslaan.
4. Configuratie hernoemen.
5. Configuratie verwijderen.
6. Hiermee worden de verschillende onderdelen per discipline zichtbaar: Architectural, Structural en Mechanical.
7. De naam van de categorie.
8. Wanneer deze kolom wordt aangevinkt, wordt die categorie meegenomen in de maatvoering.
9. Hiermee wordt de maatvoering op de buitenste vlak van het element geplaatst.
10. Hiermee wordt de maatvoering in het hart van het element geplaatst.
11. Deze functie geldt voor doorsnedes. Indien het vinkje aanstaat, zullen alle elementen worden gemaatvoerd die op het Level zijn geplaatst. Indien het vinkje uitstaat zal de Tool de onderdelen maatvoeren waarover de lijn wordt getrokken.
12. Met deze functie kan de huidige configuratie geplaatst worden in de View.
13. Hiermee wordt de configuratie afgesloten; de instellingen blijven behouden.
