Wired.com posted an interview it conducted with Miyamoto in which some new information regarding Super Mario Galaxy 2 was revealed. Mainly that the story this time around would be a "light" one.

Unlike last year's no show, there is some great Mario news at this year's E3.

Here is a quick rundown.

Wii

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been announced with one of the biggest additions being that Mario can ride Yoshi.

A surprise announcement is a Wii version of New Super Mario Bros, which will feature four player co-op action.

Already announced was Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games.

Nintendo DS

The only real Mario announcement for the DS is the third entry of the Mario Vs. Donkey Kong series Minis March Again.

There will also be a DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games.

And those are the Mario E3 announcements. If there is any more news, it will be posted here.

Sega has announced Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for both the Wii and DS. Both versions are scheduled to be released later in the year.

Mario Power Tennis For Wii

Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe has announced they are developing a remake of Mario Power Tennis, released in North America for the Gamecube in 2004. New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis is scheduled for a release in North America in March of next year.

Shigeru Miyamoto revealed in an interview with Stephen T0tilo the possibility of a second Super Mario Galaxy title: Of course, as is customary with Nintendo, it’s very rare that we are able to announce any games until they’re ready for release, but I can say that these are themes that both of those teams are taking into account and the hope is that for both of those franchises, when we do release the next installments of the “Zelda” [franchise] or maybe the next “Galaxy,” hopefully they will feel newer and fresher than their most recent versions.

The third installment of the "Mario & Luigi" series tentatively titled as "Mario and Luigi RPG 3" is slated for a release in 2009 on the newly revealed DSi. The DSi will be released in North America in 2009.
