It looks like the government boffins at TENAA got things a little wrong as the Oppo R5 has officially launching in China with a body measuring only 4.85mm.

It was rumoured that Oppo would be launching a thin phone along with the Oppo N3, and here it is! The Oppo R5 is now the worlds thinnest Android smartphone beating the previous record holder, the Gionee Elife S5.1, by almost 1mm.

So TENAA go the measurements wrong but the rest of the hardware seems spot on. The processor is a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon 616 octacore, there is 2GB RAM and the dsplay is a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 model.

Oppo R5 launch video

The R5 gets a 5 mega-pixel front and 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 2000mAh battery and VOOC fast charging. Oppo will launch the phone in China first with TD-LTE support only (so watch out if you plan to order one) and will offer the phone in silver and in a limited edition gold.

Chinese pricing for the Oppo R5 is 2999 Yuan which is around $490

The OnePlus One has been a roaring success and so a 2nd generation phone is on the cards, with it’s own OnePlus developed ROM.

In an interview with Chinese tech sites speaking about the impact of the OnePlus One on the phone market, Pete Lau CEO of OnePlus also spoke about what is in the future of the Oppo funded company.

Lau confirmed reports that OnePlus are building their own ROM development division to create a OnePlus Android ROM (Android+ ?) and went on to say the the 2nd generation OnePlus smartphone would ship with that ROM.

Currently the Chinese version of the OnePlus One comes with Oppo’s ColorOS, while the international model has CyanogenMod as standard. The development of their own ROM would help the brand to further distance themselves from Oppo, and would allow them more freedom. It is unclear if the new ROM would see the end of CyanogenMod for future OnePlus devices.

The interview goes on to say that OnePlus have managed to be profitable this year, with internatoinal daily phone sales counting in the 1000’s.

Xiaomi rumoured to be cutting prices of Mi4 to $260

11th November is Singles day in China, a day to celebrate being by yourself and buying something nice. Each year Taobao, Tmall and others work together with manufacturers to offer special deals and price cuts for one day only.

In the past the limited sales have seen record profits, so not being one to miss a trick Xiaomi will be reducing the price of a number of their products including their flagship Xiaomi Mi4.

Two versions of the Mi4 will be available during the 1 day sale, the 2GB 3G only version of the Mi4 is rumoured to be getting its price slashed to only 1599 Yuan, while the 3GB RAM, 4G LTE version will cost slightly more at 1799 Yuan.

Although sales are for the Chinese mainland only, international resellers might also take advantage of the sales to bring similar price cuts.

One of the reasons for that is the massive success they had raising money on the crowdsourced fund-raising site, Kickstarter. Thanks to the unique concept of “profiles,” Bluetooth enabled products do not need to install driver software.
Bluetooth wireless technology is the leading and only proven short-range wireless technology on the market today shipping over five million units every week with an installed base of over 500 million units at the end of 2005.

Source : http://www.asus.com/products
Read More http://www.asus.com

Asus

Here is the new From Asus Wireless . this wireless include hardisk built in.This is THE router for the avid software/TV/music/movie pirate. Not that we'd condone such behaviour. Just sayin'...
The ASUS WL-700gE includes a 160GB 3.5" hard drive as well as a BitTorrent client that can keep those downloads going while your PC is switched off.

The hard drive is easily user-upgradeable... just pop the lid of the case, and install like any other drive. The only catch is that the router software is on the hard-drive, not in ROM, so you'll have to clone the contents of the supplied hard drive onto a new hard drive before installation.

Because the Bittorrent client is actually embedded in the wireless router, the BitTorrent transfers don't go over WiFi, which means your WiFi LAN speeds won't be compromised by heavy P2P traffic.

You can also order "home delivery" of Bittorrent files when you're at school/uni/work, according to ASUS's marketing materials. "Tell the WL-700gE what you need to download from a system at the office or school, and when you get home, all the downloaded files will be safely organized in the WL-700gE."

The hard drive is also shared as a home file server and can stream videos to Viiv PCs wirelessly.

But, as Tim Shaw used to say on the famous Demtel ads, "but wait, there's more!"

The router also has three USB 2.0 ports for connection of additional external hard drives, or a USB printer. You can also plug in a USB memory stick, press a button, and have the contents of the stick automatically saved to the hard drive.

Amazingly, you can connect a standard USB webcam into the router and turn it into an IP camera that can be accessed from any internet connection.

It also acts as a wired router, with four ethernet ports on the back.

Sourece : http://apcmag.com/3875

Read More at : www.asus.com

BIO Statement: BIO Urges FDA Release of Risk Assessment on Animal Cloning

Launch of Animal Clone Registry Program Addresses Market Concerns

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 19, 2007) -- Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) Executive Vice President for Food and Agriculture Sharon Bomer Lauritsen today issued the following statement on the newly launched tracking program for animal clones:

“Today, the leading animal cloning companies introduced an animal clone registry program that will track livestock produced through cloning. With this new registry program in place, BIO encourages a timely release by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the final risk assessment on the safety of foods from animal cloning. Our industry believes the tracking program will help to identify animal clones and address market concerns when the voluntary moratorium on the use of cloning for commercial food production is lifted.”

“The biotechnology industry has a long history of promoting stewardship and responsible use of its technology. The animal clone registry program demonstrates the technology providers’ commitment to facilitating future market needs. While companies have thus far voluntarily taken steps to keep animal clones and their offspring from entering the marketplace, BIO believes that when cloning technology is available for commercial food production, this tracking system will help promote a wider variety of choices in the world’s food supply and support smooth trade transactions in the agricultural community.”

“BIO applauds its members, leading cloning companies and program developers ViaGen and Trans Ova, for their efforts and believes this system of animal food product management will provide farmers and ranchers with access to the full range of assisted reproductive technologies, while still meeting food retailer demands.”

“Livestock cloning is the newest assisted reproductive technology that allows farmers and ranchers to use the best genetics to produce healthy animals, and therefore provide consumers with consistent, healthful and safe food products. Using the tools of biotechnology to produce desirable and healthier farm animals is not a new practice. For decades, livestock producers have used genomics to improve the health and efficiency of animals that provide healthy and nutritious meat and milk. In December 2006, FDA published a draft risk assessment that determined the milk and meat products from animal clones and their offspring are as safe as products from conventionally-bred animals.”
BIO represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and 31 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.
Learn about the Animal Clone Tracking Program at CloneSafety.org http://www.clonesafety.org/cloning/scm/

Article Source : http://www.bio.org/news

What is Mesothelioma

What is Mesothelioma ?

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos In this disease, malignant cells develop in the mesothelium , a protective lining that covers most of the body's internal organs. Its most common site is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and chest cavity), but it may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity) or the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart ).
Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or have been exposed to asbestos dust and fibre in other ways, such as by washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos, or by home renovation using asbestos cement products. Unlike lung cancer, there is no association between mesothelioma and smoking

Article Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma

Did you read about Mesothelioma article?
did you know about Mesothelioma?
New advanced technology in Mesothelioma diagnosis cases
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer, and thus it has not received the research attention that other forms of cancer have received. Mesothelioma is a cancer that is resistant to conventional forms of treatment, although conventional forms of treatment are really the only available treatment options.
Victims of mesothelioma symptoms have reported feeling that there time was well spent after filing a Mesothelioma lawsuit, hoping that their journey could help spare lives from Mesothelioma in the future even if the only way to effectively do so is to bankrupt the companies responsible one by one. This may or may not be an accurate statement, but who can discount the feelings of a Mesothelioma victim ? Only a victim of mesothelioma symptoms can really determine how their time that they are lifting with will be well spending.
It is very unfortunate that the only true recourse for justice Mesothelioma victims have is the filing of a Mesothelioma lawsuit. Many family members or friends of Mesothelioma victims feel that the truer justice for mesothelioma symptoms victims would be compensation and jail time for those who decided that Mesothelioma was not a significant enough risk to protect their employees from asbestos exposure.
While not every Mesothelioma case can be brought to the center of a courtroom, many Mesothelioma cases are the result of obvious and blatant disregard for human health and life that Mesothelioma victims are able to win large sums of money to help cover the costs of expensive Mesothelioma victims. Paying for private nursing the help the families of Mesothelioma victims, and assist Mesothelioma families from having to declare bankruptcy after the death of their loved one.
Regardless of personal feelings that Mesothelioma victims, their families and friends assert, there is not always a cut and dry Mesothelioma case waiting for them. There have been changes to current legislation, which may very well prevent the majority of Mesothelioma lawsuits from being file in the future. It is vital to file a Mesothelioma lawsuit as early as possible after diagnosis. Mesothelioma victims need not lose hope. There are always new advancements in technology and medicine that may eventually prevail in finding a treatment aggressive enough to send a much higher percentage of California mesothelioma diagnosis cases into remission
Article Source : http://www.scribd.com/doc/920145/New-advanced-technology-in-Mesothelioma-diagnosis-cases
Read more at www.scribd.com

About The Author
Nick Johnson is lead counsel and founding partner of Johnson Law Group.
Johnson represents plaintiffs in many states and focuses on injury cases
involving all types of Mesothelioma. It offers the possibility of having the Internet, e-mail, online multimedia, live video conferencing, mobile TV, music downloads—practically any data-intensive application—delivered "on the go."

What is WiMAX ?

WiMAX is an open, worldwide standard that covers both fixed and mobile deployments. The only broadband wireless standard built specifically to deliver data, Mobile WiMAX's multi-megabit data rates can lay the foundation for innovative multimedia services and support multimedia content. All-IP network architecture plus full compatibility with standard existing networking infrastructure will make it easier and more cost-effective than current technologies to deploy and operate.

Mobile WiMAX is also the first global standard to bring an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) solution to the mobile world, combined with Multiple Input/Multiple Output (MIMO) smart antenna technology. As a result, Mobile WiMAX has the ability to carry more data traffic than current networks, which are running out of capacity to meet increasing demands for mobile data. Not only has Mobile WiMAX been designed to deliver superior data rates and scalability, lower costs, and reduced complexity, but it also offers greater flexibility compared to existing mobile solutions. And the 802.16 standard will continue to evolve with a focus on maintaining a competitive lead and offering core advantages for future network development and deployment.

Intel WiMAX leadership

With the substantial cost, performance, and capacity improvements expected from WiMAX technology, service providers will be able to create the mass-market appeal and tap the full potential of the true mobile Internet.

Intel is bringing to market standards-based, low-cost, highly integrated silicon solutions that are expected to facilitate global delivery of notebooks, Ultra Mobile Devices, and a wide array of consumer devices with the Wi-Fi/WiMAX dual-mode module (codenamed "Echo Peak"). Add-in cards will be available in 2007 and embedded modules in 2008. The integration of Wi-Fi and WiMAX promises convenient and affordable broadband connectivity in the home, at the office, as well as on the go, enabling users to enjoy a common experience on either network and to gain access to real-time, high-value information wherever they are.

Global connectivity

Developed markets—More choices about where you work or play

Mobile WiMAX can facilitate real-time sharing of information and consumers and businesses alike can stay connected while on the move outside the home or workplace. The integration of Mobile WiMAX and Wi-Fi provide a transparent, "always best connected" experience for "on the go" personal broadband anytime, anywhere.
Developing/Emerging markets—Bridging the digital divide

Mobile WiMAX offers fixed, portable, and mobile wireless broadband connectivity. Because it is optimized for both fixed and mobile environments and does not rely on direct line-of-sight connectivity, Mobile WiMAX brings high-speed broadband Internet access (with modest investment risk for service providers) to areas that previously had no access. This would be particularly effective, for example, to enable online education and remote medicine. It is especially important in emerging/rural markets where little wired infrastructure exists and is not likely to be built.

Source : www.intel.com

Read More at : http://www.intel.com/netcomms/technologies/wimax/index.htm?iid=homepage+tech_wimax

Intel® Teach Program Portfolio

Encouraging Youth in Scientific Discovery and Innovation Great ideas start with opportunities. At the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world's largest pre-college science competition, students have a chance to dream and create big ideas like: a better way to get fresh water to victims of natural disasters, a way to help the blind and disabled access the Internet, or illustrate ground-breaking mathematical theory. These innovations, and more than a thousand like them, are on display every year at Intel ISEF, a global celebration of scientific excellence.

Intel ISEF brings together over 1,500 leading young scientists from more than 50 countries, regions and territories to compete for more than USD 4 million in scholarships and prizes.

Students' projects encompass a wide range of issues and disciplines, often addressing issues that have stumped scientists for years. In 2007, more than 20 percent of the young scientists competing at Intel ISEF either had or had applied for a patent for their work.

Intel ISEF finalists come from a field of more than 65,000 students who participated in more than 500 regional Intel ISEF-affiliated science fairs around the world.

Every year, more than 1,200 science, engineering, and industry professionals volunteer to travel to Intel ISEF to judge the projects and determine the winners.

Science Service*, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., has administered ISEF since its inception in 1950.

Source : Intel.com
read more at : www.intel.com

ntel Computer Clubhouse Network

This the new community about learning computer.

Creating a community of learners
The Intel Computer Clubhouse Network is an after-school community-based technology learning program that enables youth in underserved communities to acquire tools necessary for personal and professional success.

A Computer Clubhouse is more than just a safe environment for youth; it is also a creative place where a "community of learners"—young people working with adult mentors and staff—use technology as a tool for learning and creative expression. The supportive learning environment within the Computer Clubhouses enables young people to build skills as well as self confidence.

The philosophy of the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network is "beyond access," a place where young people use professional hardware and software to create computer-based projects inspired by their own ideas. Primitive by today's standards, it contained a mere 2,300 transistors and performed about 60,000 calculations in a second. Twenty-five years later, the microprocessor is the most complex mass-produced product ever, with more than 5.5 million transistors performing hundreds of millions of calculations each second.
Today's microprocessors are the brains of your personal computer. Here on this tiny silicon chip are millions of switches and pathways that help your computer make important decisions and perform helpful tasks. And microprocessors don't just think for computers-you might find a processor in many other everyday items like your telephone or car. To help you understand how the microprocessor does its job, you will go step by step through a simple task on the chip. For the purpose of this demonstration, you will add two numbers together while watching the microprocessor do its magic. You will complete this task in four easy steps and you may review each step as many times as you want. Remember, each part of the processor has a special task. If you want to know more about their individual duties, refer at any time to the glossary.
Source : Intel.com

You can see full article at www.intel.com

Intel Museum

Intel Museum..???

Intel is a world leader in silicon innovation and develops technologies, products, and initiatives to continually advance how people work and live. In light of this, ESCAP has developed a project titled “Promotion of Publicly Funded Environmentally Sound Technologies Transfer through the Implementation of Unilateral Clean Development Mechanisms on Climate Change”. The project will be implemented from 2007 to 2009 to evaluate the barriers preventing publicly funded EST transfer and to develop models/pilot projects for successful EST transfer based on the concept of unilateral CDM projects in the carbon market. An initial small Expert Group Meeting (EGM) from 17 to 18 December 2007 will define the issues, will create a network of key players in the area of EST transfer and will identify the scope of the regional study to be developed under the current project. In this meeting experts from various regional institutions, government R&D agencies, and UN agencies would participate. UNESCAP in the partnership with China Standard Certification Center (CSC), Beijing and the Asia Pacific Centre for Technolgoy Transfer (APCTT), India, is organizing this event in Beijing, China.

see more about this Article at : http://www.technology4sme.net/EventDetails.aspx?id=122
