The best advice I got when checking them out was to watch some videos on you tube (there is also vapetube.com now) and read some information on open unbranded forums. You’ll get real information from real users without the sales pitch. You can read what people like & why and then decide on which model and price range best suit you. Models AND prices vary by quite a lot so you really want to make sure you are somewhat informed before shelling out any cash.

On you tube: grimmgreen & bigicedog channels are well known for honesty in the e-cig community.
Some forums you might like are vapersforum.com, e-cigarette-forum.com, thevaporcafe.com, there are others you just have to look and be sure they aren’t promoting only certain e-cigs from one or two vendors. If and when you decide to buy one, don’t forget to get an extra bottle of e-liquid for refilling.

I think the Greensmoke guy is full of crap. I don’t think ANY e-cig is FDA approved. (to bad too!)
Anyway, I think the 510/Yeti/Titan/Dura (all different names for the 510) is about that size but not sure. You can check out some reviews and read up on different models on forums and even on youtube. That way you can see different ones. Most good forums have links to reputable vendors without pushing you into one brand specifically. (and you won’t pay as much as the ones you already have or the Greensmokes either)

If you are in the US you can get Njoy from Target for about $109.99 the 5 pack refills are $24.99. I ordered, but haven’t received yet, the Crown7 form Crown7.com for $79.99 the 5 pack refills are $10.00. I also wanted to try the mini e-cigs and found the best price for them on ebay. I have never used one before so I ordered my refills in regular flavor tobacco half of them in medium and half low. I did not want to try all the fruity flavors at this time but maybe later.

I quit about a year and a half ago. However, I was still addicted to the nicorette gum for a whole year. I don’t miss the tobacco and SMOKE. I just miss the nicotine and I need something like this for when I drink and socialize. I know the ecigarette isnt’ 100 percent heatlhy but they are much much healthier because they don’t have any smoke or tobacco. They have JUST nicotine. (for all intents and purposes). Anyway what are your thoughts?

Ryan, first off, good for you! For quitting smoking I mean, its not an easy thing to do. And it seems with your new gum addiction that you still have some work to do to break your addiction to nicotine.

I”m betting the others who have answered are non smokers. It’s always easy to say “just quit” or “why do you need it” when you have no idea of the power of nicotine addiction. You think half a million people in this country want to die each year? You think 90% of the smokers out there do not wish on a daily basis they could quit? It’s just not as easy as it sounds to non smokers. I know, i’ve fought nicotine addiction my whole life, 40 years ago I was born addicted to nicotine, we didn’t know back then you shouldn’t smoke when pregnant.

As for electronic cigarettes, these may be a nice option for you, especially for those times you are out and about, when the cravings kick in when drinking and socializing. I know, it’s hard to go to a bar when you are trying to quit. Smokers who have quit years ago still say this is the hardest time for them.

The electronic cigarette might help you out in these instances in two ways:

1- you can use the low nicotine cartridges to give yourself a bit of nicotine
or
2- The better option – Use the no nicotine cartridges to simply enjoy all the aspects of smoking in a social environment, make your brain feel like you are smoking perhaps, and avoid or minimize those crazy cravings. All without the smoke (well, save for that that might be floating around from real smokers!) and without the nicotine.

The worst thing to do would be to go out to a bar, pick up a real smoke and fall back into the habit all over again.This happens to far too many people.

As for the cost, it is a bit expensive to get a starter kit. But it’s not $192 bucks, you can get ones for much less than that. The Green Smoke one, my favorite, is $139 bucks and comes with five cartridges. After the initial cost, the cartridges are far less than cigarettes, about $3 a cartridge (a pack of cigarettes) as opposed to the $5 or more you will pay now for real cigarettes. And you know already how expensive the gum is. The drug companies are not stupid, they charge a bit more then cigarettes and just raised their prices after the recent tax increase.

It seems you have done your homework and understand the e-cig is not 100% safe, just like most things in this world, like drinking and even cheeseburgers if you listen to some people! But they are far safer than risking going back to regular cigarettes and the FDA’s own report and study show they contain about the same amount of harmful carcinogens as the gum or other nicotine replacement therapies would.

Just be careful which brand you buy. Not all e-cigs are created equal, just like everything else. If you go cheap, you get what you pay for.

I’ll suggest the Green Smoke for many reasons: Easier to use, higher quality construction, better service and these things really do put out more vapor than any other e-cig i’ve seen.

But, whatever you decide to do in the end, please please please, don’t go back to regular cigarettes and do what you must to finally break your addiction to nicotine once and for all. One reason I like e-cigs is that I can go without nicotine, and still be able to “smoke” which seems to minimize my cravings after a life long habit of smoking. It’s not just the nicotine you crave and miss, it’s the habit that became such an integral part of your life.

Full disclosure: I sell e-cigs, not just Green Smoke and to be totally honest, they are not the most expensive one I sell. But they are my fav for all the reasons i’ve mentiond. I think electronic cigarettes are the best option to save hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives. Once I found them, I couldn’t think of a better way to make a living then saving lives and helping fellow smokers who are resistant or flat out refuse to try traditional smoking cessation products.

I feel they are the best nicotine replacement therapy and have the potential to be the most successful quit smoking method ever invented. And a recent marketing report for big drug companies seems to agree, they have an entire section entitled “E-Cigarettes Will Revolutionise the Face of Tobacco Smoking and Could Pose a Threat to the Smoking Cessation Market”. Now you see why all the hub bub lately to get them banned. Can’t have them interfearing with big pharma’s big profits.

Anyway, it’s your body, it’s your health. Don’t take my word or anyone elses. Do your own research, make your own decision. But whatever you do, don’t go back to real cigarettes, they are proven killers. And a lifetime addiction to expensive gum can’t be much better for you either!

My Dad’s trying to quit smoking?

So, my dad went for a check up last week, and doctor told him that his lungs have been changing and he’ll develop cancer soon if he doesn’t stop.

I confronted him about this today, and he told me that he’s been trying to quit for the last 2 weeks. He bought a electronic cigarette. Apparently, before he started trying to quit smoking, it was a pack + 1 or 2 more cigarettes a day.

but now, he smokes 7 or 8 cigarettes a day, and a 4-6 puffs from the electronic cigarette…

I’m really happy if this is true.. but I find it bull **** for some reason. Arent there side effects to quitting?.. I havent seen any physical pain from him, nor emotional lashouts like anger or ****.

Any ideas if this is true? cause its honestly too good to be true since hes been smoking for like 28 years.

And is there any way for me to check if hes lieing or not? hes at work like 13 hours a day, and i only see him for like 2 hours before i go to sleep.

Sorry, but Im with bbq, you literally dont have a clue what he is going through, and its NOT your place to confront him. Ultimately, its his body. When you are an adult, you can tell him your body is your body. You are worried about him lying, but all hounding him about it will do is directly cause him to lie about it. Especially if you are hounding him while he is telling the truth. You need to express your concern without judgement, and without hounding. He needs support, not for his child to try to be his parent.

He likely would not be in physical pain, but would be agitated. Since he is tapering rather than cold turkey, it is mediating some of the side effects.

BBQ IS right, reducing the amount he smokes by HALF in two weeks is great progress. Most people cant. It takes most people 3-5+ times of trying to quit to actually succeed, and a portion never do.

Electronic cigarettes for someone with multiple stents?

The husband of an acquaintance of mine has had multiple stents implanted in his arteries but he can’t (or won’t) quit smoking. He tried Chantix, but he went back to the smokes.

I was talking with someone tonight about electronic cigarettes, and she told me that two people told her that they used them as half-way measures to actually quit smoking.

Should i tell my acquaintance about electronic cigarettes for her husband? Could they actually be worse for him than the tobacco smokes? Any downside to these over the regular cigarettes?

If i did tell her about them, i would tell her that he should talk with his own doctor first before he lit up with these, but i couldn’t be sure he would actually talk it over with his doctor, so i wanted to get some knowledgable input first before i even mentioned this to her.

Why is the FDA trying to ban electronic cigarettes that are SAFE but not the REAL cigarettes that cause CANCER?

and KILL? Its been PROVEN that tobacco cigarettes kill so many people and others around them. The FDA now controls the tobacco industry. Why havent they done anything to outlaw the real stinky cigarettes but try so hard to do it for the electronic cigarettes?

The e-cigarettes has no tobacco or smoke in it. It doesnt have any those deadly carcinogens in them but it does have nicotine. It looks and acts like a real cigarette and its run on batteries. Its helped a lot of people quit smoking and saved their lives! Theres even been doctors approving of this. Why does the FDA want ecigarttes to be illegal when the real cigarettes stay on the market for people to buy? Why dont they want to ban tobacco and alcohol too? If we dont trust them to take out all the poison killing people out of the cigarettes, cigars, and snuff, why should we trust them with our food safety? What do they want!!

It looks to me like youve partly answered your own question Tony! I believe that because THEY control the tobacco industry that there is some sort of kickbacks they must recieve not to mewntion the money in taxs and the millions spent on testing through the FDA . Its a very profitable client of the FDA’s . As for the safe smokeless cigarette i suspect the FDA claims no data has been given to them sufficient to approve of them. Its just another way for them to keep the safe cigs tied up in red tape so that they eventually have to pull em off the market. Theres no money toi be made if the product recieves a goahead with no future studies needing to be done. What im trying to say is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ is at stake for the fda in more way than one. Someones got to pay their wages huh?

It sounds like either your battery or charger is dead or your atomizer is dead. If you have a volt multimeter you can check all of them.

I would look into returning it and trying something else.

What is wrong with my electronic cigarette?

I just got an E Health Electronic Cigarette from lightinthebox.com. It worked for about 5 minutes and now it won’t draw smoke. I tried replacing the cartridge but it didn’t work. The battery still works and lights up. From what I can tell its the atomizer but I could be wrong and I don’t know how to fix it. Please help.

My e-cigarette cartridges seem to run out really fast. Am I doing something wrong?

I bought an electronic smoke yesterday and have gone through 6 cartridges already. I haven’t even been smoking it that much. Each cartridge is supposed to equal 1 packet of smokes. There’s a plug thing that I take off to put the cartridge on the e-cig and it seems to have more smell in it than the cartridge itself. Am I supposed to do something with that? Anyone know?

You probably got a crappy one. Not all e-cigs are created equal. If you got it from a gas station it’s probably crap, if it cost less than $40 its probably crap and if it has 3 pieces its probably crap.

I use SMOX electronic cigarettes. One cart will last me the hole day and then I can refill it 3 times before i need to open a new cart. It has a ton of vapor and Ive been using the same cig for over a year, so its really reliable too.

I would get your money back, most will give it to you if you just tell them its broke. Then look up SMOX and get a one of them. All my friends love them too

Can u use any brand of cartridges for any brand of the electronic cigarettes?

You really need to be more specific. As SOME parts are interchangeable.
The 2pc KR808D cartomizer will fit a DSE 901 battery which is a 3pc unit.

On the 3pc units, quite a few of the cartridges are interchangeable. Example: DSE801 to M201, DSE 901 to a lot of models.

Most vendors don’t recommend interchanging parts as just because they fit together does not mean they will work together well or for very long before one part may fail. Though through my experience, if all e-cigs are set to work at 3.7 volts, then if they fit together they should work without a problem but I’m no electrician. LOL Example: Joye510 atomizer on a J118 battery works and I haven’t had any problems, but its not recommended.

I am a seventeen year old who made a poor decision to begin smoking 6 or so months ago. I realize it was a bad decision to begin and I can openly admit I am very addicted. I go through an average of three packs a week. I heard word of electronic cigarettes and did some basic research on them. My basic questions are:

1. What would the best brand of E-cigarette be?

2. Where are refills available and how are they packaged?

3.How long does one reusable e-cigarette last? and how is it “recharged?”

Silly me, I forgot – adults only like things that taste like crap! The patch may cause skin irritation from the adhesive as many smokers can attest to. Be advised that they do also contain the same trace carcinogens found in the e-liquid for e-cigs. Which the FDA saw fit not to release in their report.
You may also consult your Dr. About getting on Chantix – also an FDA approved method of quitting. Just be careful as one of the side effects are suicide. But, Hey – it might be worth the risk because if you continue to smoke – you’re gonna die anyway right?
Once each state bans the e-cig (which is slowly in motion now) you won’t be able to use it once you turn 18 anyway – so you will have the same two choices long time committed smokers have – which is Quit or Die. So good luck to you!

Sorry for the rant – just a little fed up with all the “dangerous” e-cig BS, ASH, and Government!

What’s the best way to go about quitting cigarettes?

I’ve been a pack a day smoker for about three years and I’m starting to think about quitting… I’d like to hear how some people on here have done it successfully.

Is it best to slowly cut down on how much you smoke until you’re down low enough to just stop, have any of you had success with the patch/gum, or even the blucigarette (electronic nicotine inhaler). Or is it best to just quit cold turkey?

Also, how bad are the nicotine withdrawals? I feel like the psychological addiction is going to be harder to overcome than the nicotine addiction but how should I expect to feel in the few days following stopping if I decide to go cold turkey?
