Paul Smith Junior for winter 2012 children’s fashion has a great lookbook shot by Sandro Sodano against an oh so topical spotty backdrop. This season sees a full shoe collection for the Junior range too.

Signature themes are here which are taken from both the mens and women’s catwalk ranges with a great retro patterned shirt for the boys and a trompe l’oeil collared dress for girls. Colours are muted grey and berry tones with flashed of brights.

Laduree Paris 150th anniversary, it’s not just macaroons you know.

I am never one to turn down the opportunity to sample a Laduree macaroon or two and was delighted to pay a little visit to the new corner tea room in Covent Garden for a look at the lines Laduree have in store for their 150th anniversary this year.

Each month will have a different special macaroon flavour, already a new line with a marshmallow interior rather than cream has debuted ( great for those with high cholesterol) and each month has a different celebration box.

But it’s not just macaroons at Laduree, as well as a mouthwatering selection of visually stunning cakes there is a rapidly enlarging merchandise selection with candles, skin creams, soaps, key rings, notebooks and later in the year a few rumoured make up items too.

if you pay Covent Garden a visit its worth checking out the Ralph Lauren Rugby store too newly opened opposite. I just loved the discreet front door, once the home of Admiral Edward Russell who died in 1727. The size of the store is incredible and carries on the tradition of Ralph Lauren converting once famous family homes for their vintage British lifestyle appeal.

A massive hit of colour for winter 2012 from Sonia Rykiel Enfant children’s fashion collection

Echoing many of the trends seem this week at the latter part of London Fashion Week is the winter 2012 kids collection by Sonia Rykiel Enfant and perhaps an indication of what might be coming from Paris too in the way of strong colour.

Still with the black echoes and the signature stripes of the Rykiel line this is however one of the brightest winter collections I have ever seen.

Even boys get in on the fun with a bright multicoloured sweater too.

London Fashion Week is in full swing, what did I find there?

There is such a buzz at the Somerset House base of London Fashion Week now, mainly due to the ever increasing crowd of street style photographers that linger in the entrance which by default is encouraging every fashion student in London to dress up and parade down there as they queue for the latest shows.

Its very entertaining and becoming fairly extreme, witness the plastic lady I snapped on my way out below as she was arriving for the Mark Fast show.

I know there isn’t kidswear at these shows but I love to catch up on what is being shown and I can usually find something I might like to use in a kids fashion story from the jewellery and hat exhibitors. Some favourite items are below.

My Little Dress Up, a cute story for their beginning, a second season next winter for this kids fashion brand

My Little Dress Up exists because the designers once made a dress for a little girl they knew in memory of the special party dresses that had been given when they were young. The little girl Lola became the company model and now this children’s fashion label is showing its second season for winter 2012 kidswear.

Based on a nearly couture concept with high quality fabrics and excellent make from a high end Atelier, the label which is based in the Netherlands is growing slowly with a range of special party and event items for 2-10 years old girls and boys.

Here is their first summer collection and some previews from winter 2012 which they exhibited for the first time at Kleine Fabriek in January as well.

Bonnie Young preview for kids fashion winter 2012, muted colour and mixed textures bang on trend for next winter’s fashion

New York based designer Bonnie Young always has the most beautiful children’s fashion collection, it is sophisticated and is for the pre-teen – teen age group so it is not a surprise that she has started an adult sized line too.

The stunning range for next winter has a soft no-colour colour feeling with washed out greens, greys, brown and off white shades that remind me a lot of some of the clothes I have been seeing at the London Fashion Week this weekend.

The studded leathers, ruched and twisted satins, fur banded hems, textured and fringed wools are bang on adult trend too and the pop of flourescent now and then completes the collection perfectly.

The adult versions will contain the same fabrics and styling as this children’s line, this is not an easily affordable collection but it is truly desirable and would suit suit customers from Russia and the East very well.

In the UK it is just available at Harvey Nichols kids boutique run by Step 2wo.

Teeny Tini made by JK Lange started as a label for children’s clothing made from random lengths of knitted and crochet threads but when I saw it at Playtime Paris this season there seems to have been an evolution into play rugs and toys which suit her hand made and vintage look ethic perfectly.

I love the big face Gandalph rug, such a personality and the loopy knit hedgehogs and stuffed quirky animals have a genuine ‘just picked it up at the flea market feel’ without the hours of searching it would take to find something this perfectly retro.

I think its a great new direction and will watch to see what further products issue from this line.

Something looked familiar about the Marc Jacobs brilliant winter 2012 fashion show, ahh yes, it was the giant hats, last seen on a kids catwalk in Pitti Bimbo, Florence for winter 2012 childrenswear.

I loved his mix of eccentric giant hats and lurex, brocade and chunky knits, all seen on the catwalk at Pitti Bimbo too. Here is a selection of the obvious perfect accessory for next winter from Twin-Set Girl, Monnalisa, Francomina Mini, Miss Blumarine and Waddler.

Simonetta for UNICEF, a stunning display of dolls featuring their archive fabrics

At Pitti Bimbo in Florence this January the Italian children’s fashion label Simonetta held a remarkable event in aid of UNICEF.

To support the Pigotta project they had dressed 500 Unicef patch dolls in fabric and styles from their archives. I arrived late to the event and hadn’t realised the dolls were being sold in support of the Charity, but I was given one sad and lonely last doll whose outfit had been taken from her.

So for my first ever giveaway all the way from Florence I have one Unicef Pigotta patch doll here for one lucky reader who leaves a comment below, I will pick from my lucky hat on the 19th February and despatch the doll promptly. Her Pigotta identity is still attached.

More about the work of the Pigotta project can be found here, the project is an Italian once a year event, the dolls are made by school children, senior citizens and volunteers by hand and the event’s aim is educate the importance of immunisation in the developing world. The dolls represent all the races on Earth and weirdly this one looks a bit like me!
