I really don t have time any more to update this blog. As I am focusing on my new website (http://norest4thecollectors.x10hosting.com/), studies and familly life -. I am afraid but that is the end. I will no longer update dead links nor post new stuff.
You can find me on dime though, on the bootleg Hubs (DC++) as well and on the openaps.
I made nice friends ( Errie, would you kindly drop me a line if you read that) from all over the planet. I am happy to have shared great moments of live music....
Dressed in black vest, displaying a muscular physique, he has his white Stratocaster slung low on his hip as he grins, chews gum and unleashes a fusillade of diamond-cutting riffs. With his pudding-basin haircut unchanged since he first wrought several shades of six-stringed mayhem with the Yardbirds, it's hard to forget that Jeff was the role model for Christopher Guest's Nigel Tufnel in seminal rock comedy This Is Spinal Tap. The back projection – archive photos of Beck in his pomp or relaxing at home with his prized vintage hot rods – underlines the connection. But in a selection from his two outstanding recent albums Who Else? and You Had it Coming, he combines his hobby and his art in a way that would have Tufnel scratching his head in disbelief. Beck's flashy technique and sharp changes of gear provide customised thrills as his guitar replicates the sound of blaring horns or roaring engines. At one points he stops, orchestrating the band so that the musical bridge is provided by the sound of an old jalopy setting off on a race projected on the big screen. The sublime followed the ridiculous with his truly awesome rendition of Charles Mingus's "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat". Versatility and ability to stretch the parameters of any genre have always been Beck's calling card, and tonight is the perfect setting for him. Duelling with a percussionist, he unleashes mind-blowing modal scales, plays fat electric skank when the band dip into a loping reggae offbeat, and adds scorching New Age funk to computerised beats on a selection from his hip hop-inflected Guitar Shop album. He's always been an enthusiastic sideman rather than a bandleader, so it's not surprising that Beck's choice of guest stars can be a bit wayward. The declamatory vocalist Imogen Heap and the turgid Roger Waters are the ice to his fire, and lukewarm water was the result. But he finds the perfect partners in the garage-blues duo the White Stripes, reactivating a selection of Yardbirds hits ("Evil-hearted You", "Heart Full Of Soul" and "Lost Woman") with zeal and menace. Jack and Meg White looked vaguely embarrassed when they returned for the final all-star "Hi Ho Silver Lining" singalong, but their earlier contribution insured that Beck's generation-transcending vitality shone brightly.

SOURCE

AUD

SOUND QUALITY

A

FORMAT

Mp3

BITRATE

160

TRACKS #

2

LOCATION / VENUE

London

Royal Festival Hall

DATE

12 Sept 02

NOTES:

Interesting to note is that whoever edited this concert put the medley of Peter Gunn etc. before the actual Sweet Emotion, thus a majority of Sweet Emotion is cut and commences from the start of the guitar solo onwards. Dude and Dream On are listed together on the same track, where they could have be separated. Strangely Mama Kin omitted from the recording (after Amazing - poor edit). One of few rare occasions where Flesh and Fever were played in the same set. This concert was probably one of the most dominated with GAG numbers (a majority of it on Disc 1) and apparently the live outdoor debut of Crazy.

Slayer - Angel Of Death

Tracklist
01. She was one of the lucky one to be invited to this private concert. Sorry Bev if I did not ask you the permition to put that on my blog… I am lacking of time!!! respect!!!

If precious memories are "Something To Save", then I would like to share some recollections of a most special and magical occasion that I will certainly save for ever - the evening that my husband and I were in the audience for George Michael's "Unplugged" concert.
The security at the "secret" venue was extremely tight, and our tickets were examined closely several times before we were allowed anywhere near the studio complex where the concert was being recorded. We had previously been given instructions not to wear white (for the cameras), and not to attempt to take food, drink, drugs(!) or any type of recording equipment in to the studio with us! Once we had been cleared by security, we all had to queue up before being taken to "hospitality". Looking around the other people present, it was obvious that there was a great mix of fans and people from all aspects of the music industry, including some of the DJs from London's Capital Radio. We were led to our seats around 7.45pm. The atmosphere was really electric, people were just so excited at the prospect of George singing live again!
My husband and I were seated about halfway back in the studio, right in the centre of our row, and about four seats away from the VIP area, where we saw George's parents and other family members, Andros, Dick Leahy and David Austin. I will always remember the pride on George's mother's face that evening; I was particularly affected by her untimely passing just a few short months later.
In total I would guess that there were around 400 people in the audience, and we were all quite squeezed in....I think that it could be termed an "intimate" venue!! The camera angles on the telecast made the studio look considerably larger than it actually was! Soon the band members, backing vocalists and orchestra took their places....
Suddenly, at around 8.15, there was George walking towards the stage, dressed all in black - a beautiful suit, shirt and tie - and with a huge smile on his face!! He looked so relaxed and so genuinely pleased to be there! The audience immediately began clapping and cheering - several people called out "Welcome back!". Once seated on his stool, George began a series of vocal warm-up exercises with his backing singers, much to our (and their) amusement! The live performance that then followed was one of the most impressive that I have ever witnessed, with George managing to make it both highly professional and huge fun for everyone present.
Along with the songs that made it to the final telecast, George also sang such classics as Hand To Mouth, One More Try and a wonderful version of Waiting For That Day. His voice was incredibly beautiful, he showed great control when it was needed, and also real strength. His version of Fastlove was close to the "Summer Mix", and Father Figure (one of my all-time favourites) was simply wonderful. Probably the most moving moment of the evening was when George sang You Have Been Loved. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was in tears, and so were several other members of the audience - the emotion that he imparts to his lyrics never ceases to amaze me!
It would be unrealistic to expect everything to run smoothly on such an occasion, so it will come as no surprise to learn that there were a few hitches, but they actually added to the unique atmosphere that evening! During one hold-up, George joked with the audience that we would probably have preferred to stay at home to watch Brookside (an English soap) - to which one wit shouted the response "No - Friends!", much to George's amusement. So what did go wrong? Well, the backing tape for The Strangest Thing decided to be temperamental; then George and the band each began the same song, but at different tempos, which was hilarious; and the wire leading from George's ear-piece kept coming loose, and having to be reattached to the back of his jacket with sticky-tape; and they almost forgot to perform Older! Then he wrongly credited Bonnie Raitt with having written I Can't Make You Love Me, and retook the intro....only to sing a line incorrectly, and have to go right back to the beginning again! George told us, laughing, not to worry because it would all be fine in "the edit"! At one point, something electrical became disconnected and George called for a stop - "I'm not plugged in!" - only to have the inevitable comment shouted from the audience - "That's because you're supposed to be unplugged!"! Naturally George was perspiring quite heavily under the studio lights, and a make-up girl had the enviable job of running on stage between songs to blot his face with a tissue. Throughout, George maintained a rapport with the audience and encouraged us to clap and sing along with the songs - as long as we were (joke!) "in time"!
The funniest thing occurred shortly after George and the band took a short break about halfway through the evening. He returned to the stage and started to sing, but there was a lot of hand-waving from off-stage - George's shirt was not tucked in at the front! What else could he do but turn his back to the audience, unzip his trousers and tuck his shirt back in?? The band suddenly struck up "The Stripper", and of course we were all clapping along and laughing!! Luckily, George saw the funny side of it all too!! By now the audience had really warmed up and people began to shout out requests. I think that George was really quite taken aback, but apologised to us, saying "We can only play what we've rehearsed". One person persisted, calling out again for Spinning The Wheel. George's response was remarkably candid - he wouldn't be singing that one because "we tried it and it sounded shit"! There were a few retakes of songs (mainly the slower ones) towards the end of the evening, but of course that was to be expected because we all know what a perfectionist George is, and he wanted this to be just right. And I, for one, was delighted when he decided to retake Father Figure! Then, in an extraordinary act of generosity, George declared that he wanted to thank us all for our "patience" during the retakes. He asked for all the cameras to be switched off, even those overhead (one of which had been directly above us). He then invited us all to get up on our feet....and HE got up and danced on stage for the first time that evening while treating us to a second rendition of Star People! For me, this was the high point of an already incredible evening, and, believe me, there was absolutely nothing "edited" about the lyrical content of that song!!
The audience went absolutely wild, and then, before we knew it, it was all over....George left the stage just after 11pm, acknowledging the applause with smiles and waves. We were left to go home on a definite high! This was one evening that could have gone on for ever; but as it was, this girl really had got Everything She Wants! I feel so privileged to have been part of such a special occasion! And in case anyone still doubts it, I can say with confidence that, even without a sound system to blow your ear-drums, without heavy production, and in a semi-acoustic live setting....yes, George Michael really can SING!!

THE DATE : Friday, 11 October 1996<br 1997 in addition to the song 'Luton' Kraftwerk performed 2 new songs in Linz, Austria. The beginning of the first song (the so called 'Tango') is the melody of the song Airwaves, originally released in 1975. 'Tango' was also performed later, in 1997-1998 and mainly in 2002-2003 (known from fan reviews).
The second song was played the first time in Linz and the last time in Karlsruhe. This 'two-time performed song' is the so called 'Lichthof'. Shamefully, the BBC was supposed to be broadcasting the gig live, but instead edited it down and only broadcast the tracks marked above with asterisks.

Goldfrapp - Somertime

With its elegantly proportioned 1790s architecture and matchless riverside location, Somerset House is in many respects a dream venue, especially on a perfect summer evening under a sky turning cobalt as the sun goes down. However, I'm not certain this was quite the right setting for the erotic techno-cabaret of Goldfrapp, an act surely designed for murky nightclubs reeking of cigar smoke, spilled whisky and cheap perfume.
Judging by the aura of pervy sex that drips from the songs on their new album, Black Cherry, the band's theme tune ought to be Tainted Love (surely the source for the pumping electrobeat of Train). Singer Allison Goldfrapp seems bent on perfecting her own digitised update of Marlene Dietrich, taking the stage in a short black dress and pert matching cap, like an airline stewardess from the Weimar republic. She doesn't say much - her typical between-song comment is "cheers" - perhaps in order to avoid destroying the auditory illusion carefully assembled by her band.
In fact, even though there are five musicians on stage, she might just as well stand there with her musical partner Will Gregory and a bunch of machinery, since Goldfrapp's music is highly processed and synthetic. Every track is a sleek confection of drum machines, synths and mock-string effects (although, to be fair, there are some interludes of real violin, too). And Goldfrapp's voice has a curious treated quality, as if we are hearing an electronic facsimile of what she is singing.
Consequently, it was no surprise that a certain sameness began to creep into the proceedings: many songs share a sound palette and tick along at a similar pace. Notable exceptions are the nervy pulse of Twist and an encore of Black Cherry that finds the band running in slow motion as Goldfrapp mooches through the lyric. New single Strict Machine bowls along tidily enough, but its echoes of Suzi Quatro's Devil Gate Drive and Gary Numan-ish lyric about robotic love create a strange sensation of time running about 25 years in reverse. We had already been through that with the support band, the aptly named Colder, who seem to be on a mission to revive the "classic" sounds of Ultravox and Steve Strange. Help!

SOURCE

FM

SOUND QUALITY

A

FORMAT

Mp3

BITRATE

256

TRACKS #

6

LOCATION / VENUE

London

Sommerset House

DATE

08–03

NOTES:

This was played on XFM in 08–03. last track is a studio session recorded on radio 2 in 2004

Woodstock '99: Festival of "peace" and Music

Woodstock 1999, held July 23-25, 1999 was the second rock concert (after Woodstock '94) that attempted to emulate the success of the original Woodstock concert of 1969. Like the previous concerts with the same name, it was held in upstate New York, this time in Rome. The entire weekend was available on Pay Per View. The concert, with an estimated 220,000 attendees, was marred by eruptions of violence, sexual assault, and looting. Though many concertgoers reported enjoying the event, the consensus was that it failed to emulate the "peace and love" environment of 1969, and it was also economically unprofitable.

There were several reasons why Woodstock concertgoers were unhappy. Foremost were the prices: Tickets to the 3-day event were $150 (leading to graffiti along the lines of "$150 = Too Much") and food prices were high. Also, concertgoers learned that the field where the concert was held, a former U.S. Air Force installation (Griffiss Air Force Base), was a Superfund hazardous waste site.
Public water fountains were available, but many were destroyed and others were guarded by "mud people", who would throw mud at anyone wishing to access the available water.
Poor sanitation and security, the lack of available water, and 90-degree heat led to a dangerous concert environment. Recognizing the dangerous situation, many water and food vendors requested permission to sell their goods at cost, but the Woodstock organizers refused, as granting this permission would represent lost profits. This put the vendors rather than the concert organizers at risk in the event of violence.
Prior to the concert, the promoters of the event, determined to avoid the gate-crashing that had occurred at previous festivals, had described the site as "defensible" and proudly described the 12-foot plywood and steel fence intended to keep out those without tickets. About 500 New York State Police were hired for security. They also recruited volunteer security from New York City, many of whom walked off the job by disappearing into the crowd.
Allegedly, some of the violence and looting began during Limp Bizkit's performance of the song "Break Stuff," which many critics of the concert blamed for the violence. However, the violence truly escalated in the final hours of the concert as Red Hot Chili Peppers attempted to perform their hit "Under The Bridge". A group of peace promoters had distributed candles to those stopping at their booth during the day, intending them for a for a candlelight vigil to be held during the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance. Instead, the crowd used them to ignite bonfires. After Red Hot Chili Peppers was finished with their set, the audience was informed about "a bit of a problem". The delay power caught fire, and the fire department was called in to put the fire out. In response to this, the audience started to sing the lyrics to the Bloodhound Gang song: Fire Water Burn, the lyrics goes: We don´t need no water, let the motherfucker burn. Burn, motherfucker, burn. Then, the band came back on stage, and performed two more songs, which was Sir Psycho Sexy, and a cover of the song Fire, by Jimi Hendrix. Soon after they left the stage a riot broke out in which fences were torn down and burned, ATMs were tipped over and broken into, and vendor booths were looted, turned over, and set on fire. MTV, which had been providing live coverage, removed its entire crew. MTV host Kurt Loder described the scene in the July 27, 1999 USA Today:
"It was dangerous to be around. The whole scene was scary. There were just waves of hatred bouncing around the place, (...) It was clear we had to get out of there. It was like a concentration camp. To get in, you get frisked to make sure you're not bringing in any water or food that would prevent you from buying from their outrageously priced booths. You wallow around in garbage and human waste. There was a palpable mood of anger." Police later reported that at least four rapes had occurred during the concert. Seven arrests were made on the final night of the concert and, afterward, police reviewed video footage, hoping to identify and hold accountable looters who, amid the chaos, had not been arrested. Some one-dozen trailers, a small bus and a number of booths and portable toilets were burned in the fray. Five people were injured.

DMX - Live in Woodstock 1999

1. Joyful & Triumphant

Most bands, when they break up, do so in a welter of recrimination. They might play law-suit tennis for a time afterwards, like moneyed divorcées. Or they limp along, minus a few members, drawing on the strength of session musicians like ticks on bare ankles. Few just fade away with dignity. Fewer still throw a cutting-edge goodbye party in a giant former steelworks outside their home town and invite dozens of other bands, DJs, visual artists and a few thousand revellers along and call it a festival. But then, Pulp are not - were not - an ordinary band.
The verb tense is tricky: Pulp haven't spelled out their end in neon lettering. True, they are without a record deal; their relationship with Universal Island ended with the greatest hits compilation of last month, which creaked into the charts at a dismal 71. And Jarvis Cocker, their totemic singer, doesn't quite say goodbye. 'This'll be the last time you see us for a while,' he announces gruffly. 'But we may meet again, who knows?' He leaves it open, half like a contrite, caddish lover, unable to say the words, half like a man who's merely moving to Paris to be with his new stylist wife. Cocker has always looked a bit like a French filmmaker from the Sixties - it'll be a novelty for him to fit in.
The truth is that the band are still unsure. But Pulp's last chart position did have a clang of finality about it. For a while, Pulp have seemed like a band in the evening of their day. The signs? The diminishing returns of their singles, for one - even though later songs like 'Trees' or 'The Last Day of the Miners' Strike' are among their best. Their extramural activities, for another - Cocker and bassist Steve Mackey started their own, terribly hip, club night, Desperate, last year; Jarvis also performed a few distinctly un-Pulp-like songs supporting a hero of his, Lee Hazlewood, last September. Then there was keyboard player Candida Doyle's departure to live in a shed in Maine.
Being clever people, Pulp read their own signs. They saw the slope leading downwards from the giddy heights of chart acclaim and Glastonbury headline slots and tabloid interest. And they rode it stylishly to a finish.
What a finish, too. Cocker and Mackey's club experience and wide tastes have dictated that Auto is a carnival of esoteric sound (like laptop troubadour Four Tet), chic disco (like Royksopp and Lemon Jelly) and dirty rock'n'roll (like raucous new duo the Kills). Its spiritual antecedents are Spain's excellent Sonar festival of electronica and our own All Tomorrow's Parties (née Bowlie); by delicious contrast, Oasis are on across town: everything that Pulp are not and are proud of not being. Auto, furthermore, suggests that Pulp wish to be remembered not as a cult band who triumphed in the major leagues against the odds, or for Jarvis's subversion of Michael Jackson on live TV, but for their ineffable coolness.
The Magna Centre lurks just outside Sheffield; awe-inspiring enough in its naked state, it is transformed by video screens and (ineffectual) heat lamps and pumping sound systems into a glacial, dystopian resonating chamber. If anything, Pulp are incongruous here. The severity of the décor and the electronicness of the acts only serves to throw their unfailingly melodic, keyboard-enhanced guitar pop into relief. They begin their mid-evening set in time-honoured tradition, with 'Do You Remember the First Time' - all the more poignant as this is, probably, the last time. 'Happy Endings', one of the rarities of the night, feels as if it too has been chosen for an obvious reason. For the most part, though, the Pulp classics tumble out compulsively, like end-of-affair confessions: 'Lipgloss', 'Something Changed' and the epoch-defining 'Sorted For Es And Wizz', all greeted by a victorious home-crowd atmosphere.
If they secretly hate each other's guts, Pulp don't show it, although relative newcomer Richard Hawley's ascendancy on lead guitar (at the expense of Mark Webber) could be read as significant. Jarvis doesn't have the air of a man tired of the stage, either: he's up on the monitors, cuffs flapping, elbows jutting, shirt untucked, vogueing and cutting loose as the music demands it.
His wit will be missed. A heckler shouts: 'Jarvis, I love you!' Jarvis deadpans: 'That's worrying.' Later, he throws peanuts and snack food at the crowd, after a disarming preamble about dinner parties, crudités ('or crudities') and nut allergies. 'This is Hardcore' gets a lengthy introduction ('We're going to dig a hole now'), Cocker alluding to how the album of the same name in effect ended their career as a clever, good-time band and began their tenure as a wiser, bad-time band. 'This is Hardcore' itself is tremendous: mantric and heavy and wreathed in bad vibes. It proves that, at their worst on paper, Pulp were also at their perceptive, ambitious best.
The encore could only be 'Babies', the tune that captured the essence of Pulp's anthems of longing and shame, and 'Common People', a song so perfect - artistically, melodically, sociologically - that it should be handed out to every middle- class young person in Britain, along with the vote, when they come of age. Pulp play the minor-key acid disco version tonight and omit 'Disco 2000', another important hit from their zenith.
If any of Pulp's faithful are disgruntled, it's disguised by the whoops and hugging and cries of 'More!' as the band wander off in a clang of dissonance. As possible exits go, it is an extraordinary one.

01 Do You Remember The First Time
02 Lipgloss
03 Bad Cover Version
04 Something Changed
05 Sorted For E's And Whizz
06 Razzmatazz
07 Weeds
08 This Is Hardcore
09 I Love Life
10 Sunrise
11 Babies
12 Common People

SOURCE

DAB

SOUND QUALITY

A+

FORMAT

Mp3

BITRATE

256

TRACKS #

12

LOCATION / VENUE

Rotherham

Auto Festival - Magna Centre

DATE

2002/12/14

NOTES:

Izzy Stradlin - Crackin Up

After Splitting with Guns N' Roses Izzy went back to Indiana and started recording the songs that ended up on his first solo album with his band the Ju Ju Hounds, Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds, released in 1992. The music was more laid back and simpler than the Illusions albums (Use Your Illusion I and II). They received fair reviews and went out on a world tour.
In 1993 Stradlin's replacement in GN'R, Gilby Clarke, hurt his wrist in a motorcycle accident and the band's upcoming European tour was in jeopardy. A quick solution was needed, and Stradlin was able to fill the gap. However, after his tour obligations were met, he promptly returned to Indiana to take time away from the music industry. Stradlin was promised to receive royalties he felt he was owed by the band in return for this.

1. In the early 1970s he moved to Kinshasha for secondary education. His vocal talents were recognized early and he worked in various Kinshasa bands like Bariza, Super Tukina, Super Bella Bella, and Saka Saka. Samba travelled east with other musicians in 1975. In Kampala, Uganda in 1976, they made their mark as Les Kinois (The Kinshasans). With Samba as lead singer, Les Kinois relocated to Nairobi, Kenya in 1977 and took the music scene by storm. Samba formed his own band, the legendary Orchestra Virunga, in 1981. Virunga, named after a volcanic mountain range in central Africa, proved to be one of East Africa's most popular groups, Their music is an innovative mix of the best rumba and soukous from Congo, with the earthier Kenyan style. Samba composes and sings in both Lingala and Kiswahili. His astounding voice has been described as melting in the ears. Virunga as a whole also get high praise; "The telepathy that runs between the bass, drums and rhythmic guitar players of this outfit is jaw-dropping…" (Ian Anderson, Folk Roots). Virunga's first recording was the LP It's Disco Time with Samba Mapangala (1982). Samba Mapangala and Virunga went to UK in April 1991 and played 23 concerts, not surprisingly causing a terrific buzz. After celebrated journeys through Africa, Europe and North America, Virunga last toured in 1997. Samba then settled with his family in Washington D.C. Samba Mapangala made a triumphant return with his CD Ujumbe (The Message). Samba's albums to date include Virunga Volcano (1990), Evasion (1983), Feet on Fire (1991), Karibu Kenya (1995) recorded in Paris with Les Quatres Etoiles and other veteran musicians, Vunja Mifupa (1997) released on cassette in East Africa as Confusion and in 2001, Ujumbe. Virunga Roots Volume 1, featuring songs from the Orchestra Virunga archive, was released in 2005. In 2000 Samba's presence at the Kenyan Jamhuri celebrations in London was one of the major highlights. His music is timeless, sounding as fresh after the 100th hearing it as it did the 1st. The lyrics, often containing advice or social commentary, are charming and interesting, the melodies delightful, energetic and exuberant. In May 2004 Samba went on a 2-week concert tour in Tanzania after a 7-year absence. He performed with an all-star lineup of musicians based in Kenya and Tanzania. Samba's latest album is Song and Dance (2006) on virungarecords featuring Bopol and other great members of Orchestra Virunga. They promoted the album and other great hits during a very energetic UK tour in March 2006. Samba was in Kenya for a major event, Ecofest, on 4th June 2006 alongside other well-known Kenyan musicians (see photo above). During the US Presidential campaign in 2008 Samba recognized how proud Kenyans are of Barack Obama and released a specially composed song in his honor: 'Obama Ubarikiwe' (click to view the video) - translated as 'Obama Be Blessed.' Samba and Orchestra Virunga were back in East Africa early in 2009 as they performed in Nairobi and at Zanzibar's Sauti za Busara festival which is featured on this post.

01 - Virunga
02 - Malako Disco
03 - Bi Kidude
04 - Nyama Chuma
05 - Obama
06 - Dunla Tunapita
07 - Tafuta Kazi
08 - Vidunge
09 - Vunja Mufupa
10 - Sungula

SOURCE

DAB

SOUND QUALITY

A+

FORMAT

Mp3

BITRATE

256

TRACKS #

6

LOCATION / VENUE

Zanzibar

Sauti Za Busara Festival

DATE

2009

NOTES:

I cut 6 tracks but there are actually 10. The grooves and production on the album are bass-heavy R&B, but Badu's langurous, occasionally tortured vocals and delicate phrasing immediately removed her from the legion of cookie-cutter female R&B singers. A singer/songwriter responsible for all but one of the songs on Baduizm, she found a number 12 hit with her first single "On & On," which pushed the album to number two on the charts.
Born Erica Wright in Dallas in 1971, Badu attended a school of the arts and was working as a teacher and part-time singer in her hometown when she opened for D'Angelo at a 1994 show. D'Angelo's manager, Kedar Massenburg, was impressed with the performance and hooked her up with the singer to record a cover of the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duet "Precious Love." He also signed Badu to his recently formed Kedar Entertainment label, and served as producer for Baduizm, which also starred bassist Ron Carter and members of hip-hop avatars the Roots on several tracks. The first single, "On & On," became a number one R&B hit in early 1997, and Baduizm followed it to the top of the R&B album charts by March. Opening for R&B acts as well as rap's Wu-Tang Clan, Erykah Badu stopped just short of number one on the pop album charts in April. Her Live album followed later in the year. In 2000 she returned with her highly anticipated second studio album, Mama's Gun, which was co-produced by Badu, James Poyser, Bilal and Jay Dee and contained the hit single, "Bag Lady".

Source

SDB

Sound Quality

A+

Format

mp3

Bitrate

192

Tracks

06

Gato Libre - Live at the Seven Arts Club

Capturing the essence of folk music, Natsuki Tamura creates an acoustic session on “Strange Village” that lets him tell the stories vividly and completely. Through open trumpet, guitar, bass, and accordion, he communicates tales that stir the imagination and let the listener interpret accordingly. Each tale comes with rounded textures that belie humble surroundings where people know that they can feel at home. Slowly and deliberately, the music walks you through the streets and welcomes you with open arms.Tamura's soulful trumpet opens wide as he improvises over pretty melodies. He emphasizes passion without being overbearing about it. The focus for the album remains its casual four-part message that roams free as a bird (or cat). Each artist pours heartfelt emotion into the cauldron that represents Tamura's tale, and the mixture heats up from within.
Stress? This village has none. Its music simmers peacefully on the shoulders of Tamura's open horn, Satoko Fujii's soothing accordion, Kazuhiko Tsumura's crystal-clear guitar, and Norikatsu Koreyasu's proud bass. Together, they create a picture of serenity and unity. Celebrations come and go as the quartet explores free jazz with timeless sonority.
Gato Libre's free association over timeless textural territory gives this highly recommended album a warm embrace. Tamura's open trumpet seals it. His quartet has found a formula that connects the music of our ancestors with the freedom that we enjoy in today's modern society.

Line-up:

Natsuki Tamura - The band’s first gig had them performing at an apartment complex on Del Playa Drive for 400 I.V. partiers. They called it 25-a-Palooza. “In I.V., you have a captive audience,” guitarist Greg Doscher said. “We had people lying on their roof and listening to our first gig. It was great….The kind of energy you find in IV — you just can’t match that anywhere else.”
Tripdavon Announces November Release for second album with Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and System of a Down Producer. Santa Barbara, CA, October 17th, 2006 – California Rock band, Tripdavon has officially set the release date of their second full length album for November 14, 2006. The new eleven track album, titled: "The Enlightened Operative", was recorded by legendary producer, Sylvia Massy Shivy, whose credits include platinum albums from Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and System of a Down.

I “grabbed” them live while opening for British Blues veterean Eric Brudon last Monday at the Royal Albert Hall. I must confess that I had never heard of them before… I have been stunned by their energy on stage… The powerfull singer voice… and the catchy song choruses – Lifeline, Never let you go ect -. Sadly that was a short set... too short... When are you coming back???

That is A MUST listen to and spread the word around!!!! You guys rock!!!
