The weather is PERFECT in Maryland right now - no humidity, beautiful warm sunshine in the day and cool at night. Love being outdoors this time of year with my kids and with YOUR kids taking photographs!

These snaps are from a photo session last week that I’m just going through now. Mom wants to use a few of the images at her daughter’s birthday party Saturday. Can you blame her?! Love the sweet smiles and the adorable tutu. Big brother warmed up to the idea of being photographed as well … just needed to let him jump around on the nearby rocks a bit and then he was ready to show me his stuff!

Ok … I know what you’re thinking … two posts in one day?! Can you even stand it? I had to post this as it’s been on my desktop for a few weeks and I just can’t stop looking at it. Wait until you see this little girl’s sister! Just as cute, BUT with the most sparkling BLUE eyes! Truth be told - the girls are daughters of a close friend of mine from home. I love our visits when I’m back on Ohio, but always wish we had more time. Anyone else feel that way about their friends?

Okay, okay, okay! I couldn’t wait! Here’s Miss. Brown Eyes’ sister - Miss. Blue Eyes!

What? I have a blog?!

I think it was last year around this time that I vowed to make blogging a part of my weekly routine. As you can see, I haven’t done very well at holding true to my vow. I’m turning over the new leaf again and hope that you continue to stick with me through the fast times and the slow times.

We’ve had a lot of rain here in the last week, so I took advantage of the photo opp to practice a bit of macro photography. More specifically, I wanted to try and capture those pretty little water droplets as they hit and hung off of flowers and glass. Here are a few of my favorites:

A few years ago, I had a large photography display up at The City Dock Coffee in downtown Annapolis, Maryland. Some one purchased a few of my framed flower photographs and called requesting photos of Black-eyed Susans. Would you believe I’ve lived in Maryland for 10 years and still don’t have a set of really good Black-eyed Susan pictures? They are EVERYWHERE in this state and spread like weeds. What’s my excuse? I even use to have large patches of them in my flower garden until one day they decided not to come back (let’s not discuss the details).

Anyway - it’s on my list of things to snap this year so please hold me to it. If you don’t see Black-eyed Susans featured on the Sophtography Blog, on the web site OR on the Sophatography Facebook page, please send me a gentle reminder!

Already February 3rd and while I’m wondering how it could already be February, I’m also wondering when it’s going to be Spring! Enough of the snow and ice and bitter cold wind.

I thought working on a very Valentine’s may be a nice warm indoor activity today. Here are a few I thought were cute (although these do have back designs, I’m just showing the front). E-mail me if you’re a recent client and would like a Valentine card created using one of your session photos!

Gumbo | food photographer

I’ve always wanted to learn how to make Gumbo. The trick is in the roux. It requires high heat and constant stirring to achieve a deep copper color. This was my first attempt at it and I think it worked out okay! This blog isn’t going to turn in to a foodie-site, but I do want to cook more this year and hope to photograph the results.

Snap Tip : Recovering Deleted Images

I accidentally deleted an image off of my camera today! We’ve all done it at one point or another, right? I just had to get this file back, so as soon as I arrived home I Googled for solutions. THANKFULLY - I found this link from Lexar:

Thank you Lexar for offering this free software download. The program is free and really does work. Allows you to search your camera card for various types of files from all camera makers or a select one.
