Snapple hones in on animal facts

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed Tim's post and I know I'll be sending him the caps he needs from my own personal collection so you should too.

I got a heads up about the validity of a fact yesterday so here is the deal. Don wrote to me about Snapple Real Fact #794:

You have your facts wrong on this one. Badwater is the lowest point in the U.S. not Zabriskie Point. (Heck, not only is it spelled wrong it's not even below sea level).

Also your term in that same Real Fact referring to Mt. Whitney being the highest point in the "continental U.S. is also wrong. Mt. McKinley in Alaska is much higher. It should state "Contiguous U.S."

Now after doing some research of my own I found that Don is right about it being Zabriskie and not Zabriskien but it probably is the lowest point in the U.S.. Badwater is near Death Valley, CA and the Zabriskie point is in Death Valley. Also, about Mt. McKinley being the highest point in the Continental U.S. but not the Contiguous U.S. is right since Alaska doesn't actually touch any of the central states(I had to get a dictionary too so its ok if you didn't know the difference)....semantics, oh well.

Hey all yall Snapple fans. This be Tim Freidel from Dover, Delaware. I am 18 and have just graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, and this upcoming Fall semester I will be attending Virginia Tech. WOOT HOKIES! I will be majoring in Architecture and so will be attending Virginia Tech for the next 5 years until I receive my Bachelor's Degree. Fun Fun Fun.

Well I gave a shout out to Virginia Tech already, but let me give one out also to this site that Dani has set up, and another for Snapple. I LOVE Snapple. And also a WOOT for Jesus. I love him so much. He loves all of yall just to let yall know. And a Woot for Delaware where we have beaches, skeeball for a quarter, minigolf (Old Pro rocks!), and TAX FREE SHOPPING! And to all of yall that aint got tax free shopping... SUCK IT!

And here in the 302, we also have the honor of being the First State, and we are the Neighboring Brother State to the State of Brotherly Love, which pretty much makes us the State of Brotherly Love #2. The only bad part about DE is we are flat and aint got no mountains, but I am headin to V-Tech where mountains are plentiful so I will be hikin it up! :)

So that is pretty much a bunch of useless information about myself, not to be confused with the ever so useful information found on Snapple Caps. And I am not kidding one bit about the usefulness of them caps. I have used them many times in daily life. For example, I used the ones about India having a Bill of Rights for the cow in a presentation of mine. I didn't have it in the presentation, but I decided to go improv and add it in, and it did help me to get my point across and to persuade my teacher and classmates. I have also used the one about vanilla being the favorite ice cream flavor, 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321, tigers having striped skin and fur, more chickens in the world than people, most elephants weighing less than the tongue of a blue whale, only female mosquitoes bite, etc.

I could go on and on and on and I have been known to do so, but I won't for yall's sake, so you are welcome and don't worry I am almost done. The important thing to learn from this section is that Snapple Caps have important, life-changing and world-changing information, so do not take them for granted and try your best to learn and remember some of them. Especially the one "Most elephants weigh less than the tongue of a blue whale" (my favorite snapple cap to date) and also the one "Dueling is legal in paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors" (my second favorite snapple cap to date).

Anyways, I'm a Snapple fan too, most likely just like you since you are lookin at this site, and I am also a collector of Snapple caps, just like Dani. However, I do not collect pictures of caps. Instead, I collect the actual caps. Right now, I have just over 400 different caps (and around 600 duplicates), but I am still a long long long way off from completing my collection. However, you can help me, and here is how:

1) Check my list of needed snapple caps (found below) whenever you find a cap.
2)Mail me the cap to my home address (found below).
PS. Even if the cap you find is not one that I need, you can still send it. :) As you can see, I do love duplicates, and plus I plan to one day not only collect every cap, but also have the record for largest Snapple cap collection.

Some more random facts about me and about life:

-Monk is my favorite show.
-Lost is my second favorite show.
-I also love to watch The Office, Psych, NCIS, NCIS: LA, Criminal Minds, White Collar, Scrubs, Royal Pains, Family Guy, Scooby Doo, Diagnosis Murder (an old school show), Whose Line Is It Anyways?, Survivor, Big Brother... Maybe a few more, but these are just shows I enjoy. I don't watch them much because I try to not watch too much television. Playing outside and hangin with friends is way more fun.
-Southwest is the best airline.
-While flying Southwest, make sure you get CranApple as your complimentary drink. It rocks!
-Cranberry Tea is my favorite Snapple. Second is Peach Tea. Third is Kiwi Strawberry Juice Drink.
-The Penguin is my favorite animal.
-Top Notch movies that I can think of at the moment: The Pursuit of Happyness, The Notebook, The Boondock Saints, Departed, Lord of the Rings (Trilogy), Oceans 11... that is all I can think of while under pressure.
-Skeeball and Minigolf rock!
-N64 = best gaming platform :)... love Nintendo.
-My full name is Jamal Timothy Freidel.
-There are many awesome international accents, but my favorite national accent is the Minnesotan Accent. Also, Delaware (specifically MoDel or Central Delaware or Kent County) has the neutral accent of America and can be heard on the television with the exception that we in Delaware pronounce water as warduh.
-Puzzles are a lot of fun... mainly Jigsaw puzzles, but 3D, Sudoku, Mahjong, and Logic puzzles have also been known to be fun.

I hope all of you enjoyed the last episode of "Best Stuff with Dave". Now I here is a guy after my own heart, Tim has sent me pictures of his amazing personal collection of Snapple caps. Here is what he said:
I went out to Walmart one day and bought two big display boards. Somehow, 500 caps fit perfectly without spare room. Very very lucky. And so I gridded it with a ruler and then wrote in each number, and when I get new caps they eventually get glued onto it after going through a cleaning process. Lol. All the duplicates get cleaned also, and then they go into a box (a snapple 12 pack)

As of now, I have enough caps to put up for more than a week. Keep sending them in though. Its better to have caps to spare than not enough :) Remember, I put caps up according to when I get them. Tim's caps will be put up starting tomorrow.

So many caps, so little time

I was kidnapped from the internet for practically a month. My friends and family made me take a break from work and you all by keeping all internet-enabled devices from me. :D Its a rainy day here in NYC so I have plenty of time to catch up with you guys.

I have been getting so much email from you guys and I feel real bad that you had to wait so long for a response. I spent most of last night getting back to all the emails and thank you again for the support.

For some exciting news I have been dying to tell you. First I want to say that I refuse to take a stance between Snapple's Compassionberry Tea and Trop*A*Rocka since I like them both but someone I know definitely has. While I am Switzerland in the matter there is a Snapple fan that created a petition to keep Snapple's Diet Trop*A*Rocka Tea as a permanent flavor. Other than the fact that it is a great drink for people with Diabetes, its really delicious.

My Name is Timothy Freidel and I am from Dover, Delaware. For a little less than two years now, I have been collecting Snapple Caps/Facts. I have a lot. I have just reached 400 different caps and I am getting close to 600 duplicates. Pretty crazy, right? Whoa my birthday week has been insane! Thanks to those who wished me a happy birthday. I am back to stay this time. We all need a vacation from projects even as glorious as this one. I'm going to tell you a secret...I drank...Arizona Sweet Tea! I know! What was I thinking?! My friends MADE me do it, I swear. They were like "I don't think you can sustain any other liquid than Snapple in your body anymore" and I said "Nooooooo....I drink water when Snapple isn't around, duhhh". But I eventually had to drink some of the Arizona tea, before I washed it down with some Snapple =D

For all those who are unfortunate enough to not know what Snapple is. If you know someone who is afflicted with such a curse, tell them to come here and be enlightened ;)

Snapple is a beverage company based in Rye Brook, New York that produces a variety of teas and fruit drinks which are sold in glass bottles, soda-style cans, and plastic bottles. Snapple was founded by Hyman Golden, Arnold Greenberg and Leonard Marsh in Valley Stream, New York on Long Island in 1972. The word "Snapple" is derived from a carbonated apple soda. Currently, there are four different types of Snapple: Tea (Diet and Regular,) Juice Drinks, Lemonade as well as their own brand of bottled Water.

Snapple's brand slogan is "Made from the best stuff on earth."

History
Leonard Marsh, Hyman Golden, and Arnold Greenberg created the Snapple brand in 1972. Initially an apple soda was the single product offered, leading to the name Snapple. Soon, fruit drinks were introduced to health clubs and the company created the name The Unadulterated Food Corporation, later changing it to The Snapple Beverage Corporation. In 1987, the iced tea flavor was introduced and a year later the company expanded distribution into New England and California. Wendy the Snapple Lady was also introduced to the advertising team as a straight-talking, average, American spokesperson. After sales reached into the tens of millions and started quadrupling every year, the original founders sold the company to a Boston investment firm and the company went public.

In 1994, the Snapple Corporation was sold to Quaker Oats, which dropped both Howard Stern and Wendy the Snapple Lady as spokespersons. Quaker later sold Snapple to Triarc in 1997, who reintroduced Stern and Wendy. The company was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes in 2000 and folded into Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages in early 2006. In 2006, a limited edition of Snapple named "Snapple Pie" hit stores. Also in 2006, Snapple introduced "Snapple White Tea", "Snapple Green Tea", and "Snapple Red Tea", while 2007 brought about "Snapple Black Tea".

Advertising/Spokespersons
In the early 1990s, radio commentator Rush Limbaugh was used as a celebrity endorser, as was shock jock Howard Stern.

In 1993 Wendy Kaufman, an employee for the Snapple corporation, was recruited to be the commercial spokesperson for the drink...partly because she liked to answer letters about products written to the company. Kaufman's advertisements centered around her reading letters out loud and delivering comedic responses. Kaufman was dubbed "The Snapple Lady." The commercials ran until 1994 when she was unceremoniously fired from the company, upon the company's sale to Quaker Oats for $1.7 Billion. Quaker Oats then sold Snapple for $300 million to Triarc, which reinstated Kaufman as the Snapple Lady in 1997.

In 1999, Snapple released a set of drinks under the "Elements" brand. These new drinks have names based on nature, and are marketed as all natural energy drinks. The original bottles were made from clear glass, but they now come in aluminum bottles. They also have amounts of Vitamin B, Caffeine, Ginseng, and Taurine.

Discontinued Flavors
According to Snapple's website, there are 68 discontinued Snapple flavors, many of which were part of unsuccessful franchises such as: Snapple Sodas, Refreshers, and Seltzers. These discontinued flavors include Cactus Tea (see photo above), Sun Tea, Sweet Tea, Strawberry Tea, Pink Grapefruit (part of a line of 100% juice drinks), Grape Watermelon ,Blueberry Tea, Ralph's Canteloupe Cocktail, Bali Blast, Samoan Splash (all four were regular juice drinks) and diet Mango Madness. Snapple sodas were popular in the northeast US from 1983 until they were discontinued in the late-1990s. The sodas came in a glass bottle with a metal (later a plastic) cap and included such flavors as Clear Cola (similar to Crystal Pepsi but marketed years before), Diet Lemon Lime, Ginger Ale, Jamaican Ginger Beer, Kiwi Peach, Passion Supreme, Peach Melba, Raspberry Royale, Strawberry, Cherry Lime Rickey, Kiwi Strawberry, French Cherry, Creme d'Vanilla, Creme d'Chocolate, and Tru Root Beer (the latter three were clear). The last six are not mentioned on Snapple's list of 68 discontinued flavors, which means there are actually at least 74 discontinued flavors. The only soda to survive as a regular drink is Kiwi Strawberry, which is currently sold in a non-carbonated form.

Snapple Caps
Snapple is also known for putting fun facts on the inside of the bottle caps. Each "Real Fact" (as they are called) is available on their website, however, they're randomly generated, making it difficult to read them all. A full list of all 200 can be found here.

It is easy to recognize the different varieties because each type of drink has a differently colored cap:

* Teas: Blue caps
* Diets: White caps
* Juice drinks: Green caps
* Lemonades: Yellow caps
* Special Contests: Red caps, Silver caps
* White Teas: Silver caps
* Red Teas: Brushed metal colored caps

Incorrect Facts
Several of the facts on Snapple caps have been found to be incorrect or out of date, including:

* #36 "A duck's quack doesn't echo" Proven false by Snopes.
* #77 No piece of paper can be folded more than 7 times. This was proven false by the Discovery Channel show Mythbusters, who folded a piece of paper 11 times.
* #114 "The oldest known animal was a tortoise, which lived to be 152 years old" Currently the oldest living animal, a tortoise, lived to be 175 years old.
* #334 "Thomas Edison coined the word "hello" and introduced it as a way to answer the phone." Hello was used in print in Roughing It by Mark Twain in 1872, while the telephone was invented in 1876.
* #266 In a New York City cap, "The only borough in New York City without a Main Street is Manhattan." Roosevelt Island, part of Manhattan, has a Main Street.

Rumors and Myths
Like many popular brands, Snapple has had urban myths and false rumors occasionally plague its brand. In 1992, rumors began to spread that Snapple was a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan and Operation Rescue. The reasoning for this was the portrayal of a ship from the Boston Tea Party, which was mistakenly believed to actually be a slave ship.

Snapple also fell victim to the old rumor that the small "K" was either a representation of the Klan, or of an imagined "Jewish Tax" (augmented by the fact that all three founders were Jewish). The "K" on the products actually meant that they were certified kosher.

Snapple initially tried to quell these rumors quietly, but ultimately had to launch a media campaign to squash them, pointing out it would be bad for business to support controversial issues in such a way as the rumors implied. Through a media campaign with the NAACP, Snapple successfully fought back these rumors, although occasionally they are still brought up as fact.

There have also been (false) rumors that Snapple is owned by Osama bin Laden.
In popular culture

The NBC comedy show 30 Rock features intentionally flagrant promotion of Snapple in the episode Jack-tor as a parody of "product integration". Careful viewing of the credits shows that Snapple does, in fact, give promotional consideration to the show.

Rapper The Game references Belvedere Vodka and the Snapple flavor Go Bananas as his drink of choice in the title track of his sophomore album, Doctor's Advocate.

Alternative hip-hop group Digable Planets references Snapple numerous times on their 1993 album, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space).

Comedian Mike Birbiglia references Snapple in one of his acts, saying that if the drug dealers outside of his house sold Snapple, they would get a lot of business from him.

In the popular comedy show, The Boondocks, Huey calls Snapple "The Black Man's Poison".

In an episode of HBO's The Sopranos, the character Bobby Baccala tells his overweight son to "lay off the Snapple"

In an episode of NBC's Seinfeld, entitled The Visa, Jerry offers Babu's brother a Snapple to which he replies, "No. Too fruity."

Snapple Theater Center
In 2006, Snapple opened the Snapple Theater Center on 50th street and Broadway in the heart of New York City's theater district. It has two theaters, one of which is a traditional theater; the other a thrust stage which can house plays. Currently in the traditional theater, the play Perfect Crime is playing. On the thrust stage, the revival of The Fantasticks is playing. The center also includes a 40x50ft rehearsal space which is available for rent. The theaters are considered Off-Broadway because of their low capacities and lack of running tivili lights.

Hey everyone! How did you enjoy your day off yesterday for Memorial day? Drink any Snapple? Got any new caps? :)

I got some much needed rest and spent time with friends coming home from school for the the summer. Lots of Snapple, hot dogs and pretzels (NYC street food) but we got a lot of repeat caps. =( Oh well.

Fast forward to the land of putting baby in the corner, hair bands and acid-washed jeans. We're talking 1987, my friends. That's when Snapple teas were born. Snapple Lemon Tea was the first. The godfather of Snapple teas. But now Snapple produces about 70 flavors of juice, lemonades and teas, all "Made from the best stuff on Earth®." You can pick up a bottle of Snapple in every state in the U.S., as well as in 80 countries around the world.

Snapple was sold to Triarc Companies in 1997. Snapple Beverage Group was purchased by London-based Cadbury Schweppes, from Triarc Companies, Inc. in October 2000.
In 2006, Snapple went straight to the source to introduce you to White Tea and Green Tea. In 2007, free radicals were put on notice with the launch of Red Teas, and then the English were given their due with the launch of authentic Black Teas. Most recently, Snapple has invited consumers to protectify themselves with Snapple Antioxidant Waters and Snapple Lyte Water, helping them to stay young at heart, mind, and the rest of their bodies, too.

Today, Snapple is part of Plano, Texas-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc., an integrated refreshment beverage business marketing more than 50 beverage brands throughout North America.

What's in a Name?
The name "Snapple" actually came from a carbonated apple soda that was part of the original beverage line. The soda had a great snappy apple taste. That's cleverness at its best.

Seems like I'm catching a cold :( Only me and my aunt Louise get colds in the summer ::smh::

I just got kicked out of my own living room because it seems like a visitor is "anti-Snapple"...I know, WTF?! I wonder if that's a real political stance...hmmm. Don't worry though, I hid Snapple caps in the couch and the cups. I literally am putting Snapple in his face! haHA I wish I had time to fill the ice tea jug with Snapple Peach tea. Darn! Next time...

Anyway, now the word "SnapTop" is in the dictionary! The URBAN dictionary :D Check it out aqui.

If you haven't tried the new flavors of Snapple them you must really ask yourself why. Vote for whose stuff (Snapple flavor) is best, either Bret's or Holly's, here.
