Classic and modern played a role at Lanvin's latest menswear collection in Paris, France. For Mr. Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver, it was all about the suit; however, it was not the traditional suit. Loose silhouettes gave a soft modern feel combined with high waisted trousers for the gentleman this time, not the Wall Street dandy. Slim attache briefcases and tailored gloves gave the new look some power. Subtle details from the jumpers to the stitching on the jackets and some sportswear influence was apparent throughout the collection. Maybe the designers are trying to tell us that now we have no excuse to not walk to work in style. I say, lace up those Lanvin trainers and hit the boardroom boys!

Staying true to his colour palette roots, black, white & grey graced the catwalk, but the designer himself may be turning a new leaf with his new silhouettes. Inspired by the mountains, double breasted jackets, coats and high waisted trousers with over sized collars on some of the pieces, made us all feel like taking a walk outside and breathe some fresh air. The designer Rick Owens is always developing his aesthetics from season to season, and this year was no exception.

Based on the amount of layering the models were wearing, we got the feeling we're in for a cold winter. The absence of bags might have been also a clue, telling us to wear all our clothes at once keeping Mr. Frost at bay.

Get set, ready, go, the racing sport Formula One (F1) sets up shop at the Palazzo Clerici in Milan for the Moncler menswear show. Inspired by the great Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, Thom Browne showcased puffy jumpsuits with attention to detail in the piping and buttons, quilted jackets and scarfs, patches and suits. Red, white and yellow with a hint of grey was the colour choice for the collection. So get your single seater ready and we will see you at the night race in Singapore.

If you ever wanted to take a drive down memory lane and revisit the revolutionary sixties or the disco seventies, the second collection by Umit Benan for Trussardi is right up your alley. Inspired by the racing car driver, Jackie Stewart, known as The Flying Scotsman, the collection showcased flare pants, flat caps, fur collared overcoats, turtle necks and knitwear, styled with cool weekend bags and briefcases. Models had some classic sideburns, moustaches and retro sunglasses which may have given some individuals a few flashbacks. It was a modern version for the gents who would like to relive the best of this era.

Known for its signature leather goods, the brand showcased a collection with a bit of rock 'n' roll. That's right. For Jil Sander's A/W12 collection, Raf Simons seemed to channel a darker side of his creativity. From leathers, vinyls and latex to a subtle touch of embroidery of whales and dinosaurs on knitted jumpers, it represented another path of the designer for the label. As the iconic doggy bag appeared on the catwalk, it may be perceived that Mr. Simons might be taking some leftovers to his next move.
