Vinay Pathak in capital to talk about STRAIGHT

Recently , Vinay Pathak, were in the capital to talk about his film ‘straight- Pinu Patel Ki Tedhi Medhi Love Story!!.at Hotel Palace Height.

Vanay said, “When I heard the first sentence of the story, I decided that I will do it. I always look for freshness in the script and something different than usual , that what is Straight about.”

He said, “‘Straight!!’ is a funny tale about Pinu, who struggles with himself, his fears and his complexes, to ‘come out’ as straight and find himself a love story..It was a great experience working with her and Gulpanag.”

The story is in the midst of central London, a successful Indian restaurant called ‘Gaylord’ is run by a Londoner of Indian origin called Pinu. A simple soul at heart, Pinu has many complexes – a special one being that he is a virgin and has experienced no intimacy with a woman. To top that, his biggest fear is to be laughed at by people… an ever-repeating phenomenon with him. Pinu is quite an introvert and has no real friends…the closest he has ever gotten to a friendship is with his foster brother rajat, who is quite a contrast to his own personality –A casual air about him, he is the lead singer of a rock band. Rajat is very fond of pinu, though is often a source of annoyance to him as he finds pinu really funny.

One day, a young Indian fellow called Kamlesh comes to his restaurant and asks for a job as a stand-up comedian. Quite thrown off, Pinu initially refuses but finally lets him join as a cook, who also does a stand-up act in the evenings. On the same day, he hires a new cashier - Renu, a young art student from India, who has a passion for caricatures. Life changes dramatically for Pinu as Gaylord begins to transform… Renu works on the look of the place, makes cheerful caricatures for customers while Kamles is a fabulous cook with a great talent for making people laugh in his acts and soon the restaurant is more happening and the business is much better. But the greatest difference they bring to his life is friendship. There is a visible difference in pinu’s personality now as he lets himself hang out a bit with them.

One fine day, Pinu is thrown in to a daze as he walks away from the restaurant …he has discovered a totally new fear – he might be Gay!!

Pinu seeks refuge in Rajat’s advice which is quite simply – screw a woman!

On a mission now, Pinu goes on a rampage seeking available women for a sexual rendezvous. However, it leads to him suffering another string of tragicomic situations, ending up feeling humiliated…and laughed at!

My husband’s wife is a message full story

Vinod Chabra has a deep relation with film industry. He is very experienced film maker. As film maker he has given films like Meena Bazar, Mera Karam Mera Dharam, Shak, Zimmedar, Pappi guddiya, Malayalam film Agni Sal Bangal.

His latest film going to be released is “My husband’s Wife”. In a conversation with him at his office in Om Heera Panna, he shared his few thoughts…

What all questions have you raised in “My husband’s Wife”?

I believe that we make films for the entertainment of the common man but with entertainment if we can also provide some knowledge and morals to the society then it’s like cherry on the cake. In this context my film “My Husband’s wife” is a very beautiful film as compared to my previous films.

In today’s scenario there is an increase culture in Punjab and Gujarat and in some other parts of India that parents want their daughter to get married to an NRI. It is like a status symbol to them. But these daughters of India as daughter- in –law there has to undergo a lot of harassment and difficulties that it really fills the hearts. It is very heart touching issues and is very close to my heart and I believe it part of my experience. For a girl being born in India and brought up in Indian culture and traditions and when undergoes the experience of seeing her husband being in an affair, what biggest punishment it could be for a married women.

In our film we have tried we have tried to show is in a simple manner that I feel proud to this film. This is a first film of its own type on such issue.
Pawan Rakhi, Aliza, Prem Chopra, Rati Aghinotri, Arun Bakshi, Vidya Sharma & Shakti Kapoor and lead actors are new in my film.

The lead actors in your film are new, so are you not in favor of celebrities are important to attract the people to theater?

Movies released last year, wrote a new history, that the films starring super stars did not do well whereas the films with new leads and subjects were really appreciated. This is more than enough for people like me and be motivated. Though on the name of big stars caste people come to theater but if the film is weak they leave the hall in between, we can’t turn our faces from the truth.

What are the other attractions of the film?

In my film we have promoted the culture and traditions of Punjab, the rituals of marriage and Lohri in a beautiful way.

This film under the banner of Jay Pictures is made is made with collaboration with New Zealand based Shayad Brothers Ltd.

The story and script is written by S.Sachindra and direction and Art direction is by Vinod Chabra. Music is given by Dinesh Arjun and sung by John Pur.

Sachin Gupta is back with his debut film Dil Kabaddi

The man behind creating the smashing hit Doorie , Sachin Gupta is back with his debut film Dil Kabaddi.

With the release of Dil Kabaddi comes to the fore the prodigious musician Sachin Gupta. At only 27 years of age, he is the in-house music producer for Tips Films and has already become a name to reckon with. Apart from having produced albums for artists such as Apache Indian and Alisha Chinoy, he sky-rocketed singer Atif Aslam’s musical career by creating the runaway hit compilation Doorie. So it was no surprise that more artists such as Jal, Ahmad Jehanzedb and Adeel followed on. Sachin is presently also working on producing two of his new Indian bands—Rooh and Ni9NE—to be introduced in the coming months. But it is with his debut in the B-industry that not only Sachin has got Rahat Fateh Ali Khan singing one of his compositions, Zindagi Ye, but also broken the cliches and intertwined sufi with rock all the same. “Every musician, whether in India or Pakistan, loves his music. As artists we are only trying to bind ourselves in the common thread of the harmony that our music speaks of,” says Sachin.

The six-track soundtrack of Dil Kabaddi, released on Sony BMG, even has Sachin singing on one of the songs called Ehsaan. The album brings Sachin’s novel approach of blending myriad musical styles under one crown. Previously this young music producer has composed two songs—Kitne Aansoon Piye and Farishta—for the film Strangers and is currently working on the TIPS film dues for release early next year and will feature Atif Aslam on two of it’s songs as well. “I’ve been working on films as well as independent albums and every song comes from the moment I have lived. My life takes the shape of my songs,” admits Sachin.

A composer-singer-producer, Sachin Gupta has is a multi-faceted talent, who is bringing varied influences of jazz, hip, reggae and rock into the mainstream for the masses, “People need to be exposed to various genres of music for them to know whether they like it or not. I’m all for bringing about a change in the given musical scenario,” he says.

A former member of Delhi’s fusion band Mrigya, Sachin has performed at over 600 concerts across countries including Dubai, London, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia that has included major music festivals such as the Jazz Fest, Edinburgh Fest and Scotland Fest.

But the progression into Bollywood, which was only natural, came through when TIPS VP, Rajiv Sogani discovered his talent at one of the concerts Sachin played. “I was playing a show in London when I was introduced to Mr Rajiv Sogani and he instantly knew it was time for me to move another level,” he says.

Termed by international media as the “Flying Finger Melodies”, Sachin’s tryst with music began at the age of 10 when his mother gifted him a guitar. Within six years of being introduced to the instrument, he went on to win the Best Asian Guitar Player. “I have played a lot of shows world across but I have always wanted to go mainstream with films since there is so much space for experimentation that a composer can do which the masses are also supportive of. All of this broadens the creative parameters of a musician,” feels Sachin.

“Summer 2007” in 4th Asian Festival of First Films (AFFF) to be held in Singapore

“Summer 2007″ has been nominated in the 4th Asian Festival of 1st Films (AFFF) to be held in Singapore from 4th December to 10th December 2008.The film is selected in the category of Best Original Script/Screenplay by Bijesh Jayarajan. Summer 2007 is produced by Atul Pandey.

Summer 2007 is based on harsh realities of today’s India where there are some 36 billionaires; economy is scaling a trillion dollar mark but still some 80 million people live for less than Rs.20 a day. Rural poverty and lack of facilities in villages is so wide spread that Farmer are forced to end their lives rather than continuing to live miserably under debt and dishonor. Urban India for sure is reaping the benefits of close to double digit growth rate and development, infrastructure etc.

Summer 2007 – a film on this sensitive issue of farmers’ suicide in Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra is produced by Atul Pandey and directed by Suhail Tatari.

The story is about five medical students from a capitation fee college in India who represent the urban youth hooked onto Xbox’s and formula 1 racing. A cinematic twist of events and a gamer gone too far, they land up in one of the most deprived villages in interior Maharashtra. Their rural posting turns into a soul searching journey where they are forced to confront their own apathy, fear and their strange complicity in the circumstances of the village. They are sucked into the whirlpool of village politics and feudal counter currents and need to make a choice. Do they leave the mess just as they had found it and get away from there….or do they choose to get involved?

Atul was extremely toxic for a long time. “No one can even imagine what I have gone through in the past nearly five months. I knew we had a good film, I knew it would be appreciated all over but the film was peeled off the face of the earth so swiftly that I could not do anything about it. I made noises but no one heard me. I have adored and loved this Industry, I belong here, but I never knew some people could be shylocks”. Critics had a ball at our cost. They said, ‘film had just too much of it’, ‘it had farmers issues, administration and politician nexus, it had naxalites, it had social reformers. I am perplexed at their lack of intelligence and knowledge, there would be no farmer committing suicide if administration and politics did not have a nexus, naxalism stems from troubled areas, and wherever there is apathy, there are reformists. I think critics are not used to stories in cinema, dance, drama, music and humour that’s it’.

‘But fortunately, most of the critics outside Mumbai wrote wonderful things about the film. I was pleasantly surprised when a show on MTV gave our film 3 stars and young kids spoke nice things about it. A social organization got some 500 farmers to see the film in Allahabad. I had tears in my eyes seeing their reactions, they didn’t know that farmer deaths are so widespread in Vidarbha – they said they themselves were poor else they would have done something for their brothers’.

In all the movie touches a very sensitive and important issue of our society. We wish them all the very best.

GAYSIL, Multi-talanted and Upcoming Attraction

Gaysil is the queen of the “multi-task” & “multi-talented”. In today’s day & era most performers don’t ever bother to work on themselves before stepping upon the stage. This is not the case with Gaysil. She is one of the few performers in Bollywood who not only takes the time to improve herself but constantly finds new & intricate ways & techniques to do so.

Not only is she a hot & upcoming face in Bollywood but also a choreographer & singer to boot. The list of her talents doesn’t stop there! She is adept in the dance styles of Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Latin American, Tap, Fusion & also the extremely challenging form of pole dancing.

For Gaysil each day begins with several hours working out on the pole - hanging & twirling about it in many fascinating acrobatic ways. When I asked her how she managed it she said, “When you love what you are doing as much as I do you don’t think about how long or painful something may be - you just do it. The pole helps me stay toned & has increased my strength to the point where technically demanding forms like Ballet are a almost a breeze!”

With many projects in the pipeline we are sure to see this Dancing Queen in all her glory soon. Be sure to keep your eyes open for her as we can guarantee that she will take your breath away!

Here’s to good quality dance from Bollywood on the screen! It’s all jhatka-matka 24/7 in Bollywood which is slowly becoming more & more an eyesore for movie-goers. One wonders why we haven’t had any Gene Kelly or Patrick Swayze like Hollywood’s yester year dance maestros. Or for that matter, we certainly don’t see any Janet Jackson or Madonna to gracing the stages of India.

Well, all that is about to change. I would like to present to you a Choreographer’s fantasy - Gaysil. She is a multi-talented dancer/singer who can not only gyrate so well that her audiences drool; but also climbs poles & does pirouettes, leaps & kicks that will finally bring life back into dance that is today nothing more than jerky hip thrusts.

“All we see on the stage today is whimsical dance that lacks technique & flare. I have always admired the great performers of the West with their almost inhuman ability to use the body as a work of art in itself. Since I was small, I always wondered why all we saw in films songs were the hero & heroine running around trees. It always made me feel that something was missing. Then one fine day I saw “Singin’ in the Rain” & “Dirty Dancing” & I was knocked off my feet! I wanted to do that & I wanted everyone in India to see what REAL dancing was all about.”

Well Gaysil, we certainly can’t wait to see all that you have to offer! Kudos to her, we wish this dancing wonder all the luck in the world!

“WHAT HAPPENED IN VEGAS”

The popular expression, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” conjures up a veritable jackpot of shed inhibitions, insane indulgence, and gleeful debauchery. And if you can remember any of it, you probably weren’t there.

But what would happen if a few crazy–okay, hugely inebriated–moments in Sin City not only didn’t “stay” there but also followed you all the way back home and threatened to turn your life upside down? That’s the setup that explodes into a series of outrageous consequences for two sexy, if wildly mismatched, strangers in the comedy What Happens in Vegas.

For charismatic party guy Jack Fuller (ASHTON KUTCHER) and buttoned-up commodities trader Joy McNally (CAMERON DIAZ), a rowdy weekend coincidentally shared in Las Vegas should have, by all rights, ended up being little more than a random blur. That is, if these two vacationing New Yorkers didn’t have a signed marriage license staring them in the face to shockingly remind them of the giant misstep they took while feeling no pain, Vegas-style.

Stacking the deck, not only did Jack and Joy tie the knot after tying one on, but later scored a mind-blowing three million bucks in a slot machine bonanza. Well, Jack won it with Joy’s quarter. At the machine she’d already been playing. Or was it the other way around? And whose loot is it anyway?

There in lies the weird hand dealt this bickering duo who take their predicament back to Manhattan only to be sentenced by the intractable Judge Whopper (DENNIS MILLER) to “six months hard marriage.” Despite the hapless protests of Jack’s best friend and legal counsel Steve “Hater” Hader (ROB CORDDRY), Whopper refuses to grant Jack and Joy an annulment, freezes the prize booty, and forces the irresponsible couple to prove they have done everything humanly possible to make their impromptu marriage work. This includes co-habitation, weekly counseling sessions, and doing something the old school Whopper believes Jack and Joy’s “generation” hates to do: try. Otherwise, the judge guarantees, the three million bucks will stay caught up in a legal battle so long and expensive no one but the lawyers will ever see a penny of it.

I now pronounce you man and wife. For real. Jack and Joy figure, “Fine, how hard can it be” and take the bait only to find themselves locked in a hilarious, patience-testing, panties-twisting game of wild one-upmanship–may the best “pretend spouse” win.

The battle of the sexes has never had a pair of gladiators like Jack and Joy, not to mention their partners in crime–Jack’s hair-trigger buddy “Hater” and Joy’s take-no-prisoners gal pal Tipper (LAKE BELL), who despise each other with almost as much venom as do Jack and Joy. Throw in Jack’s demanding father, Jack, Sr. (TREAT WILLIAMS); Joy’s hard-driving boss, Banger (DENNIS FARINA); her snooty ex-fiance, Mason (JASON SUDEIKIS); and a savvy shrink named Dr. Twitchell (QUEEN LATIFAH), and pretty soon there’s a whole team of folks making Jack and Joy’s frantic charade that much crazier.

Can Jack and Joy survive their six months of “wedded bliss”–without killing each other first–and ultimately cash in for the big payoff? Or will the fiery sparks that ricochet between them actually ignite, turning a fake relationship into something astonishingly real?

In the end, what happens in What Happens in Vegas may prove the biggest surprise of all.
