Snow, School and a little Serendipity

Adventurous Week in the mountains

2011-02-19T11:06:00.000-08:00

I've grown bored with my mundane routine and with temperatures rising I've been more inclined to learn new things, especially now since the mountains offer so many unique opportunities. My new favorite activity is slack lining.

It's seriously just tight rope walking, but, only a few feet off the ground and it is so much fun. The people doing it around campus are extremely nice and willing to teach any one willing to learn, I highly advise everybody to at least try it. You won't regret it.

My other new pass time is bouldering. Which is like rock climbing but minus the harness and it is also only a few feet off the ground.

I've only been able to do it indoors so far but once all the snow thaws I'll hopefully be able to get a group to go out and find some good spots.

Does anybody else do these things? Any tips for beginners like me?

Out of Internet for over a Week

2011-02-19T10:28:00.000-08:00

What a hellish week. I know that sounds just awful but it's true, I need my constant stream on Information! But don't fret dear bloggers, I'm still here and I'll get a new post up ASAP!

Thanks for everyone's support!

Slow slow day

2011-02-10T16:36:00.001-08:00

This was the highpoint of my day. 10k + on BC2. Also I just got the official Blogger app for my Droid so I can always have original pictures on my future posts!

It's really damn cold

2011-02-10T08:46:00.000-08:00

Mother Nature just seems to love to freeze everyone up on the mountain. It's not even the good kind of cold, the kind of cold with snow. It's the just plain cold kind of cold, the kind of cold where you just want to stay in all day and dick around on the internet kind of cold. So that's what I did, sorry Wednesday classes. Let's see what I stumbled on that cold, cold day.

Pictures of cats

Pokemon Wallpapers

And many, many silly videos (Mostly of cats)

Sorry that this post is extremely boring but I hope the picture of the happy cat makes up for it.

Anthropology, Chinese Studies and the Idea of Paleontology

2011-02-07T13:09:00.000-08:00

Mondays suck. I have my freshman seminar titled "If I were Asian". That title would lead you to believe that it is an incredibly silly class, that's wrong. "If I were Asian" is a lecture class about how in the next ten years China is going to be the largest super power in the world; interesting, but not very applicable to what plan on studying. What is that anyways? I love my anthropology class that I'm taking and Anatomy was my favorite class in high school by far I would love to find something that related to both of those. Paleontology has nothing to do with either, but, would that not just be bad ass? Does anybody have any experience with any of these professions?

Tl;dr: Anybody know anything about Anthropology or Paleontology as career choices?

This blog is for my freshman seminar class, hopefully I'll be able to deliver some entertaining stories and won't bore anyone to death. Short and sweet for today but tomorrow I'll give some info about how my freshman semester up at Appalachian State is going.
