It is the 6th straight year Loveland Ski Area has been number one in the nation to open for continuous operation.

The mountains of Loveland are 60 miles west of Denver. The slopes were open from the top to bottom and more terrain is being manicured for your upcoming adventure. It is reported nearly 1000 people attended the season opening celebration.

Most ski resorts do not open before November. Typically, Thanksgiving weekend is the target date for many. So keep your eyes open for the best snowboard "opening dance" near you.

Snowfall amounts will be difficult to predict this winter, according to the National Weather Service; we can expect above-average temperatures. We all know how unpredictable the weather has been in 2005 and California snowboard enthusiast know how plentiful the snow fall was last season. We can only hope for a return performance.

Colorado received more than 20 inches of snow recently. Be sure to check with your favorite resort or snowboard slope operation and keep a close eye on The Weather Channel.

Arapaho Basin will possibly be the next Colorado slopes to open. Planners say, "... perhaps this weekend...", but it is not a certainty.

East Coast... Will Wilma delay snowboard activity?

Typically, Killington VT is the first in the East to open for "marks in the snow". The planned opening is set for November 12. Concerning the recent flooding in New England and the chance of Wilma bringing in more rain late next week, you folks are in our prayers.

Never-the-less, get your cameras clicking and post them on your blogs. I look forward to highlighting great snowboarding photos and driving folks to your sites. Check your equipment and be safe.

Gary
Snowboarding Craze

Top Snowboarding Team Decided

Base Ultracross Team Ski and Snowboard Series Decided at Cardrona: "Series at Cardrona Alpine Resort was decided this week after four weeks of fierce ski and snowboard competition on the gravity-x course.

Top snowboard team, Random, cleaned up by winning each week'’s race and taking the overall prize. It is usually deep enough to sculpt half pipes, rails and jumps.
Earlier in the summer, in fact, Timberlines' snow groomers had sculpted three half pipes, one just two weeks ago on special order for a High Cascades snowboarding camp. "

After twenty-nine years of non-stop action, Palmer Glacier shuts down due to lack of snow last winter.

But more importantly, if you had not heard before, don't let this place escape your memory. Get your weekend plans for 2006 in writing and include a trip to this winter AND summer snowboarding haven.

Christine wrote a very alluring article about the Hood River Oregon area and Palmer Glacier.

I almost felt as though I was watching her every move as she describes the trip up and down the slopes.
