Some of you might have read or heard about our new Depower Foil Kite Range 2009 on some kite forums recently.

We are very excited to publicly announce the release of our 2009 D-Power Foil range with the Access XC 09, all new Frenzy FYX and the Manta II 09 Chasta just back from his recent trip to NZ organized by John from www.boardercontrol.com.au for the Chasta Snowkite Camp around Wanaka and Queenstown. Chasta had the full 09 Snowkite Range. Read on about his feedback HERE

Also current world champion Oli Palmers is back from his trip with Morten from www.snowkitefilm.com to capture new footage for their new DVD. Oli reports on the FYX “I love this kite. It has loads of power and turns incredibly fast. It’s my choice for this winter for sure, so much stability, insane pop and excels unhooked”

Appo and some of our UK Landkite Team have also just spent a week riding with the new range and are over the moon with what we have achieved with the kites for use in a buggy or with a MTB. The all new FRENZY FYX has tickled the guys fancy with some great quotes fired over by Appo on his return (www.appozone.com) >> “The FYX is the dogs nuts, all sizes are WOW, but the 9, that has to be the finest kite ever designed! I’d say that with the 09 the Frenzy hasn’t been developed, it’s been re-invented!!! I need to order my quiver fast” Read their news HERE

The icing on the cake is the all new PATENT PENDING 09 Control System on the FRENZY FYX and MANTA II 09. The original Ozone RE-RIDE safety system is now cleaner, simpler and more effective.

Click here for our new 09 BROCHURE in pdf also available in printed version from your local stockist within the next 2 weeks.

Our website Product pages are also now updated with detailed shots of the new features >>

ACCESS XC 09
The ultimate personal ski lift, the Access XC is designed for taking you cross country (XC) or wherever you wish to go. It’s the perfect Global Season Pass! Updated for the 09 season, the Access boasts a control system, extra re-enforcement in the ribs, completely new backpack and fresh range of colours. The Access XC is probably the most respected all-round D-Power foil perfect for all the sports we love. The XC is truly versatile with its forgiving, easy handling nature it makes kiting fun & easy allowing you to progress faster. The XC also excels in a buggy or with an MTB. Don’t take our word for it, ask any respected shop or school that uses D-Power foils and you’ll be told why the Access XC has such an amazing reputation.

FRENZY FYX
The benchmark for D-Power foil design since 2001. Our designers have spent over a year developing the Frenzy FYX. The result is a technical masterpiece combining performance and ease of use like never before. Robbie used all he learnt from the MANTA II and mixed that into the new FYX, a slightly lower aspect kite with the same 2-speed pulley system and a ton of new technical features. The feedback from everyone that has tested it from snowkiting to freestyle buggying to MTB is the same – That it’s the ultimate all terrain D-Power foil that has incredible stability with the highest performance ever felt.

MANTA II 09
The high aspect MANTA II rapidly became the Snowkite of choice for experienced kiters last season and the ultimate backcountry tool for those in the know. Its handling and performance allows the rider to push their level further than ever before. It’s the holy grail for experienced riders.

09 CONTROL SYSTEM >> PATENT PENDING

In 2005 we introduced our “leash-less” RE-RIDE safety system which meant no more leash tangles or hassles when riding. Our design has since been copied by many brands, the biggest compliment we can think of!

Robbie, Ozone’s designer and one of the most active snowkiters in the World has had his creative energies flowing the past year! To compliment his new designs, the FRENZY FYX and the MANTA II 09 Rob re-designed his “RE-RIDE” safety system. The “Patent Pending” system is simpler and more effective whilst being easier to reload once activated.

Our new Control System with our Moulded “Megatron” Chicken-loop and Robbie’s cleaner safety system gives you the ultimate bar in one length that works for all sizes of Frenzy FYX and Manta II (54cm). Also note that all components of the new RE-RIDE Control system have been designed to be easily replaceable. If you own a Manta II 07 it works on the new bar so you can upgrade.

- New bar ends and bar in one size for every kite size (54cm)
- Trimmers on Leader lines so the rider can trim/tune the kite to their liking with ease
- New “Patent Pending” RE-RIDE Safety System
- Moulded “Megatron” Chickenloop
- New Easy to Grab safety release handle
- Highest spec Amsteel Lines – Every bar is individually load tested before shipping
- NEW Ergonomic bar ends that easily hold 25m lines with elastic line keepers
- The Original Ozone Y-Line design: 3 x 25m lines from bar splitting to 4 at kite (500 kg and 300kg coloured lines)
- Kook proof and line label connection system for safety.

All the D-Power foils for 09 will also be available as a kite only option – For the customers that do not wish to buy 2 sizes with complete bar setups. This should help many kiters make the decision to buy a kite complete and have a 2nd kite size whilst saving the cost of a bar and lines. All bars this year are one size (54cm) and feature a new bar end.

Listening to all your feedback we have also designed a completely new technical mountain backpack for the Access XC and a backcountry pack for the FYX and Manta II. The new backcountry backpack has a new board carrying feature, new waist belt with pocket, large separate outer pocket for a shovel, probe and other important backcountry gear with enough room for two kites for your backcountry missions.

Twisted Kiteboards recently came out with a unique snowkite-specific snowboard called the Velocity. It goes against conventional snowboard design by using a convex (reverse) sidecut and reverse camber. The tips are fairly narrow, the waist is wide at 30cm and the length is 164cm which is good for float and should feel smaller because of the reverse camber.

The technology inside the Velocity –

Posi + Rocker – The Velocity has a positive rocker, and this upward curve across the board helps with initiating turns at slow speeds and prevents edges from grabbing when riding flat.

Posi + Side Cut – The positive and progressive side cut gives the Velocity its unique shape while providing plenty of contact between the edge and snow. The Posi + Side Cut allows the board to cut through and float over the snow efficiently while tracking very directly.

True Flex – The Velocity has a constant flex pattern that extends from tip to tail allowing the deck to flex extensively, giving a natural and progressive carve to every turn. The constant flex increases the pop for improved freestyle, and acts like a shock absorber when traversing unfriendly snow conditions.

Shovel Nose – The tips have been trimmed down in width to reduce the tendency for them to grab when on edge. These tips slice through the snow keeping the board above the snow and tracking directly, resulting in less vibration and a smoother ride, unlike a traditional snowboard that is constantly plowing and crashing thru the snow.

Phat Ass – The Velocity has a 30cm wide Ass preventing toe and heel drag. It is also one of the reasons the Velocity feels so good in powder, due to the increased surface area the board rises to the surface easily to float on top, even at slower speeds.

164 cm Length – With the thinner nose and wider body, the Velocity rides like a smaller snowboard, despite its impressive length. At 164 cm, it offers the perfect size for eating up rough surfaces, cutting cleanly across ice, and staying on top of deep snow.

Materials – The Velocity is a high quality snowboard built in the USA. Constructed with a sintered base and a solid wood core laminated to our specifications. Triax and Biax laminates mixed with resins designed to reduce weight while retaining maximum strength. High-grade stainless steel inserts and carbon fiber stringers round out the Velocity adding up to one of the most well built boards on the market.

Take a first peek at the 2009 Ozone Snowkites! Photos of the new Ozone Frenzy 2009 and Manta 2009. The new Frenzy has 22 cells and rumors are that the bar will now come with adjusters on both sides similar to the Ozone Instinct water line of kites from Ozone. Last year the the Ozone Access seemed very popular and set the benchmark for an entry level in to depower foils. It will be interesting to see if Ozone have decided to move their “Y Line” setup to the Access this year or have it remain as a 4 line. These are only the first photos to come out so keep tuned for more information!

It’s not as easy as it looks folks. Just watch Ron as he spends most of his time polishing the ground with his belly. Our participant, Mike Kelly seemed to get the hang of it a little faster. Sit back and enjoy as they try to get some highflying action on the hill.

We took an amazing truck from Young Chevrolet up to the hill off Skyline Drive to one of the premiere Snowkiting destinations in the world. We met up with the guys from Kite Utah and they showed us the ropes. They did an awesome job getting us up and running in no time. Jack Links and Mars provided treats for this chilly adventure.

Check out the amazing archivement of Michael and Cornelius who just managed to cross Greenland from south to north using Ozone Snowkites. After the Pittark Team made the same trip last year it seems that more and more expeditions are following them.

Our congratulations to Michael and Cornelius!

We are wondering what comes next?

Read on for their report below …

We are now back in France since some time and the expedition seems already far away. Still we only slowly realize that we actually made it. A dream has come true for us!

We have crossed Greenland from south to north, 2240 km over the icecap from Qaleraligd Fjord close to Narsaq all the way up to Bowdoin Fjord and Qaanaaq. During the whole trip we only walked for 60 km - all the rest was covered using the wind with our Ozone kites and one additional skisail.

Thanks to the kites we were able to cover 2215 km sea level to sea level in only 29 days and 5 h. And Narsaq to Qaanaaq in 31 days. Being lucky with our choices for the access to and the exit from the icecap, we were able to do the whole trip without further assistance, except boat transport from Narsaq to the starting point. And of course except the cup of tea offered by Lou and Mark when we met them as well as a finnish and a German expedition at Day 2 - it would have been a pity miss this one.

Long distance kiting is a pleasant way to travel on snow. The incredible power of the kites made us completely forget the weight of our pulks until we had to haul them again ourselves at the end. And it made us forget how far it actually is. We forgot the time: once beyond the arctic circle it was the wind that ruled our rythm. Only when our shadow had again nearly completed a full tour of us, we realize that an other day had passed.

We enjoyed the exotic pleasure to ski directly into the huge low sun - right north of us. Or in streams of driving snow with an orange glow in the low light. Or through a white ocean of frozen waves. Or just into white clouds of an endless nothing. Or through a dream of dry powder….

We had a good time out there kiting!
