Hey there! Here's my first handmade of the year for the new house - new home ::wink::
Finally got a chance to do something I love.
After move into new house, I got a new working station just for crafting. That is always my wish to get a big and comfortable working station, and full with all kinds of tools, embellishments, papers, etc, etc..

Big thanks to hubby for loving me. Let's dream together, because nothing happens unless first we dream.

Sweet Garden Wedding

It's been a while, I do not show up in my blog.
I just came back from Macau few days ago, and it was a really nice vacation with my sisters and best friend. Although we've gained a lot after the trip but we miss the good food there very much!

I attended my friend's wedding in September. It was a beautiful garden wedding in a beautiful Saturday morning. It was very unique where the garden was decorated with a lot of vintage stuffs which I love 'em so much. Of course, the bride and gloom were gorgeous and funny. I made them a small gift, hope they like it. Wishing them happily ever after... !

I'm glad that I can help her in expressing her love to the someone. I do wish they will happy forever...

This year Christmas we play a game in office which is named as 'Angel & Mortal'.
The game rule is pretty simple, each of us draw a name and we will be the Angel for that person. Therefore everyone is an Angel and at the same time a Mortal of someone ;-)
What an Angel suppose to do?

We keep a whiteboard to allow us to write anything on the board and tell our secret Angel what we wish to have. It's up to the Angel to decide how he/she wants to treat us every day. Your Angel could gives you a small candy cane on your morning, a piece of cupcake, or anything... but the Angel must keep his/her identity secretly.

It creates a lot of fun through out the week in the office when everybody started to guess who is their Angel and everyone becomes very careful when they wanted to place their surprise to their Mortal... LOL

It is really FUN~!!!

Dec 21 we will have an earlier Christmas Celebration lunch when we will tell the answer. Angel will prepare a gift - which is stated by the Mortal in the wish list.
I can't wait to know who is my Angel...

这是送给她的生日礼物之一。从构图，材料准备、裁剪，都花了一些时间，尤其是那些“红豆”。寻找、挑选、清洗，也得花上一些心思。

构图--把每一层的图案草拟在纸。剪下、重叠、调整。

将红豆沾上红心里，然后压紧、固定，避免红豆脱落。

大功告成！

我第一次做这类型的卡片。希望她喜欢。生日快乐。

It's been a while I didn't update this blog with any new things.

There were quite a lot of changes happened in office last month which more or less affect my working mood. Although work load is not as terrible as past, I still feel busy and tired everyday. Know what? There are 4 cards requests came in at about the same time. I doubt I have enough ideas or inspiration to complete them in time.

My ever first handmade of the year is this: a "Thinking of You" stand card. This card is special dedicated to my dearest colleague -- SzeNee who is now out of our sight but never out of our mind. I choose to use brighter color for those spiral roses, so you can easily get attracted by it!

;-)

There is a trick in the card.... you can actually pull the ribbon and a hidden bookmark will revive. To make the card more 3-D, I folded a card stock into triangle and uses three buttons to make a stand. Nothing else, and it looks as sweet as it already is!

Haha...

Perhaps I should do a tutorial of those spiral roses sooner or later as I found my colleagues love it very much. It's actually quite simple and easy.

I hope this card brings her sunshine and laughter. and also hope she will get well soon. To be frank, we all miss her very much...

这是简单而绝不可能失败的巧克力玛芬食谱！

This is a simple muffin recipe that has never failed! It turns out very tasty and chocolate lover should not miss this. It can be ready in 30 minutes so it's very convenience to those who are busy and has limited time to cook.

Okay, let's see what you should have at home to make these muffins. Below is the ingredients yield for 9 muffins

* INGREDIENTS *

1 cup wheat flour

面粉

1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon caster sugar

幼塘

3 tablespoons baking cocoa

可可粉

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

苏打粉

1/8 teaspoon salt

盐

1 egg

蛋

1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons sour cream

酸奶油

3 tablespoons water

清水

3 tablespoons milk

低脂牛奶

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

植物油

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

香草精

3 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips

巧克力片

* METHODS *

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

In another bowl, beat the eggs, sour cream, water, milk, oil and vanilla.

Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.

Fold in chocolate chips.

Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.

Give it a try this weekend. I am sure you will love it~

Yayayaaa... I know I know...
that's really not good for someone who wants to cut weight *me*

But I just can't control myself to love it ::sobs::

Steamed Caramel Pudding
ingredient:
- Caramel (A)-
3tbsp sugar
2tsp water
(dissolve sugar into water)
- Custard (B)-
350ml milk
(boiled and cooled)
2 eggs
4tbsp sugar
half tsp vanilla extract
Methods:
1. Heating and melting ingredient A until turn golden/dark brown.
Pour it immediately into a oven safe bowl/cup/tin
(You'll need to steam it later so make sure the container you're using can be put into the steamer) Keep aside.
2. To do custard, beat eggs and sugar well with hand mixer. Add milk and vanilla extract and beat again.
3. Pour the custard onto the bowl/cup/tin.
4. Prepare the steamer. Steam the pudding until wiggly texture
*can use a tooth-stick to test*
5. Put into refrigerator at least 30 minutes, or overnight for better taste.

Simple, isn't it?

and Sunday is Father's day!!!
Guess what? I can't go home - gotta stay in Penang :(

My parent will be away from Ipoh this weekend so no Father's day celebration, which also means no cake Duhh, my dessert has gone. ::sad::

Thought can try the new cheesecake from Secret Recipe...

Please don't get me wrong, I don't mean Father's Day is just a day that we can eat cake :P

Nvm, going to make one myself since I am so mad about it. So you just wait and see if I update any dessert pictures in any of my blog posts later.Haha.

No Father's day card in this post. Not going to make one. But I'll share you a strange conversation between me and my lovely Daddy yesterday during my lunch time.

(my phone was ringing - I am using " 21Guns" as my mobile ring-tones. And Ooooh, Daddy was calling me...)

Me: Halo, Dad? Anything? (Straight to the point. My Dad will not call me just for fun, not like my Mom does)

Dad: How to spell you full name?

Me:... (was stunned and don't know how to react)
Dad: Halo? (to make sure I am still on the phone)

Me: Dad, same surename as yours (Remember I am your daughter?!)

Dad: Ok. Your Name?

Me:... (I was thinking to call Mom later to complain about this)

Me: 'L' - 'I' - 'P' and 'L' - 'O' - 'O' - 'I'

Dad: Ok... (silent for a minute. I guess he's writing it down on a paper...)

Dad: your IC?

Me: Dad... Hmmmm... (not telling the numbers right away) Are you going to sell me??? (was kidding but a bit nervous still)

Dad: what's your IC number? (ignore my worries)

Me: xxxxxx-xx-xxxx (Sigh)

Dad: Ok then...

[conversation truncated]

In fact, I strongly feel that he would hang-up the phone if I didn't stop him and ask why...

Sure thing, he's not going to sell me *relived*

But I rang to my sister right away to tell her that our Dad actually forgot my name ::sobs::

As usual, there are laughter coming out of the phone. She just can't stop (Sigh again)

Wednesday was his farewell lunch;Thursday was his last day of work. He was one of my colleague the same team as I. Thank you for being a good guidance, mentor, colleague along the way - since I joined the team and I truly appreciate all the helps and supports given by him =)

It is sad to have someone left the team; it also means that we are losing someone in this big workplace family... I am sure we're going to miss him...

Uhmmm...ok, now back to the card...

I never made a farewell card before, so this is my ever FIRST farewell card. I forgot whose idea to ask everyone dress in blue on the farewell lunch. So I use the blue color as the theme for the farewell card as well.

Card Stock in light blue - folded in three; patterned paper - some leftover patterned paper I used in one of my winter holiday card; Martha Steward doily border punch; blue rhinestones at the bottom of card; Rubs-on from Cosmo Cricket - the {BYE} word is from a Rubs-on not hand writting; Clear stamp from Unity Stamp - the little tree

I used color pencil to color the tree and Tim Holtz stickles to bring-up the image * Blink Blink *.

Simple but sincere card, doesn't it *wink*

Dreamer's Dream

I know I have almost abandoned my lovely blog. It's been long time since I posted the winter Christmas cards. I made some paper craft once a while and I took the photo for each of them before I give them away -- sending my love away *wink*

I keep all photos inside my laptop and always think that I may have some time to post them all onto here...(someday, just don't know when :P)

Well,It's now year 2011 and It's a brand new year! It could be a lil' bit late to tell you my new year wish here as it's now already in March ::shy:: Still I want to say, life is always good so long as you look at the light side - that's my quote of the year :)

A friend of mine supports me with a simple word "Be Positive" when I throw him a frown face. Somehow that simple word gives me strength and positive charges when I feel stress out, and that also reminds me to give myself a smile. Sometimes we will never know our saying actually gives impact to ppl around us - either good or bad, even though it looks insignificant . Word of encouragement & compliments are things we need to give to all our friends and family that you'll never know when those sayings would help them build up their confidence and hopes and also keeping their smile on their face.

You may ask me: So what actually is your wish of the year?

Ooops Sorry, I forgot I was trying to tell you my wish of the year in the first place and now I jump to another topic...lol

We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving.
And we all have some power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.

I sent some greeting cards to my foreign friends every year in November to December. Sometimes I feel that making a greeting card is not as hard as you think -- if you had every materials get prepared then you are good. To make a simple Christmas card as below, you need to prepare:

A:- 3 Martha Stewart snowflake punches

B:- red & green threads tied with 2 lil' bells

C:- a reindeer card stock (reindeer clear stamp with black ink-pad)

D:- Christmas theme patterned paper (edge of paper was cut by using patterned scissors)

E:- a dark brown card stock (folded)

F:- a piece of music book (tears with hand)

All you need to do is arranging materials in the way you like ♪

And if you can get some stickers on it, it would be perfect~!! ;-)

Let It Snow!

I am back!

I spent two weeks in Dublin, Ireland on first visit and It was a business trip. It was a short notice and I had to be prepared for travel to Dublin within 3 days. Anyhow, it was a great experience that is my first time be in a winter season with a lil' bit of snow. The weather was freezing cold, so most of time I stayed in room :-P.

The trip to Dublin has delayed my greeting cards delivery to my foreign friends - I should have bring it to Dublin to post, but the time is too rush. And also, it delayed my Christmas post on this blog - this is really not an excuse, I swear...

Christmas is coming soon, on this coming weekend! I have to post something before it reached. I made a few Christmas greeting cards before I left Malaysia. It took some of my after-work time to get it done. In this post I;ve selected a card that suit the title - Let it Snow!!

All About Flowers - Thank You

It was a long weekend. My parents went to JB and so I can't back to Ipoh. I was planning to stay at Penang home alone however it was a surprise to see my sister on last Saturday. She came to Penang to visit me. Although it was only a few hours, she back to Taiping on the same day, I feel so glad to see her.

Speaking of which, I was starting my craft project again on Sunday. It was a gratitude card and I captured some photos while making it. This time I'm gonna make a tutorial here to show you how to do a simple Thank You card. The theme is flowers, because the recipient loves flowers - I think so. Here are materials we need to prepare for the tutorial:-

1. First thing you need to get is always card stock. You need a 6'' x 4.5'' greenish card stock (folded) and a piece of patterned paper in 5.5'' x 4'' - I used K&CO patterned paper.

2. Then you need some embellishments: a brown stitched ribbon in 6.5'' length, 2 mini gold brads, a frame die cut, some leaves die cuts, & some pink spiral roses.

3. Since this is a gratitude card, you need to get a "Thank You" clear stamp with a clear block and black ink pad.

After you had everything ready, you may start to make the card.

1. Adhere you clear stamp on the clear block. Gently dab the ink pad on the clear stamp and make sure the ink covers the whole image.

2. Position your block over the patterned paper and press it down with even pressure. Lift the block straight up and you’re done! Remember to clean the stamp with stamp cleaner afterward.

3. Put the mini brads on the die cut and adhere the die card on the stamp image with double sided tape. It should result as the image shown.

4. Adhere the leaves die cut around the frame.

5. Adhere spiral roses on the paper. You may use tweezers to hold it for convenience.

6. If you think roses are not enough, you can actually add on some fabric flowers & adhere rhinestone on the flowers.

7. Now you're almost done by tying the ribbon.

8. Finally, adhere the patterned paper on the card stock. And, taadaa.... this is the finished card.

I'm hereby to remind you thanksgiving day is coming soon, although this card is not meant for thanksgiving, don't forget to express your gratitude to your beloved family & friends.

October Card -- Congratulations

Well, I'd say this will be the only post in this month, because there are many things keep me busy and I dont even have time to take a breath. I'm so sorry.... As a recent update about myself, I am now carrying a heavy workload working long hours most of the time, sometimes it's fun and satisfying, but sometimes I feel like going crazy... And-Yes! I am really Crazy - Crazy busy!

Anyhow, I am glad that I completed this task which was given by my dear colleague YueMae. This simple request is to make a wedding greeting card! Although I've got a lot of work to do, I able to complete it while I was waiting a business user to reply my email in front of my desk. Since YueMae request to have a bigger card to fit in whole team members' signature and greetings, I decided to fold a piece of card stock into thirds, and folded the first side into half again, so the card can stand like a ladder and we have a wider area to write anything we like.

I used Martha Stewart doily border punches which is my most favorite punches to make two layers of doily lace at the bottom of the card. Then tie a ribbon with a mini handmade flower.

Using silver embossing powder to make the embossing effect for the 'Mr.&Mrs' print on a small card stock then put on some mini star brads and adhere it on the card. Although this is not my first time doing the embossing effect, still I am not did a good job. Some silver embossing powder went off the words. Also I used the clear stamp to stamp the Congratulations words - and put some glitter glue to make it looks glittering *^^*

It looks simple. You can try this & I bet you will like it ;-)

I Love Martha Stewart Punches

I know I blog very infrequently here but other authors in this blog are totally inactive as per expected (gosh...). I did some craft work the other day (perhaps few weeks ago?? I don't really remember when...) however I was not able to get my photo ready. I'm so sorry, but I promise, really, I will update it as soon as I have finished my edition to those photos, all right? *wink*

Today I am going to blog about Martha Stewart product. Yes, as you can see from the subject of this post, they're Martha Stewart punches!!

Well, Martha Stewart is a woman who is smart, intelligent, capable, passion in activities...blah blah blah..you can google Googles if you'd like to know more about her, above all, I admire her talents and her wonderful creativity, especially her craft ideas.

The first Martha Stewart craft product that I own is a border punch or I should say an edge punch? It is a "Punch Around the Page" set (set of two) with an edge corner and an edger. You can punch your paper corner first with edge corner and then use the edge punch to connect the pattern from corner to corner and it results a nice finish piece! Due to limited budget at that time, I only managed to get myself an edge punch at first. I got myself the edge corner the other day as well. I show you the finished piece with loops around the paper in the image below. Of course, there are many other choices of pattern which are totally fabulous!

You probably love to know where I bought these. I bought the combo and the embossed zig-zag border punch online and the doily edge border punch at Micheal's Craft & Art, ME, US. As per expected, buying from craft shop is cheaper than online (shipping fees is exp!!!), if you prefer touch and feel the items you'd really enjoy shopping in craft shop rather than online. Make sense?? xD

Mr. & Mrs - to have & to hold

I have bought a lot of craft materials during my business trip to Maine. My pocket seems to have a super big hole right now. Anyhow, I am satisfied with my luggage filled with patterned papers, clear stamps, stickers, punchers, scrapbooks... Awesome! ^^

Say of which, I still remember there's a wedding greeting card request came to me before I left Malaysia one month ago. I decided to complete the request yesterday with my brand new craft materials. It took about half an hour for me to figure out the design layout of the card. Arghhhh... I really need some inspiration!! The only requirement I am being told is that she prefer a 3D greeting card. So a good idea just came to me and the card came out as below ;P

I like my simple design on the front of the card. I use a white color card stock and a vintage patterned paper from K&COMPANY. Then I adhere three lil' roses and tie a ribbon on the card. The ribbon makes the card looks lovely. The doily punch at the bottom of the card is made with the new Martha Steward puncher I bought at Maine (The Christmas Tree Shop). That doily puncher was in my wish list :D
Finished size of the greeting card is 7''x 5.5''.

I try to make a simple 3D card with a bride and groom in it. I also used Tim Holtz small mask to make the distress ink effect. Here's the inner look of the greeting card :~

所以摸上去有凸起来的感觉

色纸的边边则用了Distress Ink

让纸张看起来旧旧的 :)
