Christmas is a time for happiness and for giving presents to the people close to our hearts. It is through this holiday period that we like giving and receiving presents to and from our nearest and dearest. Furthermore, each child is hopeful to receive presents this Christmas. Consequently, it would be fantastic for each of us to opt and give the ideal Christmas presents to people who are significant to us.

First step is to make a list of people who will receive Christmas presents from you, then allot a specific budget to that person. It is advisable to plan ahead to avoid the traditional Christmas rush. Sort out the interest of the people in your list. For instance, is there somebody on your list who is interested in books, photography, crocheting, and many more. If you see a saleable item months before Christmas time and you think it would be a potential present for anyone, then buy it if you have extra cash.

You can also make handcrafted presents if you have enough time and the necessary materials needed. Handmade gifts are always appreciated by most people. However, if you don’t have time to make handcrafted presents or is extremely busy to do shopping then search through the internet and look for gift items on sale. Always watch out for discounts. Check out for low-priced items but consider the quality as well.

If buying gift items for the kids such as toys, always consider the age group. There are specific toys and items that are only suitable for a specific age. Avoid toys that are geared towards violence such as guns and many others. Educational toys and activity books are the most recommendable gift items that you can give as Christmas presents to your children, as this facilitates learning and enhances skills. Clothes is also a good choice, however, you need to make sure that you are getting the right size for the kid.

In the instance that you are unsure as to what to give, then there is always the availability of gift certificates and cash. Though it seems less personal and uncaring, some people actually preferred it because they can buy something that they really wanted out of it. You can also give them a wallet with some cash in it.

Other than the material things, nothing defeats the gift of time and being there you can offer your family and loved ones during this Christmas season. You are always bogged down with your job the whole year round and this is the right time of the year to get a hold that much justifiable vacation with your family. Spend Christmas with your family on a getaway to a vacation spot over the weekend or take them to a fine, warm and welcoming restaurant for dinner.

It is fairly a test for each and every one of us to select the ideal Christmas presents for the people we love. But one thing is certain, all those doubts and pointless pressure vanishes into thin air when you see those big smile on their faces the instant they get a hold your Christmas presents.

The season of goodwill; a beautiful and spiritual time filled with magic, laughter and the gentle fall of snow across the ground. A time when families can while away hours together and really ponder the meaning of life. This might well the be the case, but it’s also likely that you’ll be having a fantastic party, surrounded by your favourite tipples, the best Christmas Gifts you can imagine and it will probably be chucking it down with rain outside. And even if it’s not, you’ll be lucky if your only glimpse of snow is not on a Christmas card.

But the poor quality of the weather, and the inability of Britain’s seasons to – quite frankly – get it right, shouldn’t bother you too much. You’ll be around those closest to you and you may well be enjoying a glass or two of Christmas wine, maybe even of the Personalised Christmas Wine kind.

There are many types and varieties available and they are – very appropriately – embossed with “Merry Christmas” on the front of the bottle. Best of all though, rather than the back of the bottle featuring an explanation of the weather enjoyed by the local vineyard – which will invariably be better than the weather outside of your cosy and snug home – it can instead feature a personalised message engraved right into the back of the bottle. And they even come with their very own gift box. So whether they’re Christmas Gifts for someone special, or something you’re buying for yourself to make a party go with even more of a bang, Personalised Christmas Wine is something to consider.

But Christmas is not just about parties; it is very much the time of year when loved ones show each other just how much they care and how much they mean to one another. So when you’re looking to let your loved one know, its good to get it right.

No matter how well you know someone, buying the perfect Christmas Gifts can be fraught with dangers, but it’s probably safe to say that you shouldn’t ever think of buying a blender (for her), or a pair slippers (for him). If you’re looking for the ideal Christmas Gifts for the lady in your life, why not think about opting for a 30-minute pampering treat? They offer the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind – and you can even make the gift that little bit more personalised by choosing the treatment you know she’ll enjoy the most.

And if you’re buying Christmas Gifts for a younger niece or cousin, why not treat them to a delicious six-pack of lip gloss? Called Naughty but Nice Lip Gloss, they’re delicious enough to sweeten up anyone’s day.

But what about Christmas gifts for him? Men are not so easy to buy for either. Is the man on your mind into cars, fine wines, cooking, or even gardening? There are plenty of Christmas Gifts to choose from that can tick each of those boxes – it is even possible to buy a Grow It Gift Box Cactus. How cool is that? – but if you’re still not sure, why not just head straight for a man’s heart and give him something to excite the palate? It doesn’t have to be wine; it could be a favourite Personalised Whisky, or a bubbling and crisp glass of Luxury Personalised Champagne for him.

But nothing really comes close to a bottle of wine that has the personal touch. The fruity flavours hit all of the right notes that can send anyone’s taste buds wild, and the presence of an engraved message of your choice really shows that you care. Which is pretty unique as a bottle of wine can tell a very different story. Rather like a bunch of flowers from a petrol station, a hastily bought bottle of wine can send out all of wrong messages; even if it doesn’t smell of diesel. So if you want to buy a gift that says “I’m thinking of you”, make it personal, make it elegantly wrapped and make it wine.

But once the gift has been chosen things don’t just end there, as there is also the message to consider. Do you want your Christmas Gifts message to convey sentiments of love? Of friendship? Or something that really conveys the deep spiritual meaning of Christmas that goes far beyond the physical expression that is the gift itself? Don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to decide.

By John Smith Christmas is the time of year for cold weather, snow, mistletoe and beautiful Christmas Gifts exchanged around a roaring log fire. Where a traditional dinner is served, and you get to tuck into family favourites such as roast turkey, Christmas pudding and a rich cake encased in deliciously sweet marzipan and icing. Or is it? Christmas could equally be about spending time in the sun, where a traditional dinner consists of food suitable for a barbeque and fit for a king; maybe some fish, or some steaks all sizzling away alongside some freshly caught tuna. Perhaps this barbeque takes place on a beach, so while your food is cooking, you can spend a little time swimming in the sea, or relaxing in the sun and working on your tan. It certainly sounds a lot more attractive to a rainy day somewhere, where your time working on Christmas dinner is spent watching some of television's 'golden moments'.
Christmas is the time of year for cold weather, snow, mistletoe and beautiful Christmas Gifts exchanged around a roaring log fire.

It certainly sounds a lot more attractive to a rainy day somewhere, where your time working on Christmas dinner is spent watching some of television’s ‘golden moments’.

Either way, however you decide to spend this coming Christmas – and both scenarios are equally appealing in their own unique way – it is important to make sure that the Gifts match the occasion. Essentially, if you’re spending Christmas in the sun, friends and family members are not really going to maintain excitement levels at their peak as they unwrap a woollen jumper and a cosy scarf – although they might prove useful when returning to the UK, along with a self-help book on beating the post-holiday blues.

So what would be suitable? Well, Christmas Gifts for sun seekers could revolve around a favourite sport or hobby? If the recipient likes swimming, then ideal Christmas Gifts could be either a White Water Rafting Experience Day, or even some time spent surfing with a Surfing Experience gift Pack.

If the white water rafting sounds like a swimmingly good idea, it is worth bearing in mind that all rafting trips are dependent upon sufficient water levels and that all events come with both tuition and talks on safety. All this aside, white water rafting is a thrilling adventure that will give the recipient of your gift the unforgettable thrill of travelling along either natural or man-made rapids; it really is the gift of a lifetime.

Surfing is another pastime that make an ideal Christmas Gift for someone with an inclination towards more sporty pursuits. Even for a complete beginner, with a little bit of balance and determination, surfing is an exciting way to spend a day – or even a few hours – and it’s pretty safe to say that the first-ever surfed wave is definitely the most memorable.

But what about Christmas in not so sunny locations? Well, it doesn’t mean that the Gifts have to be any less appropriate and there really is no need to fall back on the more obvious choices, just because the sun is taking a nap. Paintball, ice climbing and even microlighting are all fun experience day gifts that can be enjoyed however inclement the weather.

Paintball is amazing fun and gives the person you’re thinking about – and a co-participant of their choice – the opportunity to act out any action hero fantasies they might have; quite literally, it’s almost like schoolyard cops and robbers, but for adults. The Paintballing for Two Experience Day event is perfectly safe and it’s a great way to run around a muddy and woody area using non-lethal force – after all, it’s only paint – to overcome your enemy. Naturally, all participants will be given full training and guidance before the fun begins.

For winter sport fans, Ice-climbing for Two events offer the thrill of mountaineering, but none of the dangers. This Christmas Gifts idea comes with plenty of one-on-one tuition and the lucky participant gets a whole 40 minutes to pit their wits against the wall.

A Microlighting Flight Experience Day Gift Pack is a perfect Christmas Gifts option for the more adventurous, and while it’s ideally suited to Britain’s spring and summer months, so long as the weather is stable enough, it doesn’t really matter when you fly. All participants will be given all the help and training they need, and the actual flight will take place with the help of an instructor. And because the planes come with dual-controls, it’s even possible to have a go yourself; just make sure you dress up warmly as, no matter how good the weather on the ground, up there it’s going to be a little bit nippy. Not only does the craft fly up to a total of 1,500 feet, but the cockpit is also entirely open. Exciting stuff!

By John Smith At Christmas time, being tacky and filling our homes with kitsch, is excusable. Colourful lights, various ornaments and mistletoe provide a joyful environment for us to hide our Gifts under the Christmas tree.
At Christmas time, being tacky and filling our homes with kitsch, is excusable. Colourful lights, various ornaments and mistletoe provide a joyful environment for us to hide our Gifts under the Christmas tree. Above all, preparing for Christmas feeds our anticipation for when it finally arrives – along with the gifts! Decorations create an atmosphere that makes us feel warm and at home with loved ones. Hanging ornaments on the Christmas tree is often considered an enjoyable activity with the family. In some cases, people will create their own decorations or gifts, with the help of their artistic skills! Different households have different methods of decorating their homes. Some rely on typical objects such as lights, ornaments and Santa figures while others shy away from them. They may wish to be less over-the-top and subtly decorate their homes with a few vintage ornaments. However one question remains, why do we decorate in the first place? After some research we have come to the following conclusions:

Why people decorate their entire homes beside just the tree has several interpretations. Most of these traditions originate from hundreds of years ago when winter time was viewed as a time for celebration. The Christmas tree for example derives its history from the Germans who honoured these evergreen trees. The first time a tree was decorated inside, was by Martin Luther who displayed it with lights and put Christmas gifts underneath it. Holly is another example of am evergreen plant that is utilised for decoration and given as gifts at Christmas time, but some people believe that it also has religious connotations. Originating from the Pagans, mistletoe represents elements of the Christian religion and still symbolises fertility. Christmas Cards are considered to have originated from Britain in the 19th century due to increasing speed in mail delivery and flourishing technology. Over time the idea of Christmas decorations and gifts expanded. This means Christmas trees and Holly are not all that is displayed during the winter holiday period. Stockings, figures, banners, candles, seasonal gifts from previous years and the likes are brought out as well. Besides being for appearance purposes, such decorations may also be hand crafted by many creative individuals. If you have children, making Christmas decorations and hanging them up will help keep them busy and entertained as they wait to unwrap their Gifts

Christmas decorations whether bought or crafted do not always have to be tacky or old-fashioned. They can be tasteful, contemporary or classic. For example ornate Christmas decorations made from polished glass, such as the 12 Days of Christmas. Not only do they make lovely gifts but can be hung on a Christmas tree as well. Being made from glass, makes these precious ornaments special and unique to be re-used every year or given away to loved ones as Christmas gifts.

For those who are more creative minded, you can create your own Christmas cards to give along with your gifts. To make it easy, gift card materials can be acquired in sets and kits with different themes such as Santa’s Grotto, Vintage Moments, ‘Noel Noel’ and so on. Each of them include 5 cards and envelopes with appropriate decorations that can be assembled in any way you like

Similarly a kit to make your own Christmas Crackers is a useful way to disguise some gifts at Christmas time. It provides a fun way to unwrap gifts and keep the family entertained in the evening. It makes up to 6 crackers with snaps, ties, coloured hats and labels. They are easy to make and therefore provide another opportunity to do something creative with your friends or relatives during Christmas time. Novelty gifts such as these are always well received

A Vintage Christmas Stocking allows for further classical Christmas decorations and gifts. Made of cotton, it has an embroidered message and plenty of room for gifts and toys. Particularly for impatient children, it can be used for some preliminary Christmas gifts a few days in advance.

We may never know what exactly made human kind decide to decorate the way we do at Christmas time. Perhaps it really was religion and history that sparked these traditions. None the less, we must admit that we love these tacky ornaments, colourful kitsch and millions of lights that we must dig out of our cellars and display annually. Let us not forget the fun we have when creating our own Christmas decorations, cards and Gifts from various materials. It gives us another reason to spend some time with our friend and families during the hectic winter holidays.

Contrary to what you might think when listening to older relatives recount stories of past Christmases – you know the ones, where they tell you about the good old days and explain that things are not quite like what they used to be – the festive season has indeed changed. Things are not the way they used to be, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. After all, wouldn’t it be terrible if things always stayed the same?

With all the talk of oil prices and climate change, the most visible difference must surely be the weather. There once was a time when the British Isles actually had recognizably distinct seasons, where summer would bring long sunny days and the winter months would bring bracing cold weather. A time where you could virtually guarantee more than a smattering of snow. You could literally bet money – and be confident of winning – on Christmas Day being coated in a beautiful and sparkling frosting of snow.

And no doubt, that seasonal regularity definitely made it easier to choose Christmas Gifts. It was cold, so gloves, scarves, mittens and heavy coats were very much in demand, and you could pretty much guarantee that any friend or loved-one would be delighted by Christmas Gifts that, not only helped them stay warm, but also let them play around in the snow.

But, as we said, times have indeed changed. Your Gran was right. Just because it’s Christmas, it no longer means it’s going to be cold, or snowing. It could be raining – probably worth placing money on that – or it could be sunny. Whereas in the past, the person up in the sky who decided upon the weather used to plan well in advance, the trend nowadays really is to just see what takes his or her fancy on the day, and conjure up something accordingly.

And while all this is fine, it makes things a little less straightforward when choosing Christmas Gifts. It’s not necessarily going to be cold – so at least you’re probably safe from the almost iconic hand-knitted jumper, complete with a tactile reindeer motif – so you can’t be sure that the previous repertoire of Christmas Gifts is really going to cut the mustard.

So, in order to make sure that friends and family members really are chuffed when they unwrap their presents on the big day – which, depending upon the exact Christmas tradition you follow, could either be on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day – it’s good to plan strategically. Take mum, for example; you don’t want to resort to either a cliche, or the same kind of thing that you’ve bought in the past. Mums deserve a bit of thought, style, sophistication and above all, mums deserve Christmas Gifts that let them know how much you care.

For mums who love their photographs, that message could be conveyed with a Number 1 Mum Frame. This beautiful silver frame not only spells out, in no uncertain terms, exactly how important your mum is, it also offers the perfect opportunity to put some precious and treasured memories on display, which is exactly where they should be. Another Christmas gift for Mums with similar sentiment is the I Love My Mummy Mug and Frame Set. Potentially ideal for younger gift givers, this choice gives mum the perfect opportunity to enjoy a favourite picture with a relaxing cuppa. Lovely stuff.

That perfect Gifts for dad should also be given extra special thought. Because times have changed, most dads will be looking for a little more excitement that one would usually find in a multi-pack of socks and a bottle of aftershave. When making the final decision, it’s good to think along the lines of excitement, passion and adventure – and then book your dad onto a Rally Rush Experience Day.

So long as your dad doesn’t have any heart problems and is below a specified weight limit, the Rally Rush Experience Day really is the perfect Christmas gift. Not only will dad get more than one car session of approximately eight to ten minutes each, he will also get to ride shotgun whilst a professional shows the car exactly who’s boss. It really is two hours of non-stop action and excitement that will give your dad a Christmas to remember – and I bet it’s not something your grandparents would have considered doing all those years ago. But then, after all, things have changed and cars are much faster these days.

How can you tell if mum is genuinely happy with her Christmas gift? Only you can answer that because you know your own mother better than anyone else so therefore asking a friend or shop assistant for advice, in a nice sort of way, should be ignored. However in saying this does not mean that their Christmas gift ideas are not helpful. All mothers are fabulous actresses where their talent for showing false emotions comes to the fore on Christmas day when they falsely acclaim to love the present you bought when out Christmas shopping; most mums facial smile is their for your protection so you do not get hurt. If mum were to show displeasure how would you feel, so let us put the shoe on the other foot and consider her feelings this Xmas by not having her take on a false identity pretending to be something she is not “Happy”

When will mums stop this pretence, sadly a mum will do her best not to hurt her kids and if this means storing another ornament or tea set in the cupboard or piling on those excess pounds with Christmas gifted chocolates then the pretence will prevail forever.

Giving mum the perfect Christmas gift what will guarantee a true beaming smile after her present from under the Christmas tree is unwrapped, is to find out her likes and dislikes before hand. Sadly in many cases not many children are aware of what mum enjoys likes or hates and it is because of this that so many gifts are discarded and sent into exile where they are never used or seen again.

Who was it that said it is the thought that counts, well this is true and a non debateable argument, however, it still has to be what mum really wants to make her Christmas a happy one too because, after all mum goes out of her way to find out well in advance to what it is you would like to be given on Christmas day.

Mums perfect Christmas gift is not about expense, e.g. diamonds, fur coat, or new car, if it is not what mum wants then how can you expect her to be pleasingly elated. What you need to do is to probe discreetly, meaning, find out more about her, ask dad for help because no doubt along the way at some time she may have showed discontentment about her knitting machine going on the blink or her bathroom scales are out so therefore she can not keep check on her weight or the heel has broke on her favourite shoes or how she would love to be able to afford that new frock or fragrance from Avon. Listen and learn and from this you can expect positive alerts to purchasing the perfect Christmas gift for mum.

Although the above mentioned were just snippets on how to probe or snoop if you like, were just suggested in a way to enlighten you on how to get your Christmas gift ideas not only for mum but other members of the family too. When gathering information this way be careful so as not to let the cat out of the bag so as to speak – otherwise your intended surprise maybe uncovered and on top of that others may become suspicious and see you as a nut case if your probing is not suited to a particular timing.

For example:

If mum is cooking a Sunday roast do not ask what type of shoes she likes wearing, but if mum is browsing a magazine or catalogue then this is a great time. If mum is doing the laundry this too is not the time to ask about perfume and fragrances, but if mum has just got out of the bath/shower then this could be a good time to start talking about smellies if you get my drift. If you tactfully confront mum this way then you get all the information you need.

Mums are special so why not treat them to a special Christmas this year. Give your mum a heartfelt hug a warm lingering kiss on the cheek so she need act no more in making you believe she is genuinely happy. Regardless of the Christmas wrapping paper, tinselled bows and ribbons enveloping a Christmas gift it will never please a mother as much as having her child up close smothering her with so much love and affection; of course this is reciprocated because this is what mums do.

Christmas dinner – Are you struggling to make ends MEAT. Well fret not because, this is the season to be jolly for the whole family. How can you fill the bellies of all who sit round the Christmas table with knife and fork in hand on a budget? Christmas dinner for those on a tight budget can still be extra special. Whether you paid less for a turkey, goose, or duck than that of your neighbour next door – will not make their Xmas food anymore more tasty or scrumptious than what you paid for your Christmas roast. As a matter of fact with what you saved on the pennies you can add extra Christmas novelties i.e. Christmas crackers, party poppers and a bottle of wine making your Christmas feast – into a Christmas banquet?

How you and your family can eat well on Christmas day and any other over the Christmas period on a budget. What you need to do the next time you are out shopping is – change you’re spending habits. How many of you have picked up a fresh turkey or a lump of gammon thinking that the joint of meat is a well over their budget? Well a little advice, for those extra pennies it is well worth thinking ahead to Boxing Day etc. For example, if roast pork is your chosen meat to accompany your roast parsnips, sugared sprouts and creamed potatoes then it will also accompany the Christmas vegetables for the next day and the day after that and that, depending on the size of the joint of meat.

If the bird freshly killed (Turkey) is large – then better still because – Roast turkey and stuffing for Christmas dinner on December the 25th followed by Turkey pie on Boxing Day, then following that – turkey kebabs, cold turkey sandwiches and a turkey stew made from the carcass. So you see my point for those extra pennies you get to eat every day. Buying a smaller bird to roast from the butcher like duck, goose or pheasant – will only mean that when Christmas dinner is over – you then have to buy another meat joint for each day after that – thus making your budget even tighter, so less money to spend on Christmas gifts.

Spruce up the Christmas dinner table with a new colourful dinner set. The dinner set could be a gift to yourself or from a partner, hence one again more savings on the pennies, (killing two birds with one stone) i.e. you get a present as well as the opportunity to use the gift to make the food on the table look even more yummy and appetizing. Make your own table centrepiece with nuts, edible cherries and a candle so that nothing goes to waste. Excite all the dinner guests around the table by placing name tags to where everyone is to sit, this will save any fighting between the kids when it is time to eat. The tags can be made by you, use a little glitter to pretty them up so that the guests can keep them as a memento.

More money can be saved at Christmas by staying at home in the evening and watching the telly – and what better way than with a stuffed belly.

Christmas is the season of goodwill gestures – so happy Christmas everyone
