Burger King apology to Hindus for advert

Burger King has been forced to apologise to Hindus after it showed a revered Indian goddess with a ‘forbidden’ Whopper burger. The fast food chain quickly withdrew the advertisement from its stores in Spain after Hindus across the world complained at the denigration of their religion. The advertisement shows a picture of Lakshmi, the Indian goddess of wealth, above one of the burgers, which are forbidden under Hindu religion. Full Story : Telegraph.co.uk…..

64% of Americans Say Media Overplayed Michael Jackson Story

Nearly two in three Americans said news organizations gave too much coverage to the sudden death of Michael Jackson in the days following his June 25 heart attack in Los Angeles, according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. While 64 percent deemed media attention to the 50-year-old pop superstar excessive, 29 percent thought it was appropriate and only 3 percent thought there was not enough coverage. Google OS May Force Microsoft to Reinvent Windows

Google’s Chrome OS won’t be an immediate threat to Windows, but it may force Microsoft to reinvent its operating system more quickly into a product that takes full advantage of the Web and can move more nimbly across devices and form factors, analysts said. Microsoft is unlikely to have been surprised by Google’s announcement late Tuesday that it is working on a new OS for people who “spend most of their time on the Web,” as Google described it. Snoring Condition Hereditary?

According to research published in the journal “Chest” children with at least one parent who snored are 3 times more likely to snore themselves (compared to children whose parents did not snore). Snoring may be a sign of another problem known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA. OSA can cause your breathing to stop during sleep because the air passages are being blocked. Snoring is an audible sign of a difficulty with breathing, but at least it is breathing. Cyber attackers target South Korea and US

North Korean hackers are suspected of launching a cyber-attack on some of the most important government offices in the US and South Korea in recent days, including the White House, the Pentagon, the New York Stock Exchange and the presidential Blue House in Seoul. The attack took out some of South Korea’s most important websites, including those of the Blue House, the defence ministry, the national assembly, Shinhan bank, Korea Exchange bank and the top internet portal Naver. Microsoft warns of serious computer security hole

Microsoft Corp. has taken the rare step of warning about a serious computer security vulnerability it hasn’t fixed yet. The vulnerability disclosed Monday affects Internet Explorer users whose computers run the Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software. It can allow hackers to remotely take control of victims’ machines. The victims don’t need to do anything to get infected except visit a Web site that’s been hacked. Security experts say criminals have been attacking the vulnerability for nearly a week. Thousands of sites have been hacked to serve up malicious software that exploits the vulnerability. Freshwater fish are an important part of the diet of many peoples around the world, but it has been unclear when fish became an important part of the year-round diet for early humans. A new study by an international team of researchers, including Erik Trinkaus, Ph.D., professor of anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, shows it may have happened in China as far back as 40,000 years ago. Analysis of a bone from one of the earliest modern human in Asia, the 40,000-year-old skeleton from Tianyuan Cave near Beijing, has shown that at least this individual was a regular fish consumer. Coffee Drinking delays Alzheimer’s says new Study

Coffee has been already linked to be of some sorts a protection against Alzheimer’s, but the new study actually shows that caffeine has more impact against this nasty disease. Researchers from the University of South Florida studied 55 mice that developed Alzheimer’s like dementia and then got feed with caffeine spiked water aka Red Bull. A test group of the mice got just water. The Coffee drinking mice were performing a lot better on tests of memory and thinking than mice given water. Another Study Links Fluoride to Bone Cancer

Blood fluoride levels were significantly higher in patients with osteosarcoma than in control groups, according to research published in Biological Trace Element Research (April 2009). Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, occurs mostly in children and young adults.
