TOWTL is a new rom-com I’m attempting, where an empty-nester finally gets to live a life separate from raising her children, moves to a new city, gets a new job. But to protect herself from intimacy -that she’s terrified of- she declares that she will only date if its one of the five celebrities from her ‘hall-pass list.’ Thinking obviously that this will protect her from ever having to get close to someone new. Then, in true rom-com fashion, she meets every single one of them. 

I’m struggling with BOTH. 

So, out of pure escapism and procrastination, I started playing in old files I have saved in my WRITING folder on Dropbox. 

Which brings me to my point: Back in 2021, I wrote perhaps 100,000 random words for a book that I dubbed The Unawakened. There was absolutely no rhyme or reason, no outline or beat sheet whatsoever. Just and idea. Reading through them today, it wasn’t bad. The idea or what I had written. Without that experience I don’t think I would have been able to sit down and mold The Sun Before it Rises – AND the Star Before it Falls – into anything remotely book shaped.

Below is one of the first things I remember writing. Before reading you should know that my heart has always lived in the paranormal/horror genre. (Where I got the gumption to write not one, but TWO, science-fiction dystopias… I have no idea.) The book is about five women from different corners of the world who find their power, but only once they’re all together. Also, there’s a man. (Lol)

I don’t want to be his princess, pretty and pristine.

I want to his queen, ripped and bleeding spread before him on an altar.

I want to taste the dirt and sweat upon his skin, grit on my tongue.

I want to run my fingers through his pelt and feel the rage of his skin under my palms.

I want to stand beside him on his throne, with a crown of thorns upon my brow. 

I don’t want a pretty life with pretty things.

I want something real that hurts.

On the book front, I am currently waiting for all my beta readers to report back on BOOK ONE to make the last round of editing. In the meantime I’ve been putting off editing BOOK TWO (insert crying face). While also working on my query letter (insert ANOTHER crying face), and stalking literary agents on query tracker. (LOL)

I can’t wait to share it with you all! Please stay tuned…

Hey there! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?

I just wanted to drop in and let you all know what has been going on, and some of the changes being made at So Beautifully Broken.

There is a bit of a re-brand going on, I’m sure you’ve seen a few changes on the website and socials media accounts.

The biggest, and probably most alarming, is that I’ve decided to step back from Jewelry. It was not an easy choice, as jewelry has been my entire life for well over fifteen years. I still have some items listed on the website and I will be dropping into the group periodically with a sale. AND I’m sure I’ll get a wild idea and have to drop everything and make that come into existence, but as of right now the jewelry side of So Beautifully Broken will be on pause. As far as the shop, I will still have all of our nerdy and bookish tee’s available!

The reason for this, you ask?

I have always wanted to write.

I have a list of book ideas that has been ongoing for a decade. Last fall, I had a dream. I thought, “That would make a great book.” So I added it to my list and moved on. Or I tried to. I couldn’t let it go.

So when we got back form Italy in early October, I sat down and started writing.

Five weeks later I had 131,000 words and a really rough first draft. It was a very emotional experience, the finishing of it. I’m tearing up write now just typing this out.

I took a much needed break from it over the holidays, then after our annual March girls trip, I picked it back up.

In April, I started editing, AS WELL AS drafting and writing BOOK TWO in the trilogy. After many, MANY, rounds of editing, not only by me but several very good friends —who well get an entire dedication page if this series ever makes it to publication— I sent BOOK ONE off to beta readers last week.

The plan, DREAM, is to start querying literary agents in an attempt to get traditionally published.

I would love for you to continue on this journey with me, though the path is different, the creativity is very much still me and everything So Beautifully Broken has represented over the last seventeen years.

Hi everyone! I’m Vivian…also known to friends as Jeep Girl, Wolf Girl, Teacher Ninja, Animal Rescuer, Keto Girl, and Rae Dunn Hunter…lol.  I have so many interests so my Instagram page is full of everything A-Z.  I love the Colorado scenery and mountains, I love hiking and photography, I am a Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Marvel Comics nerd, and I believe in magic, mermaids, and fairies! I am also a foster (fosture failure) for the Colorado Greyhound Adoption and I also have a National Dog Mill Rescue pup.

I have been a brand rep for So Beautifully Broken for a few months now.  So Beautifully Broken was the first brand I have ever tried becoming a rep for simply because I love the brand!  I have always loved posting pictures of Terri’s beautiful pieces whenever I get a new one  (which is usually every week…lol).  I was very excited to be chosen to become one of the So Beautifully Broken brand reps!  I had never been an official brand rep before, but I have definitely been enjoying every moment of being a brand rep so far! 

One of the best aspects of being a brand rep has been getting to know and following the other amazing girls on Instagram who are also brand reps.  I enjoy following their pages and posts as well as working with them to come up with ideas for new pieces.  I love wearing and photographing the So Beautifully Broken jewelry that I have and I feel like I need a she shed just to display all of my beautiful pieces that I have acquired!  I also love supporting Terri and her small business and love how she finds such amazing pieces and materials to work with when she creates and repurposes all of her jewelry!  I started off getting lots of Jeep jewelry pieces, but some of my favorite pieces are the rosary pieces, genuine gemstone pieces, and the Saint medallions.  I have expanded my pieces to just about everything now.  I cannot even begin to express how much I love her jewelry and brand…but I can definitely show you in photos!
