Without further adieu, we share with you one of our recent Luxe Weddings, the wedding of Jenn + Jake. Remember we shared a little sneak peek from their photographer, Nick Radford a bit ago and promised to share more. As this was one of our very favorite Luxe Weddings to date. In part because the couple was so incredible to work with and for. They made the last year of designing and coordination with them a true delight and we miss them so much...but are sincerely happy for them both! MARRIED and so in love...Check out the details. They are truly original, creative, romantic.

Jenn has such style, she opted for a serious of long sparkling necklaces instead of just one and it really set her a part from the ordinary bride.

Jenn remembered her late grandparents but adorning her bouquet with little photo charms.

When we suggested a non-floral boutonniere for the men and they agreed it a good idea we sent them a list of links of lapel pins we thought might fit the mold of their design well. It was a fun day in the office when Jenn sent us the link to the one they picked, the gold stag head was our favorite too.

The groomsmen wore black and white stripe pocket squares and the Groom a black and white stripe tie the matched the bride's bouquet ribbon perfectly.

Bridesmaid dresses were infinity dresses, they were a great choice as each maid got to choose her own fit.

The children walked the aisle with hand made banners that read "Uncle Jake, Here Comes Your Bride!", it was precious to say the least.

The ceremony was gorgeous, one of our favorite parts about the whole design was the altar. We staged the couple up on a platform draped in black linen and a sea of blush and ivory petals and floating candles created an ambient flicker. We designed a double sheer backdrop made up of clean white sheer drapes and adorned with pieces of mirror, chandelier crystals, mercury glass coupled with cascading sashes of satin ribbon in blush, gold and ivory. All the ribbons were cut at different lengths to create texture and depth. White up lights finished the look and created a heavenly like glow.

Above them we hung an antler chandelier to complete the look. Northwest hunter meets his romantic contemporary bride...

To create their "lounge like" look we rented from the Soho Collection from Blush Furniture. A series of white leather tuft sofas, benches and glass tables. It gave the room a very cosmopolitan vibe.

Once the ceremony was complete we turned their altar into their head table area and affixed a glittering gold "Jenn & Jake" sign to the table with a white stag head and their bridesmaids bouquets, petals and tons of candles.

Jenn & Jakes' chevron wedding cake was inspired by seeing a similar cake on display at our winter wedding event, Marry ME!, which is the NW's only wedding cake showcase...from there they met cake designer, Jen of Simply Sweets and she custom designed a special cake just for them.

The entire night was a blast and the year of planning with them was truly a dream. We wish we could do it all over again and again...but her dad said nope, never again. *wink. Here we are at the end of the night, Jenn, Jake and Misty, the owner of Luxe Event Productions.

We couldn't possibly pulled all this off without the collaboration of some amazing wedding pros. Special thanks to Vibrant Table Catering and Events for working along side us the entire time, ensuring our Luxe Bride received the red carpet treatment.

We love the idea of using vintage furniture in some aspect of your wedding, it adds charm and whimsy with very little effort. Not always easy to find pieces but once found and used they can can be really impactful. Tell us what type of services you offer?

We’re a studio florist focused on creating exceptionally beautiful décor for weddings, events and subscription deliveries (aka weeklies/monthlies.) For weddings and events we help clients with all things floral as well as coordinating rental and décor items such as linens, chairs, lighting, etc.

What type of weddings do you love the most?

One of things I love about weddings is getting to work with different themes and cultures in different spaces. I think the variety helps to keep creativity flowing and also keeps my job interesting! With that said, I really do love it when clients make the most of in season blooms. The Pacific Northwest grows some of the most gorgeous flowers I’ve ever seen and so to make most of April’s lily of the valley, June’s peonies, August’s dahlias, etc, is really fun because I know the client and their guests are going to be impressed.Left photo by: Bejamin Edwards Photography, Right by: Paul Rich Studio

How did you become a floral designer?

Flowers have been a big part of my life for my whole life. I have precious memories of visiting fields of wildflowers with my grandma when I couldn’t have been more than 4 (she passed away when I was 5) and hours upon hours were spent making and passing out daisy chains at my big brother’s little league games. My mom gave me a garden that I took care of my entire childhood and I got my first job as a florist while in college.

My first “real” experiences with adult independence and responsibility came when I moved to London to work for Mary Jane Vaughan. Later on, my career also led me to move to Boston to work for Winston’s flowers. I started my business in 2005 when I was old enough to have some pretty amazing experience under my belt and young enough to not yet realize (or care) how much I had left to learn. I’ve said before that I think I got a job in a flower shop because I love flowers but I decided to become a professional florist when I realized how flowers affect people’s emotions.

As a florist I get to be there for the lowest lows and the highest highs of my clients lives. I get to bring nature and beauty to those moments and to help enhance memories that reflect that beauty. It’s an incredible honor, a lot of fun and something that I feel I’m honestly quite good at.

How does your consultation process work?

Most often clients will come in to the studio and we’ll go through their ideas together. I always ask clients to do a little homework beforehand and bring in colors and pictures of décor and flowers they love.

We’ll talk through options and then I’ll type up a proposal that has itemized descriptions and prices.

We’ll then tailor and adjust that proposal until it’s perfect both stylistically and budget wise. If clients are out of town we’ll have a similar process but just do it over phone, email and/or skype.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Lots of different places! Nature, fashion, interior design, and European floral blogs are all huge influences and sources of inspiration. For most of my wedding and event work clients come in with favorite colors, flowers, the dress, etc, so that will really lead the way. We then come up with unique and fun ways to play off those ideas to help express their personal style.

I want to book you to create my dream wedding, how do I start the process?

I like to make sure the proposal is tailored pretty closely to where it will end up before contracts are signed. I’ll then send over a contract outlining our payment and rental policies. Mail in the contract and retainer and we’re all set!

What are your top 5-10 tips for brides and grooms regarding their floral on the day of?

1. Before you meet with florists have your date, venue and (tentative) colors selected. You’ll be saving yourself a ton of time and stress if you don’t have to start over with all different proposals. Plus, pricing can vary dramatically for certain flowers and colors season to season.

2. When looking for inspiration for flowers tear out and/or pin anything that you’re drawn to. Don’t worry about it being exactly right. You can then sort images by colors, shapes/styles, etc. More is better in my opinion when it comes to showing a florist inspiration photos.

3. Do what you love and want! Don’t worry about trends.

4. At the initial consultation tell and show the florist what you REALLY want. If you think it’s going to be way beyond your budget that’s okay. I’d rather start out knowing what your dream is and then edit if necessary than go with something that you know you’re not going to be in love with from the start.

5. Be open to your florist’s suggestions about types of flowers, styles, etc. Know your priorities. I love it when clients come in and say that they have a specific color scheme/feel but are open to specific flowers, or, on the flip side, love a certain type of flower but are open to color suggestions.

6. If you’re worried about what your centerpieces are going to look like then ask to have a mockup. It’s an easy process and very, very common.

7. Most importantly find a florist that you like and trust. It will make the whole process much more relaxing and fun!

What trend are you loving right now?

I’m actually loving that we’ve got so many different trends and styles on board for the summer 2012 wedding season! We’ve got everything from woodsy greens to plum ombre to glamorous white. It’s going to be really gorgeous and fun!

Incorporating Video into your Wedding day and Beyond

We've been holding on to this little gem for a bit now...had to wait until the big reveal on their wedding day before we could share just how cute our clients are. Below is the engagement video our Luxe Bride Jenn had created for her ceremony. It just added a bit more depth to their already precious and meaning ceremony and it's just adorable to watch and learn how they fell in love and met. Their love story video was played as the opening of their ceremony. Guest ooo'd, awe'd and giggled while they watched and fell in love...

We are HUGE videography fans here at Luxe and just love when a couple incorporates video into their day. It's a lasting piece of time that you will be able to show your children and your children's children, for a lifetime.

Today's Real NW Wedding was shared with us by Eugene Wedding Photographer Erika-Nicole and like most engaged couples Suzanne & Chris were anticipating their big day to come for over a year and with much excitement their day had finally arrived and Erika was there to capture it all. You should read her description about the couple on her blog, it's really sweet.

These two lovebirds hosted their big day that the Inn at Diamond Woods in the heart of Central Oregon. It proved to be a magnificent back drop for their colors of white, pink, khaki and pops of bright purple.

Suzanne looked stunning in a Alfred Angelo strapless gown. Simple styling and fresh makeup really made this bride glow as she's a natural beauty.

Ahh we just love when dogs are "in" the wedding! The bride & groom were accompanied down the aisle by their lovable pooch and handwritten vows made this ceremony extra special.

Suzanne & Chris, thank you so much for sharing your special day with us! You two seem truly in love and we know your marriage will last a lifetime. Congrats!

Not sure where to start with this post...there are so many incredible things to say about the couple I could go on and on forever!

You see, we had the pleasure of meeting Jenn almost a year ago and from the very first day we met Jenn and her family we knew it was a perfect fit. Jenn's entire family were wonderful really supportive, incredibly loving, caring, helpful, inquisitive and most of all they were just overjoyed to help Jenn plan the wedding of "her" dreams.

Jenn had some really pretty ideas from the get go and over the course of the past year we watch her wedding evolve into what was one of the most gorgeous Luxe Weddings ever!

Hosted at Leftbank Annex and catered by Vibrant Table, it was the type of weddings dreams are made of, and it was truly an honor to be trusted with the design and coordination of such a special day for them.

Jenn's romantic and eclectic style shown through every aspect of their day; and we honestly can't wait to share the images with you. From her chevron/ombre inspired cake designed by Simply Sweets to her non-floral stag head lapel pins for the men that we found on etsy, there was whimsy and style in every detail.

Ahh, Military weddings, traditional, cultural and conventional...

As much as I am an "Offbeat Bride and Rock N Roll Bride lover" I just as much love traditional and poofy dress wearing brides...go figure.

I have always liked having my cake and eating it too. That being said, a military wedding is our feature this morning.

In a Military Wedding the ceremony itself is not a military service but a religious one. There is such pomp and circumstance, pageantry and patriotism in these sophisticated rituals.

Found on Wedding Details{.com} were many great tid bits on all the cultural norms of a military wedding. There are many resources for this top but I found this site quite useful. There are many details for a planner to know when helping a bride and groom pull off a stunner of a military wedding so listed below are a list of details that you'll surly want to know.Image from:: Depth of Field Blog

The Requirements:: If the service is performed by a military chaplain, there is never a fee. He or she should be consulted before hiring musicians or a photographer.Military custom dictates that a formal invitation to the reception be extended to the chaplain and his or her spouse.Wedding Attire:: An officer or enlisted personnel in the bridal party wear uniforms in accordance with the formality of the wedding and seasonal regulations.For officers, evening dress uniform conforms to civilian white tie and tails. Dinner or mess dress uniform is in accordance with black tie.

In the case of non-commissioned officers, dress blues or Army green uniforms may be worn at formal or informal weddings. A female officer may wear a traditional bridal gown, or she may be married in uniform. A boutonniere is never worn with uniform.White gloves are a necessity for all saber (sword) bearers. The choice to attend the wedding in uniform as a military guest is optional.

Seating of Officers:: At the ceremony, the bride or groom's commanding officer and spouse may sit in the front pew if the parents are not present. Or, the commanding officer may sit near or with the family. Flag and general officers are customarily seated just behind the two families.

Army - The Arch of Sabres:: The arch of swords takes place immediately following the ceremony, preferably when the couple leaves the chapel or church, on the steps or walk. If an arch is held inside and the ushers are commissioned officers, they line up with the bridal party at the altar. After the blessing, the bride and groom turn, face the guests and remain there while the saber bearers get into position.

The senior saber bearer issues a quiet cue, and all saber bearers turn, proceed to the center aisle in pairs, facing the guests, and stop at a point just forward from the first pew line. With the command "Center Face" they pivot so that the officers are in two lines facing each other. At the "Arch Sabers" command, the saber is raised with the right hand until it touches the tip of the saber directly opposite. The cutting edge is up.

As the guests stand, the bride and groom start the recessional, passing beneath the arch. After the newlyweds have walked through, the commands "Carry Sabers" "Rear Face" and "Forward March" will move the saber bears to the outside of the chapel to prepare for the second arch. Only the bridal couple may pass under the arch. The recessional continues after the saber bearers have exited the chapel.

It is traditional, as the couple recess through the arch of swords, that the last two men to make up the arch lower their swords in front of the couple, detaining them momentarily, while the sword bearer on the right, with his sword, gives the bride a gentle "swat" on the rump and utters, "Welcome to the Army," or the appropriate branch of service. This step is omitted if the bride is in the military. Only commissioned servicemen and servicewomen may participate in the arch of swords or sabers.

Navy & Marine Corps - The Arch of Swords:: The arch of swords for weddings is authorized for commissioned, warrant, staff noncommissioned officers, and noncommissioned officers only. The arch of swords ceremony is an old English and American custom, which gives a symbolic pledge of loyalty to the newly married couple from their Marine family. Only the newly married couple is allowed to pass under the arch.

It is virtually the same as the Arch of Sabers except for the command "Officers, Draw Swords" when the swords are drawn from their scabbards in one continuous motion, rising gracefully to touch the tip of the opposite sword. Then, at "Invert Swords" there is a quick turning of the wrist so that the cutting edge is up.

Air Force - The Arch of Sabres:: The saber bearers cannot perform the function of ushers. The bearers head the processional lines, the chaplain waits at the top of the chancel and the saber bearers proceed until they form two lines directly in front of the chaplain, making sure that they leave enough room for the bride and groom to kneel. Upon reaching their positions, they pivot to face each other and pivot again to face the guests.

As the bride and groom pass each set, the saber bearers automatically face one another, and, as the bridal couple prepares to kneel, all saber bearers turn in unison to face the Bible on the altar.

When the blessing has been completed, all pause as the arch is formed before the couple leaves the chancel.After passing through the arch, the bride and groom wait for a moment at the head of the chancel steps, and the command is issued to return the saber to the Badric (saber belt) or to carry sabers. The recessional is then commenced.

Departure from the Church:: At a military wedding, the bride and groom usually leave the chapel or church under the traditional arch of sabers.It is preferable that six ushers in uniform perform this ceremony, although many more may take part. Ushers may be in uniform of one or more services.

Rifles can be substituted for the sabers if there is difficulty in obtaining the needed amount. Most military chapels have them on hand, or the couple could check with the local military museum or with the various commanding officers to request the sabers.

The Wedding Reception:: At the reception, if the groom is in uniform, protocol demands that he proceed the bride in the receiving line. The national colors and distinguishing flags may be displayed, exactly centered, behind the receiving line, and if the reception room is large, the bridal couple may want an arch included at the reception instead of during the recessional.

Cutting the Cake:: On command, the saber bearers enter the reception room in formation lining up in front of the wedding cake, facing each other.The bride and groom leave the receiving line, then pass beneath the arch. They may pause and kiss, before proceeding to cut the cake. The groom would then hand the bride his unsheathed saber and with his hands over hers, their first piece is cut.

For a Marine Corps cake cutting ceremony, the sword is usually placed unsheathed on the cake cart and handed to the commanding general/commanding officer by the senior escort. This is done by laying the sword over the left forearm, cutting edge away from the body, and the hilt towards the commanding general/commanding officer. There is no ornamentation to the saber. It must remain undecorated.

Tell us what type of services you offer?

My Bartender offers a full service liquid catering experience for any size or type of event. We specialize in all things cocktails, beer and wine to make your next event sparkle with class and excitement. Our professional and responsible approach to alcohol service will help facilitate the event of your dreams while giving you the peace of mind you’re looking for.

What type of weddings do you love the most?

Outdoor wedding are always a treat for us. Oregon and Washington are such beautiful places and we feel fortunate to work in so many gorgeous settings.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

We get our inspiration from the community as a whole. Every happy hour drink menu in town is a potential source of inspiration for the cocktails we feature at various events. Portland is a hub for food and drink and what better way to find creativity but through the collective whole of the city. We often take great recipes from around the city and tweak them slightly to make them our own.

How did you become a liquid catering company?

Part of it was being in the right place at the right time and part of it was because we saw a need in the market that wasn’t being fulfilled. Sure, there are many caterers that do what we do but we feel their focus is naturally on the food first. We take a different approach to alcohol service that you won’t find with any other wedding or event professional in the city. Everyone wants to feel a little different…and we feel exactly that; like we’re a little different.

How does your consultation process work?

Our consultation process can take many forms. We really leave it up to the client to dictate whether we discuss things over the phone, by email or in person. We work with each client to ensure we’re addressing all their important issues or needs to create exactly the type of event they have envisioned for themselves. We’re not here to talk you into or out of any decision you’re not comfortable with. It’s your event and it should be exactly what you want.

I want to book you to create my dream wedding, how do I start the process?

First step would be to fill out our information form on our website, via the “Contact Us” page. We will prepare a quote based on the size of your event, the guest count, the length of the event and the type of alcohol service you are requesting.

What are your top 5-10 tips for brides and grooms regarding their bartending on the day of?

-Hire a professional bartending service. It will make your event unforgettable.

-Think Local. Oregon and SW Washington have so many wonderful beer, wine and distilled spirits products and there's no better place to invest your money than back into the local economy

-Have a champagne toast. No wedding is complete without a champagne toast. Some of the most sacred memories of your wedding day will take place during the toast.

-Include a signature cocktail....or two. You can make your cocktails match the colors of your wedding.

-Make sure your bartender is fully certified by OLCC. Over consumption can be very dangerous and if your bartender isn't aware of the rules and regulations regarding safe and responsible alcohol consumption how can you be sure that they have your friends and families best interests in mind.

-Make sure the company you hire is well respected in the industry. The best way to know how a company really performs is to ask their clients. References should always be checked so you know you're working with a reputable company.

-If you are going to be enjoying cocktails at your reception they may as well be AMAZING! Ask your bartending service for a tasting. Bride & Groom cocktails are very popular right now and this is a fun way to pick one together, or invent your own.

-Make sure your vendor is fully insured. Everything could depend on it, literally. If your bartender is not fully insured and something happens to one of your guests because of alcohol consumption or the bartenders negligence, you can be sued and you could potentially lose everything.

-Ask your vendor what their approach to alcohol consumption is. If your bartender-to-be doesn't have a clear, defined and well thought-out approach to alcohol consumption they probably aren't someone you want to hire.

What trend are you loving right now?

Barrel Aged Cocktails! We can work with the client to make a large batch of a specific cocktail and then age it in a barrel for up to 2 months before the wedding date. Not only will it create some interesting flavor profiles you can’t find anywhere else – but it will take your event to the next level of sophistication.

Sunny is one of the biggest sweethearts we know! From the minute we met her we knew that we were going to have a wonderful relationship for a very long time. She aims to please all her clients and friends.

Her talent is really unmatched. We ask for a certain design and it comes back 100 times better than we could have imagined. From cute cutouts to bold, modern patterns she is always coming up with something new that matches a theme flawlessly.

Tell us what type of services you offer?

Puddle Jumpin' Cards offers custom designed invitation suites, menus, placecards, programs, and block printed cards! I also specialize in custom rubber stamps, which are fun for return addresses, favor tags and more.

What type of weddings do you love the most?

I love all weddings, but my favorite weddings are when details about the couple's personality are woven into the design of their big day!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Life. My inspiration is drawn from the unique couples I work with. Each couple is so unique, and their designs reflect that. l also draw inspiration from textiles and nature. I like to think of the invitation as the couple's personal piece of art.

How did you become a invitation designer?

I have always enjoyed the process of creating, and after graduating Northwest College of Art, I dipped my toes into many creative avenues. After designing my sister's wedding invitations, I knew that was where my passion lied.

How does your consultation process work?

If you are local, I'd love to meet you at the Wedding Lounge. Our portfolio, paper swatches, envelopes, ribbon, pocket fold samples and more are all there for you to play around and have fun with. If you'd like, you can bring along any inspiration boards, magazines etc. that help describe the look and feel of your wedding. We'll chat about printing techniques, your style and budget, and find the best solution to achieving your personal design.

If you are outside of the Portland area, no problem at all! Samples can be ordered and we can nail down all the details over the phone or email. Puddle Jumpin' Cards is experienced in online orders and we have happy brides from Vermont to Australia and beyond.

I want to book you to create my dream wedding, how do I start the process?

What are your top 5-10 tips for brides and grooms regarding their invitations on the day of?

-Follow your personal style, not what is trendy at the moment.

-The best deal does not mean the best design.

-Nail down your guest list so a final invitation quantity is decided on prior to getting quotes.

-You've heard this before, but really: the invitation sets the tone of your wedding! Let them be as awesome as you!

-Even if you are on a budget, your invitation designer can give you numerous options that respect your budget without sacrificing your style.

-Evites are completely out of the question... tacky tacky tacky!!

-Plan on meeting your invitation designer at least 8 months prior to your wedding, especially if you are sending save the dates out.

-Make sure you understand postage rates for your invitation suite! ie, additional ounces, square envelopes and bumps in the envelope all add additional postage. Your invitation designer will know the current rates.

What trend are you loving right now?

I'm in love with pop up menus, laser cut and etched invitations, and little elements of surprise in the design.
