So what about now?

2012-05-20T10:01:00.000-07:00

Hello again!

Long time no see. So I have been into this reading kick lately. Last month I wizzed through the Hunger Games. It was OK. Not quite what I expected but I would recommend them. Over the last couple of weeks I have read the E.L. James 50 Shades trilogy. I read the last book within about 24 hours. I have read anything like that in years! Since the A. N. Roquelaure Beauty trilogy. Talk about causing a stir! lol both internally and out in the world. I saw a post yesterday on a craft site I belong to. Someone had asked about the books and one woman had stated they were smut and that it was such poor writing, yada, yada, yada. She sounded bitter about it. The question that puzzles me is if she found them THAT bad then why did she proceed to read all three? You know, I get it, not quite sure about the first book so try book two but to go as far as to read the third if you are hating it? I also found it funny that she called it smut, the book clearly states "Erotic Romance"

adjective Also, e·rot·i·cal.

arousing or satisfying sexual desire: an erotic dance.

of, pertaining to, or treating of sexual love; amatory: anerotic novel.

subject to or marked by strong sexual desire.

noun

an erotic poem.

an erotic person.

Origin:
1615–25; < Greek erōtikós of love, caused by love, given tolove, equivalent to erōt- (stem of érōs ) Eros + -ikos -ic

I don't know, I would expect some sex in there if this word was somewhere on the book. You know, I get it, everyone is more than entitled to their opinion, it makes life interesting. I just found it interesting the strong opinion she had about it.

On another note, I want to make some changes. I want to start getting off my ass and exercising. I think I am going to dust off the hula work out videos I have as well as a couple other workout videos. I am finding that I am out of breath after not do much physical exertion, plus it would be nice to have a little less of me and easier to find things that fit and not make me so self conscious. I am trying to dress a little more professional at work and this would make it easier. Another thing I have been working on is clearing things out, trying to make things a little more simpler. Just a couple things I am working on.

My Alijah is growing up so fast. She is so smart! She's sitting playing with her Tangled tea set we got last week. Her imagination has just gotten so great and she enjoys singing. I love my little one!

Well this is all for now. I won't make anymore promises of posting more often as I do seem to break them. I hope all is good in your world!

Take care,

Pixie/ Nana / Chelle

2012... take it or leave it?

2012-01-14T12:24:00.000-08:00

So what are your thoughts on 2012 so far? All I know is that it has been crazy at work! There is just not enough hours in the day to get everything done!.

Right now I have a bit of a cold. Hope that goes by quickly!

I have decided to take it easy on the swaps on Craftster. I still check it out everyday and admire the neat things people have been making but I'm just not feeling the swaps like I was a year ago. I think it's a different crowd and even when I try making some posts (which isn't that often) I feel like a ghost. It's like nobody sees me. I may just be acting like a baby but, whatever. I was an angel for a swap and worked really hard on the items I made and sent and then the person disappeared and didn't post pictures and the ones I took are stuff somewhere in T-mobile land because they won't load my picture gallery online. BOO!!!! I painted my first pair of shoes and this quittich paddle that I was really proud of! Another lesson learned. lol I am still going to do the Hoopla swaps because I have done those from the beginning and I enjoy making the hoops regardless that they don't get the reaction from the community that I hope for. (Again acting like a baby) I want to do a couple of personal swaps with my internet friends on FB (which I met on Craftster, ironic huh? lol)

I am going to work on new items for my etsy shop, PixieFirefly. Some crochet items, jewelry and I want to make some old school coin purses and little wristlet purses. I have a bunch of fat quarters that are perfect for these items! I want to do some more embroidery too! I am currently working on a hoop for one of my friends who's pregnant. I am having a great time doing it because I am trying something different and creating a story for the character. I will post a pic when I am done.

I am also working at getting me together both mentally and financially. That's a hard one! I am trying to just craft things and cook instead of looking for deals on things. I love going out thrifting (I got a real Coach Wallet once for $2.99!) and finding things for cheap or checking out sales or getting more crafting supplies. It doesn't seem like a large amount of money at the time but does add up. And god knows the car needs major work so the pennies are better put there!

Alijah is growing like a weed. She is getting so much smarter too. She is enjoying going to pre-school. She goes to a christian one and also enjoys when they go into the sanctuary. She did such a great job in her Christmas show. It was so much fun to see her sing! She is such a ham.

So, here are all the projects that are currently in progress in my bag:
1. Embroidery hoop for friends baby
2. embroidery hoop for friend I started many months ago
3. embroidery hoop for friends I stater more than a year ago right after they got married
4. crochet scarf for shop
5. crochet wash cloth for bathroom
6. crochet blanket for my bead
7. wristlet (gonna finish that today!)

and that's not including the dress I started for Alijah last year and everything else I stated and stashed in my corner! lol
Here are some items I do have pictures of that I have made.

I had a blast making these items!

Anywho. How are you guys? My many readers! How is your 2012 going so far? Anything exciting or new?

This is another thing I want to get better at... my blog!

Take care my friends!

Hello World

2011-04-01T12:16:00.000-07:00

Ok, so check this out, I opened my own Etsy yesterday! I haven't put anything in it yet but will shortly. There's a bunch of jewelry that will be going in that my mum has at the gallery and since it's closing at the end of the month I must put it somewhere. I'm pretty proud of the stuff she has down there and it should look good in the Etsy and even better on whomever buys it!.

I hear sirens. They aren't a police car or ambulance. More like those sirens you heard in a movie when a tsunami or air attack was coming. Those freak me out! I have noticed that there is more and more sirens (the police and emergency personnel type) these days. Really crazy..

Anywho, I just drew up a couple 4" hoops that I am going to embroider and put in there this weekend. Flying piggies and baby octopus anyone? lol

Things have been a little tough lately. I've had no luck with the job market and things are beyond tight. That's one of the reasons that I opened the etsy. I enjoy making things and this way I can justify making more! lol I will figure out how to link it here and then keep checking and let me know what you think!

The following I have made for some swap and am thinking of making more similar to put in the shop. What do you think?

Take Care!
Pixie
