It is not about how many people you know..
How many you follow...
How many follow you....
It is all about the quality of your connections.
Do they promote you? When you post something that really reaches out and grabs you- do they pass the your link? When you have a new product or business, do they tell their friends? Or are you being ignored?
Successful networking requires a relationship between you and your followers- just knowing is not enough.
Twitter-
I see so many that join twitter, post daily, and expect people to flock to them..... Does not happen that way.
People want information- Great information. That is why people follow you and should be why you follow others. It really does you no good to follow 1000 tweets when you only have 100 following you. You are getting all this information, but only a few are accepting you.
Check out people before you follow. Visit their links, read their tweets, Google them- seriously Google their name and see what comes up. You will find everything thing they have ever done on line. Good or bad...
Decide is this a person you want to be associated with...?
Face Book-
Face Book is used for networking and personal ( actually twitter is too), but face book gives you more room and options.
With face book, decide on your goal. Do you want to promote your business? find friends? Keep in touch with family? Do you have a fan page?
Face book Games- these have become an addiction.... LOL.
Applications, Tests, and much more. My wall daily is full of someone gave me a chicken, my dream home etc... While fun and sometimes interesting... I really do not want to read over 50 posts like that.
I am looking for new friends and to keep in touch with old. I want to see your new products, new blog, new baby. These are important to you so that makes them important to me/ your friend.

This is another one where quality is way better than quantity. While the bulldozer sales me in Asia is nice to know of, and he may buy one of my products, and someone may find my information off of his profile, Do I really need to now this person? No! He is not my target area. Now If I sold or needed to buy a bulldozer he would be perfect!

A final word on Networking.... Your reputation can make or break you! How do you want to come across to others? Use correct spelling, no slang etc.. Rather then writing B4U write it out before you.
Most important do not spam- this does not get you new customers or connections. This gets you ignored- deleted- and maybe reported.

Not really, but come on people!

My morning started before I even had a cup of coffee. First I hear my 6 yr old banging around- I drag myself out of bed at 7 am on a could sleep in day. She has plates, bowls, butter knives and who knows what else and is playing with her new play dough. Ok that is fine! I step outside to check the weather- nothing new there. LOL

What I was not expecting is a beautiful or at least was beautiful Tabby Tom ( I am guessing) He did not look so great right then. Someone dumped or left him behind when they moved. He stepped up onto my patio like he owned it, sat down and gave me the look ( all you cat people, you know they look)

I go in and grab a can of tune ( yea I know not good for him, but the best I could do) I give it to him and he starts drinking the water out of it like he has not had a drink in days- I run in and get him a bowl of water- which by the way he never touched.

Anyway, he is chowing down with me about 6 inches away from him- I think cool he is not scared of me so I slowly reach out to touch him- he never even looked up, just swatted at me- I took that as a firm. DO NOT TOUCH! So, I sit down and pretend that I am not watching him. LOL.

He finishes his meal, sits down and just sits looking at me licking his chops. Where is he now? No idea, but he has a fully tummy for a bit.

Now the crazy woman part-

what the heck is wrong with people-

why have or get an animal and just dump it where ever without a thought or care of what happens to it?

Or do you know that some soft heart like me will feed it and offer it shelter....

I have it, lets take all the people that dump animals and drop them on a deserted island somewhere ...

1.no clothing

2. no food or water

3. no shelter

Lets see how they survive.....

Do you network constantly? Do you send out ad after ad? Do you think it is not working?
Well, it may not be!

There are millions of posts, ads, blasts etc.. all over the internet- most are ignored.
How do you get your up on the screen?

1. Are you posting something that people want to read?
2.Are you checking you spelling?
3. Are your posts easy to understand?
4. Are you pushing for a sell?
5. Do you follow up?

There is much more to marketing than placing your ads all over.
99% of ads are deleted just due to the subject line!
The other 1 % are well written ads that make a great offer that people are interested in.

Would you rather see:
Come join me now at company X free sign up, we have blank products...

or: I would like to share blank company with you.
We have blank products and offer free sign ups.

People do not want short and too the point that gives no real information nor do they want to read a book.

A note on Signature lines. A single sign that has link to one site is much easier to view and click through than a sign line that is 10 companies long!

Picking a company

There are zillions of home business companies out there. The mom owned to the big corp. There are affiliate programs, rep programs, consultant programs and those that do drop shipping where you buy your own store for several hundred and up. How do you determine which are real and which are scams?

Watch out for:

*Make 100.00 in an hour or even 1.00 in 1 hour- run fast and far.LOL. No legit company will quote you an income or make promises of an income. Do you really think someone is going to pay you to do nothing?

*Earning money just for signing up others

Paying a fee to join or fee to get a list or fee to make money- someone gets money, but it will not be you.

* a fully loaded web store, fees to join a drop ship/ wholesale company. High min orders at these companies and watch out for the shipping cost. I know one company that charges flat 6.95 fee for any item. Say you order a pen set for 15.00, you pay 21.95 for the pen set that they bought for 2.25 and actual shipping is more like 3.00 - 5.25 or 21.95 which would you rather pay?

Before you look at companies, decide what kind of business you want. Online, Off line, combo? Do you want to sell a product? Do you want to promote a service? Do you want to create your own business?

Blasting

Ok, I get the concept, but spam is still spam no matter how you send it.

I added people to my IM simply to communicate off group rather than everyone getting the post. While it worked great for that one communication, I now have 6 people " Blasting" me.

Did I ask to be on the blast list--- NO

Do I want o be on the blast list---NO

Do I go visit the sites or buy from the people you are blasting for----NO

I am seriously wondering if these blasters are making any money off of this. Or maybe that is why they blast- they are not making money from other sources....???

I see the same people blasting everyday with a newbie thrown in here and there- it is the same people, same companies, all kinds of specials- over and over and over. And when one sends it the other follow suit and I get the same message 6 times. Can you say annoying?

It interferes with my composing message- slows down my computer.

I understand we have to look for customers, but how are any of these people making anything when they all buy from each other- yep it does increase their sells, but how much are they spending to get those sells?

Looks to me like a vicious circle that they are in- a pyramid of buying. With them spending all their profits...

And they keep sending me blast requests- Nope, not gonna see me blasting away to everyone in my address book- last I heard you can get in a lot of trouble for spam and I do not want to empty out my friends list.
