Overall my verdict for the Lunamer products is that they are really very gentle on the skin!

Matcha green tea float! It's stupid, just get the Matcha milkshake.

My teeth are looking a bit Bugs Bunnyish... Don't know if you guys noticed but I haven't been smiling with teeth much! Qiuting pointed it out to me too, before I ever said anything about it. So I'm not imagining things! JAYNE! (my blog manager, who was sitting beside me in the photo actually)

Finally done with exams! During my exams I had so many post-exam plans, like getting fitter/healthier, updating my blog often, cleaning my room, sewing things... That all went out of the window once I was actually ON holiday lol. All I feel like doing is bumming around watching movies & eating.

Completely unrelated picture of self. I have a lot more where these came from.

Few weeks before my exams I headed to Sensual Nails Spa again to change my nails!

Went for something pretty simple this time!

Actually all nail designs I pick are simple because I hate drawing attention to my hands...

It's like the fats I lack elsewhere on my body frame decided to all gather at my fingers -_-

Hence I need long nails to "elongate" my fingers haha.

Two weeks later my manicure looks the same, except that my nails have grown out a little.

So that would depend on your nail growth rate!

Haha I think this is like most of us when it comes to exams. Well for me at least! Overnight we become experts in whatever we're tested on the next day. It's amazing how productive you can be under pressure hahaha. And amazing how that knowledge goes right out the window the minute the clock stops O.O It's like your brain does an auto-wipe & files it under "useless".

On a sidenote, I really buay tahan (cannot stand) how some people email me at night (after dinner hours) & then email me again early next morning (single digit hour) asking "got my email?" or the worst - "reply pls" (RUDE). Hello, I know I may be an individual & not a business, but assume I work office hours please T_T. This is 2013, obviously I got your email & read it & didn't consider it urgent.

I can't imagine how bad blogshop owners have it. I remember the few times I sold off some of my own things on my blog I already got a lot of (-_-)" emails. I mean overall I guess I'm referring to the self-entitled mentally many people seem to have nowadays?

Like they expect to get everything they want INSTANTLY. It's all about me me me me.

Hello! Sorry for the small hiatus (I normally blog every 2-3 days so with a week I feel guilty :x) but I'm in the midst of exams! Just had my first paper on Friday, & at the end of next Friday I'll be done!

I don't have any immediate post-exam plans yet (my trip to Europe is only in June) but I'm just looking forward to being able to do mindless things guilt-free ^_^

So anyhow, a really long time ago I first started wearing this watch below & many people asked where to buy it, so I went back to the shop (heartlands one in Bukit Merah) & bought the remaining pieces!

Korean Lessons

End last year I took a couple of Korean lessons with some of the Nuffies!

I took the lessons at Hankuk Centre, which is located at Queenstown.

Located at my old estate actually, so I know the area pretty well haha.

There's a lot of buses that go there!

Anyway I realised I've never really tried learning a new language before!

I have taken lessons in both French & Mandarin (French is my official second language) of course, but these were both languages I grew up with & weren't totally foreign to me. Korean was the first time I was trying to learn a completely new language that I had no prior knowledge of.

Hankuk Centre will be running a promotion exclusively for my readers!

Outside Hankuk Centre!

This was the centre when it was decorated for Christmas!

Hankuk Centre started out in 2009 & provides:

♡ The best teachers. All their teachers are native Koreans, fluent in both English & Korean & with years of teaching experience. You won't have to worry about communication issues!

♡ Small class sizes. No class is larger than 9 students, meaning you get personalised attention & will be able to participate actively in class & will feel less shy when you're trying to learn Korean!

Here's our first lesson:

Starting to learn the alphabet! Korean letters seem quite complicated at first O.O

Showing us how to write the characters! The strokes are always from left to right & top to bottom.

The words "Gieok" & "Nieun" are the names of the characters!

The 5 shown in the photo are basic ones.

And here's how you can combine different letters to form words!

Since it was our first lesson these were of course basic combinations!

Normal Korean words usually consist of 2 or 3 of these letters together.

We all took turns to fill in some of the combinations on the board!

Very straightforward lah, just combine the two together haha.

The difficult part is remembering how it's pronounced!

But at least with a small class you'll feel less hesitant to try, especially if you're taking lessons with friends! Like there were 4 of us in total so we formed a whole class on our own haha.

Disclaimer: The romanization (spelling) of the Korean characters in the pictures above & below are different (e.g. "Gieok"/"Giyak") as we wrote it differently to make it easier to remember the pronunciation! So the correct ones are in the previous pictures above.

So if you combine the 1st in the top row (Gieok, "G" sound) with the 1st in the left column ("ah"), it's pronounced GAH. Quite simple! Just that with increasing number of letters it becomes harder to remember which is what & how each is pronounced!

LOL see, eventually you can fill up the whole sheet. That's a lot of combinations leh.

Small class sizes! Makes it more conducive for learning compared to large classes where you may easily feel crowded out. I mean it's like in school, I'm a lot less likely to contribute in a class of 30 & may easily get bored/distracted compared to a class of 10.

That day we started learning how to combine 3 letters. On the top left you can see how the teacher wrote how the alphabets are combined! Consonant over/with vowel over the final consonant.

The vowels with 2 lines are pronounced with a Y sound instead!

So if it's "ah" with one line, the two-line version is "yah".

On the third lesson we learnt a lot more stuff!

Like the Koreans have two different sets of words for numbers, depending on whether it's for quantity or for time. So e.g. a 4 in "4 apples" is different from the 4 in "4pm"

Was also quite amused to learn how to say "female", because we all remembered hearing Psy say "yoh jah" a lot when he sings Gangnam Style. So yeah it means female haha.

The other good thing about small classes is that you can progress differently based on your class' progress. With a smaller group you wouldn't be forced to stick to a standard progression that's to fit everyone in a large group. So with like 4-9 of us in class, if we're struggling & need more time/explanation we can slow down the pace, or similarly speed it up if everyone is coping well. Furthermore if you're lagging it's easier to get attention & help in a small class. This is quite unlikely in larger classes where you might easily fall behind or get frustrated by the delay of slower classmates.

At the end of the 3 lessons I think if I have my alphabet sheet on hand I can sorta figure out basic Korean sentences already! I might not know the meaning but I would know how to pronounce them haha. The teachers taught us more important conversational words like "taxi" & "bus" & we would randomly keep asking how to say this & that, so with smaller classes the teacher-student relationship is a lot more casual & personal!

More mirror OOTDs! These were taken sometime in early February I think.

It was pretty long ago hence there is still an open suitcase in the background, which is really no excuse because I got back from Europe on 31st December 2012 haha. And if you follow me on Twitter (I would link myself here but I'm too lazy) you should know that I'm headed to Europe again this summer!

In December I visited mostly Northern Europe - Paris, Zurich, Munich & Stavanger

And froze my ass off.

So this time I'll be heading to Southern Europe, around the Mediterranean Sea!

Going to be heading to Istanbul, Athens, Crete, Rome & Ibiza. Pretty excited!

All 5 kittens were adopted by the way! 3 went to homes with another cat (it was a priority to me that each kitten go to someone already owning a cat) while 2 were adopted together. So all 5 will grow up with a cat buddy :D Very happy that things turned out well for them! I should try & get an update from their owners soon & blog the massive stock of cute kitten photos I have!

Aww I miss them, they were so lovely & amazingly affectionate.

Another time I tried to wear the too-small-for-me-shoes & figured it wouldn't be often so I have to ~ capture this moment ~ & cement it in time. Something gay like that. Also I think I had decided not to go for class so I had time to kill while walking back to my house haha.

Lazy to wear contact lens that day! I've had this top since I was 17.

A lot of my stuff is from Bangkok & random online shops that I can't remember, which means they're not any that I patronise regularly! And I tend to re-wear a few key items for a period of time & then move on to another set of key items for another period of time... Hence the mint shorts & Chloe bag.

And a massive bruise on my leg which I have no idea how I got.

And I am also now de-hairified because I just went for a full leg wax! (In case some of you felt like pointing out the fine hairs on my upper leg in the picture above... haha)(People notice everything O.O)

I had my last day of school, EVER, last Friday. It wasn't exciting or memorable at all because that day I also had my last essay, EVER, due, & in standard last-semester-syndrome, I was still doing it.

But by the way I have never submitted any essay late; always, always made the deadline.

And I write pretty fast (Y). It's amazing how productive you are closer to the deadline haha.

But so yes, I didn't think about taking pictures or doing anything for the last time or anything like that.

I feel a little sad (quite sad really) because I always enjoyed school. NUS wasn't incredibly exciting, but it was still good. I would definitely say NUS was a positive experience, although I do think I could have done more; like been more involved in school & met more people. That's one thing I do regret.

But well that's that & it's a little mind-boggling to be done with education because THAT'S THE ONLY THING I'VE EVER KNOWN. I have spent my life thus far being educated.

And it's time to go out into the real world &.... not use any of my education.

Got a new nail sponsor, which is Sensual Nails Spa!

I've heard about them before because they've been featured by a few bloggers & after a... year-long? hiatus from Gelish nails, I decided to start again! Sensual Nails Spa is located at Bishan so that's especially convenient for me since I live in the area & can easily MRT/bus down!

So anyway there was a day that I was at 313 @ Somerset with time to kill so I went into a random nail salon there (well it wasn't that random, the window display showed it had won Cozycot awards & what not) & paid $50 for a simple Gelish manicure. Which was quite overpriced :/ And it started peeling not long after! I was quite wtf because Gelish polish very rarely peels! I don't remember the salon name but it's located on the 4th floor (same floor as Salon Vim) >:(

So this is me getting my previous Gelish manicure removed!

One reason why I stopped Gelish for a year was that I noticed my nails were looking unhealthy & that was because the previous salon I went to, simply peeled off the Gelish. I never knew this was abnormal till I one day went into another salon & paid $20 to have it soaked off & was surprised by how nice my nails still looked. The proper procedure is to wrap each finger with cotton wool soaked in a special remover, with aluminum foil around each to hold it. So yeah, when done properly it's completely fine to continuously do Gelish.

I like Gelish because it's the only way my nails stay long T_T

They normally break easily so with Gelish they're forced to stay er... unbroken.

Throughout all my time doing Gelish nail art, I have ALWAYS gotten French tips hahaha.

Omg I am so boring. I guess it's because I don't like my hands/fingers/nails, so I don't like to draw attention to them? So I usually get relatively subtler designs.

Getting an express pedicure! I hate my toes even more than my fingers so I won't post a photo. I mean they're better looking than some toes I've seen posted online, but I always hated people uploading pictures of their feet -_- I find it so gross! Unless you happen to have really nice feet, which is rare.

Dyed my hair!

Ok actually I dyed my hair around 2 weeks ago already but I don't think I've uploaded new pictures of myself since then anyway so it doesn't matter haha. Omg I'm a horrible blogger.

Anyway I went to Salon Vim bored of my hair & was at first thinking of highlights!

Then I don't know why I decided to dye my whole head a lighter brown.

I wanted hair like the girl on the left page, top right side! The one with the centre-parting.

Brown but slightly on the ashier side!

However I was quite worried about bleaching because I'm scared of the pain & damage, so we dyed my hair instead & it's not easy to achieve a lighter colour with just dyeing.

But yeah so my hair colour below involved no bleaching!

Getting the dye! That's my hairstylist, Stephanie!

And this part of the treatment! Steam helps to open up your hair follicles for the absorption of the reparative serums, followed by other serums to seal the follicles back, locking in the moisture.

Makeup Tutorial

FINALLY GETTING ROUND TO THIS POST O.O

As usual I took these photos a long time ago but am only posting them up now hahaha.

Anyway most of the products used are from Yves Saint Laurent Beauté & Etude House as they were sponsored for me to try! I currently do still use some of these products & I'll say which at the bottom.

First up would be the YSL roll-on Wake-up Eyecare which is meant to soothe & brighten tired eyes!

Basically there will be a "cooling" feeling when you apply it. Let it be absorbed then apply your concealer over it! I am still using this YSL concealer for my dark eye circles & other red areas.

Next would be eyeliner! I find eyeliner quite important; concealer + eyeliner is usually sufficient to make me look good enough to go out! This Etude House Drawing Show Dot eyeliner is a special 3-pronged eyeliner to help you create fake eyelashes by drawing vertically!

The lines I drew on my hand are examples of how it'll turn out based on the amount of pressure placed.

I actually use it like a normal eyeliner & just draw a horizontal line by turning it lengthwise!

So that's me with concealer + eyeliner, which is a simple uniform line that's extended slightly beyond the end of my eye. I draw a thin lower lashline with the same eyeliner & connect it to the top's.

Here I tested out the 3-prong function by drawing the vertical bottom eyelashes!

Cute eyeshadow palette from Etude House! I like the colours they have here because I generally am not very adventurous with eyeshadows, I tend to stick to dark & light brown or shades like dark purple/green. I used to use white/silver eyeshadow sometimes but now I can't be bothered.

Anyway the Etude House eyeshadow is very matte, meaning there is no shimmer in it at all whereas most eyeshadows commonly are more towards the metallic side. So it's up to your preference!

I didn't blend the eyeshadows that well but never mind lah, cannot see one hahaha.

P.S. Remember to curl your eyelashes before mascara application!

The Etude House 3-step Volumecara gives you 3 different options for mascara intensity!

I don't know how they designed it inside the tube but basically you twist it to your desired intensity, with Step 1 being the mildest & Step 3 the most vava-voom!

Tested:

You can actually see a clear difference between Step 1 & Step 3!

Step 3 is much thicker & fuller, so Step 1 may be more suitable for day-to-day use!

Etude House blusher! Actually I'm not very sure what having the 2 shades of pink is for haha.

(This is why I am not a beauty blogger) But I think you sort of mix it together? I just swipe my brush across it & it seems fine. My brush is possibly a foundation brush or whatever, but I like it for my blusher.

I always smile when I apply my blusher (yes I have been observed doing this & have been told how retarded I look) because you should use the apples of your cheek as a gauge! Apply outwards towards your hairline; I apply mine along the bottom edge of my cheeks.

Lip balm because I have very dry lips T_T

These Burt's Bees ones are a bit pricier ($9 I think?) than normal drugstore brands but I find it more nourishing (normal brands don't seem to do anything for my lips) & they smell good!

I have 2, one for my bedside & one that I carry in my bag.

The Rejuvenating one in the picture above is Acai Berry flavoured, while my other one is a Refreshing one that's Pink Grapefruit flavoured! As far as I can tell there's no difference between Rejuvenating, Refreshing, forgot-what-else-they-had...

Anyway if you don't mind the slightly higher price then I would recommend these!

My favourite product from YSL - their lipstains!

Sweet coral-pink shade above is #7

It's something like a cross between lipsticks & lipglosses. I dislike the stickiness of lipglosses & lipsticks can be a bit too dry so these lipstains are perfect! They allow for a very consistent colour that doesn't come out cracked or patchy the way lipstick might (especially for girls with dry/chapped lips like mine).

The brush makes it very easy to apply as well! Good for corners & uh.. precision haha.

And done!

On a day-to-day basis I don't wear all the makeup items.

I hardly wear eyeshadow because I find it doesn't make much difference to how I look haha.

And mascara is a bit peskier to remove!

So normally it'll be - concealer, eyeliner, blusher & lipstick

Ok the two pictures are practically identical but there you have it!

Also my hair is really wtf. I swear my hair isn't dry, it's just so flyaway T_T

So anyway she had a friends & family over for her official housewarming the other day, complete with dinner buffet & dessert table & churros station! Actually I think I took more photos of the desserts than anything :x So if you want to see her house, go check out her blogpost + Clicknetwork video :D

Their living room has a sea theme! Their home is really very nicely decorated; it's a refreshing change from most Singaporean households where interior design doesn't seem to be much of a priority :/

Went for the launch of the Hello Kitty x tokidoki collaboration the other day!

I was quite excited about it because both Hello Kitty & tokidoki are super cute!

I'm sure Hello Kitty needs no introduction but some of you may not know of tokidoki yet, so read on!

This collaboration is proudly helmed by 7-Eleven & we gathered at an events area in one of their outlets!

I wouldn't say I have A LOT of books, because over the years I've grown lazy/too busy to read & prior to that I went to the library most of the time! But still, I did buy some of my books of course.

Maybe one day I'll do a more in-depth display of my books :D

Anyhow if you're like me... you might have a messy stack of books like this:

And... another small stack here. I'm not sure if you can tell what type of genre I like from all these book titles, but I guess I'd say I like thrillers (murders), fantasy (magic/post-apocalyptic world) & humour.

I don't like romance while chick flicks are passable if they involve one of the above 3 genres haha.

Anyway, as you can see I'm kind of running out of space... Also I tend not to re-read my books so it's a bit retarded that I buy them & then they rot on my shelf for eternity where they:

1) take up space & 2) are a total waste of paper!

I mean just think of all the books that are printed to be read once & chucked aside?

At most, you re-read them maybe... 3 times over the span of... 5 years?

That's already assuming you like the book a fair bit.

For some books I buy them, read them & never want to go through them again.

Reading on the tablet is much more convenient than physical books!

Firstly the main plus point is of course that:

IT CAN STORE A LOT OF BOOKS

Imagine you're going for a long holiday? Or you're almost done with your current book, but the route to school takes 1.5hours & lugging out a 2nd book is really silly? Or you're reading Book A currently, but you suddenly feel like reading Book B instead, or want to check something in Book C? Or especially if you're following a guide (like a cookbook or other self-help guide), you want to be able to access the information easily without having to bring the book with you everywhere you go?

There are so many benefits to being able to access a whole library of books on-the-go!

Furthermore it saves up a lot of space at home (Y)

And saves trees! (Y)

Also, a tablet would probably be much lighter & less cumbersome than carrying a book out!

(Unless your book is really thin - *judging you*)

You also wouldn't have to debate that day about whether to bring out your device or not, because odds are you use it for many other purposes like surfing the Internet or school/work, especially if it's your phone. Whereas a book... can only be used as a book. Lol.

Whether it's lounging at home...

Or chilling in a cafe...

Ebooks are really the future of reading!

I feel quite sad when I think about how little I read nowadays compared to my younger self & I think many of my peers read even less than I do (like, I hear some have not read at all since... secondary school). And I worry for our future generations O.O NO ONE PICKS UP A PHYSICAL BOOK ANYMORE! Everything has to be digital!

But hopefully with ebooks reading will be made so much more convenient so I'll really have no excuse! Whenever I have a few minutes I can easily browse through the latest titles & see what's in store, whereas the odds of me having the time to go to a bookstore or to happen to be at one are much smaller & less frequent. And with ebooks I can easily switch from e.g surfing the Internet to reading without having to be thinking like, Oh no I feel like reading but I didn't bring my book or I should try to read today therefore I will bring out this book & hope I have time for it in the day.

And look at the thickness of an iPad... that can hold tons of books.

How many books can you carry in your arms & out with you? ;)

Random picture dump for the folks bored at home on a Friday night...

These photos below were taken in November 2012 when we went to collect our new camera, the Casio ZR-1000! My hair doesn't look like this anymore (thankfully).

So these are all the very first photos I took with the camera! I used the Casio ZR-1000 since then, since it's pretty small & compact (whereas my Panasonic Lumix G3 is much bulkier)! Brought it to Europe.

Haha hence the selcas... Very convenient!

Matcha green tea ice-cream float! Quite bohliao... I'd recommend just going for the Matcha green tea smoothie instead because you spend your time mixing the ice-cream & there isn't enough of it lol.

Salon Vim

A picture from 2 past visits (click for left & right) to Salon Vim to show how good my hair looks after they handle it! For the left side I didn't even do treatment that day but it was still smooth & manageable.

So one day I woke up with a bush instead of hair. Seriously that was a bad hair day.

I don't usually get tangles so that's lucky but my main problem is frizzy/flyaway hair which makes my hair look so dry & unhealthy >:(

Headed down to Salon Vim the other day!

I usually go to the 313 @ Somerset outlet but they also have a second outlet at Bugis now!

At Salon Vim they keep a record of each trip & your hair:

See? This helps the stylists better know what to do for your hair, what weakness it has... etc

This is just one of the ways in which Salon Vim provides really good service.

If you decide to go back regularly you'll be able to use the same stylist each time, so he/she will know you hair better! Like for me my hair is always handled by Stephanie & if she's not there I don't go lol.

Did a new Redken treatment that day that focuses on strengthening your hair!

I've been dyeing my hair pretty regularly so it's somewhat damaged...

And I don't even bleach my hair so if you do you should definitely consider treatments!

Salon Vim also gave me Redken shampoo & hair mask dedicated to strengthening dyed hair!

My hair always looks so much better after each visit! Super nice to touch because of the treatment!

It definitely helped to improve my hair's condition, already considering how lazy I am to use hair masks

(they help a lot by the way)

Paris - Catacombs & L'Arc de Triomphe

So here's Paris Part Godzillion to my blogposts on my December 2012 trip to Europe!

Anyway we first headed to the Catacombs! I don't think it's that well-known a tourist attraction maybe due to its slightly morbid nature, but we thought it would be interesting. The Catacombs hold the remains of around 6 million people! And the underground network is really pretty extensive.

Sarah & Caroline! Just to recap, Sarah is my friend from Singapore who was doing her NUS student exchange in Munich so I met up with her to travel together, while Caroline is a backpacker from Australia who was sharing the same dorm room as us. The bunk below mine in fact haha.

At hostels it's really very easy to meet people! That day another Australian joined us as well.

(Seems that Australians really love to travel haha, there were always a lot of them)

Andrew, another Australian backpacker! We happen to chat at the hostel & realised he was planning to go to the Catacombs too so he came with us. He left halfway to catch a flight to another country!

"Stop, it is here the empire of death"

Pretty cool huh?

I'll provide basic translations of what everything says but don't expect it to be super accurate because I'm lazy haha. E.g. some direct translations may sound weird in English & I won't bother rectifying that.

"You are invited to not touch anything and to not smoke in the ossuary"

This is Latin so... Google: "In memory of our ancestors"

Reached the actual ossuary!

It's pretty... odd.. to be in such close proximity with human remains.

On one hand they're just... there. So easily accessible, touch-able & somewhat... unimportant because there's so, so, so many & they are just piled one on top of the other without any significance to them. They are completely depersonalised & are somewhat to seem like just mundane scenery.

Yet at the same time these once belonged to people just like you & me, with families & memories & normally parts inside your body are sacred. It's just endless corridors & corridors of bones & skulls.

I think the white powder is... calcium deposits?

And we finally made our way out! I think walking through it took maybe around 1.5 to 2hours?

It depends how slowly you go I guess.

Next we headed towards Les Champs-Elysées!

L'Arc de Triomphe is located at one end of it.

Here's the Arc, sitting in the middle of a huge roundabout!

The Arc as the sun started to set!

(Which basically happened in the like, 10 minutes we were standing there taking pictures)

Crossed over to the Arc via the underpass!

The Arc is to commemorate those who died fighting in the French Revolution.

The French Revolution is actually believed to have been the spark that spread ideals of democracy throughout Europe & then the world, making it one of the most important events in history.

We went up the Arc de Triomphe! I didn't know previously that you could go up O.O

OMG THERE WERE SO MANY STAIRS I SWEAR WE DIED IT WAS LIKE OMGWTFBBQ WHAT ERA IS THIS DID THEY NOT HAVE LIFTS BACK IN 1806

Finally reached the top. Dead.

Went up to the rooftop!

As I said earlier, the Arc de Triomphe is located on a huge roundabout called Place Charles de Gaulle (originally named Place de L'Etoile)(Charles de Gaulle founded the French republic, hence why the airport is also named after him) & avenues radiate out from it:

The avenues lead to many other huge monuments (other arcs) & yes the roundabout has no car lanes at all O.O "Etoile" means star by the way. I read this fiction book where the author described it as:

"The roundabout has 12 exits and is a massive quarter of a mile in diameter, which gives cars plenty of room to dash in at least 12 different directions at once. As a star, l'Etoile is part black hole, part supernova. Cars are sucked in, bounced crazily around, then expelled along one of the exits. Jean-Marie accelerated into the throng of vehicles, hardly blinking as his flash new car was almost cut in two by a kamikaze Kawasaki... He slewed on through four or five near misses, and I wondered how many seconds it would be before his apparently God-given luck ran out and I was chewing airbag... 'Insurance companies never investigate accidents at L'Etoile,' Jean-Marie explained. 'It would be like asking how a boxer broke his nose.'"

One of my all-time favourite books! It's about a Brit moving to Paris & it's hilarious to me.

But anyway yes, the driving in Paris is pretty crazy in general.

So anyway, here are the sights at night!

Look at the traffic below hahaha. There are no traffic lights, no lanes, no guidelines whatsoever & yet it works. I think a Singaporean driver would have a spazz attack & panic.

Headed to some of the big departmental stores like Galeries Lafayette & Printemps.

These stores actually basically just consist of counters/boutiques of high-end luxury brands (you'll find your Chanels, Pradas, Balenciagas... etc) so it's not really like the departmental stores we have in Singapore.

Anyway both the 2 stores I named above are famous for their Christmas window displays!

Every year all the windows are done up very elaborately & these are all MOVING displays.

The kids love them!

Spotted a small Ladurée counter so Sarah & I bought a big box of macarons because they're famous for them! The Ladurée flagship store along Champs Elysées is really popular & there's always a queue for both its normal pastries & confectionery as well as its sit-in dining area.

Walked around & settled on a random restaurant for dinner!

And the restaurant had this cute resident cat that was dressed in a Santa suit! :D

(My food sucked so I didn't care that the cat went near it)

(I dunno what my dish is called; shouldn't have been adventurous T_T)

Samsung GALAXY Camera

I got to play around with the new Samsung GALAXY Camera for a few days to review it & first off what was the most exciting for me about this new camera is that... it has 3G & WIFI O.O

Seriously, it's PRACTICALLY A PHONE. Except that it's also an awesome camera.

First off, I looked for the slot to insert the normal SD card used in cameras.

I was stunned to see "SIM Card" & "MicroSD" slots instead (I hadn't read the introduction to the camera yet - I mean really, nobody reads those manuals/Quick Start guide thingys)!

And then I turned on the camera & realised... IT HAS EMAIL & APPS LIKE INSTAGRAM.

And it also has MESSAGING & CONTACTS & DROPBOX!

At this point... I am ashamed to say that I actually started searching for a mouthpiece on the camera...

Thought I really received a phone hahaha.

So ok, turned out it was not a phone haha. Well it's not a phone in the sense that it can't make phone calls, but the Samsung GALAXY Camera can do everything else! And ALSO take great photos!

Here are some basic technical details about the camera:

Very clean & user-friendly interface with 3 simple categories - Auto, Smart & Expert

Within Expert you can do all your usual customizations of iSO, shutter speed, exposure.. etc!

Under the Smart category are lots of options for you to play around with:

Viewing photos:

Tap the screen to get options like Instagram, sharing (email, direct transfer... etc), delete...

I love the scrollable bar at the bottom as well where you can get a super quick glance at all photos!

Pinch to zoom in & out on the camera! So convenient!

The Samsung GALAXY Camera also has SO MANY EDITING OPTIONS :O

It's has tons of built-in filters & other customizations! :O

Really very impressive! Essentially you can do everything on this camera & then simply upload it straight to Instagram/Facebook/email/etc!

Easily adjust your exposure, color settings, add decorations... etc

Filters! Here I picked the Soft Glow & I think it turned out really nice!

See? Instantly Instagram-able!

And I did!

Speaking of Instagram, look at how many programs & apps the camera has:

It runs on Android OS, so you can basically download ANY compatible apps!

So you could... actually play Angry Birds or Candy Crush on your camera O.O

Getting Internet on your camera is also super easy:

You can connect to your home/school/work/etc wireless network, or even to your phone's if you're out!

Logging in to Instagram on the camera! It has an easy-to-use touchscreen keyboard, just like a phone.

Can't believe I'm surfing Instagram on a CAMERA hahaha.

There is a dedicated Macro mode (found under Expert), but I took these photos below as per normal in Auto mode & they already came out really clear with sharp details!

A lot of times your phone's camera doesn't take that good a picture so they're not "Instagram-worthy".

Like for me I actually don't post that many pictures straight from my phone, & NEVER any taken with iPhone 4S' atrocious front camera *facepalm*

And sometimes I'm in a dilemma whether to use my phone or my camera for a photo/outing because on one hand I want to be able to upload them quickly & try them out with app filters, while on the other hand I still want a collection of GOOD photos from that day!

So sometimes what I have to do is... Take photos with both -__-

Met Yutaki the other day to buy Wendy's house-warming present!

In true Xiaxue fashion, she said she wanted a kitchen knife in colours like... pastel green haha.

Amazingly we found a knife + kitchen scissors set with pink handles & flowers printed on the blades.

Thank you Takashimaya, for all your random expensive imported items.

Like, we saw pots selling for $600-$900 each. Mind-boggling.

By the way this post consists mostly of photos of my face (in case you hadn't preempted it yet).

I wonder whether any other group of people get bored of seeing their own face the way I do.

Was dragged to yet another ramen place for dinner. For the life of me I don't understand why everybody loves ramen, because I prefer udon. Or rather, I do hypothesize that discovering "hidden gem" types of ramen restaurants has somehow become something trendy... the more hole-in-the-wall it is, the better. No one cares about udon or soba now :(

Anyway after dinner + shopping we headed to The Coffee Connoisseur (now apparently The Connoisseur Concerto?) beside Lido since it is open 24 hours. I ordered a soup but also very buay paiseh-ly ate the mille crepe cake I had bought from Ion & drank from my own bottle of Snapple haha.

Yeah... it's just pictures of me.

I anticipate that Yutaki's version of this post will also consist mostly of him. ASSUMING ANY OF THE PHOTOS EVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY SINCE HE BLOGS LIKE EVERY 3 MONTHS. Haha ok he has improved. I think he blogs once a month now lol.

Yutaki's drink, no clue what it is. I kind of feel disinclined to ever pay $8+++ for a drink.

My haricot (beans) soup with shitake mushrooms & a scallop in fried breadcrumbs!

The scallop thing was meh. The soup was pretty good though. And costs practically the same amount as a drink. Hence more logical.
