It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a great husband, father, grandfather and brother after a brief and courageous struggle with cancer on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the age of 65.

Wayne leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Arlene of 36 years, his sons Kevin (Melissa) and Darren (Desireé) and 2 grandsons Drake and Cole, his brother Gordon (Louise) and sister Ruth (Gerald) and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents Jack and Hilda Pommer and one brother Del.

Wayne was born and raised on the family farm near River Hills, MB. Wayne was a kind, great, compassionate and caring person. He had a passion for farming, mechanics and muscle cars. This he started and passed on to his two boys. He was a perfectionist in everything he did. While farming and raising his family, he also worked at B.A.C.M. Construction for many years at Birds Hill Park.

Wayne had a wonderful sense of humor and used it right to the very end. He loved fun, country music and polka.

He will be loved and deeply missed.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Interment will follow in Whitemouth Municipal Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers will be his sons Darren and Kevin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.

Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, Manitoba: information regarding Keith George Veilleux

1945 ~ 2013

Peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones at Pinawa Hospital, Keith took his final flight home. From diagnosis, in late February until his passing, he faced his fate with great courage and determination to provide for his loved ones until his end.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Sheila; daughter Tammy (Richard); son Shawn (Charmaine); stepchildren: Melissa (Phil), Richard, and Aaron (Crystal); his grandchildren: Shayre, Richard, Myles, Amber, Anthony, Layton, Jarrod, Emma, Kate, Kimberly and Mykayla; sister Carol (Albert): and brothers: Clifford (Gwen), Michael (Julie), Robert (Donna), Paul (Trina). His in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends will also sadly miss him.

He was predeceased by his brother Ian, parents Chief and Betty, and in-laws Sam and Isabelle Dunwoody.

Keith was an avid outdoorsman, and loved being on his trap line or simply out cutting wood. He especially loved the times he would spend with his boys (sons, nephews & friends). His love of nature and animals was displayed in everything about him, his home, his clothing, and the variety of pets he had over the years.

He was a very hard working man his entire life, with 28 years with the City Of Winnipeg Hydro, retiring in 2002. He went on to work at URL until his diagnosis of widespread cancer in February of this year.

In keeping with Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service, but we ask that you remember him as you take in all the wonders of the great outdoors.

Special thanks to Dr. Bruneau and the staff at Pinawa Hospital, and the Palliative Care team.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to Pinawa CancerCare, Box 220 Pinawa, MB R0E 1L0; Manitoba Diabetes Assoc. 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6; or About Face, 1057 Steeles Ave., West PO Box 702, North York, ON M2R 3X1.

“Soar like an eagle, fly like a dove, as you watch over us remember our love”

Paul Mazur passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Beausejour, at the age of 94 years.

He was predeceased by Rose, his wife of 68 years in 2012, his son Raymond, and his parents.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Leonard (Patricia), Donald (Susan), Alvin, Brian (Susan), Patrick (Connie); his daughter Linda; as well as 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Dad was born and raised in the Brokenhead-Ladywood area into a family of 14 (10 brothers and 4 sisters). There he farmed, and worked in the bush, cutting pulp. He often talked about the purchase of a Red River Thresher and a John Deere Tractor for the farm. He married Rose Urbanski on July 8, 1944 in Ladywood, Manitoba. Shortly after, in 1948 he purchased property from Anton Wielgosh ; a blacksmith shop and a small house at the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street, in Beausejour. There he eked out a living by blacksmithing, grinding grain into flour, repairing wooden wheels and sleighs, building wooden grain boxes and sawmills, welding, and so on.

Since Dad didn’t believe in borrowing money from banks, he worked long and hard hours to provide for his family of seven. Over time, he was able to expand, diversify into the Tow Truck business, and build a very reputable business. Much of the building expansion and diversity was done by himself and the family.

In the mid 1970’s, an opportunity arose and he purchased a farm in the Dencross area. He was so overjoyed to experience again the love for the land. He worked the land much like he did the Blacksmith Shop.

Dad and Mom always believed in the simple things in life. He worked so hard from early morning to late at night, pounding plough shares, and doing repairs. He instilled in us the solid core values of life that hold us in good stead to this day.

A special thank you to the staff at Beausejour Hospital and East Gate Lodge for all their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, they may sign Paul’s book of condolence at Sobering Funeral Chapel, on Saturday, May 11, 2013 between 10:00 a.m. and Noon.

Now he is resting alongside Rosie. May they rest in peace.

On April 28, 2013 Clifford Kenneth Miller of Belair, Manitoba, husband of Pauline, passed away.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his daughter Rhonda and son-in-law Dan Smith of Thunder Bay, ON; son Darren and Anya Hofmann of Winnipeg; and daughter Heather Dram of Belair. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Joshua and Rebecca Smith, Chelsea and Zachary Dram, Jamie Miller, and Patrick and Evan Hofmann. In addition, he leaves his sister-in-law Dini Miller of Rockglen, SK, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Allan Nelson of Regina, SK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cliff was predeceased by his parents William and Anna Miller, brothers: Wilmer, Raymond, and Wallace; sister Pearl; brother-in-law John Garvin; and sisters-in-law: Donna Miller and Cicely Miller.

Cliff was born December 31, 1931 at Rockglen, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm at Lisieux, Saskatchewan. He attended high school at the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute in Outlook, Saskatchewan.

He joined the Bank of Toronto in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan in 1950, and was employed in various capacities for over 36 years, residing in Regina, Winnipeg, Selkirk, and Thunder Bay. He retired to his cottage in 1986. It was while in Regina that he met the love of his life, Pauline (nee Crosson) in 1955.

The Lutheran Church played an important part in Cliff’s life. He was an active member and leader in the church in all of the communities in which he resided. He enjoyed singing and was a choir member and soloist for over 65 years. He served as Treasurer of the Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, as well as Treasurer of Luther Village. He also belonged to a number of service clubs, and was recently President of the Senior Scene, Victoria Beach. Volunteerism was a way of life for Cliff.

A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thalberg at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 with interment in the church cemetery. Pastor Mark Koenker will officiate.

Donations in Cliff’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thalberg.

Thanks go to the many health care professionals involved in Cliff’s fight with cancer, our neighbours who were always available to help out, the HELP Centre at the Senior Scene who arranged for drivers for the various appointments and treatments, and the drivers and helpers. We could not have done everything without all of you.
