Please Register for Code Camp by clicking on the Register link above and filling out the information. This will allow us to get a count of how many people will be attending this years event. Last year we had over 600 people come through the doors over two full days of sessions. Make sure your check back often to see all the new sessions.

SoCal Code Camp Schedule?

There have been a lot of questions about the schedule for code camp. We hope to have preliminary schedule posted late this week, it will change to accommodate presenters’ needs and suggestions of order. The final schedule will be posted on Monday the 22nd.

Please login and show what sessions you are interested in. Go to the Sessions page. Once you are logged in to the site and navigate to the Sessions page you will see the column titled “Interested” with a check box for each session. Please check off the sessions you are interested in. This is only sowing interest you are not forced to attend the sessions you select this is just a way for us to understand the level of interest in each session.

We have just uploaded the preliminary schedule, it will be changing until Monday Night the 22th there may be other late changes so check back for the final version. The little bars under each session title show what percentage the room would be full if all the people who expressed interest in a session went to that session. We have this so we can make adjustments to rooms as some are larger than others.

Code Camp San Diego - June 30 & July 1, 2007

UC San Diego Extension will be once again hosting our Rock & Roll Code Camp on June 30 & July 1, 2007. In the middle of May, we will update this site to receive speaker submissions, so start thinking about what you would like to talk about at our next Code Camp! We will also be planning another GEEK dinner on June 30 at the same location as last time, near the La Jolla UCSD campus. Stay tuned for details!!!

San Diego Rock and Roll Code Camp - DATE CHANGE TO JUNE 30/JULY 1

You may have noticed that we updated the date for code camp. Apparently none of us realized it was Father's day weekend, could be a slight problem for a lot of speakers and attendees (doh) so we moved the date to June 30/July 1. Same bat-location, same bat-time, same bat-GEEK dinner plans. So, stay tuned for more details!

Once you log on you will see on the main page in the far right column a question asking if you are going to be coming to Code Camp. Please let us know, you can later change your mind and we promise not to hunt you down if you don’t show but we need to start to get a head count. Thank you!

New Random site features

Your friendly SoCal Code Camp site developer has been busy adding some new stuff to this site.

The first and most random feature is a set of mobile page to show you some basic information about the sessions, presenters and the status of users, rsvps etc. Why did I create this I am often disconnected and but still want to have this information with me. To access the mobile pages just go to the "mobile" directory for the default mobile page (http://socalcodecamp.com/mobile).

The second and much more functional new feature is an RSS feed for the news items (like the one you are reading). I will be adding new feeds over time like a feed of the sessions. I hope you enjoy and pleas feel free to let me know if there are any features you would like to see here.

Volunteer at Code Camp

Code Camp is a true Community event. We could not run the event without all the support of our sponsors and the speakers from the community that make the event a success. One other aspect is the volunteers that help make the event work. We are looking for some volunteers from the community to make this event work. Would you be willing to spare a couple hours helping us out. Most volunteers will be helping out at registration and just getting people going where they need to go. Volunteering is easy. Simply go to the Contact Form and choose Volunteering. We look forward to having some of you "The Community" making Code Camp a success.

UCSD Extension - COURSE DISCOUNT just for Code Camp!!!!!

Hey everyone!!! Not only is UCSD Extension providing us with a great location for the Code Camp event, they are also going to give $100 DISCOUNT to anyone that signs up for a Summer or Fall quarter course (basically before end of year) if you attended Code Camp! Make sure you check in with the UCSD Extension representative, Helen Montgomery, who has been instrumental in helping us organize Code Camp logistics at UCSD...she will be there all day Sat and Sun for the event. They are also going to give away a Vista Ultimate license in a draw!!!!

The schedule for Code Camp has been posted! There will be changes but next Thursday 6/28 it will be finalized. We have more rooms that we can use so we will not be closing the ability to add sessions so please keep the sessions coming.

Please click on the session title for the sessions you attended and give the speaker some feedback. The top ten speakers will be getting a Microsoft Presenter 3000 so please let us know so the speakers can make their sessions better for the next Code Camp!

Wow what a Code Camp!

The 4th Southern California Code Camp is over a week behind us and we have recovered enough to start some camp cleaning… Speakers have started to and will be getting a reminder soon to upload files that are associated with their sessions. Now you need to do your part and let the speakers know how they did! You can go to the session detail page through the schedule page or the session’s list page and once you are logged in you will get the option to fill out a short survey about the session. The presenters of the top 10 sessions will be getting a Microsoft Presenter 3000 and yes there is something in it for you… we will be giving away 23 copies of CodeSmith and 5 copies of LearnVisualStudio.NET when we stop the collection of evaluations we will randomly select people who have posted evaluations.

We are now in full swing of getting Code Camp in Fullerton all set to go, you can see on the right side of the homepage how we are doing with RSVPs and sessions. With just two weeks of promotion we already have over 200 RSVPs and 31 sessions. While this is great we want more… ever code camp so far has been a bigger success then the last and we want to keep that going. Let your friends know about code camp, consider submitting a session or volunteer!

We also are excited to announce that Code Camp will also be the host for the Sleepless Roadshow this event will give participants a day long training on SharePoint and then a Overnight Developer competition that will be judged on the second day of Code Camp. The winners of the event will get an all expenses trip for the winning team to San Jose for Microsoft Office System Developer Conference!

Also, for people who have already sent us a note saying they wanted top volunteer, we have had a problem getting the e-mail addresses for people who have been volunteering. Note we have added the Sleepless Room this is where the Sleepless Road Show will be in, they have some great content for everyone and anyone who competes will get a special surprise Saturday night!

Summer Code Camp

I am sorry I thought I had done this post already but Woody Zuill is keeping me honest. We have the dates for the next code camp all set for June 28th and 29th at once again at University California San Diego! If you have not made the Code Camp at UCSD you have been missing out! We get to use their extension complex which means you get a lot of sun between sessions and for the first time we will have a XBox room setup for you to blow off some steam!

I have just uploaded the new look for this site, I hope you all like it! Please let me know if you find any issues, I have tyred to test all the functionality but I am sure I missed some stuff.

Code Camp Pre-dinner

The third Code Camp San Diego is done now! We want to thank UCSD Extension for once again hosting Code Camp, the weather and location were perfect! The Geek dinner was a blast, the tacos and drinks were great and the band Sound Cake super! We hope you all enjoyed Code Camp, please feel free to let us know how we can improve for next time and remember to thank all the sponsors that made Code Camp! We have a new Code Camp to announce! Code Camp Los Angles on October 25th & 26th at USC! This is the weekend before the Microsoft Professional Developers.
We will open up session registration in the first week in September so start thinking of what you want to talk about now.
