Friday night at Middlefield Cheese Stadium saw a pretty even game between the Aztex and the Cleveland City Stars. I was terrified through the last 15 minutes that Cleveland was going to steal a draw again, like they did last weekend. But Austin held on, and got their first win on the road.

Here's a rundown of other post-match coverage:

box score - USLSoccer.

That was the title of a letter to the editor in today's Evansville Courier Press, which was written by Mark "WK" Murty in reference to Larry Collins. Collins is an institution in youth baseball here in Evansville, and just recently had the Eastside Little League fields named in his honor.
Below is the letter than Murty wrote, and speaks volumes about what coaching is really about.

MARKHAM - Today's 7:00pm game between Pistolas FC and Silver Bullets has been changed due to field conditions.

The game will now take place at Bur Oak Secondary School, which is on Bur Oak between McCowan and Markham Road on the South Side.

The quickest way to get there is to go on Markham Road north of 16th Avenue, make a left at Bur Oak, and then drive for about a minute before you see the brand new sprawling school.

Small-Sided Drills: The Keeper

USYSA's rules for each level of small-sided play (see What are the rules for each level of small-sided play?) state that no goalkeeper should be used in 3v3 and 4v4 small-sided games. Once the numbers increase to 6v6 or 7v7, it is important to start incorporating the role of the goalkeeper into the soccer practice and game.

Normally June is a quiet month in football. Players, at least those from the top divisions, go to sun themselves in exotic locations and even managers take a break, although they make sure they have their cell phone with them in case selling and buying opportunities arise.

However, this June has been unusually busy.

The US vs. Grenada game was like the 1983 invasion, it was over quickly. In the 7th minute man of the match Robbie Rogers passed the ball to a wide open Freddy Adu, who put the ball into the back of the net. The crowd of 15,387 rose to their feet in celebration of the first goal conceded by the Spice Boyz, not to be confused with David Beckham.

It's been almost a month now since the Wizards won a game (the game against Minnesota technically goes down as a draw), and against opponents not from USL-1 they've managed to score a grand total of 2 goals in that time period. Last night's performance against Houston was just the latest in this current trouble for the Wizards.

Arsenal Will Only Get Melo If They Deal On Cash, Gallas & Eboue

The Serie A side would like some defensive reinforcements should they lose the Brazilian Felipe Melo to the Emirates. On Saturday, Fiorentina admitted that they were in negotiations with Arsenal to sell midfielder Felipe Melo to the Gunners. It was also suggested that versatile player Emmanuel Eboue would be included in the deal to lower the cash [.

Shocking: Arsenal To Swap Adebayor For £20m & Former Star?

The Milan hierarchy seem intent on chasing the Gunners striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Despite reports suggesting that Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor was set to reject a move to AC Milan, the Italian club still seem ready to make an offer for the player, according to The Mirror. The Serie A club are now, according to the British tabloid, [.

Arsenal: Unhappy Eboue might be part of the Melo deal

The Felipe Melo transfer from Fiorentina seems to be crystallizing around the club's condition that Emmanuel Eboue be part of the deal. In lieu, the Violas bring down Melo's expensive buyout clause which stands at £21 million.

This would be a great deal. Eboue has been unhappy with his lack of playing time and when he has come on the pitch, has not utilized it well.
