After a few months apart and new adventures unfolding, we have missed you. Therefore, we have decided to do a Summer Party Reunion Show to get caught up with you and speak our minds regarding Social Media changes, like we always did.

Who Are WE?

ALL of the Social Blade hosts that ever existed are returning for this Special Occasion which include, JD Rucker, Erin Ryan, Jason Urgo, Jeff Cryder, Patrick Parise and Victor Barrera! Yes, that’s right! We will ALL be together for the very first time ever! Furthermore, you my friend are invited to part take in the reunion, since you have played such a fantastic and supportive role in any and all Social Blade related ventures and beyond.

What does that mean?

It means, you will be able to join in! We will take phone calls to discuss Social Media topics with you and answer any questions you may have for any of the hosts or for the successful Social Blade YouTube stats. We are hoping to reunite all of our listeners and truly look forward to spending a few hours with you.

You can join by Skype or we will provide a phone number in which you can call in when the show is LIVE!

It comes with great sadness that this will be the last episode of the Social Blade Show at least for the foreseeable future. Please note, this is only the show that is going away, the youtube stats sites, digg stats site, blog, youtube channel, twitter account, facebook account, etc will still be up and going.

We as a team all had great ambitions for the Social Blade Show but when it comes down to it we just didn’t as a group have the time to get there. We decided that rather then running a show where we now had to start skipping weeks left and right due to travel or other circumstances we would put the show to rest while it was still hot. No one likes when their favorite tv show withers away due to the writers not being able to give it there all (Hereos anyone?) and we just felt that it would be best to wrap up (at least for now) on a high note.

We wanted to thank everyone who has helped and joined with us over the years; anyone who has ever guested on the show, anyone who has ever watched a show either live or on youtube, anyone who has ever even interacted with us on twitter, facebook, or our other social networks. Your support has been truly remarkable and we hope that you follow our individual projects until, if the day shows itself, we are able to gather back together and put on another show.

As much as we’ve enjoyed interacting and engaging with you during our live shows, the hosts of The Social Blade show have realized as a group, over the past couple of months that each of us currently have a lot occurring in our individual lives that has prevented us from giving The Social Blade Show the TLC it deserves.

We appreciate your viewership, camaraderie and fellowship.

I’m pretty active on social media. (That was my annual submission to the understatement of the year award.) I’m an over sharer on pretty much any social network I join, but I have leveled off over the last year. I’ve settled into a comfortable rhythm and am happy with my routine. When talking to coworkers or clients one the most common questions I get is around how I manage my level of activity and work and a family and all the other stuff. There are two answers to this question and I’m only going to answer one of them today.

3) Google Acquires Fflick to Boost YouTube’s Social Features
Google-owned YouTube confirmed Wednesday that it has acquired Fflick, a company that analyzes social media chatter to discover relevant content.
“We were impressed by the technical talent, design instincts and entrepreneurial spirit of the Fflick team,” YouTube said in a blog post. “As part of YouTube, the Fflick team will help us build features to connect you with the great videos talked about all over the web, and surface the best of those conversations for you to participate in.”

4) How Do Criminals Keep Updating Facebook From Prison?
As more and more inmates are finding ways to update their profiles from Facebook, the social media site is being asked to pull down the profiles of these criminals.
The Virginia Department of Corrections figured out that a Facebook page representing Joe Parrish was being maintained by the convict’s family outside of the prison where he is serving a 16-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of Tahliek Taliaferro June 20, according to CBS.

5) The Facebook Setting You Should Change as Quickly as Possible
Facebook finally provided a way to keep any random jerk in the café from hijacking your account. But you have to go out of your way to enable this protection, and you might have to wait. Still: Jump on this.
Facebook has at long last offered an option to use the encrypted “HTTPS” protocol, a feature it will begin rolling out today but won’t finish for a “few weeks.” You should check now if it’s available, and sign up as soon as it is enabled for your account. The performance overhead is minor—zippy Gmail, for example, uses HTTPS for everything—and it’s an important step to keep your Facebook account safe from being hijacked on an open or poorly secured wireless network.

6) Hearing Begins for Woman Fired Over Facebook
A hearing for a woman who was fired over remarks made on her Facebook account is scheduled to be heard by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Tuesday.
Former medical technician Dawnemarie Souza was fired on December 1, 2010 for using vulgar language to criticize her boss on Facebook after he denied one of her requests. Several co-workers joined in on the thread, making similarly negative comments about the supervisor. Souza made these comments from her private account on her own time and on her own computer.

“Live from New York its… Mark Zuckerberg?”

That is right, Saturday Night Live not only had the actor, Jesse Eisenberg and popular SNL comedian Adam Samberg opening this week’s SNL show, but the Zuck himself made an appearance.

Although it was brief, it was nice to see Mark getting social with this rare appearance and a genius idea on SNL’s part to have him on during the opening of the show. As Eisenberg who played Mark Zuckerberg in the Oscar Nominated film, The Social Network stood along side SNL’s Adam Samberg, who was imitating Zuckerberg, all the while Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook was backstage bantering with SNL’s Canadian creator Lorne Michaels.

The skit  “Will the real Mark Zuckerberg please stand up” was humorous and quickly Zuckerberg himself appeared on stage with the two other “Bergs” (Jesse Eisenberg and Adam Samberg) which led to an awkward but memorable SNL moment.

I give this 4 out of 5 pokes for Mark Zuckerberg. Judge for yourself by watching the videos.

Many people have moaned and groaned over not being able to retrieve what is happening on a Facebook Page via e-mail. Which has been a shockingly delayed process since Facebook is constantly in an updating and improving phase and allows Facebook profiles to have information sent to your e-mail.

Although Facebook is still lacking in this process, your wait is over. A tool called HyperAlerts easily allows you to receive e-mail alerts when someone posts, comments or any own content from a variety of Facebook pages.

Here is how.

1. Simply go to HyperAlerts

2. Create an account, which consists of an e-mail and password.

3. Then start adding the various Facebook Page URLs you would like to monitor.

4. Choose how often you’d like to be e-mailed and what you would like to have e-mailed to you.

HyperAlerts is still in Beta mode but is very promising, especially for those who do not have time to visit Facebook as much as they would like just to find out no one has commented. This way you could easily check your e-mail to know if your Facebook page needs a response or for sentiment monitoring, a great tool for businesses. We will keep you posted on any updates.

Mark Zuckerberg can’t escape theft lawsuit – The Winklevoss strike back? The Social Network Part 2 coming soon?
A San Francisco court on Tuesday heard the sequel to one of the Web’s most storied legal quarrels: whether Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg stole the idea for the influential social-networking site.

Three judges from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals questioned lawyers about whether to toss out a 2008 settlement between Mr. Zuckerberg and his collegiate business partners, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. While the hearing was short on new revelations, the judges showed signs of reluctance to re-open the settlement. A verdict is expected in the coming months.
