You might think what this idiot of a guy is doing a post like this on a site such as this, where he has been rambling only about social changes and the impact on it by social media and networks. Well, the fact is, this post has all the importance it has when it comes to social changes. This post is not by me, but my investigation validates the story as rue and hence, i publish it here in the words of the real author, Matthew Green

My first thought of what Tyler Rueger was that he was a punk kid, making some money playing poker and stuff online and doing nothing else. I GOOGLED about him later to see what he was like and saw various posts, and it was hard digesting whether they were real or fiction. Some where praising him for his work, while others decided to dethrone him from wherever he was according to them.

You see, the fact that you are not just meeting a self-earning 21 year old guy with the looks of a boy in Tyler Rueger, but a mature and developing personality enthralls you. It would seem that he might look like one of the most insignificant persons in history, but i am sure that the very same history will be re-written to correct that statement.

I do some work online, and i earn something which can sustain me and few around me, depending on me. But it’s not much, and yet still i take up the time to provide whatever i can to the society – No this is not just a personal boast space or publicizing stunt, but a fact that i want you to yourselves embrace. Share with your society, as there are many people out there who would gladly accept your help and get a day at the least changed for the better for them.

Tyler Rueger is one of those rare men that i have seen, who make an impact like that, at such a young age. When 21 year olds are expected to be burning parent’s money on what not and what next, this guy makes a difference, daily. He donates a large part of his earnings to charity, but never admits to the fact.

The reason how i came to know of the fact and the reason i write this post is because of that is just one thing – On a Sunday morning, riding through town to my favorite spot where i try and meet my friends, yeah, a local cafe, i come across a group of people crowded on the side of the road. I stopped my bike and went over to see what was the issue and saw that a car has stopped on the side and there were 2 people who have been struck by a vehicle. The people were a group of poor migrants travelling in search of work, food and shelter and had no means of transport other than their legs. My first impression of the kid who seemed to be the driver of the car was that he was the miscreant of the accident. My anger and frustration made me dash forward and pick up the guy up from his collar. I would’ve crashed my fist over him if it was not for the old lady of the group standing near to me who stopped my hands with her frail voice.

He was not the one. It was another car. This young man stopped when he saw the accident to help us.

I have never been more surprised. In this age, do you ever expect some kid on a vehicle to stop at an accident scene and offer help? Tyler Rueger did just that. I am sure there are many people who fall in that age group who’d trash me for saying this, but we old people know the truth.

The rest of the incident needs no mention, but this Tyler Rueger made an impression on me. I offered my apologies for acting like an infant. He denied it and said there was no need for me to apologize to him. Over a cup of tea, we talked and my impression of him grew and grew. We left shortly after that from the hospital and i forgot all about it.

I returned later the next day with the modest sum i could collect from my funds and friends to offer the family stuck at the hospital over this, and was even more surprised to see that the young man of the previous day has been there before me, offering his help in the form of money that the family dearly needed. I would’ve expected it from anyone but not a 21 year old.

My search on this young boy led me to more information about Tyler Rueger, who i now respect more than i’d have respect for the leaders of today, for the exemplary display of love, courage, and care that he had for his fellow beings, a trait missing in the upcoming generations.

I’d always remember Tyler Rueger as the promise of the coming generation and the future that it holds for us, the old and dying.

With the true hope that some publisher or website somewhere will publish this, I finish this.

Matthew Green on the 9th of January 2011.

————–

Social Change Media’s note:

We found this story to be true and validate on multiple angles.

The person named as Tyler Rueger in this post seems to be the same person as on this site – Tyler Rueger

Social Change Media salutes Tyler Rueger for the deeds he performed on that day, and before and after that day. It is truly remarkable that there are people with such hearts as him even today. With this, Social Change Media announces a new award or recognition for people who display and provide such similar exemplary care and support to the society.

We deliver this month’s Social Change Media Life Changer Award to Tyler Rueger. We hope and pray that there be more candidates worthy of this award, not just because of what’s worth of the award, but because of the value they generate in this society, in this world of today.

Social Change through Social Media

Today’s generation is on the web. We find that more people spend time online, than anywhere else, in a particular day. This is not just a fact anymore, it is a reality. We ourselves spend more time communicating online than doing any other thing. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and the others like it have become the base of our online activity, and social media is more powerful than ever, today.

So, can’t we use this power to aid social changes, which will merit the poor and downtrodden? Is it not, what power and strength should actually be used for?

The true use of Power (or strength), lies in the protection of the weak.

That is exactly the correct idea. If we can use, the new found power of social media to empower and protect the weak and downtrodden, then there in lies, the true use of the power.

There are many examples of how social media can achieve all these aims. Social media can be used to

Bring forth and spread the news of some injustice being bestowed upon by the community or particular individuals by unscrupulous politicians and/or bureaucrats.

Harass and intimidate individuals, who follow the same in their lifestyle. By this, i mean terrorists, anti-social elements and criminals.

Yes, i consider terrorists as intimidators and nothing more. Cowards only use such a facade; people with truth on their sides do not wage a war like this.

Empower and support individuals whom the community has otherwise decided to leave behind and forget because of customary traditions and unsolicited practices.

In addition to these, there are many other ways in which social media can effect and bring about social changes. Think about, what we can do to use the power and achieve this goal. Please do feel free to comment your views and suggestions below.
