The stock market did little to suppress the enthusiasm of those who were in the tech trenches, at least if they were in the marketing end of tech! This created the kind of demand for tech talent that finding the best talent was still more valuable than it was the year before.

the Way Google Works Changed Because of Social Media

For the past 16 years I have a made a good living from what is commonly known as SEO. To my mind, that has always meant being able to understand the motivations behind the people doing the programming, or paying to have it done, and applying that understanding to make educated guesses about what the search engine is wanting to see in determining which URL goes to the top for specific keyword search. Not only do you need to figure what they want now, it is also VERY helpful for longevity if you can also figure what they are going to want in the future.

Social Media Marketing - Why it is Better than SEO

Ever had anyone try to define SEO?
YIKES !
Go to just about any seo forum and just look through the archives of threads that attempt to address that topic. Clear as mud huh?
Here is what was returned by Google for a search for define: SEO
http://tinyurl.com/43n7c59
The circular debates at forums were more focused!
Now, when definingMARKETING, the definitions start to make a LOT more sense.

Social Media Statistics!

*If you're still having doubts about the impact of social media comments/links on organic search results
*If you are still clinging to thinking page rank is what you need
*If you are still spending your time submitting URLs to directories
*If you are still sending emails begging for links instead of begging for comments
*If you still think building forum profiles is a good investment of your time
Then you most likely have not gotten your head wrapped around the concept that computer programs are only tools to enable humans to screw things up much faster and with less accountabililty BUT HUMANS ARE RELEVANT!
When a search engine SPIDERS for html LINKS, the spiders are manipulated by humans with an agenda. When the spiders find LINKS, far too many of those are manipulated by humans with an agenda.
So of these items, which do YOU think is relevant?

Spider
Links
Agenda
Humans

So, if your goal was to increase shareholder value, year after year, day after day and minute after minute, and your business model was selling advertising near content that was displayed in response to a user generated search, then you want as many people as possible doing those searches where YOU control the results.

Social Media Pushes you to #1. - Updated

Let me ask a question.

WHY YOU GET MUCH FASTER INDEXING AND ORGANIC PLACEMENT USING SOCIAL MEDIA THAN TRADITIONAL LINK BUILDING!

I find it so gratifying that Google and Bing are accepting the inherent value in the honest simplicity of people just talking with other people.
The entire obsession with links was borderline crazy from the first day the idea took hold when considered as a signal of relevancy for a specific topic at least in my personal opinion.
What was even crazier was Google's stance that they somehow owned the process of linking simply because they built an algorithm to track and score links.

SMO Success Secret! How to Use the Law of Disparity to Dominate the Search Results

SMO Success Secrets or the Social Media Law of Disparity:
The number of social media references required to gain superior exposure in organic search results is totally dependent on the history of the human creating the reference.

Throughout 16 year career in Outsourcing SEO, (and now SMO since they are basically the same thing), one of the most difficult aspects has been how to answer very broad questions with very specific answers. One of the most common questions to illustrate my point is
"How do I get to #1".

Social Media Marketing Just Got Easier

I was starting to think it couldn't get any easier and then I saw this today:"Subscribe" Option So Strangers Can Get Your Status UpdatesFacebook is rolling out a new feature called, "subscribe," which is a lot like Twitter's "follow" functionality. With subscribe you can get status updates from someone that you're not friends with on Facebook, as long as they allow it. One of the great things about Twitter is that (for the most part) you can follow celebrities, journalists, or industry figures without having their permission.

#1 in 4 Days with Social Media SEO

Let me ask a question.

Social media and how it works in conjunction with organic SEO is an emerging field. While the impact of social media has been discussed and accepted as having an HUGE impact, it is only since the Panda update that the true significance can be easily seen and quantified.

There is a LOT of companies advertising social media management services but the sad fact is, the majority are offering little more than setting up fake Twitter/ Facebook profiles.

Local Social Media SEO

Using social media to move local placements is VERY easy! All you have to do is the same you&d do for national placements except do it within the researched confines of your target location!
We have a new reseller in a major market and with the VERY first post in his Blikini platform we hit #2 for a VERY powerful Social Media Outsourcing term in the organic results in less than 4 days! That&s right under 4 days on the first post in a brand new domain and with very few inbound links and only 20% of them from traditional sources like forums and blogs. The trick is in defining your target market and then doing the research to make sure the promotion you do is in LOCAL social media communities.
You need to make sure and cover your basics such as making sure you have a verifiable local address and phone number, existing place page doesn&t hurt and maps is killer BUT you don&t really HAVE to have them and you can still place in the organics even with strong competition.

SEO grows up & sees the value of Social Media

For years I spent a lot of time in forums and then blogs that related specifically to SEO and online marketing.
