Teen Takeover: The Voices & Vibes Festival April 26 & 27th

If you have no plans for your teens this Friday and Saturday, you do now. The Voices and Vibes teen festival takes places this weekend. The event is a way to engage metro Atlanta teens in the arts.

The "Voices" part of the festival kicks off this Friday at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. Talented teens will showcase their talent through singing, dancing, and other live forms of entertainment.

This event starts at 7 pm.

The "Vibe" part of the festival kicks off this Saturday, and will feature free interactive workshops like, live mural painting, digital storytelling, print making, drum circle, and poetry slam. Teens attending will also be able to tour the amazing Freida and Diego exhibit at the High Museum, and participate in themes workshops like Fashion for Frida and Sugar Skulls.

My best friend birthday is coming up and I could not make her original birthday party, soooooo, what do best friend do?!? I planned her a luau themed party at a cutesy little Mexican Restaurant called Tijuana Garage in the five points area of Atlanta. Here are some party picture below:

I also attended an Indie concert at the Asylum showcasing various hip hop artist. I had the chance to interview upcoming hip hop star Richie NoDoze before he hit the stage. In our interview, I learned he grew up in a family of majority women, right here in Atlanta, graduating from Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, GA. His role model is his mother and inspiration in making sure he accomplishes his personal goals. Richie also gave me the scoop on his favorite hidden gems in Atlanta to visit, which are Apres Diem and Side Bar. I just added those places to my "yummy visit list" they both look amazing and have stellar reviews. He also enjoys watching movies like Zoolander (a hilarious classic), Fightclub, and Friday the 13th movies, he gets two thumbs up from me on the scary movies (my faves).

Richie NoDoze is no stranger to the entertainment industry, he worked at several radio stations in Alabama and hosted local shows and events centered around music parodies. I really enjoyed interviewing Richie; he was energetic, ambitious, positive, and articulate. He has a very bright future and I predict he will be topping charts around the country soon.

16^th – I attended the Phaze of Love – Choreographer Event at The King Plow Center. I had never attended an event quite like this one and I was pleasantly surprised at the passion and drive these inspirational dancers possess. The creator of the event is Cici Kelley, she started the event in 2008 as a platform for up and coming choreographers. Kelley is a accomplished choreographer and is no stranger in choreographing for celebrities. 19^th - I attended Puffs Kisses Beauty Event at Adore Hair Salon in Virginia Highlands. Puffs hosted a magical evening for some amazing women. Puffs partnered with Dress for Success and donated $1 for every virtual kiss sent via facebook. The event at Adore was a celebration of the Kisses Campaign and all things beauty. I had an awesome time getting a massage, chatting with new and old friends, and learning more about Puffs as a beauty brand! My love for Puffs grew after attending this event, I heart businesses that get involved in the community.

2^nd – Lunch at Lillys in Phipps – Lilly Pulitzer - I attended this event with my darling friend Nikka Shae. I just have to say Lillys has to be one of the happiest stores to shop in with the vibrant bright pinks, greens, lilacs, and aquas. If you are having a bad day or just looking for a fab-tastic place to shop, Lilly Pultizer is the place to be. I found some gorgeous wine glasses that actually whispered “buy me” and a few other girly pieces for spring. 21^st – Iwi Fresh Bloggers Night Out – There is nothing better than being pampered and hanging with the girls. This spa is utterly amazing; I love their all natural homemade products and down to earth staff. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and cool that you would have thought we knew each other for years and I just met them that night. Iwi Fresh is not only a spa but hair salon too. I did not get my hair down, but the spa services were so relaxing and the ambience green feel of the spa has me checking my calendar for a free date I can return. They have amazing deals as well, and they are located downtown in the Castleberry Hills district. Please treat yourself and visit this spa for a mani/pedi or massage, this will be you new favorite unwind relaxation haven.

24^th – My mini bop turned 14, she woke me up the morning of her birthday, by jumping on to my bed to tell me it’s her birthday. I still can not believe my daughter is 14 already, I remember just yesterday she was taking her first steps from the living room to the kitchen for apples and now we are talking cars, colleges, and clothes.

I love scents especially when I am washing dishes, I am not ashamed to say that in my whole 4 years of living in my home I have not one time used my dishwasher. I enjoy being a traditional person in this aspect. Recently, I was send Palmolive® Fresh Infusions to review and I have to give this product 5 stars out of 5. I love the scents, and its very gentle on skin. The scent leaves me feeling at bit of zen while washing my dishes and it lathers well. I also love the bottle design but I don't think I have seen much advertising for this product.

All in all, this product has AllyMcGlam seal of fabness!

This Sunday I attended Black Bride 3^rd Annual Bridal Show with the Blog Fab Fashionista's and we had a dashing time. The event took place at the stunning Marriot Marquis in downtown Atlanta. This year they debut bridal gown collections from famed designers, Therez Fleetwood, Brides by Demetrios, Kathy Ireland, Bryan K. Osburn and a Black Bride Collection by Therez Fleetwood. They also had some dapper Tuxedo’s on the runway by Express Tuxedo.

A very special gown was created in honor of Black Bride’s CEO, Mary Chapman best friend honor who lost her battle to cancer earlier this year it’s a very special, one of a kind “Della” gown. A percentage of the sales will go toward the American Cancer Society for continued education and research.

The prizes they gave away were amazing, prizes like a honeymoon trip to Barcelo Punta Cana provided by Barcelo Resorts and LT Travel, A couture wedding gown from Allure Bridal valued at $5000, National TV and Radio Personality Egypt Sherrod gave away a $250 gift certificate to one very lucky bride toward the purchase of a wedding gown, one lucky couple will have a chance to be featured in their very own wedding reality web-series that will air on CocoaFab.com.

The one thing that really captured my attention at the bridal show was the “Man Cave” decked out for the grooms sponsored by The Alpha Groom. I know men usually feel out of place at bridal show since most brides are so hands on with everything and already have a basic outlined wedding in their minds prior to even meeting the groom. I know for me the whole wedding was planned out by age 17 but I did not met Prince Charming until age 23. The whole event was just simply blissful for both brides and grooms. You do not want to miss the next Black Bride Bridal Show in 2014.

She's danced with Beyonce, choreographed for Toni Braxton, appeared on MTV Made & most recently was the onset choreographer for the film Last Vegas with Robert Dinero & Morgan Freeman.

As I reflect on 2012, I just can not stop smiling!

You never know where life will take you and this year has brought nothing but great happiness in every part of my life.

My biggest obstacle was forgiving my narcissistic mother, and I must say there is power in forgiveness. I even noticed little changes like a call or a text message once in a while.

My women's social group Socialite's grew from 300 to over 700 this year.

I planned my first baby shower for my awesome friend, Ije.

Renamed this blog, from "Socialites in the City" to "AllyMcGlam", and did little brand tweaking.

Watched my dear friend, marry her prince charming.

Gained a plethora of bubbly, upbeat gal pals.

Created my first youtube video! Check me out here -> AllyMcGlam TV

Finally, kicked my blackberry for a Iphone.

Signed up for beauty boxes like birchbox, My Glam, & Beauty Bar (I love them all).

Became a Blog Fab Fahionista, where bloggers unite!

Took my mini-me to Disney.
