I just checked my blog ranking in Alexa, and there are little changes. Alexa now has a new face, I don't know exactly when this change was announced, but I like it. : D

How To : Setup Facebook Chat in Pidgin with Jabber/XMPP

Facebook has announced that they are using the Jabber/XMPP protocol on Facebook Chat. This means that we can use the IM client to chat. Actually, it has been published since 2008 in a note written by a Facebook engineer, and in February 2010 ago Facebook announced that Facebook Chat with Jabber/XMPP protocol was ready to serve Facebook users around the world.

To set up your IM client or Pidgin, you will need a little configuration. I use Pidgin in this instance, please adjust these parameters with your IM client.

1. Go to "Accounts" and select "Manage Accounts."
2. On the Basic tab

Enter the following info:
Protocol: XMPP
Username: [your Facebook username, check your account setting]
Domain: chat.facebook.com
Resource: Pidgin
Password: [your Facebook password]
Local alias: [your name]
3. Click the Advanced tab

Enter the following info:
Connect port: 5222
Connect server: chat.facebook.com
(Uncheck the box labeled "Require SSL / TLS")

Ok, that's it. You can chat with your friends with an IM client.

How To : Resize Images in Folder With Imagemagick

Resizing an image looks very easy, but what if you have a lot of pictures in a folder? Actually, there are so many tools that can resize all your images, but most of them are paid software. I'm gonna share a very lightweight tool and of course free, even open source. : D, It's called ImageMagick.

If you are using Linux, then you've always heard the name of ImageMagick. But maybe you very rarely use this software, because it is a console-based software. No GUI.

Then, how to resize all images in a folder at once with ImageMagick?
Ok, make sure that ImageMagick has been installed on your Linux. If not installed, use the following command (I'm using Ubuntu) :


$ sudo apt-get install ImageMagick

Once ImageMagick is installed, use the command mogrify command to resize the images. Go to your images folder before you execute the command mogrify.


$ mogrify-resize 50% *. JPG

(Change 50% with your desired size and. JPG filetype with your images.) Wait until the process finished.
