The Vampire Diaries Can’t Stick to this ‘Death’ Idea

This picture of Caroline from last night’s episode “History Repeating” of The Vampire Diaries is kind of how I felt about the entire episode. I’m not sure if I really didn’t like the episode, or if I was just in a bad mood when I watched it. It’s tricky! The major problem I have with the show is that we’re told how they’re going to be ruthless in killing people off – which is cool.

I’d actually love to watch a show where none of the main characters in promo pics lived through a season, and it was a rotating cast in a show where the plot and setting was what was most important. Anyway, the show killed off one character but they’re giving us so many fake scares that it makes me never feel invested or worried for anyone.

Last night they fake killed Bonnie and then fake turned her into a vampire (implied this for the cut to commercial, at least!) and then she was totally fine. They also brought back a character they killed off several episodes ago. I mean, this is just sloppy writing. Start killing more people off if you tell us you’re going to kill people off! Otherwise you’re just a TEASE.

Penelope Cruz was promoting too projects on The Jay Leno Show, and she had to earn her plug for one of them by teaching Jay to dance. Cruz played up the moment to embarrass Leno, and he did it gladly. Well, I guess he really needs the ratings!

Holiday Movie Marathon on FX

FX is going to be having plenty of good holiday TV to watch this December. Movies include Live Free or Die Hard, Deck the Halls, Spider-Man 3, Firehouse, and Night at the Musem.

Live Free or Die Hard premieres Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm e/p

John McClane stops cyber terrorists? Sure, I guess that’s a plot. I’ve never seen this movie but with a cast that includes not just Bruce Willis but also Justin Long and Timothy Olyphant, I feel kinda compelled to watch.

Deck the Halls premieres Thursday, December 3rd at 8:00pm e/p

Danny DeVito, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Davis and Kristin Chenoweth start in this movie which I’ve never heard of. It involves neighbors competing over Christmas decoratings. And maybe aliens.

Spider-Man 3 premieres Thursday, December 10th at 7:00pm e/p

Spiders, goblins and a Sandman – oh my!? Toby Maguire, Kirstin Dunst, James Franco and Thomas Haden Church are in this blockbuster movie.

Firehouse premieres Saturday, December 19th at 3:30pm e/p

A firehouse adopts a lost dog who turns out to be Rexxx – a famous Hollywood dog. The dog and a young kid help make the firehouse better. These are exactly the kinds of holiday memories I have.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS MARATHON airs on Saturday, December 19th from 12:30pm – 3:30pm

FX will be airing Christmas episodes from shows like The Bernie Mac Show, Malcolm in the Middle and That ‘70s Show.

Night at The Museum CHRISTMAS EVE/CHRISTMAS DAY MARATHON airs on Thursday, December 24th from 6:30pm to 2:00am e/p and Friday, December 25th from 7:00am to 7:30pm

You’ll have eight chances to watch Night at the Museum. If you miss all of those chances, then I’m guessing you really don’t care about seeing this movie.

Smallville Fans say FINALLY: Lois and Clark Kiss

A bunch of stuff is going to be happening in the Friday episode of Smallville, but the most important thing to me is that Callum Blue will guest star! And of course, Lois and Clark will be kissing…

I haven’t followed this show very closely in a long, long while. I personally miss Lana and Lex (not together, just on the show). And I always liked Clark and Lana, so it’s hard for me to see Lois and Clark together even though I know that’s canon to Superman. It just doesn’t feel like it can ever feel canon to this particular show. Yikes.

Heroes last week was amazing, so let’s pray to the TV gods (I am a TV guru, not a TV God!) that tonight’s episode is just as good! Will Claire and Gretchen kiss again? Let’s watch clips! And yes, I am using a lot of exclamation points. Guess what? I’m NOT going to mention that the title for this Heroes episode (Tabula Rasa) has been used by way too many other TV shows already for it to be original!

Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku was on “The Late Show with David Letterman” this October. I’m loving Dollhouse, and I always love Dushku. But what don’t I love? This almost stylish look. I mean, the one-handed glove is just ridiculous and asking for trouble. Does she think she’s honoring Michael Jackson? His was sparkly. Anyway. The dress definitely needs the statement necklace there, but somehow it’s does not work. The dress color is a soft color, and to make up for that Eliza decided to cover every other aspect of herself in black. She still looks almost naked. The entire thing is almost a mess. But just almost. The hair saves it.

Let’s take a little look-see at what some of our favorite (or most hated?) faces on Gossip Girl are wearing. Serena’s favoring heeled sandals with cut-outs and Blair’s vibrant DVF blouse makes me want to reconsider yellow.

Our Undeniable Love for Gwen Stefani

I may not have loved the look styled for Gwen Stefani on the recent cover of Glamour, but I have an undeniable love for her anyway. It’s difficult to pick what my favorite Stefani songs are, but all of them put me in a good mood. That’s the perk of pop music. I think my favorite Gwen Stefani song would have to be Rich Girl featuring Eve. Even the music video for that song is amazing. “If I was rich girl (na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na nah)” – it’s just so catchy, you know? Gwen Stefani ring tones perk me up no matter who’s calling me.

It’s virtually impossible to hear, “A few times I’ve been around that track” without someone (or yourself) responding with, “So it’s not just gonna happen like that! Cause I ain’t no hollaback girl. I ain’t no hollaback girl!” That, of course, is the Stefani song Hollaback Girl. And it’s another gem of a song. I have What You Waiting For? (from Love.Angel.Music.Baby) on my iPod for when I want to work it on the treadmill.

Classic No Doubt songs include Rock Steady (Rock Steady), Spiderwebs (Tragic Kingdom), Just a Girl (Tragic Kingdom), Don’t Speak (Tragic Kingdom), Ex-Girlfriend (Return of Saturn), and Simple Kind of Life (Return of Saturn). I remember the first time someone introduced me to the Tragic Kingdom album at a sleepover. It felt like a revelation. So if you know any young girls who haven’t been introduced to Gwen Stefani yet, do them a favor and clue them into her. You’ll have good karma!
