At last Kushina makes an appearance. Why Naru-Saku Theory may fail?

After a long gloomy era in Naruto Manga, something cheerful happened. Muchimuchi-no-Kushina makes her first in-person appearance in Naruto Manga. Now, Naruto knows everything about his parents (or does he? this is the best part about Naruto, there are a lot of expected surprises). Now, we know that Naruto’s dattebayo is Kushina’s dattebane. But why I am writing this article is not because I am jealous of densetsu-no-yondaime-hokage, or I liked the way Naruto declared himself konoha-no-orange-hokage. I may have an answer to the question that why Kishimoto did not club Naruto and Sakura, while Naruto made it damn clear that he loves Sakura. The following statement may put Naru-Saku fans to shut their trap and respect Hinata’s love for Naruto.

Of course you have the freedom to disagree and abuse me for using unfounded incidents to derive the conclusion. You are free to do so. What are Sakura’s traits: Red Hair, short-tempered, saying Shannaro when agitated, underestimate people and many more happy-to-remember personality traits. Now, what I am proposing is probably Naruto and Sakura are siblings. Now you have it. You laughed? or did you just abused me in complete vigor? or may be you said “I knew it! Do you remember what I said?”

I have connected the two on the basis of personality. One more information that interests me is Kushina’s last name. Uzumaki literally means Whirlpool. And Sakura is genjutsu type. Not only that she can use her genjutsu ability, but was aware of it since childhood. She must have some strong family-background in genjutsu to be that talented. But this also puts Sakura in relation with Kurenai-“Sensei” who is another muchimuchi-no-babe I admire in Naruto.

Whereabouts of Sakura’s parents is unknown. Ok, you can say that she lives with her parents, but what the hell her parents were doing all the time, or they got annihilated when pain shinra-tenseied konoha, because they had pledged not to leave home and never show their faces to viewers and readers. You know who are Hinata’s parents, you even have to watch Kiba’s parents rocking with their doggy (as if Kiba alone was not enough of a torture).

There are only two persons: Naruto and Sakura, we don’t know where their parents are. Ok, we know about Naruto but what about Sakura. Why do I get a feeling that Sakura is going to be extremely evil. submitting to extreme pressure and personal selfishness.

Naruto Shippuden’s Worst Episode which was expected to be the Best: Naruto Shippuden’s Viewership

In this post I question the intended viewership of Shippuden. Why such a question arises? You will know soon. Now there a lot of anime out there but very few are worth following, and Naruto deserves fan following. Before starting to pour out my frustrations on last week’s episode titled “Sage Mode Explosion” which should have been titled “Sage Mode Assplosion”, I would like to make it clear that this article is not fit for every reader. Not only because of slangs but it may contain spoilers for those who do not read Naruto Manga. If you just clicked on the “Manga” link in last sentence and don’t know what a manga is then stop right here and don’t read further.

Of Course, I read Manga and have been following Naruto for over an year. I read Naruto v/s Pain or what should I say Kyuubi v/s pain and waited one long year, you know 1.5% time of my life on the planet earth to watch it in live action and with thrilling music and special effects, but what do I get? This is what I get:

Naruto appears.. Hurray!! its time for some ass-kicking. Jiraiya’s theme bring back the old memories and it seems that Naruto is a formidable opponent worthy of a sannin’s “entry” music. Now, director thinks that it is time for some filler, and says lets give importance to other “not-so-important” characters. So, because of his so-much intellectual decision, I have to wait for 10 minutes watching everybody else (not Naruto) recover from Shinra Tensei (They ruined the “Sekkai no Itami o” episode also. The list is long. Anyways .. ) to kill a body in one blow with rasengan. Ok, I watched it and was hopeful that there are not going to be such unworthy interruptions in action anymore. But guess what, the director made one more such decision showing crap about others when there is something much more important going around in some nearby area (He doesn’t give a damn. Damn!!). But, I was not surprised. I knew this is going to happen, but was just hoping otherwise. After a long time of action which was good, but it was not this action for which I was waiting for, it happened. You know it, I was waiting to watch Naruto crushing his opponent under his tremendous power. Yes Futon-Rasenshuriken. Now the moment arrives, Naruto interrupts Pain bragging out his Philosophy of war and suffering, Futon builds up, enormous amount of chakra whirling in Naruto’s hand, Pain’s many resources are put to Naruto’s mercy, Naruto’s sage-teacher is shocked to see such a power, wait, there is more, Naruto throws it, hell-yeah, “how can he throw such a dense mass of chakra”, (after all he is the son of legendary fourth hokage). Then what? Pain was to be crushed and THE EPISODE ENDS.

That long 20 minutes episode out of which 10 minutes was rubbish ended with nothing. Now I am left with a question: what is the intended viewership of Naruto Shippuiden? If you are asking why such a question is important. Because viewers put their expectations, hope, time and many other things to watch an episode every week.

I will divide Naruto viewers into two groups: those who follow manga regularly and those who don’t. I follow manga, so I expect from episodes. This is my own opinion as a viewer who knows what is going to happen. But story and plot is not the only motivation, I watch it because it has action, music, moving people. Anime serves something that a manga is not able do, it creates a interactive environment where you have to use more than one sense to perceive the scene (This is what attracts me to Naruto Anime).

I will continue watching this anime till it does not frustrate me to the limits (Bleach has crossed this limit). But, I still wonder how many people watch Naruto Shippuden for story alone and how many watch it for action.

13 Manga that deserve Readership

Ha!!!! This has been a long post. Writing reviews and synopsis is the most difficult thing I have ever done. Though I enjoyed writing most of the synopsis but for few it was a boring task to do. Following is the list of 13 Manga that I recommend you to read, if you have not already (Of course, I have read them). All of these manga are unique in themselves and are worth reading. I have included my short review for all of them followed by the plot. Enjoy!!!

1. Naruto

Naruto so far is the best manga I have ever read. The plot is excellent and story-narration is fantastic. The characters have been designed very well, and there is no inconsistency in the plot and behavior of the characters.

Before 12 years of the current timeline of the story, The village-hidden-in-the-leaves (Konohagakure) was attacked by a monster called the nine-tailed-fox (it indeed was a fox with nine tails). All the shinobis of the village gathered to fight against this demon. During the battle, leader of the village, The Fourth Hokage sealed the nine-tail-fox in a new-born-child. This child was called Uzumaki Naruto. The whereabouts of Naruto’s parents is unknown. He is hated by the village, as everyone considers him a monster because of the sealed fox. Naruto has only one dream, that is to become Hokage (Leader of Konohagakure, regarded as the strongest Shinobi in the village) and prove his existence to everyone. What lies ahead for Naruto is a difficult path full of dangerous battles and difficult choices…

2. Dance in the Vampire Bund

This manga is intended for mature readers, and is one of the best in its league. DitVB is a political, thriller and action manga. Political debates and fights are interesting to read while how the work affect persons daily life and relation has also kept me following this manga.

After centuries in hiding, the queen of all the vampires, Mina Tepes shocks the world by declaring construction of permanent district to be inhabited solely by vampires. Humans are terrified with the thought of existence of vampires and a district full of them. Vampires being wealthy, are helping Japan to overcome their failing economy, which compels the nation to sanction the construction of Vampire Bund. But there are others who stand in the way of the noble cause initiated by Mina. Who are these people? Or is construction of Vampire Bund really a noble cause? Meanwhile, a down-to-earth highschool boy, Kaburagi Akira discovers that by fate he is bound to be the personal guard of Mina Tepes. How will he handle this abrupt knowledge? Will the construction of Vampire Bund be successful? Will Mina be able to fight the miscreants and maintain social stability? How will this bloody political dance end?

3. Change 123

Hmmm, the reason I like change 123 is because of the plot and its artwork. The facial expressions are one the best I have ever seen. The battles are breathtaking. This manga is worth reading. Like DitVB, this is also a seinen manga.

A shy girl, Mokoto has been through very strange childhood. Her mother died early and left her under three guardians, each of them supreme masters of three different martial arts. Mokoto spent her childhood under the care of each of her guardians separately. This developed in her three split personalities, each one corresponding to her three fathers. Apart from being shy, Mokoto resists any kind of dispute, but when a conflict cannot be avoided, the other personalities take over the job of protecting her and this usually results in gruesome battle in which the other side is terribly harmed. She never remembers what happens during the period when split personalities are active, and she never likes the bloody-results of the battles. One day Mokoto meets a boy, Kosukegawa who is also her classmate, and both become fond of each other. Though Kosukegawa likes only Mokoto, he starts adjusting with her strange problem. Where will their life lead them to? Will Mokoto be able to control her other personalities?

4. Dragon Ball

Toriyama Akira-sensei rocks! I have “heard” (probably you might have heard) that Dragon Ball is for kids and it stands nowhere near Naruto. The latter part is true, but I am skeptical towards the former statement. Dragon Ball is a Manga with unique sense of humor and great artwork. If you want to laugh a lot while reading a Manga then this one is a must read.

Son Goku is a pure-hearted, 12-year-old grandson of Son Gohan. Goku loves everything but evil persons and their evil plans. One day, by accident Goku meets an arrogant girl Buruma who is searching for Dragon Balls. There are in total seven Dragon Balls, which when combined cause something incredible happens. Goku joins Buruma on her quest and their adventures start. Further it is revealed that Goku is not a normal kid and is extremely powerful fighter. As the story proceeds we get to know more about Goku’s past and why he is so powerful. Will they succeed in combining the Dragon Balls? If yes, then what will happen then?

5. No Bra

There is no bra in No Bra. It is not needed. To know why, read the manga. This manga is intended for boys. The depiction of a boy’s thoughts in his early adulthood when his mind is full of ever increasing confusions, is very good. You will be laughing at the situation in which the main character of the story is. And he is really caught in a tight spot!

Masato, a middle-school boy gets a call from his father, that one of his childhood friend is coming to Tokyo and will live with him in his apartment. Masato is really furious for the loss of his privacy. More to his discontentment, the childhood friend who joins him is Yuki, a girl. But soon Masato knows that Yuki is not a girl but a boy who likes to live a girl’s life! Masato is not ready to believe this and is unable to resist his temptation to look at Yuki’s well-shaped body. Soon Masato falls into relationship with one of his classmates Oozora, who is the most beautiful girl in the school. This is where the life becomes hell for him. His mind is full of confusion and desires. “Should I love Yuki? But Yuki is a boy!! But he is so cute and sexy! I also have Oozora and she is very beautiful. Still I cannot neglect Yuki! Should I breakup with Oozora? I am so pathetic and so on”. How will Masato handle this situation?

6. Ane Doki

This is the most frustrating manga I have ever read, still I am recommending it to you. You will know the reason when you read it. It doesn’t mean that the manga is not worth reading. What is so good in this manga? The way story has been narrated and complex relationships have been portrayed. The ups and downs in the story and drawing of everyday life is so good.

Ah, the dream of 13! Kouta is our normal everyday boy, living with his fun-loving workaholic father. Lusting after the school idol in his class, playing games with his friend, there's nothing especially noticeable about him. But one day his father has to transfer to Sapporo for a time and mysteriously appear a girl who volunteers to be Kouta's live in caretaker. And what a girl! Everything about her is mysterious: her mysterious incredibly showy body, her mysterious interest in our boy, her mysterious need to sleep in the same room...

7. History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi

This was the second manga I read and the first manga I have read from first chapter to the end. It took me 2 days to complete first 10 chapters and seven days to complete 300+ next chapters. There is huge amount of theory on martial arts and you will be able to follow it. I do not much appreciate the artwork but you should read it!

Shirahama Kenichi is a highschool student who is bullied by everyone. He is frustrated with his miserable life. One day he becomes good friends with the new transfer student Furinji Miu, a girl who is a powerful martial artist. Kenichi decides to fight back others who bully him, and asks Miu to teach him martial arts. Miu agrees and Kenichi starts growing stronger. But, one day Miu asks Kenichi to go to a place. Kenichi follows her advice and ends up in a dojo where six extremely powerful persons, each one master of a particular martial art, resides. He starts training in the Dojo and soon discovers through rigorous training that the path of martial arts is not easier. How will Kenichi grow? Does a kind person like Kenichi will fight someone? Discover the extraordinary life of History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi …

8. Bleach

Most of the popularity of bleach is due to its action scenes. The storyline is excellent up to first 350 or so chapters and then the plot becomes kind of uninteresting. The artwork of this manga is unique and I don’t like it. Most of the times Black and White are the only colors and there are no tones and shades in the panel. It becomes really painful to differentiate between different entities in the page.

Kurosaki Ichigo, a high-school boy, who can see ghosts, becomes a Shinigami (Death-God) after absorbing power from Kuchiki Rukia. Kuchiki Rukia, being stripped off of her powers, asks Ichigo to complete her Shinigami duties. Soon he becomes friends with Rukia and the life full of battle rolls on. One day he comes to know that there are Shinigami who are much more powerful than he is and they are not so friendly! What lies ahead for Ichigo in this dangerous Shinigami business?

9. Death Note

What an excellent mind game. Brain twister really! The plot is excellent and you should enjoy reading it if you are into mystery, thriller and detective thing.

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects--and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. Looking into the high mortality rate of prisoners and their abnormal death circumstances, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal... or his life? One of them will be defeat and defeat means losing their life. Who will win? Who will die? What kind of death awaits them?

10. Liar Game

This one is better than Death-Note when it comes to strategies and politics.

100,000 persons in Japan get a postcard congratulating them on their inclusion in the Liar Game Tournament. Attached with the postcard are 1 Million Yen. Rules of the game? Every participant has to return One Million Yen after 30 days when the game ends. If an opponent steals your money, he can keep them and you will be in debt of 1 Million Yen ….

11. Mysterious Girlfriend X

This manga is intended for mature male readers. This is a very silent manga. There is no action but this manga is good for some change. It is monthly and I like it for its softness.

One day a boy, Tsubaki accidentally tastes drool of the new transfer student Urabe Mikoto. Mikoto is an antisocial girl who likes to sleep during class breaks. After tasting her drool Tsubaki gets hooked on that. They start dating each other, and get to know each other better. Read about this mysterious relationship of Mysterious girlfriend in this manga …..

12. Sekirei

This manga is the ecchi-est manga I have ever read. Lots of girls and lot of perversion. Every character is different and it is fun to read how they panic in time of crisis and how do the retaliate. Artwork as well as girls are beautiful and on a special note the girls are full of beauty and booty :P.

Minato is a total loser. He's failed to make it into college twice, he's unpopular with women, and he's unemployed. But he's actually an Ashikabi, one of a mysterious set of "masters" in an awesome battle royale between hordes of cute girls called "Sekireis.". There are 108 sekirei spirits all over the world. Every sekirei has a human master called her Ashikabi. A Sekirei gets bound to a human when they kiss each other and this process of union is called winging of the Sekirei. There is no limit on how many Sekirei an Ashikabi can wing. But, it is necessary for all the Sekirei and their Ashikabi to enter in the Sekirei Game, in which the Sekirei will fight each other to death. The last-standing Sekirei will win and will take her master to ascension!

13. Wolf Guy-Wolfen Crest

I don’t like this manga very much because it is very slow. The scenes of this manga are very brutal and story is full of explicit material, and you must not read it if you are not 18+. So, why does it deserve reading? The way where story is going kind of seems interesting, and I expect it to take a turn in some chapters. If a Manga can provoke shot-term interests than I believe that it is worth reading.

Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded. And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man Akira she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.

Five Manga based Anime That You Should Watch

One year ago I was strong believer of the pseudo-fact that cartoons and animated media are for kids. There are many who believe in this pseudo-fact. Somehow, I started watching Detroit Metal City, anticipating that I will regret watching it. But, luckily it was just opposite. DMC became the first anime I watched and it was followed by death-note, Naruto, Bleach and many others. My point? Every animated movie or TV-series is not (only) for kids. There are many which explicitly target mature viewers.

This is the list of five Anime series based on corresponding Manga Series that everybody should give a try (trying to be a bit diplomatic here. should be read as must-watch).

1. Naruto & Naruto Shippuden

Twelve-years before the start of our story, a mighty demon called the nine-tail-fox attacked the Hidden-Leaf-Village. All the shinobis gathered to defend their home. And, Leader of the village, The Fourth-Hokage died during the battle, while sealing the Nine-Tail-Fox inside a new-born child. The name of this child was Uzumaki Naruto. Naruto has a dream of becoming the Hokage (lit. meaning Shadow of Fire), who is the leader of the village, regarded as the strongest shinobi. What awaits Naruto on his path to becoming the strongest in the village?

The story is based on the manga titled Naruto by Kishimoto Masashi. Manga has a time skip at chapter-238. The anime titled Naruto is based on chapter 1-238 and Naruto Shippuden is based on whatever comes next.

This is an ongoing-story (meaning, it is not yet complete). But I am sure you will enjoy reading the manga and watching the anime. Watch the Anime Naruto and then start reading Manga from chapter-235. Once you have finished the manga, start Naruto Shippuden.

2. Detroit Metal City

A simple boy Negishi, whose favorite music genre is Swedish-Pop, moves to Tokyo from his village. He aspires to join a band of his favorite genre after completing his college. But, what he was unaware of until now is that he has a split personality Krauser-II, who is lead singer of a Death-Metal band “Detroit Metal City”. DMC has great fan following and its genre is direct opposite of Swedish-Pop. Negishi tries to satisfy both personalities. How will he do that?

This is an ongoing-manga, while a 12-episode anime series is huge-fun to watch. I will advise you to watch the anime first and then read the manga, if you are interested.

3. Death Note

One Day an extraordinarily intelligent boy Yagami Light, finds a Death-Note. Anyone whose name is written in this book will die soon. Circumstances and time of death can be specified and the death follows accordingly. Yagami with his crude sense of justice, decides to use the notebook as a weapon against crime. Under alias of Kira, he starts punishing the criminals who have not been punished properly for their sins. Meanwhile, to deal with rapid rise in death of the criminals in custody, Japan hires an equally intelligent detective called “L”. The fight now begins between the two with equal prowess. Who will win? Who will die? What kind of death awaits them?

This is a completed series. You can watch anime or read manga. Do whatever you like, it doesn’t matter. The soundtracks in anime give an extra edge to the mind game, and i think you will like it.

4. Bleach

Most of the popularity of bleach is due to its action scenes. The storyline is excellent up to first 60 anime-episodes and then the plot kind of falls apart. But still the music and action scenes of Bleach are worth watching.

Korean Romantic Movies You Should Watch Part I

I started watching Korean Movies/Drama more than two years ago. My first K-Movie was Innocent Steps. It was the best romantic movie that I had ever watched and I loved the lead actress’ role. This motivated me to watch some more movies featuring the same actress. I watched them and before I knew I became fan of K-movies. Now, I have watched over 100 K-Movies, some good and some not-so-good.

It is not possible for me to include (and probably for you to follow) in this post, all the good movies I have watched. Hence, this is the First Part of Must-Watch Korean Romantic Movies. The second part will follow shortly.

So here goes the list of first 16 K-Romantic-Movies that I enjoyed watching.

1. A Moment to Remember

2. My Sassy Girl

Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely.

As the film opens we are introduced to Gyeon-woo, a kind-hearted but at times naive college student who seems to keep getting into trouble. On his way home one night he rescues a beautiful but completely smashed young woman. She subsequently causes a scene in the subway, calls him "honey", and then passes out. With the eyes of the other subway passengers upon him, who all believe that she is his girlfriend, he has little choice but to take responsibility for her. Thus begins his relationship with the at-times charming, at-times violent damsel who steals his heart.

Much of the film is structured around the bizarre antics of Gyeon-woo's newfound girlfriend. After she passes out yet again, Gyeon woo looks at her blissful face and promises to himself that he will save her, and right whatever it is that troubles her. This proves to be much more of a challenge than he expects.

3. The Classic

Touched by the letter, Sang-min is attracted to Soo-kyoung, and Ji-hae, feeling uncomfortable and even guilty, tries to avoid him. And yet by coincidence or by fate she keeps running into him.

Ji-hae has lived alone with her mom since her childhood, when her dad unexpectedly passed away. Her mom is now on a trip abroad, and to wile away her solitude she starts cleaning the attic. There Ji-hae finds a secret box, in which her mom kept the memorabilia of her first love story of some decades past.

One day, when Myung-woo tries to help Kyung-jin during her risky pursuit of a criminal, an accident happens which causes Myung-woo not to be with Kyung-jin anymore. After the accident, Kyung-jin feels empty and lonely so she throws herself into perilous situations. However, whenever she falls in danger she feels that a strange but familiar sense in the wind is helping her out.

I’ve been busy, busy as a bee being myself buzz, buzz but I'm not a bee, I’m a Bull so gore, gore.

Everyone is surprised that I did not make an appearance on Budget day to tell the world what I thought about the Hon-Her-Able Pranab Mukherjee’s Budget.

The reason is very simple, I was approached an endless amount of times by TV channels to do interviews about the budget but I ‘politely declined’ citing ‘date problems’ and ‘a busy schedule’.

Still despite being so damn busy, I managed to catch up on the latest issue of India Today Magazine.

We here at India Today pride ourselves on recognizing India’s best. Whether it be our best B-Schools, Best Colleges, Best Cities or even Best Sportspeople.

We thought why not apply this idea to India’s Best Assholes also!

So we conducted a survey in association with AC Nielsen Media Research and The Indian Council For Social Welfare to determine India’s Best And Most Well Respected Most Popular Assholes.

The survey was held from 5^thJanuary to 21^st February this year across 37 metros ,12546 cities and 456,876 villages.

Undoubtedly, such an extensive survey to determine India’s best assholes has never been undertaken. This is indeed the most comprehensive survey to unearth the well hidden and quintessential profoundly Indian asshole (no pun intended), yet another pioneering effort from India Today!

The methodology is based on a ranking system, each asshole is determined on the A-SCORE™© or Asshole Score .The whole asshole score is a compilation of individual hole scores consisting of the survey results, an independent governmental committee recommendation report from the Ministry Of Human Resources and an evaluation by a jury of peers and other well respected assholes.

Please note, we didn’t include assholes from other countries who have an influence on India. For this reason assholes like Hafiz Saaed, Dawood Ibrahim and others were not considered.

This is the nation’s tribute to the best ASSHOLES chosen from a diverse array of fields Politics, Sport, Entertainment ,Music, The Arts ,Television and many many more.

As number of posts on your blog increases it is better to have a separate page which displays your blog archive, than to display blog-archive in blogger sidebar. Here, we will learn how to make such a page without any third-party service. To do this you should know simple programming provided by blogger. Even if you don’t know the programming, you can do it, just follow the steps. Take a look at my archives page.

This hack requires changes to template. So, it is advised to create a backup of your template before you make any changes. It will be good if you download your template and open it in a text-editor which provides syntax-highlighting (like notepad++). This will help you find the lines we will edit easily.

So, sign-in to blogger dashboard, click on layout and then on “edit html” in the “layout” section. Create a backup of your template, copy-paste complete template code, into a text-editor of your choice and save as .xml file.

We want the archives to be displayed in the area where posts are displayed. To do this we will add the archives-widget(provided by blogger) just below the posts and then will selectively hide the post content on archive page. To add archives widget create a section to which you will add the widget. To create a section search for “Blog1” in the template code. Copy the complete code for the template from your text-editor and paste it into blogger “Edit HTML” page and save the template. Now go to the “Page Elements” section of Blogger Layout page. You should have new section below the Blog Posts section. Click on “Add a Gadget”, and add archive gadget to the newly created section. After this test if you can see archive widget below the post in your blog.

Once this is done, jump to “Edit HTML” page, click on “Expand Widget Templates”, copy the template code and paste it over the existing code in text-editor.

We are almost done. Search for “blog-archive-section” in the text editor. There should be a widget code within the section we added. Within the widget code search for

It should be somewhere around 60 lines below the <b:section id=’blog-archive-section’> we added. (Mine was 62 lines below).

Now create a new static page in blogger and title it Blog Archive and publish it. The content of post doesn’t matter.

Once this is done, add following line just below the <b:includable id=’main’> we searched for:

Add following line just before the </b:includable> line:

Now the archives widget will be displayed only on the Archives static page. At this page we have to hide the post-content belonging to archives page. To do this we will add another b:if tag in the posts widget.

Search for “blog-posts hfeed”. Add following two lines just below this line:

How to add Contact-Me page with custom Thank-you page to blogger

Adding a “Contact Us” page to blogger is really easy. Take a look at my Contact Page. Adding this will require you to signup for another service. We will use EmailMeForm for this hack. Also, it will be better if you have some HTML knowledge. First we will grab the html code for the form then we will add it to our blog.

Step 1: Create a Thank-you Page

Before starting to make the custom form, it will be better to have a Thank-you page ready. In case you don’t know what thank-you page is; it is a page where the user lands after submitting the form.

To make the landing-page, login to your blogger-dashboard. Create a new “Static-page”. Write the message you want to show on the Thank-you page and publish the post. Take a look at my Landing-Page.

Step 2: Get the HTML

Now that we have a landing page, lets make the form. There are several services available to add a contact form to your BlogSpot blog. My favorite is EmailMeForm. First signup at this website (It is free). Once you are done click on “Create a new Form” and follow the instructions. At this stage, you will have to choose form details like, number of fields, label and type for each field. You have liberty to choose if the field is “required”. Do not forget to enter the url to the Thank-you page we created in Step-1 in the given field in “Create a new form” page.

When you are finished making the form, click on “get the html code” to get the html code.

Step-3: Create the Contact Us page

To do this, create a new static page on blogger. Change your editor into “Edit HTML” mode. and copy and paste the HTML code from step-2. Publish the post and test it. You are done!!!

Additionally, you can add your own style to the form using CSS.

Display Unicode Characters in aTunes

If your music library is not limited to only songs whose tags are in English (standard char set will be more specific), you are facing trouble in displaying Unicode characters in aTunes. First of all to display the characters you need fonts installed on your System. If you are using Windows Vista/7, you have got them installed already. For earlier Windows versions you need to install them separately. The fonts can be installed by going to

Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages-tab > tick install files for east-Asian-languages.

You can also choose to install files for right-left languages if you wish so. (Note: Installation will require you to have Windows XP Professional CD)

Now that you have installed the fonts or they were already there, follow these steps in aTunes:

Edit > Preferences > General-tab > tick “Use Default Font”

You are done! Now aTunes will use OS default fonts to render the characters.

This setting will only change fonts for the in-window-text. The title-bar of the open window will still not display proper characters. I am still looking for some easy fix.

Note that if you have been using for a long time then it will take time to get adjusted with the new look (There is so much text and information everywhere in the window!!). Just change the skin, and the font-change will not be so apparent.

Tips and Resources for learning “Japanese” Japanese

By “Japanese” Japanese, I mean that one should be able to read, write, listen, and talk in Japanese. By reading further you can save your precious time in searching for right tools for learning the language. The tools and tips mentioned here are not meant for persons who want to learn the language in a very short time (like those who are learning it for a short tour to Japan). Depending on how hard you work, you can understand almost 90% of Japanese.

Because of enormous dissimilarity between grammars, learning Japanese is very difficult in the beginning for students whose primary language is English. If you have knowledge of any East Asian language (in my case it is Hindi), then it will be really easier to grasp the fundamentals, as the grammatical structure is more or less same. But don’t worry, as soon as you cross the basic level you will get a knack of it and the journey will be easier thereafter.

Learning the language can be divided into two parts: learning to read and write, and learning the grammar.

Learning to read and write Japanese:

To learn real Japanese you should be able to read it. Otherwise you will not be able to practice it. Best approach will be to learn the writing system before you begin learning Grammar. Here, we face a problem because Japanese is written in three different scripts: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. The first two Hiragana and Katakana consist of 70 or so characters each and can be learned easily. Kanji is difficult to learn as there are around 2000 characters that you should know to read 99% of Japanese.

Hiragana and Katakana

Before starting to learn anything else you should learn these two scripts, as learning Kanji depends a lot on your knowledge of Hiragana and Katakana. Hiragana and Katakana have 72 basic characters (one for each sound). This is not a big deal (You learned 52 new characters when you were only five year old). These characters can be combined together to make new sounds, but such combinations are very few.

Learn Japanese Free and Free Japanese Lessons are a good websites to learn Hiragana and Katakana. They have complete charts for the scripts.

Kanji

Now that you have learned the two basic scripts, it is time to start learning Kanji. There are many ways of learning Kanji. You can either learn complete Kanji before starting to learn Japanese Grammar or you can start learning grammar now and learn any new Kanji you encounter. I have tried the latter way, and lost my interest in the midway. Learning Kanji and grammar simultaneously slowed me down a lot and I was not able to focus on the grammar. Now, I have decided to complete the Kanji first and then start the grammar. Different people have different opinions on which strategy to use.

There are 1945 Kanji characters you should learn to read and write Japanese newspaper, magazine, comics etc. To read literary work (like novels and literature books) you need to know more. For the time being only bother to learn the 1945 characters. Each Kanji character represents an idea (like there is character for moon, one for sun, another for human etc.). These ideas can be combined to represent new idea (eg. when you combine the character for past and the character for day, the combined word means yesterday). It is really fun to learn Kanji. The Kanji SITE presents the idea of Kanji in very interesting manner. Please read it before starting to learn Kanji.

Yamasa Online Kanji Dictionary is a great resource to search the pronunciation and meaning of kanji characters. It has got plenty of options for searching: you can search for a Kanji when you know its English meaning, or vice versa and many more.

Heisig’s Remembering the Kanji is a three volume book, which covers everything you will need to learn all of the Kanji. The first volume deals with the meaning of Kanji and covers 2000 Kanji characters including the necessary 1945 characters. The second volume deals with pronunciation of Kanji characters. Read Volume 1 before starting volume 2.

Writing Japanese

The best way to learn to write the three scripts is by using paper and pencil. This method must be followed for better retention of knowledge as there is a lot much to learn in Kanji. Occasional, practice of typing Japanese on PC will also help.

To write Japanese on your Windows-PC you should enable the “East Asian Language Support” in Language and Regional Options in Control Panel(Note that this setting requires you to have WinXP CD). After enabling this option you can turn on the Language Toolbar. One of the most useful feature of Language Toolbar is Windows IME Pad which is hand-writing recognition tool. On IME Pad, you can draw your own Kanji and it shows the closest match for the character you draw. This is really helpful when you want to search for a Kanji in an image or a poster.

Now comes the Grammar

The best online resource I discovered for learning Japanese Grammar is Tae Kim’s Guide to Japanese Grammar. It will teach you Japanese in a logical way so that the new knowledge can be related to what you have already learnt. It has short exercises after each lesson, which will make sure that you do not forget anything. Tae Kim’s Guide extensively uses Kanji (the way Japanese should be learned). Every lesson is full of at least 15 new characters. So, if you have preferred to learn Kanji and grammar simultaneously, then be prepared to invest time and have patience while you read. Learning Kanji takes about three times more time than learning grammar in Tae Kim’s Guide.

Some Important Notes

There is a lot of material to learn in Japanese. If you try to rush through it, you will fail in retention.
Do a lot of practice on Kanji. Use paper and pencil.
Pick up some Japanese material to read online. Japanese raw Manga are free for online viewing.
Watch Japanese movies or anime, to get used to the tone of Japanese.

Here is the list of some apps that will save you plenty of time on your PC and are Free for personal use. The apps have been tested on Windows XP and should work in Vista and 7.

Link Shell Extension

This utility will allow you to create hard links to files on NTFS Volumes by adding shell extension to windows explorer. By creating hard links you can keep a file in two different folders. The link will behave as if it is an original file. You can create such links for folders, thus creating Windows 7 Library Effect. LSE works on windows XP, Vista and 7. [DOWNLOAD LINK]

Everything Search Engine

Windows’ built in search tool sucks (at least in XP). Desktop Search is fast but takes lot of resources in indexing. But, Everything Search Engine will scan your NTFS partitions without causing any noticeable load on system and will give you results at unimaginable speed. This works on XP, Vista and 7. Sync Toy

This is a backup utility. SyncToy synchronizes two directories on your system. You can select the direction of synchronization (so that changes made on one side does not effect on another side) or you can have both folders to be mirrors. SyncToy works on XP, Vista and 7. [DOWNLOAD LINK]

QTTabBar

QTTabBar adds tabs to windows explorer, like nautilus does. But, it gives you a lot more control over the tabs than nautilus. You can select actions on mouse events and windows behavior. This works on Windows XP and Vista, and has been tested on 32bit systems. [DOWNLOAD LINK]

Desktop Media

Linux has a beautiful feature: it puts link to all the mounted media (removable drives, CD and DVD) on the desktop. If you want the feature in Windows then install Desktop Media and you have it. Works on all versions of Windows. [DOWNLOAD LINK]

Compare PSD

If you work a lot with Photoshop, then you should create multiple backup copies (one at each stage of revision) of the file you are working on, so that if something goes wrong or you don’t like the final effect you can go back to some revision. But, it is very difficult to compare all the files by opening them individually. Compare PSD will compare two PSD files layer by layer for text, filters, transforms etc and will tell you where they differ. ComparePSD works on Windows XP and later versions. [DOWNLOAD LINK]

FileHippo Update Checker

This will scan your System for installed apps and will check with FileHippo for the latest version available. It notifies you whenever a higher version of the software is available. Works on Windows XP and Vista.[DOWNLOAD LINK]

Application-Review: ATunes [audio player and jukebox]

Have a huge music library and want a free music player and manager which can run on any operating system? Then you should give a try to aTunes. aTunes can organize your music files, let you edit tags and you can rip your cds on it. The latest version is 1.13.6 released on 12-December-2009. You can download it here.
I recently changed my OS to Windows 7. I have a ever-increasing library of 3000+ songs. iTunes doesn’t suit me. So, I had hard time finding a good jukebox to play and manage my audio files. I tried many options starting from iTunes to many not-so-popular audio players. After several weeks of success and failures, joys and disappointments, I am finally using aTunes.
There are many applications which can play audio files on windows. To narrow-down my options I restricted my search to applications providing following features:

Must Features

The application should provide following features in-built. No plugin installation should be required.

Play mp3 and FLAC files.
Automatically read new files in the library location and should be able to clean “dead” files.
Read and Edit tags of mp3 and FLAC Audio Files
Manage and Create Playlists.Allow users to rate songs.
Create Smart and Random Playlists
Search the complete library

Optional Features

It is OK if the application does not provide following features, but it would be nice if these are available or can be enabled through plugins.

Inline Display of Lyrics. Application should be able to download the lyrics if not present in tags.
Automatically write lyrics to tag.
Download tag information from web. Album Art, Year, etc
Show Artist Information. Introduction, Discography, Similar Artist etc.
Rip CD.

What is aTunes?

aTunes is a audio-player and management application developed in Java Programming Language. aTunes can work on Windows, Linux and Mac or any other Unix-like-system. aTunes allows you to organize the music and edit both mp3 and vorbis tags. aTunes can manage 1000s of audio files. [GOOD]
aTunes supports many audio codec, both open-source and proprietary. It currently supports playback of mp3, ogg, flac, wma, wav, mp4, ape, mpc, cue, m4a, rm and ra. It uses mplayer as playback engine for all environments and xine for Linux systems.

Interface

There are very few players which provide an interface which is clean, simple and beautiful. aTunes is one of those players. aTunes Interface can be divided into three columns. The left one is the explorer, which displays your library in tree view. You can browse to specific song by artist and Album. The explorer is divided into five tabs: Repository, Favorites, Podcasts, Devices, and Radio.
The middle panel displays playlists. These playlists are distributed in different tabs (one tab for each playlist).
The right panel displays Now Playing song Information. aTunes displays lyrics below the song information. If lyrics is not present in tags then it downloads the lyrics from web. The downloaded lyrics are accurate. GOOD
Along with the Now Playing info, the right panel also shows artist info, related artists, YouTube video links for the artist and the discography for the artist. GOOD

The columns can be hidden for simplicity if required. If you want, aTunes can be minimized to tray. Overall Interface is clean and user-friendly. But if you have not used Amarok like players it will take time to learn the interface and use it effectively. GOOD

One annoying thing about aTunes is that it does not respond to right-mouse-clicks in text boxes. To paste text from clipboard to search box, I have a habit of right clicking the box and paste it. But, it simply doesn’t work in aTunes. However you can use CTRL+V. BAD

Playlists & Music Organization

aTunes music organization is similar to Amarok. It divides the library into playlists. Creating playlists and adding songs to it is easy. You can save and load playlists from hard-drive. Playlists are stored in m3u files. When you restart aTunes it resumes all the previously open playlists, so you do not have to save every playlist you create. You can shuffle a playlist, clear it, add songs or remove songs from it. You can select multiple songs in a playlist by SHIFT or CTRL keys and edit them in a batch. GOOD

Random as well as Smart Playlists can be created in aTunes from the Playlist-Menu. However, Random-playlists were not so random for me. GOOD?
Below the playlist panel aTunes provides buttons for some options that come in handy , for example, You can create a new playlist from the album of selected song; add selected song, artist or album to your favorites. These buttons work on the selected song in the playlist. It also provides an option to scroll to the Now Playing song. But, this button does not take you to the song if the currently playing playlist is not active. GOOD

Repository, Radio, Podcasts and Favorites

aTunes maintains your library in a Repository. You can browse your repository in the repository-explorer in the left panel. Repository is displayed in a tree view with hierarchy of Artist Name > Album > Song. To play a song you have to add the song to a playlist. It does not offer the All Music feature as it is in Windows Media Player and many other players. If you want to play all your music then you will have to add all the files to a playlist. BAD.
But wait! You can add all files to a playlist very easily by:
“Create New Playlist > Click on one of the artists in your repository > Hit Ctrl+A or Cmd+A (Depending on your OS) > Right Click on the Selected Songs > Click Add to Playlist”
Below the repository explorer you can see the list of all songs under selected artist or album. You can add files to playlist by dragging them on the playlist panel or by right-clicking the song and clicking Add to Playlist. The song is added to currently selected playlist. You cannot add song to a playlist by dragging the song to playlist name (tabs on the top). BAD
You can edit tags of files added to a playlist by selecting the song and hitting INSERT key. You can paste lyrics of the song in the tag editor. You can view info of the selected file by hitting F1 key. GOOD

aTunes comes preconfigured with some internet radios. Available radios can be viewed in radio tab in the left panel. Radios are distributed into different labels like rock, pop etc. You can edit the name of the radio and the label to which it belongs. One radio cannot belong to more than one label(Not so good, not bad either). The radios play seamlessly without any problem. You can add new radios and delete the existing ones. GOOD
You can add podcast subscriptions in aTunes and it works perfectly. Double clicking a radio or podcast does not play it, instead it adds it to currently active playlist (BAD). Again to play any radio or podcast you have to first add it to a playlist and then play it. GOOD
You can rate a song on five-star scale. Other than rating a song, you can set that song as your favorite, and that song will be displayed in the favorites tab of the explorer. You can also set Album Artist or Album as your favorite. This helps in searching for music in a large library. You can remove the favorite tag by right clicking the song in the favorite tab and clicking Remove from Favorites. GOOD

Playback Control

Apart from standard playback controls (play-pause-stop), you can set playlist to repeat, shuffle or combination. Volume can be controlled by middle-mouse button over the volume control. Scrolling changes volume by 1 and clicking middle-button changes volume by 10. GOOD
aTunes does not have option for repeat single. Seeking didn’t work seamlessly with me. BAD
You have option to normalize audio output. aTunes features inbuilt equalizer if you want one. Equalizer can be accessed from Edit Menu. GOOD
Karaoke didn’t work for me either. BAD
aTunes does not offer option for cross fading or smooth seeking. This is one of the missing features which is very much required in aTunes.

Automatic Tag Editing

Automatic tag editing is limited to generation of tags from filename and vice-versa. This feature is good for ripped audio files. However, you can search for covers using aTunes Cover Navigator. aTunes can fetch lyrics for the now-playing-song. But, it does not save it to the file automatically. You will have to copy the fetched lyrics and manually add it to the file using aTunes tag editor.

Preferences

Again the user-interface of aTunes rocks when it comes to preferences windows. Generally, there are dozens of information you can change when it comes to an audio player. It is tiresome as well as troublesome to edit the preferences when interface is cluttered where every tab is fighting to mix with the other and font-size is just readable. aTunes preference window is well organized and you will have happy-time handling it.

Themes

You can change player’s theme from an option of more than 10 available themes. GOOD

Global Hotkeys

aTunes supports Global-Hotkeys for basic playback control. You can change these hotkeys in preferences windows. aTunes also allows you to add your own hotkeys. I never use hotkeys so this is not a very big feature for me but it may be helpful if you are hotkey-addict.

Last.FM

You can enable last.fm on aTunes. This option is available in Preferences.

Music Management

You can let aTunes manage your music files in a specific folder. You can use patterns like %T for song-title to tell aTunes the destination of the file. GOOD

Repair Tags

aTunes can repair tags of the songs in your repository. Repair feature is available for track-numbers (set according to file name), genres (set according to last.fm artist genre) and Album (set according to folder in which the file resides). Only the files in which corresponding fields are empty are processed. You will be asked to confirm before applying the changes. GOOD

Search Options

aTunes provides extended search option, through which you can search with multiple tag inputs, for example this artist and that phrase in title etc. Extended search works on Repository or Favorites. Extended Search can be Accessed by hitting CTRD+D.
To search for song in current playlist you can use the filter option or by hitting CTRL+F. Filter Option is available on the bottom of the middle panel below playlists. GOOD

Statistics

This is one of the features that only aTunes has. aTunes shows statistics with visual aids, based on your music library, for example, mostly played songs, mostly played artist etc. aTunes displays pie-charts and bar-graphs wherever applicable.
