So after some emotional blackmail and some thinking, I guess a final post about Shahid Kapoor would be a good way to finish off the blog, especially since most of the commenters bonded over Shahid anyways, so I guess I owe you and him.

Shahid turned 28 today, still a good age for the industry dominated by 40-year-olds, so way to go Shahid! Happy Birthday from all of us at SoggyCornflakes. We hope you have a great day and a brilliant year. And we want at least 3 movies from you this year, especially since you were so quiet in 2008.

A few bits of Shahid news, like how Shahid is spending his birthday. We all know Shahid is the quiet type, so it makes sense that he’s just having a small party with close friends and family only. While Shahid wasn’t actually at home because he was shooting in Jodhpur, you have to love technology…he organised the entire party from Jodhpur and his house’s remodeling should have been completed before the party too, so I guess everything will be going smoothly today.

Shahid himself is planning to have a good year and says,

“I’m all set to make up for my long absence. Being voted as a youth icon is both an honour and very encouraging too. The year has begun on a good note and I don’t want to look back at all,”

Obviously the link-ups will never end with Shahid, even if he claims he’s single, Bollywood won’t be content unless they can fill the back pages with news about his love life but Shahid sets the record straight, again:

“Life throws googlies at you. You catch some, you miss some! But, I haven’t lost faith in love. I am like any normal guy. I would love to fall in love again. But, as of now, I am single, I would rather have people talk about my work.”

And there’s a lot of work this year, so Shahid fans should be content, although we still have to wait a few months for his movies to come out, with Kaminay and Paathshala both set for June releases. Another movie that we might see, unexpectedly, is Milenge Milenge, a movie shot a few years ago by Shahid and Kareena Kapoor which never saw the light of day because both of them refused to dub it. But the latest on that is that Shahid has already dubbed and Kareena is about to dub, so the movie might actually come out sometime this year.

And speaking of Kareena, Shahid made an interesting comparison when asked if he would act with Kareena again and said,

“Yes, I would like to work with her again…. I feel that as an actor if my producer wants me to romance with a cow or a buffalo also, I’ll do it. …Because that’s my job.”

I doubt Shahid wanted to make it sound like he was comparing Kareena to a cow, but let’s just say he was, because it’s more fun that way :-D.

And I guess that’s it. Do I have to say goodbye again? I think I’ve said all I need to, but I can’t thank you guys enough for reading and commenting with such loyalty. Let’s stay in touch, ok? Love you all! Love you too Shahid.

Hi Everyone,

I know I’ve been missing for quite a while and I definitely owe you an explanation. I’m just not exactly sure how to put it…well, you know my parents were coming back from their holiday a few weeks ago and luckily, they arrived a day earlier than planned. The next day…my brother passed away suddenly.

He’s just a year younger than me but he was more like my twin than my younger brother so you can guess how devastated me and my family are. It’s been 3 weeks now and while I’m still coming to terms with losing my best friend, my priorities have changed drastically and I don’t want to make you guys wait for me for no reason.

Thank you Locustwillow for trying to keep SoggyCornflakes active and thanks to you guys for staying (and thanks for the birthday wishes…I read most of the comments today) but honestly, I don’t think I can keep SC running anymore. I can’t exactly explain my reasons so you’ll just have to trust my judgement when I say that I think it’s best for me to shut down the site, because my state of mind isn’t really right for writing and I don’t know if it’ll ever be.

I’ve made some good friends on this blog and most of the activity in the last 6 months has kept me very entertained, with all the regular comments. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you guys and maybe we can stay in touch through other ways…the site should be up for another month or so but after that it’ll go down automatically (I might log in now and then during that time). I’m really sorry for doing this to you guys, but like I said, you have to trust my judgement. I’ve really had a lot of fun doing this and I’m going to miss you guys and all the random topics ranging from feminism to Twilight to Shahid Kapoor. It’s been really great…but someone said “all good things have to end”…or something like that. Whatever it was, I don’t like the saying but it applies here.

Finally, I don’t want to preach but if you guys could learn one thing from me, learn to appreciate your family and friends always. It’s a cliche but believe me, all the appreciation in the world doesn’t seem like it’s enough.

Take care of yourselves and your families

Love always,

Hey guys. Sorry, just some quick posts today, I’m just feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, my parents are getting back from their holiday on Thursday and I have to make sure that this house is perfect before they get back. So I’ll try and update as much as I can every day, but don’t mind if I haven’t replied to comments in a few days or I post videos instead of actual stories, I’ll be back to my normal self by Friday.

So, Celina Jaitley is thinking that she finally wants to have a career in Bollywood…and for some reason, she thinks the best way to do that is to play a hooker like Rani Mukherjee in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Saawariya. While the occasional ‘tortured woman’ role is appreciated in Bollywood, can Celina really pull it off?

In her new movie titled Showman, she’s going to play a hard-hitting role of a stripper,

“I play a half-English and half-Indian girl, who comes from very poor family in London. She grows up to be a stripper in a nightclub and a con-artist.”

Stripper? I don’t know, she’s more likely to pull of being a pornstar. Why do they never make movies about that in Bollywood?

in case you don’t watch Scrubs, Zach Braff is the star of the show and has also provided the voice of Chicken Little in Chicken Little.

Shahid Kapoor doesn’t need an introduction, you know who he is and what he’s acted in…

I guess the biggest similarity between them is the lips and maybe the nose, so there’s your lookalikes for this week.

I guess relations between India and Pakistan are going to have get worse before they get better. It isn’t only Pakistanis in India who are paying for 26/11, but also the Indians who have worked with them.

One of these stars is Amrita Rao, who worked with Pakistani band ‘Jal’ and was linked romantically with two of their members. The story is that Amrita signed a contract with ice cream company Wall’s alongside ‘Jal’ singer Farhan Saeed but after the Mumbai attacks, I guess Wall’s India is preferring to keep things proudly Indian instead of promoting cross-border relations so they’ve removed the entire campaign that involved Farhan…along with Amrita.

Amrita has been replaced by Shruti Hassan, a newcomer to the industry.

Here’s one of her ads with Goher and Farhan if you want a look,

Happy Monday everyone! I’m in a very good mood today (I got this scholarship that I had applied for, yay!) so even if I’m insulting celebrities, it’s just in good fun and not because I’m grumpy.

So, get this, Diya Mirza is seriously confused about who Anne Frank is or she thinks that her modeling/acting career is as torturous as hiding from Nazis during the holocaust. Diya says that she does “only” 4 or 5 movies a year because she doesn’t want to take on too much.

What does she do in her free time? Well, she rides horses and writes poetry. She was shocked to find that there was a good stable right in the middle of Mumbai but when she doesn’t feel like getting bumped around on a horse, she enjoys painting and photography…and that’s where she compares herself to Anne Frank . Now for those of you who don’t know, Anne was this sweet brave little kid who had to go into hiding during the holocaust with her family. She wrote a diary while she was hidden away, talking about her family and other people who they were living with. Unfortunately, Anne was captured and died in a concentration camp a few weeks before the war ended…her father who survived then found her diaries and published them…so this is who Diya is comparing herself to.

“I’ve written around 50 poems and my friends compliment me on it. In fact my mother is after me to have them published.

Maybe someday I will be like Anne Franks Diary. I paint; I write poetry and love photography. I am a constant seeker and I keep learning different things to fill the void in my life.”

So guys, if you paint and write poetry, you are definitely in the same league as Anne. *roll eyes*

Yay! It’s Friday, it’s raining, things look cheery…and I mean that sincerely, I love rain and dark clouds. Lots of Shahid news today, so let’s get started.

The first few bits of news involve Shahid Kapoor and his new choreographer Marty Kudelka. Marty and Shahid have been getting to know each other on sets and recently, Marty was admiring the VIP line of luggage that Shahid has started endorsing after watching a few of his ads and said that he wouldn’t mind owning some himself (hehe, didn’t we say that too when we saw the ads?). Anyways, Marty never got to go shopping because of time constraints so Shahid gave him the entire line of luggage as a farewell gift…sweet huh?

Not only did he give Marty a present, Shahid threw an entire farewell party for him. Ken Ghosh was also in attendance and Jiah Khan as well (is she in the movie? Come to think of it, no female lead was ever mentioned for the movie…I hope it isn’t Jiah, she’s just so…average). Ken says he’s really happy with how the movie is turning out and apparently Mart had tears in his eyes when he left. I would cry too if I had to leave Shahid ;-).

Speaking of endorsements, Shahid has signed on for another company to promote their products. Pioneer, which deals with sound equipment and other gadgets has signed Shahid on to promote it’s range of music equipment.

A source reports,

“Apparently, he was selected as he is synonymous with music and fun and youth. This line caters to the youth that spends most of their time listening to music. The actor has signed the deal for a whopping price! Even in times of recession, Shahid got his full market price.”

Now, some news about Shahid’s other movies. Firstly, Kismat Konnection. It’s screenplay has been added to the Oscar Library in recognition of the hit it was. In case you didn’t know, the Library of Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences is a resource center for film students, directors and writers, and whoever else wants to find out more about the movie.

Now some bad news. According to several sources, Hadipa (the maybe-name of Rani Mukherjee and Shahid’s new film) sucks. Aditya Chopra has been watching the sections of the film that have been shot already and isn’t happy with it at all, neither is Yash Chopra. Some say that he’s demanding Anuraag Singh reshoots about 60% of the film. According to them, the movie isn’t living up to Yash Raj standards and they aren’t willing to risk another flop. However, the official word from Yash Raj Films is that there is no reshooting taking place and the movie is one schedule.

Last story for today. It’s been said before that once Shahid finishes up with his current projects, he’s going to devote all his attention and time to his father’s directorial debut. I guess Shahid considers himself to be a multi-tasker because he’s signed on for a film with director Shirish Kunder. You might know him better as Farah Khan’s husband…sadly enough, his last movie was Jaan-E-Mann, which sucked so much. I’m not going to dwell on this too much, because it’ll be a while before Shahid starts shooting for him.

You know what really sucks? If they hadn’t delayed Paathshala, it was due to come out today. Now I don’t know how long we have to wait for the next Shahid movie.

Have a good weekend everyone, I’m out.

Lots of people have been wondering if Raaz 2 will live up to the first one. I guess the first place to judge would be the trailer, so here you go…I still can’t get over how much Emraan Hashmi’s character is a rip-off from Heroes. Raaz 2: The Mystery Continues comes out 23rd January.

So here’s a lesson for anyone who wants to act in a Karan Johar film: You can’t speak to the media, ever, about anything related to the film or you will regret it.

So here’s a lesson for anyone who wants to act in a Karan Johar film: You can’t speak to the media, ever, about anything related to the film or you will regret it.

No, they won’t threaten you. Please, they’re not a bunch of goonda’s…at least, I hope they’re not. But they will fire you, which is what happened to poor Aamir Bashir, who was set to have a role in Karan’s My Name is Khan.

You might remember that in an older article, a story came out that some of the cast and crew of MNIK were rejected US visas because they were Muslim. Apparently, Aamir was one of them and because he went straight to the media after he was rejected, SRK and Karan are not amused that anything about the movie be revealed until they say so.

Aamir was supposed to play Shah Rukh’s brother in the movie but after his little leak, Karan has told Aamir not to bother reapplying for his visa, because he won’t be needing it. Reportedly, Jimmy Shergill has been signed on as his replacement.
