Hello ..

I've had to make a very tough decision regarding my blog since it is my very first blog which I started in March 2008. It's almost 3 yrs since I started blogging .. Time really flies .. I have made so many wonderful friends courtesy my blogging .. I have had wonderful time expressing my thoughts, views and rants on this blog .. It really taught me what do we mean by freedom of expression and speech !!

But why so much sentimental stuff suddenly ..

Well, the thing is - I'm moving onto my new blog .. I have bought my custom domain name and web hosting and this would be my last post on this blog ..

So, if you were a reader of this blog and would like to continue reading my posts , do tune into my new blog address:

Vodafone ki Kahani - Loyal Customer ki Jubaani

To explain what happened, I need to go back to my teen days in the year 2000 .. I just had appeared for my HSC(12th std exam) and when I went back home after my last exam, mom-dad gifted me a mobile .. Mobile was Nokia and the service was of CelSuvidha .. It was a prepaid card .. At that time, outgoing call used to cost RS while incoming calls RS 3 for that matter .. It was an expensive gadget to play with !!

Then I took admission in Engineering and I was the only one which cell phone in my entire class .. Sometimes I felt awkward too but I was enjoying it .. The service CelSuvidha which I was using has been now called as Hutch .. Using the same number, I talked to so many people who are now my close friends .. By using the same number, I first time talked to that special strange of my engineering class who later became my friend, then a good friend, then a very good friend .. And it then went on from close friends to best friends to girl-friend to fiancee and today my wife .. Those long nights of free-night calling of Hutch, those free 2000 SMS per month of Hutch etc are unforgettable memories .. I have had this unexpressed sentimental attachment with my number .. So being a mom a mom, she knew about my affection to this number, she even recharged and continued the same number when I went to US for higher studies .. Even though, no one was using it, mom made sure that number does not get deactivated .. Meanwhile all this happenings, Hutch had turned into VodaFone ..

When I returned from US for good and started my job in Mumbai, I still continued my Ahmedabad number .. So now I had two numbers - one from Ahmedabad and one from Mumbai .. Both from VodaFone as I really had no problem whatsoever till now ..

But then, before 7 months I came to US for a project assignment and got so busy in day-to-day life that I forgot to recharge my Ahmedabad number and it got deactivated .. Mom one day called and gave me the sad news.. I called VodaFone customer care and they said that as I ave not recharged my number, it got disconnected and it has been assigned to someone else .. So I cannot buy back that number .. I was saddened to hear that .. I tried calling that number but it still said "This number is temporarily deactivated" .. So I had little hope that it may still haven't been given to any customer

So I googled the names and emails of the Nodal Officer of VodaFone of Gujarat/Ahmedabad circle and I emailed him my pain and agony of losing this number and my emotional attachment to it .. Companies in India re very well known for their anti-customer approach but I had this mysterious kind of hope in some place of my heart that I may get lucky here !!

And the magic happened .. Mom got a call from VodaFone executive and she told her that they have received an email from me and they are trying their best to locate the number .. And mom being so passionate about whatever she does, she just followed up with the executive for 2-3 days and as she was getting proper response from the executive, she became hopeful too .. One of my close friends Shridhar who was working for Idea cellular few years ago too helped me as he had many contacts in mobile arena .. Hence after 3 days, that executive called mom and asked her to go to any VodaFone store and asked her to recharge the card so that they can activate it again on my name .. VodaFone Nodal officer also replied to my email confirming the same .. After recharging it, mom called me from the same number and I was so happy to see that number flashing on my cell ..

A small email requesting to activate my number after I lost it completely had done the trick .. And it is not possible if we don't have such customer-friendly, customer-caring people in VodaFone .. This is just unbelievable for me to even think of ..

I would like to express my gratitude and a big thanks from the bottom my heart to Ms. Maulika Chandramouli (Nodal Officer VodaFone) and Ms. Jigna Raghwani(Executive who called Mom) for their cooperation, help and support throughout .. Without you guys, my happiness would have not been possible .. You have brought a smile on someones face- may god bless you both !!

Life is Good !

Hello World !!

It's been ages since I penned down my thoughts, views or even rants ! Life is busy but Life is good too at the moment .. Touch wood!

Currently I am in USA for Project Assignment. My wifey is too working for the same client - different project so this was a very rare chance that we got to come onsite together at the same time - for same client and in same office .. Could not ask for more ! .. Meeting all my dear friends in the weekend and having fun is really icing on the cake ..

Being an avid cricket fan, I am on cloud nine .. Team India won the Worldcup and the dream of that little genius Mr. God - Sachin Tendulkar is at last after 22 long years .. Whenever I see those last moments of the final match from Dhoni hitting the six to Dhoni lifting the cup - those moments bring tears every time .. Kohli and Yusuf carrying Sachin on their shoulders and Sachin like a baby carrying our Tirangaa in his hands - those moments I will cherish life long .. Those moments will stay in my mind - in my heart for a long time - may be my whole life ..

My dad used to tell me the stories of how we won 1983 worldcup and how they celebrated .. Now I will also share my stories with my future kids that how we won in 2011 and how we celebrated .. Bravo team India !!

Meanwhile Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement really created a roar in Indian Common Man especially youth .. Again the youth came out on streets with candle-lights and Satyagrah/fasting .. Nice to see that but I hope we keep that spirit alive in ourselves and when the right time comes -that is - on a day of voting -we go out and choose the lesser devil .. There was a huge turnout in TamilNadu and Kerala assembly elections recently close to 75% .. These are really good signs for the future ..

Also a million dollar question is - Everybody in India opposes corruption. Still there is a rampant corruption in every Profession/Field ,not in Govt alone. So let's not make anti-corruption a fashion trend or just a herd mentality. If we really want to do something then we have to fight corruption in our daily lives. This really reminds me of my earlier post:Why are we targeting only Politicians ??

But all in all, life is good and enjoying every single moment of it.

The Unstoppable - NaMo

Last Sunday, I went to Ahmedabad from Mumbai to cast my vote in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation election. Along with Ahmedabad, five other cities too were observing civic polls including Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar .. The way dissatisfaction and disappointment have been shown by BJP workers for the ticket distribution, it seemed that this election will be an uphill task for BJP as BJP had captured all six municipal corporation five years ago .. So it was predicted that anti-establishment, anti-incumbency and demotivated BJP workers may make BJP's win very tough ..

But this guy named Narendra Modi has this uncanny knack of surprising people and crushing his opponents .. He went to public with one and only one agenda and that is the development and progressive work that he and his government are doing since last 10 years of his regime .. And he was not made disappointed again by people of Gujarat .. People of Gujarat has again shown faith in NaMo and BJP .. The results were out today and BJP has won all the six Municipal Corporations (Ahmedabad, Rajkot, vadodara, Surat, JamNagar and Bhavnagar) with thumping majority .. Urban voters of Gujarat has given clear mandate to BJP and NaMo .. Congress is stunned and crushed .. Congress has no escape route and it might have to do some rigorous soul-searching to save its very existence in Gujarat ..

Even the Planning Commission has praised the Gujarat government for the judicial way of spending the money allotted to that state .. He has created confidence in investors in various projects that Gujarat is a safe place for investment .. He has proved this definition 'Good Governance is Bad Politics' wrong again and again ..

Hello all .. I'm back to my blog after almost 4 months .. I really had faded in oblivion .. Work and hence life is keeping me very busy and I'm also facing a huge writer's block .. But I guess Krishna Bhagwan came to my help to subside my writer's block ..

I'm not gonna write a whole new post but on this holy and pious evening, I would like to share one of my old posts which I wrote two years ago on the same day and almost at the same time ..

Yeah, it's time to celebrate Janmashtmi (Gokulashtimi) .. It's 11:48 PM right now and at the stroke of midnight, our own Lord Krishna will take a birth this year once again .. Well, I am feeling so religious right now and I am so excited for the birth of Krishna Bhagwan .. Lord Krishna is one of the most prominent gods of Hinduism and he is worshipped all over world wherever there is a Hindu population .. For me, being a Vaishnav, Krishna Bhagwan plays a very important role in my daily life .. Every morning when I wake up or Every night before I hit the bed, it has become my common routine to say 'Jai Shree Krishna' (Long Live Lord Krishna) .. When I hang up the phone while talking to mom-dad or other relatives, last statement I say is 'Jai Shree Krishna' .. While welcoming guests at our home, we greet them saying 'Jai Shree Krishna' .. So my day starts, continues and ends with 'Jai Shree Krishna' ..

(It's 11:58 PM and now I think I will head towards my temple to wish him Happy Birthday .. My mom at Ahmedabad will be putting new clothes on baby Krishna idol and must be giving him swings in his jhula to celebrate his birth .. I will be back in 5 min)

I am back .. Watching Krishna Janam(Birth) live from his birthplace Mathura on Sanskar Channel !! .. Enjoying it !! ..

Well, Krishna Bhagwan's character has always fascinated me .. He is that kind of God with whom any human being can connect him/herself very closely .. I feel that all other gods are just too ideal and faultless .. You just worship them as gods but for Krishna, you feel worshiping him more as your friend, philosopher and guide rather than a God .. The stories of Krishna's childhood and youth tell of his mischievous pranks as Makhan Chor (butter thief), his foiling of attempts to take his life, Raslilas with Gopis, teen-age crush on Radha and his role as a protector of the people of Vrindavana. So you feel that you are connected to his character very much and all these pranks you must have undergone once in your life time for sure ..

During the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharata, upon arriving at the battlefield, and seeing that the enemies he would soon fight against were people close to him prior to the battle, Arjun becomes doubtful and skeptical about fighting. Krishna then advises him about the battle, about the dharm-adharm, about relation and duties, with the conversation soon extending into a discourse which was later compiled as the Bhagwad Gita .. Bhagwad Gita depicts a perfect and optimal way to have prosperous, affluent, peaceful, healthy, wealthy, effective and efficient life .. So it's 1st May again .. But this year 1st May has double importance .. Because in 2010, both Gujarat and Maharashtra are completing their 50 years of foundation .. A Swarnim (Golden) Jayanti (Jubilee) for both the progressive and highly successful states ..

It was the day when Gujarat and Maharashtra were separated from each other on the basis of language spoken in each region .. Majority of Gujarati people were granted a new state Gujarat while majority Marathi-speaking maharashtrians were given a new state Maharashtra .. But still many Gujarati stay in Maharashtra and many maharashtrians stay in Gujarat..These two communities have mixed together so well that it reminds of how sugar gets absorb in milk...

So I am feeling an immense pleasure in wishing Gujarat and Maharashtra a very happy birthday..

Narendra Modi - the CM of Gujarat - has planned several Swarnim Gujarat events to celebrate this auspicious day .. As usual, Congress has shown a red-face to these functions and they are celebrating Gujarat Day on its own .. Sudden Vacuum in Life !!

Hey Folks .. How is it going ???

Well, I wrote my last post exactly on the day when IPL started and now this post exactly on the day when IPL has ended that too in a very disappointing manner with all the allegations, scandals and other off-field incidents .. This IPL was special to me as I saw opening ceremony, closing ceremony and one other match(MI vs Deccan) at D Y Patil Stadium & one match (Royal vs KKR) at Motera, Ahmedabad ..

I may sound like a maniac but I'm not able to imagine a life without IPL .. I may take some time to come out of this sudden (not really !!) shock .. Since last one and half months, at this time I was just glued to my idiot box watching and enjoying IPL matches .. But now IPL is over and I feel like I have lost a dear and close companion of mine .. Yesterday since 8 PM, I am feeling like something is missing in my schedule .. This was the charisma of IPL .. It really made me(us !!!) addicted .. I hope that all other cricket fans are also passing through the same phase and also suffering from the same 'missing-IPL' syndrome .. But no matter what, I'm not gonna watch Indian Idol series yet again with all the melodrama and less talent ..

Before I again fade in oblivion, I would like to thank Mr. Lalit Modi for such an amazing tournament and such a grand execution of it .. It made Cricket and thus in return, India a global brand .. IPL may not be L.Modi's idea but he surely has executed and planned it with perfection .. It's really sad to see him go like this .. But I feel he's a fighter and he will fight the battle bravely .. At least he should take down other culprits with him .. I'm not sure whether IPL - 4 will take place or not so this year I enjoyed IPL as if there is no IPL next year ..

Fun Time : IPL-3 & IPL Fantasy Cricket

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee !! .. What more an ardent and avid cricket fan like me can ask for ?? .. IPL is going to commence from next week and that too in India .. Wow !! .. I'm so much excited !! .. Whether you call it "Indian Premier League" or "Indian Paisa League" or "Indian Pawar league" but it certainly has created hype and interest among the cricket lovers all over the world .. Huge money involved .. So much glamor involved but most importantly so much of thrill and excitement are involved ..

Its inauguration ceremony will be held in Navi Mumbai on Friday .. It seems that it will be grand and fabulous .. Shahrukh, Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif etc will be sitting in the stadium and will be watching the match .. Spectators will be in huge dilemma - what to watch for : So many international cricketers on the field, Towering sixes and awesome deliveries, Film stars in the stands or 'Hot and Beautiful' Cheer-leaders near the boundary ropes .. It will surely be a stunning celeb-packed night .. And the most exciting part is - I MIGHT GO TO WATCH THIS MATCH !!! ...

By the way, this time once again, there is no team from Ahmedabad in IPL .. So I will be cheering for Mumbai Indians because Mumbai is my work place .. It's the city which gives me my bread and butter...My Karm-Bhoomi .. Another obvious reason is the presence of almighty himself - Sachin and Jayasurya in the team ..

So now Everyday at 8 PM after coming to office, I will stick to my TV ignoring the bunch of activities and people !! .. It is awesome to watch so many different players of different nationalities get togather and play as a unit .. I hope I will have a gala time in future ..

SACH(in) is LIFE !!

When he goes out... to bat, people switch ...on their television sets and switch off their lives.

I won't be giving any prizes for guessing what and for who this post is dedicated to !! .. It is obvious from an ardent cricket fan like me ..

I was in office doing my work and watching the live score on cricinfo(even though it's not allowed !!) .. Slowly and steadily, Sachin reached 50 then 75 then 100 .. I was feeling good but I had no idea what I'm gonna discover few hours later .. Once Tendy reached 150, I had butterflies in my stomach and got this uncanny feeling that today might be the day when this legend is gonna fulfill the dream of millions of Indians(including me!!) to break the record of Saeed Anwar by scoring double-century ..

When he reached 180, I just could not stop myself and took off from office .. Unfortunately today I did not bring my car to office .. So went out and waited for the auto .. But my fate had other story to tell .. Could not get an auto rickshaw for a while .. Was praying and sweating heavily .. Curiosity and anxiety were all over my body .. And suddenly some angel auto arrived and headed towards home ..

I could see every Nukkad, every Pan-shop and every other shop with TV on was full of people cheering Sachin Sachin .. When I was about 1 Km away from my home, I heard from someone that Sachin is on 198 .. Now just can't miss the moment of his double-ton .. So I took out money, gave it to auto-driver without caring to take the change and ran towards the barber shop which has a tiny little TV on .. It was full of people who were just swearing Dhoni as he was not giving strike to Sachin .. I sat in the shop with a baited breadth and with biting my nails .. Continuous prayer was going on in the background of my mind .. And then the moment arrived .. He took a single by playing a wide ball to the gully area and the whole barber shop which was stand-still and silent a moment ago went on a rampage and fire .. Cheering, yelling, applauding, hugging and all other emotions you can think of .. I had little tears in my eyes when Sachin lifted his bat to acknowledge the crowd .. Just cant forget this moment for my whole life .. And then we won comfortably and convincingly .. This story had a better ending, I must say and must thank god for that .. I had everything : shivers, goosebumps, tears, smiles, laugh and most important feeling that one of my dreams have come true today !!

Congress ki Sarkar, Aam Aadmi pe Atyachar

Well, the grand old party of India Congress has done it again which it does the best since independence - Misgovern and Mismanagement ..

It first divided us on religion basis when our highly qualified and quite sober PM Mr. Manmohan Singh calmly and tactfully said that ke minority of India has the first right on everything which belongs here (Yeah, yeah : as if we majority has done some kind of crime in this country which we proudly called as Hindustan !!) ..

Then it divided us on lingual/region basis when Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan passed the bill which stated that taxi permits should be given to only those who can read, write and speak fluent marathi .. (Yeah, yeah : how different are you know from MNS and Shivsena !! .. Hypo crates ..)

And then it touched the lowest bottom when the prices of vegetables, oil, fruits etc went way way way high that an aam aadmi (common man) cant even cope up with .. Cant even survive .. We need them for 'Aman ki Asha' ..

I still feel that where have our self-respect, Indian pride, patriotism vanished? .. we have not achieved anything by talks with Pakistan in last 60 years so now why we need Aman ki Asha? .. Seriously we are blind-folded and programmed by few so-called intellectual people and we are making huge huge mistakes ..

But we are Indians and we never learn from our mistakes .. So I'm neither shocked nor surprised ..

(P.S. : Just saw the NEWS that LPG is going be dearer by 100, kerosene by 45, petrol by 4 and diesel by 2 RS ..)

my favorite festival Makar-Sakranti (14th Jan) when whole of Gujarat go onto their terraces, fly kites and shout 'Katta' - 'Lapettt' etc etc with some loud music and delicious Undhiyu-Puri ..

Work has kept me busy this time .. But I may go to Ahmedabd on 15th to enjoy the second day as people of Gujarat do not find one day enough to celebrate kite flyin .. On 15th also, the festival is celebrated with the same zeal and joy ..

Let us see how it turns out .. But right now I'm in office and I can visualize all my friends flying kites and enjoying the terrific atmosphere ..

Do I envy them ? .. Oh yes, I sure do !!

People of India often take out their disgust and anger on Indian politicians and frankly most of them deserve this anguish .. But in Gujarat, there is a different trend altogether .. Here people just love, adore,admire and respect their CM - Mr. Narendra Modi ..

Yesterday Mr. Narendra Modi travelled in Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) - Janmarg local transport bus to reach GMDC ground where a get-to-gather with media persons was organized. After buying a ticket, he boarded the bus and started his journey towards the destination ..

One lady who looked quite well-off and educated asked for Modi's autograph and also requested that he must write the date and time so that her family remembers can believe that she was with Modi in a bus ..

One gentleman asked Modi to talk to his wife on his mobile phone and Modi happily acknowledged his request ..

While returning Modi took the same bus .. This time he was not taht lucky as there was no vacant seat .. So he completed and enjoyed his journey by standing all the way through .. Of course people offered their seats to their heart-throb CM but he politely refused it .. Many school and college students asked for his autographs and he happily their wishes ..

I have not seen people taking autographs other than of film starts or of cricketers .. Truly remarkable and noteworthy ..

Incidentally, yesterday Modi completed 3000 days as Chief Minister of Gujarat. So the CM(Chief Minister) mingled with CM(Common man) ..

3000 days but still people love and respect him the same as they used to do when he sworn in as CM for the first time ..

3000 days but there is no single anti-incumbency factor against him or against his governance ..

And it's worthless to mention about Gujarat's progress under his dynamic and visionary leadership .. Statistics, awards and all the surveys tell the story themselves let alone people's love and respect for Narendra Modi ..

... faded in oblivion. Everyday commuting and work keeping me busy like hell.

But even in that busy schedule, I watched two movies recently.

First one was ROCKET SIGH .. It was kind of OK but presented a very good message of honesty and business ethics .. Ranbir really rocked .. next superstar I guess !!

Second one was like a unimaginable unprecedented cinematic experience of life time .. Yeah, you have guessed it right .. It was AVATAR 3D .. It just took my mind away with the story, screenplay, photography and animations .. It too gave a good message of bonding between living entities like animals, humans and trees .. Just felt like I was in a different world .. Kaash I can go and stay in Pandora for a while !!

So Christmas is around the corner so let me wish you all a merry Christmas and happy new year..

Reasons Why I Hate Sachin

Sachin recently hit the tremendous 175 against Australia but his toiling efforts went in complete vain as our tail-handlers could not even score 19 runs .. As soon as Sachin was back in the pavallion, the rest of the batsmen fell like a pack of cards .. We lost the battle by a very very narrow margin .. I mean it's nothing new .. It has happened so many times now that we are used to it now .. I was so dishearten and disappointed and so as millions of other Indians and cricket fans ..

Recently got a forwarded mail which states the reson why Sachin is hated everywhere and it truly reflects my thoughts and my mind ..

Following are the reasons why I hate Sachin:

1. He always plays a brilliant innings before my exam and hence doesn’t let me study.

2. Every time that I think of becoming an atheist, he gets into the nineties and I have no choice but to pray.

3. Every time I take a resolution not to bite my nails, he gets into the nineties and I am left with no choice but to chew on my nails.

4. He costs way too much on ‘super selector’ but since I have to pick him, the rest of my team gets weakened.

5. During a match, invariably when I want to go to the bathroom, he hits a boundary and hence I have no choice but to sit and watch the replay. Even my father/friends wont allow me to change the sit when Sachin is batting. No one cares about my agony.

6. As soon as I convince myself that God does not exist, he plays a straight drive and proves me wrong.

7. He brings the whole country to a standstill whenever he bats.

8. And the last and the biggest reason why I hate Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar …

He is going to retire sometime in the future .. A slightest thought about his retirement brings tears in my eyes .. When he will retire, I feel that my life will come to a complete standstill .. How will I live without watching him on the field, without seeing him scoring tons and tons of runs, without hearing his baby voice .. Uffff , why Sachin why ?? .. Why were you born In India and why did you play cricket ?? .. We just love you so much that we cant see you going ..

As they say, commit all your crime when Sachin is batting, coz even GOD is watching his batting.

That he can feel more pain than the youngest team member and the oldest fan, is a fact that deserves a story by itself.

But for me, that is enough to forget my pain and stand in unreserved applause for the man who makes me feel more Indian than any other.

So true !! Hats off to the master !!

Gupshup about Festivals, Maharashta Elections, Raj and Bigg Boss !!

What's up everyone out there ?? .. It's been almost a month and half since I blogged .. Had thought of writing about Champions' league and Maharashtra elections but somehow could not implement the thought ..

Last month, I was completely engrossed in festive mood .. First came Navratri even though I did not go for any Garba Night this time but just the visual clips on TV about live Garbas of Ahmedabad and Surat made me nostalgic and quite happy .. Then came Dasherra .. After that, it was a time of the king of festivials DIWALI .. did not take any vacation for that but still went home and socialized all three days which I spent at home .. Did a bit of shopping too ..

Now I'm back to my karma-Bhoomi mumbai and resumed my job .. Maharashtra assembly election results were up to the prediction and there wasn't any surprise .. The only thing that amused me was the unpredictable and unprecedented growth Raj Thackrey and his party MNS .. MNS might have won only 13 seats but they have single-handedly dented Shivsena-BJP's votebank and emerged as the secong largest party in Mumbai .. That is quite an achievement by a three-years old party to overpower four decade old stong and aggressive party like Shivsena .. MNS' presence has cost around 45 seats to BJP-Sena where saffron alliance could hv easily won ..Keeping apart his anti-north indian ideology, this man Raj Thackrey has charishma of his own like his uncle Balasaheb and his persona has created a magnificent impression atleast on marathi youth .. He is a man to watch out in Maharashtra politics .. Even after a bad governance, security lapses, uncontrollable corruption, mis management Congress-NCP alliance is back to power to ru(i)n the goverment ..

Bigg Boss 3 has started again and the season of Maa-Bahen ki Gaaliyaan is back .. Kamal Rashid Khan (KRK) single-handedly took up the job and performed the role of a villain and abused almost everyone in the house .. He has been kicked out of the Bigg Boss because of his misbehaviour and aggression but I personally feel that it is nothing more than a bloody TRP stunt .. He will be back soon .. Sometimes I wonder these TV producers/Directors really think that we are this much stupid and idiot ??

Loved the slogan which was told by someone on twitter: Congress ki aayee fir Sarkar - UP,Bihar khaaye maaar .. LOL !!

By the way, I stay in Navi Mumbai .. So here Mr. Ganesh Naik is an MLA from Belapur , his son Mr. Sandeep is an MLA from Airoli and his older son Dr. Sanjeev is an MP from Thane .. So this one family completely rules the navi mumbai political regime .. Did this phenomena ring any bell ?? .. Doesn't it identical to the fact that the one family of Delhi which rules our whole country since decades!!! .. Political dynasty at its best .. Cant help it ..

Religion : Cricket - God : Sachin !

Recently one of my college and blogger friends Nova expressed her annoyance about her hubby's passion and affection to cricket and how he (unconsciously) ignores her during cricket matches .. Few other girls supported her in her disgust as they were facing the same ditto problem from their husbands' fondness for cricket ..

This conversation literally kicked away my writer's block which I was facing since long and gave some gyan in my mind to pen down my thoughts about how cricket-crazy my family is .. Ofcourse, we belong to a cricket fanatic country and my family is no exception in that ..

Let me start with my dad .. I have not seen ardent cricket fan like him in my whole life .. Be it any god-damned match even Bangladesh v/s Kenya, you can find him watching on TV .. Whether it's 5 AM in the morning New Zealand match or late in the night West-indies match, no matter what, he will stick to his TV ignoring the whole little world around him .. He's a big Sachin fan .. He wears a pendant which has Sachin's face on it so that Sachin always remains close to his heart .. When Sachin used to get out, I could see the anger in dad's eyes and in behaviour .. He is not much into statistical data or a records lover but he does not want Ponting to break the record of Sachin for highest number of centuries in test cricket .. So right now his prayers mostly involves the wish that Ponting gets out early whenever he is on the crease .. One of our family friends Mr. Surajiwala even suffered from a heart-attack when Javed Miandad hit Chetan Sharma for a last-ball six ..

My 80-year old Nani (Grandmother) is a big cricket fan too .. even at this age, she captures every bit of news which involves our team, our captains and any damn controversies .. She even has many suggestions for our team like who should open and who should come in the middle order to name a few .. She watches cricket matches in her room having bhagwan-ki-maala in one hand andr emote in the other .. She even takes out her anger and disgust when Sehwag gets out playing a foolish and unnecessary slog shot .. It is so thrilling to watch those expressions ..

There is this thing called heriditary and genetics .. Hence I do have inherited this cricket-craziness and passion from my family .. I too watch all most all the matches amid tight schedules and office timings .. I'm also more into statistics and records .. I love to keep myself updated about almost every records and statistics of the cricket world .. My cousin and I have never missed watching a single match that has been played in Ahmedabad during our teens .. We used to plan in advance about it as how to bunk the school, tutions and how to prepare if exams are near .. Watching IPL matches in Mumbai was fun .. I even prayed and recited Hanuman Chalisa almost thousand times when our team was losing in the world cup final in 2003 .. It even rained and match was about to get canceled but then it started and we eventually lost .. May be the GOD was with Australian fans and heard their prayers which really made the clouds and in turn rain invisible and the match was resumed ..

I'm also lucky to get a wife who likes cricket and has knowledge of cricket rules (Not LBWs though !!) and even loves watching it on TV .. I even remembered her shouts, anger and agony when 'Mumbai Indians' lost last year's IPL match and failed to qualify for the semi-finals .. She was furious ..

So my message to all the wives/girl friends who have problems with their soul mate's cricket passion:

1) Cricket is religion for us and Sachin is our God ..

2) We do care for you and love you but we too have the same feeling for Team India as much as you have the love for shopping and gossiping ..

3) World around us becomes standstill for cricket fans like us when there is an important match going on or when there is a tense moment .. Please let us eat our nails during these tense moments as we dont like advices at that particular time ..

4) Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials when any match is going on ..

Oh !! it's 2 in the afternoon and I'm heading to cricinfo site for live cricket scores of India v/s New Zealand match which will start in a short while in Colombo ..

Swine-flu is omnipresent these days - in news, in talks, in papers and also in the bodies of humans !! .. It has already created a panic in India and it continues to haunt people even when I am writing this one .. At the same moment, I am getting an email from my office HR explaining the Dos and Don'ts during this Swine-Flu anarchy ..

Current Death Toll because of Swine-Flu:
Pune - 3
Ahmedabad - 1 (NRI who had come from Atlanta, USA)
Delhi - 1
Mumbai - 1
Chennai - 1

Pune is the worst-affected city while Delhi comes close second ..

Swine-Flu is not at all dangerous .. All cases of Swine Flu are not serious in nature .. So there is no need for panic .. It just needs an extra care and it can be prevented .. Public awareness is what the need of an hour instead of panic, chaos or fear ..

Some important points about Swine-Flu (H1N1 Viral Infection):

1) Swine Flu is a highly contagious disease .. So If suffering from flu-like symptoms ( fever, running nose, cold , sore throat, nausea / vomiting) , please isolate yourself to prevent transmission of infection to others as the disease spreads by droplet infection while coughing and sneezing ..

2) Report to doctor either family physician or preferably in a govt. hospitals as they are better equipped and take necessary treatment ..

3) Undergo nasal / throat swab test on the advice of the govt. doctors as required at recognized centres .. SWINE-FLU medicines are ONLY available with Govt. Hospitals in India ..

4) Avoid going to crowded places like market, malls, air ports, railway stations, multiplexes if possible. I know there are so many great and lucrative deals going on in malls but avoiding it will save you some money too .. And yes, you can watch 'Kaminey' next week .. No big deal, huh !!

5) Always use N95 masks whenever possible .. They are specifically made for H1N1 Viruses .. Just dont buy usual surgical masks ..

6) Be careful with elderly people, children , pregnant women and people suffering from TB, HIV, diabetic, chronic lung / heart and neurological diseases and Cancer as they are more susceptible ..

7) Develop healthy habits like nutritious diet, safe drinking water , enough rest, sleep and breathing exercise ..

Mumbai to Ahmedabad via TRAIN - An experience of Life Time

As few of you might be knowing that Ahmedabad is my native place and Mumbai is the city where I work .. It takes hardly 7 hours to reach Ahmedabd from Mumbai by train .. So I go to Ahmedabad almost every alternate weekend .. To travel by train is quite an economical and comfortable option than the flight .. I always take an overnight train on Friday night and reach Ahmedabad early morning of Saturday and I take Sunday night train to Mumbai and reach Monday early morning .. Best timings for any office-goer ..

I have travelled in almost every class of a train be it sleeper class, three-tier AC, two-tier AC or even First/Executive class AC .. Every class has its own charm and appeal .. Every class is fun in itself .. So let me take you through every class that I have travelled in and will share some of my experiences ..

Sleeper Class : This class mainly involves lower-middle and middle class families .. You will find people around you very friendly and approachable .. They will also help you in settling down and to put your luggage underneath your seat .. After few initial minutes, no matter what you are wearing or how you are looking or how weird you are behaving, some one from somewhere will surely ask you about your name, about your work and even about your family .. You will come to know about each and every passenger's family and work details withing few minutes .. People around you will offer you food, chocolates , sweets etc with a very friendly smile .. The whole of your compartment will turn into discussion forum with topics varies from politics to bollywood to cricket to sensex to recession .. If the talks are getting interesting then other compartment people will join you too .. All these chatting and gossiping will last till late night with smiles and loud laughs all around .. It's a very nice experience even though by comfort and amenity wise, this class is at the bottom .. But those constant chatters will overtake and overshadow your discomfort for sure .. It's fun to travel by this class ..

Three-tier AC : This class mainly involved middle-class and upper-middle class families .. After few minutes of your boarding of train, you will settle down and will exchange smiles with your other compartment mates .. If you are lucky and if you have got a friendly passengers, someone will ask you about your name and work .. But things wont stretch to your family and business details .. After some basic talks, everyone will go to sleep and there will be a total calm and peace in the whole compartment .. IF you really want a comfort and good value for your money, this class is the best one to travel .. Very economical though very comfortable ..

Two-tier AC: This class involves mainly upper-middle-class and rich class families .. Once you board the train and will settle down in your seat, I don't think anybody will ask you something or anyone will even exchange a smile with you .. Most of them are usually reading novels or talking on phones .. Once the TC checks the tickets, everyone will go into the lands of dream and there will be a complete peace with lights off and curtains close in no time .. you will even not remember the faces with whom you travelled in an overnight train .. Sometimes it becomes depressing if you are not feeling sleepy but comfort-wise this class is quite good ..

These are my experiences of each class .. I found that people with less money are far more friendly, smiling and approachable than the people with more money .. People with less money have so many things to talk about than the people with more money .. I don't know why this happens but you might have also experienced the same .. I don't remember any of the instances when I had talked to the person sitting beside me in the flight or even he/she has exchanged any smile with me whatsoever .. I may be grossly wrong in quoting this but this is what I have felt all these years ..

When Congress said that Ram Setu does not exist and Lord Ram - one of the prominent gods of Hinduism - was never born, people of India believed it and gave Congress a solid victory in the elections .. When same congress named the Bandra-Worli Sea-Link as Rajiv Gandhi Setu, people clapped, clapped and clapped ..

When Congress stated that the Muslims of India have the first right on every property which belongs to Indian Government, people of India felt that India is really a secular country and gave congress whole bunch of votes ..

When Varun Gandhi was charged under NSA for his remarks on Muslims and for 'Proud Being a Hindu' comment, people of India agreed to this heinous and lethal verdict of Mayawati .. But when Omar Abdullah had made "Proud to be a Muslim" speech during the Confidence vote in Parliament people of India praised and congratulated him for the his secularism and modesty .. When A R Antulay openly spoke that Hemant Karkare was killed by Hindus and not by 26/11 terrorists and even though he lost the election, he has been made a cabinet minister in UPA government, people of India thought this as a very secular and modest step ..

When Congress stated that ethnic cleansing of thousands of Hindu Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir valley is a nightmare and 1984 anti-sikh riots when 5000+ sikhs were butchered by congressmen is a past, people of India agreed to it .. But when same Congress always recalls the ghosts of Godhra Riots and calls it a national shame, people of India believed that and gave Congress a landslide victory ..

When Congress puts forward Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Jyotiraditya Scindia as youth-representatives of India, people of India believed that and they voted for them .. But people of India do not even think logically that they are not the face of youth that India wants instead they are just the bunch of politicians' kids who do not have to offer anything except their birth-surname ..

When the largest democracy of this world has a grand old ruling party which itself does not believe in democracy and it's being run (ruined) by one or two families, people of India still vote for them and lets them enjoy family dynasty ..

When some of my friends are ashamed of being a Hindu just because a temple near their place is having a Sat Sang Session and is chanting prayers/bhajans from loudspeaker .. They think that it's a noise pollution .. But the same bunch feels very holy and pious when Muslims offer their Namaz five times a day - everyday on loud speakers in every mosque all over India stating that 'There is no GOD except Allah!!' ..

Life at Mysore while Choker's Choke Again !!

I am in Mysore since last one and half months and I'm enjoying every moment of it .. I have been deputed here for SAP/ABAP training .. I was very skeptical about Mysore life when I got the deputation letter as everyone up north has some weird definitions about Southern India life and people .. When I arrived here, for first few days, I found it quite boring as I had no friends here .. But as very extrovert I have become lately, I made some new friends and I started enjoying .. Let me tell you that Mysore has one of the best weathers I have ever come across around the world be it US, India or Singapore .. Cool breeze, Evening Rains, Rainbow , Cold at night etc are omnipresent here .. Have not visited the tourist places yet as we are working on Saturdays too so the Sunday is spent in sleeping but went to few hotels and enjoyed the food to the fullest .. So with great weather and cool friends, I'm enjoying my stay here but yes, I'm missing Mumbai too at the same time ..

The icing on the cake was, there was a TV in the dining hall with the tata sky connection so I did not miss any of the matches of IPL and T20 world Cup .. Deccan Chargers won the IPL in a grand style but the real disappointment came when India was routed back after losing three consecutive matches in a row .. Deeply hurt I am .. But I guess Graeme Smith will be more disappointed than I am right now .. he and his team have choked again .. Even though Smith has denied the 'Chokers' tag, it will be thrown to his team every time they will lose an important game like this .. Even though, they have been credited as 'the best' or 'the second best' team before any important ICC event, they have lost in around 7-8 semi-finals after performing so well throughout the tournament .. But this time, Shahid Afridi - The only Pakistani whom I love the most - single handedly destroyed the hopes of SA of wining the first-ever world title .. People at trentbridge roar him to the crease when he came to bat at no. 3, brimming with optimism, hoping he will destroy the opposition with his recklessly cavalier approach .. And man, didn't he deliver the goods?? .. Afridi finished with 2 for 16 to go along with his half-century in 34 balls with some flamboyant shots and arrogant attitude .. SL too has won with a landslide victory over west-indies in the second semi-final so it is going to be a thrilling final encounter tomo .. I hope that Afridi scores century but SL should win .. At least the world cup will stay in ASIA ..

I did not get the time to update the blog due to hectic training and lack of Internet connection .. But I was enjoying my life at Mysore to the fullest ..

UPA rises - Optimism Crashes

Despite several failures and letdowns of UPA/Congress government such as prise rise, inflation, terror attacks in every corner of India, minority appeasement, ignorance of majority community and playing with faiths and beliefs of Hindu community, people still gave a definite and straightforward mandate in favour of UPA. I, being apro-BJP guy, felt a little disappointed .. Okay, I would say very disappointed but this is part and parcel of politics - in fact life .. But I don't think it's a victory of Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Baba .. It's a victory of spotless, sober, non-corrupt, intelligent, honest persona of Dr. Manmohan Singh which has contributed the most in achieving the unprecedented victory ..

There is no double doubt on that the people have chosen Manmohanji over Advaniji when it came to the PM post .. I think it's an end of the road for Advaniji .. Advaniji has been a great leader - inspiration to many and always overshadowed by Atalji .. Atalji has go tall the respect in this world but it was Advaniji who transformed that respect into votes for BJP and made BJP a national party which really can fight and battle against the grand old Congress at national level .. But I guess some people never get donuts and he is one of them ..

After the verdict, I certainly feel that people of this country don't deserve anything better than to get hassled by poverty, inflation and ultimately by the bullets of Islamic Terrorists .. Congress has retained Delhi and their reign of terror will continue abated .. I respect people's mandate but I also feel - Fellow Countrymen, you will only get what you deserve ..

So people have voted for more terror attacks, more bombs and more carnage .. Awesome .. One learns from history and never makes mistakes those again but I guess we Indians are different breed which don't learn from the history, do we ??

Busy --- But Still Hoping for The Best !!!

Hello everyone .. I'm in Mysore - undergoing a tough hectic training with very busy schedules .. Still my politically passioned mind is somehow able to keep itself updated about the latest happenings in IPL-1 and IPL-2 .. IPL-1 is the Indian Political league and IPL-2 is the Indian Premiere League .. I wont be able to see the couting process on TV tomo as I have training on Saturdays too but will keep checking the score in my iPhone ..

I hope BJP/NDA comes out as winner and that too with a flying colors so that they dont have to woo other smaller-regional-selfish-hopeless parties ..

Hope for the best .. Amen !!

IPL Season 2 & IPL Fantasy Cricket

IPL has started from Today .. I was a little disappointed when I heard that it's not going to be played in India but then today I was happy while watching the first match that at least it is happening and I will be able to see some quality cricket ..

By the way, this time once again, there is no team from Ahmedabad in IPL..So I will be cheering for Mumbai Indians because Mumbai is my work place..It's the city which gives me my bread and butter...My Karm-Bhoomi..Another reason could be the presence of my favourite cricketers Sachin and Jayasurya in the team...

So now Everyday at 8 PM after coming to office, I will stick to my TV ignoring the bunch of activities and people !! .. It is awesome to watch so many different players of different nationalities get togather and play as a unit .. I hope I will have a gala time in future ..
