Children’s Multicultural Celebration Comes to Mid-Town April 10th

Sacramento, CA – In celebration of its two-year anniversary, the Buena Vista Child Development Center has teamed up with Wells Fargo, the Instituto Mazatlan Bellas del Artes (IMBA) dance troupe, and the Buena Vista Rancheria to host an old fashioned street fair in mid-town Sacramento. The event will be held on Saturday, April 10th from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at 1412 20th Street, Sacramento.

There will be food, arts and crafts, entertainment, community outreach, and a variety of children activities. Storytellers, singers and even a flute player will perform at this wonderfully diverse event. There will be special presentations by Native American Indian dancers and drummers. Anticipated entertainment highlights to include:

•	Trick roping & whip cracking stunts by cowboy performer James Barrera
•	Mexican folk dancing by IMBA -- one of Sacramento’s top folk dance troupes
•	Hawaiian &Tahitian folk dancing by Ohana
•	African folk dancing & drumming by Fenix Drums & Dance

This event will include an “Earth Day Fair”; a special area dedicated to providing educational information and activities promoting “Diversity of Culture: One Earth.” The street in front of the center will be closed off to car traffic and a stage set up for live entertainment. This event takes place in conjunction with Sacramento’s Second Saturday Arts Walk. All ages are welcome and it is free to the public.

There will also be free infant car safety seats available at no cost to parent attendees, sponsored by Sacramento Native American Health Center. However, the seats must be reserved in advance by contacting Cibonay Cordova at (916) 341-0575, ext. 213.

If you would like to participate or want more information, please email Gloria Torres at gloria@buenavistatribe.com, or Amber Llacuna-Benavente at amber@buenavistatribe.com.

Jacob, featured in the Rough Cut and The Rescue, will be the guest speaker. Jacob was the first ex-child soldier Invisible Children ever interacted with, and with the help of ICO he has completed secondary school and is on his way to university. There is a gap year worked into the education system in Uganda, so he is using his gap year to travel and share his story.

This is the first time Invisible Children has ever had the people featured in their films come on tour and share their story in person. It is an incredible opportunity for the Sacramento community to be a part of. The Legacy Tour will be thought-provoking, expansive and beautiful.

The event is absolutely FREE, so please feel free to invite your friends.

From 5:00 - 6:00 PM we will have African dancers and poetry as well as a pizza fundraiser to help cover the museum's costs.

From 6:00 - 7:00 PM will be the film documentary and the featured speakers sharing their stories and efforts to end the longest running war in Africa.
