Family Portraits Gold Coast, Brisbane & Northern Rivers

2010-03-03T12:45:00.000+11:00

I guess this is just a bit of an ad for ourselves to remind our lovely clients that we also specialise in family portrait photography and also individual or couples portrait photography. We have a portable studio and equipment so we can come to your home, birthday party or special event to take those precious photos that you will value as a family for years to come. We especially find its a great idea to photograph young children and babies in their home environment where they feel comfortable and will more likely be themselves. For family groups we usually suggest going to a nearby park or beach where the family can be photographed having a good laugh and some real fun together. Our style is natural, as always, so we endeavour to capture real emotion, rather than staged smiles, which is much more beautiful as your photos will capture the true personalities of yourselves and children. Don't forget to include the family pet!

For more information please contact us via our website www.solphotography.com.au or to see more of our portraits we have a specific portrait section on our website.

Jamie & Micheal's Currumbin Wedding Photos

2010-02-25T13:11:00.004+11:00

Jamie & Micheal looked absolutely gorgeous on their wedding day which was a beautiful sunny day at Currumbin's Flat Rock beach. Another reminder of why we love being wedding photographers on the Gold Coast! Their reception was held at the Tugun Surf Club with the fantastic panoramic views of the ocean from the balcony. For more of Jamie & Micheal's wedding photos please see the 'recent weddings' section of our website.

Angela & Ron's wedding at Q-Deck

2010-01-15T11:36:00.001+11:00

Q-Deck are another of our favourite venues who we are very lucky to work with on a regular basis. The views are stunning and the events coordinators really look after their clients beautifully. Angela and Ron had a very intimate wedding there and also included a location shoot at the beach which is another great reason why this venue is so good - the beach is within walking distance!

Expo @ the Gold Coast Art Centre

2010-01-14T17:09:00.000+11:00

We had a really busy but very enjoyable day at the expo at the Gold Coast Art Centre on Sunday - a big hello to all we met there. We have booked quite a few weddings as a result and met a lot of great people. We'll definitely be back next year!

Emma & Tim ... wedding in Brisbane!

2010-01-14T17:04:00.005+11:00

Emma & Tim were married on the 21st November at the LaTrobe Chapel in Brisbane and then had their reception at the Wynnum Golf Club... in between the ceremony, which was beautiful, and the reception they had a really funky photo shoot in Brisbane City. They started at the Powerhouse, then went for a bit a walk to some other great locations nearby.

Brooke & Adam @ Santai, Casuarina

2010-01-14T16:30:00.000+11:00

We loved this wedding for many reasons. Firstly because it was close to home - yay! Secondly because we work very closely with the Santai Resort, in particular the Bamboo Restaurant. This place is very contemporary with a balinese feel and beautiful lagoon pools and tropical gardens... right by the beach! Santai is at Casuarina, just south of Kingscliff. This whole area is underpopulated and perfect for beach shots without any people in the background. Quite often these beaches are all but deserted. Brooke and Adam, along with their little girls enjoyed a very relaxed, natural style of photo shoot with absolutely stunning shots to show for it.

Jo & Anthony November 2009

2010-01-14T15:46:00.002+11:00

Wow... this was a hilariously fun but of course beautiful wedding. The whole bridal party was rather naughty, causing Dan to blush more than once! We won't show you here but some of the photos were rather risque and just so funny. I think you'll agree that weddings don't have to be serious all the time - there's plenty of opportunity to have a laugh and these guys definitely did that. I think this wedding is a perfect example of a bride and groom truly being themselves on the day. They were married at Victoria Park Golf Course in Brisbane, a very beautiful location. I know their album will be gorgeous - I can't wait to get started on it...

Alleah & Ben October 2009 @ The Radisson

2010-01-14T14:54:00.009+11:00

Alleah & Ben were another of our delightful October clients and chose the gorgeous Radisson Resort Gold Coast for everything. This is one place where you really can have it all from getting ready through to the ceremony, location shoot and reception and with great style.

Trying to Catch Up

2010-01-14T14:36:00.000+11:00

I'm running really behind with our blog...sorry! Actually its because we've been so busy and that's a great problem for us to have... loads of beautiful photos as a result. We really love what we do. We have a fantastic life photographing other peoples very special and memorable day - doesn't get much better than this! I am always (Bec) very excited to see the photos from the day of shooting that Dan return's with and he often sits up late into the night after a wedding to view all the photos he's taken throughout the day. He's always very amped up as he pores himself out for every couple and really enjoys the fun and excitement of the day. So this is how he unwinds, with a nice cold beer or glass of red. We've made lots of new friends because of Dan's dedication and enthusiasm on the wedding day which is wonderful.

To previous clients... if you'd like me to show your photos here or on our facebook account please let me know as I don't profile every wedding we do as I just don't get the time to.

Kaleb's Birthday!

2009-11-28T17:29:00.001+11:00

As most of our clients will know - we had a little baby boy on October 26th 2008 so we have just celebrated his first birthday! Its been a fantastic year for us as a family and as a business. We have shot loads of beautiful weddings, created many albums and made a lot of knew friends throughout the year. We have also enjoyed much valued family time and loved watching our little man grow and develop, delighting us all along the way.

Carolyn & Tim 17th October 2009

2009-11-28T17:08:00.001+11:00

Carolyn & Tim had another beautiful day for their wedding with the sun shining brightly and no rain in sight. They were married at Paradise Point, a stunning place for wedding photography, with their wedding reception at Gordoni's Cafe. These guys really relaxed during their location which is really important so we can capture how you are really feeling on the day - not just your nerves about being photographed. If you are particularly uncomfortable in front of the camera then consider an Engagement Shoot - this gives us an opportunity to get to know you better. Other couples have said they felt very positive about the wedding photo shoot afterwards and were much more comfortable as a result.

Andrea & Lucas 11th October 2009 @ Burleigh Heads

2009-11-28T16:44:00.001+11:00

Andrea & Lucas were married on one of those days that you really were hoping to avoid - raining, windy, precarious! It was however a wonderful wedding with the ceremony changed from the beach to the North Burleigh Surf Club just to be on the safe side and the reception was also held there. Fortunately it cleared up enough for a stunning and very hilarious location shoot to take place on the beach.

Lucy & Nathan @ Froggy's Beach 3rd October 2009

2009-11-28T16:22:00.000+11:00

Lucy & Nathan chose a gorgeous spot for their ceremony - Froggy's Beach at Tweed Heads. Its a very small, intimate location with a big green frog painted on one of the large boulders - hence the name! It was a hot day despite only being early in October but a perfect day for a wedding. Lucy & Nathan then celebrated their reception at the Bamboo Restaurant, Santai Domain Resort , Casuarina. This is a truly beautiful restaurant and also a great location for photos as the grounds of the resort are stunning and just a stones throw from the beach.

Emma & Daniel's Kingscliff Wedding September 2009

2009-11-28T16:00:00.001+11:00

Emma & Daniel made the most of this beautiful part of the world - Kingscliff. They married in the local Catholic Church with a lovely traditional ceremony then headed down to Cabarita Headland for a glorious location shoot, despite the wind! We included one hilarious photo of the wind picking up Emma's veil and depositing it rather unceremoniously on Bec, from Sol Photography , during the location shoot! Once the sun had well and truly set, with Dan shooting right up to dark, the bridal parted departed for Kingscliff Beach Club - another venue we love working with as they always provide a fantastic service to their clients.

Rebecca & Graeme 19th September 2009

2009-11-28T15:38:00.001+11:00

Oceanview Winery at Mt Mee was a new location for us and a fantastic rural backdrop for this fantastic couple. Bec & Graeme really enjoyed their day and have a beautiful flushmount album to remember it by.

Rebecca & Troy 12 September 2009

2009-11-28T15:23:00.001+11:00

Rebecca & Troy had lovely weather for their wedding held at Macarthur Park Wedding Chapel & Gardens which is a beautiful location little chapel in a rainforest setting. The gardens provided the perfect backdrop for the location shoot with stunning results! They then went to the Courthouse Restaurant in Cleveland for a very intimate reception.

Kristy & Jamie

2009-11-28T12:05:00.001+11:00

On the 5th September Kristy & Jamie's gorgeous wedding took place at The Glades - one of our favourite places to shoot. So many different spots for your location shoot provides you with a lot of contrast for your photos. Kristy & Jamie were lots of fun and finished the night with a beautiful Lantern Ceremony. There videography was done by our friends at Fisheye Studio who we love working with!

THINK PINK IN OCTOBER!

2009-09-30T20:15:00.000+10:00

Just want to remind everyone that it's breast cancer awareness month starting tomorrow - October. I encourage you to think pink and purchase something when and where you can that will contribute to this very important cause. Please see www.nbcf.org.au for more information.

Tip for the week!

2009-09-30T14:32:00.003+10:00

Now as tempting as it is... it's not a great idea to wear fake tan on your wedding day because you come up looking very orange in photos! So pleeeeeaaaaaaaaase go a la natural for the sake of your precious photos.

Bec.

Lisa & Peter

2009-09-30T14:10:00.000+10:00

Lisa & Peter had a beautiful country wedding at Cedar Creek Estate in the Gold Coast Hinterland - Mt Tamborine. It was a delightful day with soft sunlight helping us to achieve stunning photographs.

Paula & Dan

2009-09-30T13:55:00.001+10:00

Paula & Dan are a fantastic Brazilian couple - lots of fun and laughs were had and gorgeous photos that reflect how much these two really enjoy each other and life itself! Their wedding ceremony and reception took place at The Glades Golf Club which is a lovely venue at Robina, Gold Coast. We have photographed weddings at The Glades Golf Club before and find it to be a very welcoming venue with a lot of scope for wedding photos.

Natasha & Scott August 2009

2009-09-23T19:33:00.000+10:00

Natasha and Scott kicked off August for us with a gorgeous fun filled wedding at Tweed Heads. Their ceremony was held at Razorback Hill with fantastic views of Tweed Heads and Mount Warning in the distance. They then went off to Greenmount for their location shoot and onto Twin Towns Outrigger Resort for their reception.

Rohana & Dan July 2009

2009-09-23T19:12:00.005+10:00

Rohana & Dan had their reception at the Marriott , Surfers Paradise so a lot of their wedding photos were taken there. It was such a beautiful location for the bride's portrait photos. They also had a location shoot at Southport Spit area and a of laughs were had...
