You may have seen a news headline on this that said the Earth will be unrecognizable in 2050. The news came from a science conference held in Washington D.C.
Experts are saying the population will be nine billion by 2050(7 billion by this year). This mass of people will strain the planets resources and food supplies. As always poorer developed counties will suffer the most.We are already seeing some food shortages in the world due to climate change. Can you imagine what it will be like in 2050 with another two billion people?
All governments of all peoples are going to have to come up with some kind of family planning agenda and education process to get this problem taken care of.Our planet has it's limits which we are already pushing on some things now.
Leave a comment and let me know what you think about this issue.

By David Bunch Platinum Quality Author

It all started, according to Ralph Wallace, writing, appropriately enough, in the Baltimore Sun, when George Fred Keck, young Chicago architect, visited his "House of Tomorrow," which was being built for the Century of Progress Exposition in 1933. It was a bitter cold January day, but inside the building, 90 per cent of whose wall areas were clear glass, the workmen had shed their coats and were perspiring. Sunlight pouring in through the glass walls was the only source of warmth. The idea of heating a house with sunlight was here being demonstrated--by accident! A decade later, Keck and other experts eliminated the last "bugs."

A solar house, as now perfected, uses only two-thirds as much fuel as a conventional house of comparable dimensions. Through its all-glass, south-facing front, it admits a wealth of natural light, which saves its fortunate inhabitants from much of the eyestrain that seems to be one of the penalties of western civilization.

Occupants of a solar house can save vastly on their electric bills. They do not have to turn on lights in the evening until fully two hours after neighbors, dwelling in ordinary houses, have turned theirs on. No recent development in housing has so caught the imagination of the general American public. Thousands of solar houses have already been built-a whole real estate development in Chicago is called Solar Park-and tens of thousands are being planned, complete with triple-glazed walls and sun-fast carpets, drapes and upholstery. The foregoing is a record of achievements that reflect human determination to gain ascendancy over the basic power-source in our part of the universe.

Reliance on power from coal, oil, and other sources of previously stored energy, is reliance on power at second-hand. True enough, there remains in the earth fifty times as much coal as has been extracted to date; on the other hand, human demands for power have grown until now, in our complicated way of life, we are using more than one hundred times the energy actually required by our bodies. And the rate is steadily increasing.

Furthermore, with the spread of western-type civilization to other continents and to the so-called backward peoples of the Third World, demands for cheap power can only be expected to multiply. Meanwhile, discoveries of new deposits of coal and petroleum lag far behind the potential demand. These facts have spurred interest in the direct utilization of solar energy.
There are numerous other types of solar power lighting for the outdoors. There are so many choices of outdoor solar power lights there is really no reason to consider conventional electrical light for outside lighting needs.

The cost of having someone come out and dig up your yard and then paying an electrician to put all the wiring in and then hook it up to your existing system, you are looking at a lot higher cost than for outdoor solar lights.

Let's look at a few of the different types of solar power lights and some ideas of how to use them.

Floating solar lights

These floating lights are used many times as night time decorations for your swimming pool. The floating solar energy lights can be used in ponds, fountains or any other water you might like to use them. The floating lights don't have to be used only in the water; most of them come with ground stakes so you can put them anywhere in the yard or garden. It is easy to see that floating solar lights are easy to use, versatile as well as affordable.

Solar step lights

These outdoor solar power lights are used to increase safety and decoration for stairs, decks and pathways. Their light is not as bright or invasive as some of the other solar lights. The light that they do produce is plenty to find our way even in the darkest nights.

Solar accent lights

Solar accent lights can be used to make different lighting effects around the yard or in the garden. It is possible to move the accent lights around and have different the light shine on different trees, plants, structures each night, week or any time period that you choose.

There are so many outdoor solar lights to choose from, it may be difficult to decide which ones you want. The most important thing in your selection is that you are comfortable with the design and style of the lights, but there are other considerations.

These are a few of the things that you might want to use as tips in making your selection.

Ensure that the outdoor solar lights that you choose have the ultra bright LEDs (light emitting diodes) instead of conventional light bulbs. The LEDs operate with very little power, this is important because their power is supplied by Ni-Cad or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.

The solar panels made on the top of the light absorb the sunlight in the daytime hours, and then it is transferred to the batteries to operate the light at night. The less the amount of the stored energy the light uses, the longer the light will burn.

LEDs can last for up to 100,000 hours. Chances are good that you will never have to change the LEDs. LEDs are much more durable than incandescent or florescent light bulbs. They are electronic component without any moving parts.

LEDs are environmentally friendly. They are made without mercury or any other harmful products the way florescent bulbs are.

The solar outdoor lights that you choose should be made of non-corrosive heavy duty material. Your choice of lights needs to be able to withstand harsh weather conditions. It is advisable to store your solar lights inside during the winter months.

Always place your outdoor solar lights in the yard or garden where they will get as much sunlight as possible during the daylight hours. The more natural sunlight the outdoor solar lights can absorb, the longer they will light up the night.

Two of the most pressing issues facing us as a race and this beautiful planet we are privileged to call home are the level of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere and global warming being caused by, amongst other things, this self-same level of carbon emissions.

Where Do We Stand?

We need to take steps - and take them very soon and very quickly - to reduce the amount of carbon emissions being released into the air and the resultant global warming, which is not only threatening our environment but also many of the amazing animal species with which we're privileged to share this planet. If the ice at the Arctic continues to melt as it has been doing, polar bears' normal habitat will gradually disappear, threatening this beautiful creature with extinction. And that's just one example of the destruction our poor energy habits are wreaking.

What Should We Do?

Solar energy is beamed down to us in great abundance from the sun in the form of light and heat. And the great thing is that this energy is free and shows no sign of drying up. In fact, the Earth receives about six thousand times more energy in just one hour than our whole planet uses in an entire year! Now that's a whole heap of energy.

So, imagine what would happen if we were to harness just a small amount of that energy bombarding us every day? And not just every day, but every hour of every day. We could get all the electricity we need and power practically everything using solar energy, meaning we'd be reducing our carbon emissions to practically zero, since the technology we use to convert sunlight into electricity is clean, renewable energy that has no mechanical parts and produces no emissions of any kind.

It All Starts At Home

If everybody makes a conscious effort and starts to take advantage of solar energy in their homes, we'll be off to a great start. Just open your drapes as soon as you get up, and feel the heat from the sun start to warm up your home. Yes, it's as simple as that. You're actually harnessing solar energy through a technique known as passive solar heating.

But, you can take this further by storing the heat for later use by using thermal mass. So, what is thermal mass?, you ask. It's material that naturally stores heat and releases it for later use. Such materials as concrete, adobe and water work great as thermal mass. So, if you have a concrete floor in front of your windows, that will store heat, and, as the room temperature cools in the evening, the stored heat will be gradually released through natural convection to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room.

The more thermal mass you have, the more heat will be retained. You can easily add more thermal mass by filling up empty plastic milk cartons with water and leaving them in front of your windows. They may not look that great but they'll do a great job of absorbing and releasing heat.

So, the answer to the question "Should we use solar energy?" is a most emphatic "Yes"! And the sooner, the better, so get started today - open your drapes and make the most of passive solar heating.
Celery tops the list which surprises me,I would have guessed strawberries. Strawberries is listed as the 3rd worst on the list.
The best thing to do about the food with pesticides on, is to go organic.Buy from your local farmers when you can and buy in season too. If you can, plant a garden and grow some of your own.
If you cannot do any of the above wash your fruit and veggies before you cook or eat them.
Here are some ways to cut water usage on your lawn.
1)Water your lawn early in the morning as this will help with less evaporation.
2)Don't cut your grass to short. The longer your grass is the more the plants make shade for the soil, thus less evaporation of water
3)Plant native grass for your area and also use a grass that is drought resistant.
4)Work to improve your topsoil by using organic material for fertilizer.Mulch your grass clippings as this also helps the soil to hold water.
5)Do not use chemicals on your lawn.Organic lawns do not need as much water as lawns that use chemicals.
6)Aerate your lawn. This will promote deeper root growth. I have provided a video on how to aerate your lawn.

7)Use a mower that has a sharpened blade
8)Do not over fertilize
9)Direct down spouts towards your lawn not at streets or driveways or use rain barrels at your downspouts and use the rainwater to water your lawn.
10)Allow your lawn to temporarily brownout when drought conditions persist
Some forecasters are saying that the weather pattern setting up now on the Atlantic are similar to those in 1995,1998,and 2005. Also bearing some likeness to 2008. All were very high impact years, with 2005 being the worst(27 named storms). @005 had one we all remember I am sure, Katrina.
AccuWeather.com is predicting 17 named Atlantic storms this season, with 10 storms reaching hurricane force. Four are predicted to be major category 3 or above status, with winds of 111mph or higher.
Colorado State University is predicting 15 named storms in 2010, 8 hurricanes,4 major.
The National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration forecast will be out later this month.
The 2009 hurricane season was quiet compared to other hurricane seasons as there were only 9 named storms. 3 reached hurricane force and 2 were major.
The El Nino conditions last season are being credited with the relative quiet season.El Ninos bring above-normal sea surface temperatures to the eastern and central tropical Pacific Ocean Those rise in temperatures alter weather patterns across broad stretches of the Pacific, the Americas, and beyond. Another effect of El Nino is the suppression of tropical storm and hurricane formation in the Atlantic.El Nino has also has been credited with the record snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic states this winter season.
Many forecasters now believe El Nino has receded and is being replaced by La Nina. La Nina means below-normal sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific and a more active hurricane season in the Atlantic. La Nina does not act alone another factor forecasters expect to help is a decade -long cycle of higher sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic, where many of the tropical storms start.
As soon as the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration posts its forecast I will post it.
Here are the 4 primary strategies that they use to go green.

Lower Consumption

Decreasing the amount of the earth's resources by doing such things as, turning down your thermostats a few degrees in the winter to buying goods that use less packaging, can help you reduce your effect on the world's limited resources and thus help you to live a green life.

Fix It Instead Of Replacing It

In this disposable society we live in today it is easier to throw something away when it gets broken rather than trying to fix it and thus saving the resources it would take to produce a new one or to dispose of the old one in a landfill. Repairing the item before throwing it away could make a significant impact on finite resources.

Renewable Energy

The time of seemingly endless energy, in the form of fossil fuels, is quickly coming to an end. They don't make anymore dinosaurs. Learn to use the relative new renewable energy sources that are proving more and more viable each day. Things like solar and wind energy are becoming more affordable and more technologically feasible every day. Learn more about how you can use them to live a greener life.

Make Wiser Choices

Research products you use before buying them. Consider the entire life cycle of the product and how it is made. Choose the product or service that has the least effect on the environment when it is made.
Adopting a "green lifestyle" can be done gradually and DOES NOT mean you need to go out and start hugging trees in your backyard OR riding your scooter to work in the rain.

There are very, very simple changes you can make in your lifestyle, and make them gradually so that you will hardly even notice any "inconvenience" to living a more green life. In fact, not only does adopting a green lifestyle mean saving on the earth's finite resources, it also means saving money because a large part of living green involves saving energy; things like gasoline, electricity, heating oil, etc. So the lifestyle is actually easier on the budget and should give you more disposable income each month. Not a bad deal is it?

Here's some simple tips and easy changes you can make to start living more eco-friendly:

Using Less Energy

Weather-proof your house, You'll be very happily surprised at the amount of dollar savings you can achieve simply by getting an energy audit from your local power company and adopting the changes they suggest. Most utility companies offer this service at no charge and you should definitely take advantage of it if you haven't already done so.

Believe it or not, simply doing the laundry is a huge user of energy. You need to heat the water to wash the clothes, then heat the clothes to dry them. Instead, try washing your clothes in cold water and also give the old-fashioned clothes line a try for drying your clothes. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the amount of money you can save by doing these two simple things.

Cut Down on Water Usage

Everyone likes a nice hot bath once in a while. Consider taking them less frequently as your typical bath will use up to 5 times more water and energy than a shower. Speaking of showers, buy one of those energy efficient shower heads that cut down on water flow by 1/3 to 1/2. This can be a huge hot water saver.

When you run your dishwasher, make sure that it is full so that you maximize each load and not unnecessarily waste hot water on partial loads. If you just have a few dishes to be cleaned, consider doing them by hand.

Getting Back and Forth to Work - Carpooling

Consider joining a car pool. Yes, it is not nearly as convenient as taking your own car to work, but for the extra time involved, you'll see your gasoline bill plummet.

This list is just a very small number of the things you can do to start living greener. There are many websites that go into much more depth on things you can do to become a more eco-friendly member of the world community. One such site is listed below.

To find out more hints and tips on how you can gradually adopt a green living, eco-friendly lifestyle, you can find plenty of green living tips at The Living Green Club website. Logan Montrose is passionate about the subject but also has a practical understanding of what the average family is both willing and able to do in terms of lifestyle changes. He has become so enthused about the importance of educating as many people as possible about living a green lifestyle (and educating them that it does not involve large changes to their current lifestyle) that he has started a website devoted to the topic which can be found at http://www.livinggreenclub.com/
The president says al-Qaida and other terrorist groups are trying to acquire nuclear material, and must be stopped.
"Two decades after the end of the Cold War, we face a cruel irony of history: The risk of a nuclear confrontation between nations has gone down, but the risk of nuclear attack has gone up," Mr. Obama said.
This year's meeting is expected to end with a joint declaration to guide work in preventing terror groups and criminal gangs from getting access to nuclear material. Mr. Obama says that is a first step toward his long-term goal of ridding the world of nuclear weapons.
These threats of nuclear terrorism can only suggest to all of us that nuclear power is not the answer to future energy needs. The threat of terrorists and what to do with nuclear waste are enough to turn our heads away from nuclear power.
We know fossil fuels are also are not the answer for future energy needs. Alternate energy sources such as solar and wind power can help us meet future energy needs for our world.
If you add up all the solar energy that the earth receives in just one year, you would end up with twice as much energy then you could ever get from all of the coal, uranium, oil, and natural gas resources. We need to use as much as we can of these free energy sources.

When you buy green clothing, what may help you to be more clear on what to buy is what you believe in regarding the environment and how you want to help improve it. You also should understand your loved ones needs for their health and well-being. A third consideration is how much you can afford. The best way to start out on this venture is to find out more about the types of eco-friendly "green clothing" out there, how they are defined, and what will suit you best.

One type of green clothing is organic; in other words, these are made from materials that have been grown or produced without chemicals in any way. This includes any animal products from sheep (wool), silkworms (silk), cashmere (Cashmere goat) or any other fabrics that can be made from animals. (Note: we are not talking about fur here -- nor do we wish to!)

Some of those chemicals would include pesticides used for insect control, fertilizers that promote growth, or any additives used during processing or manufacturing. Many of these have been proven to be harmful to humans as well as the environment.

Another type of eco-friendly, or sustainable green clothes are made from natural fibers, known as natural clothing. This means that the fibers come from materials that will return to the earth at the end of their life cycle. In other words, they will not leave inorganic residue or un-composted materials, but will completely re-compost through natural decomposition. This includes fibers made from plants and animals.

A third type of eco clothing are those items that have been recycled through family reuse, consignment shops, vintage shops, etc., or those that have been broken down back into fiber that will be used in creating NEW fibers and materials, re-crafted into new wearing apparel, and then sold as new. This is focused on true recycling, which is certainly in our consciousness more and more these days!

Now this is not all so simple, since we must take note of some additional factors that impact the eco-friendly green clothing market, such as how the original fibers are grown, processed, and treated, if there are any chemicals used in those processes. These additives may have an influence on your choices about exactly what green clothing you want.

Although the USDA has certain regulations on certifying exact conditions for a grower to be "organic," for growing foods and how the soil has been conditioned for a certain period of time, it does not have any regulations for the land upon which fiber production occurs, including animal products. The exception to this is cotton, which, since it is a food source (it can produce high protein foods, cooking oils, and the like). Check the regulations in your country if you have any questions about its standards.

While natural fiber clothes only use fibers that will re-compost, there are still issues that might affect whether you want to purchase them or not. To think of green clothing on a wider scale, you may want to know how much energy is expended during either the growing or the production cycles of those fibers and the impact on the environment. For example, to clear land for growing certain fibers, sometimes deforestation occurs, without proper reforestation or land management, which can be devastating to the environment in the long run.

Even though fibers may be grown on organically treated land, this does not guarantee that there are no chemicals used in the actual processing. Although they may be labeled "natural" or "eco-friendly," that may just refer to the fact that the fibers can be re-composted, but not regard the processing or manufacturing. This would still leave you subject to exposure to chemicals. Something to think about!

Recycling is good, as we know, but this would include clothing and fabrics grown, processed, and manufactured in traditional ways, including the use of pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and all the varying chemicals used in clothes processing. It would still be considered to be "green clothing" because it has been recycled for further use. However, it may be what your family needs financially, and can help you save a lot of "green" you might spend otherwise. It is totally up to you. It still helps save the environment by reducing the production of new fabrics and clothing from scratch.

So in your search for the perfect green clothing, be aware of what the types are, how you define "green," and what best suits your needs. Green clothing can be fashionable, economic, and better for your health and the environment; it is up to you as to what will work for you.

environment. Our choices of clothing show our mood, preference, and the climate we each live

in.The clothes we wear, what they are made of,how they are made, are an echo of who we

are and what we believe in. Conscious of it or not our clothes can define our role model.

Today's green fibers include organic cotton,bamboo,soybean fiber,hemp,SeaCell,and

sasawashi and echo-friendly hybrid fibers such as Tencel and Modal. Also used are

repressed vintage fabrics, cashmere, leather, silk, and wool. Some recycled fibers are made

from soda pop bottles,mill-end surplus products fabrics, cotton, wool, and leather.

Remember the true cost of clothing impacts are not on the hang tags. The cost to the planet

and the people who produce it can tell you the story of environmental impact. For example

cotton saturated with pesticides, and fabric dyes laden with heavy metals;oil extracted from

the land;chemicals used to scour, bleach, and finish fabrics have a very high impact on our

planet. Buying sustainable clothing that comes from echo friendly fabrics and colored with

low impact dyes is a step for helping to save the environment. Buying quality clothing is

another step because qaulity means the clothes you buy last longer.Buying echo-friendly

clothes will make you feel good knowing you have done a small step to help save our planet

and it's environment.
With spring, Earth Day also draws nearer (April 22nd); as individuals, we must remember and realize the importance of global warming and all of its implications. Subsequent topics discussed as of late include space travel/burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and green building. As nations like Haiti and Chile prepare for rebuilding and new construction, there are many things to consider when advancing. Moving towards cleaner, greener infrastructure is vital in ensuring a successful restoration campaign.
The U.S. Green Building Council is a 501(3)(c) non-profit community of leaders working to make green buildings available to everybody. It’s one of the many organizations playing its role in green progression. Heavy discussion lies on green topics, especially the more recent ones like space travel; others include deforestation, green crops, clothing, energy, and much more. It’s important that we as individuals/citizens stay up-to-date on important global topics like warming. As organizations like the CGI (Clinton Global Initiative), AFH (Architecture for Humanity), and the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) conducts sustainability campaigns and enforce strict green constraints, our world will continue to become a better, cleaner place. Machines behind the CGI, Doug Band and Former President Clinton have been pursuing an emission reduction plan in the San Francisco Bay area. Meanwhile, CEO of GEC(Globetrotters Engineering Corperation), Niranjan Shah is underway with green building projects in Chicago, IL. Despite these few national examples, green infrastructure, particularly in places like Haiti, has become an integral part of restoration and construction.
This aligns with the implications of "economic viability" and long term sustainability, posing the questions, "Can Haiti really make it through all the costs of repair and reconstruction?" Infrastructure can take a toll on any economy, especially if the funds aren't there. This goes hand in hand with meeting modern day LEED standards and approaching this in a "greener" sense. Organizations like Architecture for Humanity will make this possible. Architecture for Humanity (1999) is a nonprofit design services firm building "a more sustainable future through the power of professional design." It was formulated through a group of building professionals whose overwhelming passion for construction drove them to provide a way for underdeveloped, suffering countries to rebuild. Through their dedication and hard work, these people will be able to not only create new buildings and infrastructure, but make them bigger, better, and greener.
To touch on just some of the things that AFH covers:
• Alleviating poverty and providing access to water, sanitation, power and essential services
• Bringing safe shelter to communities prone to disaster and displaced populations
• Rebuilding community and creating neutral spaces for dialogue in post-conflict areas
• Mitigating the effects of rapid urbanization in unplanned settlements
• Creating spaces to meet the needs of those with disabilities and other at-risk populations
• Reducing the footprint of the built environment and addressing climate change
As polluters continue to buy their way out of Carbon Cuts globally, and large organizations continue to dump their waste into lakes, ponds and rivers, communities and must play their role in ensuring sustainability. Organizations like the CGI, AFH, and USGBC provide repercussion and policy change for acts such as these. Most of the results from warming and climate change are miniscule and unnoticeable now, but our youth and earlier generations will experience firsthand the effects of pollutants and unsustainable efforts. Many of us are concerned about our furnace and air conditioner but there are dozens of smaller things you can pay attention to in your kitchen to live as green as you can. We want to reduce our carbon footprint and our ecological footprint.

To start reducing that footprint in your kitchen, think how you cook your food, the type of energy you use for your range, dishwasher and frig and for your oven.

Here are some ways you can reduce your cook print each time you prepare a meal.

* Shop locally. Look for locally grown produce at farmers markets, farm stands and food coops. You get fresher food, support your community and help reduce fuel waste and emissions from long-distance shipping.
* Microwave water for tea or use a hot water pot instead of turning on the stove.
* Use passive boiling whenever possible. This means not boiling pasta or potatoes as long as a recipe says. Boiled water takes a long time to cool. Turn off the burner soon after you hit a boil, put a lid on the pot, and the cooking will be done fuel-free.
* Grill it. Outdoor frills take less energy than your stove and heat out of your home in the summer.
* Use cooking lids that fit. Cooking food in an open pot or pan is wasteful because so much of the heat is lost.
* Save leftovers in glass containers rather than in plastic containers or bags.
* Consider purchasing a convection oven if you do not have one. Convection ovens cook 25 to 30 percent faster which means your meal is ready using less energy than a traditional oven.
* Try cooking with a slow cooker when possible. Sow cookers also use less energy than a traditional oven or a large burner on your stove.
* Run your dishwasher at midnight instead of during peak hours.
* Skip the garbage disposal and try composting instead.

Environmentalists are urging people to try to reduce the strain they put on the planet each time they prepare a meal. Most of the advice is about taking a different approach to cooking rather than trying something that is brand new. Some people end up finding the new approaches more convenient than their old way and adopt the news ones quickly. It is all about being mindful about your environment.

Ruthan Brodsky specializes in writing health and business articles. These are demarcated by the values of their average temperatures on a monthly basis, with each season lasting three months. The three warmest months are by definition summer, the three coldest months are winter, and the intervening gaps are spring and autumn. Spring, when defined in this manner, can start on different dates in different regions. In most of Northern Hemisphere locations, spring occurs during the months of March, April and May[1]. (Summer is June, July, August; Autumn is September, October, November; Winter is December, January, February.) The vast majority of Southern Hemisphere locations will have opposing seasons with spring in September, October and November.[2]

Astronomically, the vernal equinox (usually 20 March in the Northern Hemisphere, and 22 September in the Southern Hemisphere), should be the middle of spring (based on the angle of the sun and insolation) and the summer solstice (usually 21 June in the Northern Hemisphere and 21 December in the Southern Hemisphere) should be mid-summer (because the sun is at its highest) but daytime temperatures lag behind insolation by several weeks because the earth and sea have thermal latency and take time to warm up. Some cultures, such as those who devised the Celtic and East Asian calendars, call the spring equinox mid-spring, but others (especially in the USA and sometimes in England) regard it as the "first day of spring". For most temperate regions, signs of spring appear long before the middle of March, but the folklore of 21 March being the "first day of spring" persists, and 21 June as the "first day of summer" is common in the USA. In South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, spring begins on 1 September, and has no relation to the vernal equinox.[3]

In East Asian Solar term, spring begins on 4 February and ends on 5 May. Similarly, according to the Celtic tradition, which is based solely on daylight and the strength of the noon sun, spring begins in early February (near Imbolc or Candlemas) and continues until early May (Beltane).

The phenological definition of spring relates to indicators, the blossoming of a range of plant species, and the activities of animals, or the special smell of soil that has reached the temperature for micro flora to flourish. It therefore varies according to the climate and according to the specific weather of a particular year.
[edi
The Events of Spring from Wikipedia
In recent decades season creep has been observed, which means that many phenological signs of spring are occurring earlier in many regions by a couple of days per decade.

In spring, the axis of the Earth is increasing its tilt toward the Sun and the length of daylight rapidly increases for the relevant hemisphere. The hemisphere begins to warm significantly causing new plant growth to "spring forth," giving the season its name. Snow, if a normal part of winter, begins to melt, and streams swell with runoff. Frosts, if a normal part of winter, become less severe. Temperate climates have no snow and rare frosts, the air and ground temperature increases more rapidly. Many flowering plants bloom this time of year, in a long succession sometimes beginning even if snow is still on the ground, continuing into early summer. In normally snowless areas "spring" may begin as early as February (Northern Hemisphere) heralded by the blooming of deciduous magnolias, cherries, and quince, or August (Southern Hemisphere) in the same way. Subtropical and tropical areas have climates better described in terms of other seasons, e.g. dry or wet, or monsoonal, or cyclonic. Often the cultures have locally defined names for seasons which have little equivalence to the terms originating in Europe. Many temperate areas have a dry spring, and wet autumn (fall), which brings about flowering in this season more consistent with the need for water as well as warmth. Subarctic areas may not experience "spring" at all until May or even June, or December in the outer Antarctic.

While spring is a result of the warmth caused by the turning of the Earth's axis, the weather in many parts of the world is overlain by events which appear very erratic taken on a year-to-year basis. The rainfall in spring (or any season) follows trends more related to longer cycles or events created by ocean currents and ocean temperatures. A good and well-researched example being the El Niño effect and the Southern Oscillation Index.

Unstable weather may more often occur during spring, when warm air begins on occasions to invade from lower latitudes, while cold air is still pushing on occasions from the Polar Regions. Flooding is also most common in and near mountainous areas during this time of year because of snowmelt, accelerated by warm rains. In the United States, Tornado Alley is most active this time of year, especially since the Rocky Mountains prevent the surging hot and cold air masses from spreading eastward and instead force them into direct conflict. Besides tornadoes, supercell thunderstorms can also produce dangerously large hail and very high winds, for which a severe thunderstorm warning or tornado warning is usually issued. Even more so than in winter, the jet streams play an important role in unstable and severe weather in the springtime in the Northern Hemisphere.

Spring is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born. The term is also used more generally as a metaphor for the start of better times, as in the Prague Spring.

Spring in the Southern Hemisphere is different in several significant ways to that of the Northern Hemisphere. This is because: there is no land bridge between Southern Hemisphere countries and the Antarctic zone capable of bringing in cold air without the temperature-mitigating effects of extensive tracts of water; the vastly greater amount of ocean in the Southern Hemisphere at all latitudes; at this time in Earth's geologic history the Earth has an orbit which brings it in closer to the Southern Hemisphere for its warmer seasons; there is a circumpolar flow of air (the roaring 40s and 50s) uninterrupted by large land masses; no equivalent jet streams; and the peculiarities of the reversing ocean currents in the Pacific.

Let us help you with all the seasons at Oscars Products,LLC

Would you like an herb garden, vegetable garden or a flower garden? No matter of your choice typically the concepts are the same.

Organic gardening does not make use of any manmade fertilizers, nutrients or pesticides. Nature is your friend here because you will end up making use of a couple of points to make it all work, mainly sunshine as well as water. Regrettably these can never be made artificially, you must find the ideal place for it and supply appropriate discharge features.

Applying compost heap through leftover foodstuff, chipped bark, garden compost, leaf moulds together with manure. You are able to mix these all together then it distribute this all-around your own garden. Chickens are a good option; merely permit them to free to go walking through out your garden. Earthworms are great helpers in the garden because they help to bring out numerous nourishing substances from the garden soil by way of digging deep in so doing oxygenating it, which act as great water drainage also. Earthworms are also effective because they leave their poop throughout the garden, which are rich generators of nitrogen phosphorus and potassium.

Revolving your plants can be regarded as the best way to maintain the soil productive when you've got an organic garden. Continue rotating the type of vegetable/herbs you have harvested in one season with another after which come back to the first plant.

These organic gardening guidelines are pretty simple to adhere to and after practicing for a while, you're going to get a ongoing superior organic garden

Visit this site for more helpful information on Organic Gardening

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Brian_Angeli

Smart Solar Lights at Oscars Products,LLC

The four most important things we can do or choices we can make are:

o Reduce our consumption
o Make careful choices
o Use renewable resources
o Repair and re-use whenever possible
Start 2010 out right Go Green!

And each one of these choices we make or actions we take, contribute to conserving our planets resources. It is hoped that the items mentioned in this series of articles will help in reducing consumption of things like the packaged goods we buy to the energy we use.

We all have the freedom to make choices on the things we have control of and, our own home is the perfect place to start making these green living choices. There are two areas where our green living choices can really make a difference and they are energy efficiency and water conservation.

Think about it for a minute, when you turn on the water faucet, the water has to come from somewhere and it has to be treated before you can use it, then it has to be pumped to your location and then processed again if it becomes waste water. So, if we make the green living choice to conserve water, we save not only the water but the cost to treat, then to pump it, then to process the potential waste. This ultimately comes down to a savings on our utility bill. The choice is really easy, like taking a shorter shower or bath, watering the lawn a few less times, remembering to turn off the light when we leave a room, moving the thermostat up a few degrees in the summer and down a few degrees in the winter. It may sound a little silly, but by doing some of these things, we actually saw a reduction in our utility bill!

My wife and I plan to move to the Texas hill country when we retire and there try to practice what we preach. Our land is completely unimproved and provides the perfect blank canvas for us to practice on. We plan to drill our own well and power the pump with a solar panel and battery. Our septic system will divert Grey water (from baths, washing and kitchen sinks) to water the garden, fruit trees and lawn. Our gate opener will be solar powered. Our heat will be in the form of a wood burning stove. We intend to build a root cellar where all our home canned goods will be stored at a consistent 50 some odd degrees. Reducing consumption can really help. If we all did just a small part, that would be an immense savings for the planet.

Making careful choices will also help to send a message to those companies that do not subscribe to the green living way of life. If we examine each package of the items we purchase and find that the company is not "living green", we do not purchase from them. We can also let them know of our choice by way of e-mail or letter and also make them aware we plan to advise our friends and family of our choice and why. Do you think that will send a message?

Many businesses are doing just that. Adjusting the way they do business and produce products to appeal to a certain market share. For those that have not started to care about green living, it won't matter. But for those that do care, they will be in the right place to get their business. So, the choices we make are important. And they send a message to all those around us that one person or one family can make a difference by living green!

James Corbin is continuing his series of articles on Green Living. His latest interest however is repairing and restoring electric guitars. Come visit his latest website over at http://www.electric-guitar-parts.net/ which helps people find the best electric guitar parts and electric guitar bodies for their repair or restoration project.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_Corbin

Thinking of going green visit Oscars Products,LLC We can help!
