Google search tips and tricks # 1: How to find resumes

noreply@blogger.com (Raj) — Tue, 01 Jun 2010 20:25:00 +0000

Everyone knows Google is awesome now lets think a point, which makes this search engine extraordinary. Google search is flexible, easy and very effective to refine thousands of same websites and give you the most relevant results. In all these years of my blogging experience, the only thing I learnt is you can find anything in Google. Say it just free stuff, or paid stuff, hobbies, lifestyle, blogging, computer, technical, anything……. even resumes too.

In our next articles we will go in detail regarding the other tips and tricks for best search results. For now lets see, how recruiters can extract resumes from Google.

Searching resumes by filetype: and inurl:

Searching resumes by filetype, most of the people saves resumes basically in two formats over the internet either in word docs or PDF’s. So the search is restricted only to these types as of now.

Lets assume we are looking project manager resumes

Step 1: Go to Google and type filetype:doc ( specifying the file format to google to only search word docs).

Step 2: After filetype:doc, type inurl:resume ( filtering the search even more and asking google to only look for links which has resume in their urls)

Step 3: specifying the position title/ technical skill details will complete a search string, as we are looking for project manager, the search string would be like

filetype:doc inurl:resume project manager

If you search with this string in Google, you will find 4520 results online; all are word doc files with resume in url and project manager in the resume. Now if you even want to filter few more, quote project manager and check the results

filetype:doc inurl:resume “project manager”

So now we have 2190 results completely filtered word doc files with resume in url and project manager as a whole in the resume.

Now after you search is completed in word doc format, lets shift our search to pdf format resumes, keep the search as it is just changing the filetype:pdf

filetype:pdf inurl:resume project manager
we have around 11,200 results for the pdf formatted project manager resumes, now to filter your results even more, quote project manager in inverted commas and check the results.

filetype:pdf inurl:resume “project manager”

I know this is a simple but yet very effective technique to find resumes online. Try checking resumes for different position titles.

In the coming articles, we will see more tips and tricks on to enhance your search skills in google…keep reading

Four Points for Safe Weight Loss

noreply@blogger.com (Raj) — Wed, 26 May 2010 14:46:00 +0000

The very first thought people tend to go when they think of losing weight is reducing the intake food. This is of course a good solution but too much is too bad. Ignoring the regular diet and completely stopping the food will show adverse affects. Our body needs energy to carry metabolism it all depends on the food we take. So let us see various points which need to be consider when trying to lose weight:

No for Crash Diet courses
Sudden reduction of the calorie intake can be dangerous. Generally we would be aware of how much we need to carry our regular activities, calculate your diet on those lines. Just do not hurry up for some crash diet courses and start a complete different menu just overnight. Periodical assessment of our diet and a proper planning makes things easier. Decreasing calorie intake all of a sudden may affect the required levels. People think when they are complete no food style, body begins to digest the fats. Though this sounds good but this doesn’t happen everytime. To burn the fat in our body, we need have a lot of energy. Insufficient food intake may not have that energy levels all the time resulting the metabolism slow pace and giving effects of illness, weak immune systemAnother huge disadvantage is that once people complete the crash diet course and come to their regular eating habits tend to gain weight again. Losing weight is all about burning excess fat in the body areas, concentrate on how you can burn the excess fats.

Proper Food
Eating properly doesn’t mean to have heavy meals or full junk course. A proper meal contains all to some variety of food items, which provides all the vitamins, minerals, iron, fiber, etc required for the body. As we know, we go by taste so get a variety of items covering good taste as well as good nutritional value too. Try to avoid fried items as much as you can, enjoy fresh salads, boiled, roasted and steamed food items. Drinking water regularly is good.

Aerobics or physical activities
Aerobics are very helpful for weight control. Researchers all around the world prescribe the most efficient health way to control your weight is to have regular physical activity, combined with healthy eating habits. Physical activity in our regular lifestyle supports us losing weight or maintaining weight. Physical activity helps in burning those excess calories in our general food intake, which otherwise would be stored as fat. Physical activity doesn’t need to be only aerobics or exercises which heavy machines; it may be anything from lifting the things to walking. For example instead of using elevator for even 2nd floor building, take the steps.

Extra "Push"

After most of Advt. world suddenly stormed on different techniques of reducing weight. People buy lot of available market weight loss products; try using them to get that extra push and to get instant results. Perhaps some may be really helpful and successful but others who do not get results will even get discouraged and sometimes feel depressed out of the situation. Before buying these weight loss products, please make sure you do good research on the company and that product and definitely check with all your pals. Always check products side effects on the long run before using. Just do not risk your health for that just Extra push.

How to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

noreply@blogger.com (Raj) — Tue, 25 May 2010 20:18:00 +0000

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is easy than most of us think, all we need to do is accept few changes in our daily routine and food habits and we can feel the difference of a “ALL is WELL” note.

Habits are the first and foremost thing, which affects one’s lifestyle, health always, relies on our day to day basis regular activities. Taking food late, excessive alcohol consumption, excessive smoking, no regular diet, taking high fat content, no exercise, are some of the habits which show lot of impact to our health.

Lets see quick tips which can make the quick change..

1. Keep a regular track of diet you taking for a week and slowly change it. Say if are overweight and want to reduce weight, calculate the calories you taking for every diet for one week and as per the new calculation start a diet table for the next week with low calorie food and same with underweight.

2. Avoid eating food late, in the recent times our lifestyle has became so mechanical that often we tend to forgo our regular food for some work. Try to avoid this as much as possible, take food as per regular diet you maintain, this will decrease digestion problems and will parallely increases .
3. Excessive alcohol consumption or excessive smoking is not only injurious to health but also disturbs the social and health life. Once in a while may be ok but excessive of this habit kills your appetite at the same time disturbs your relations with your partners at times. Maintaining a balance between your habits and at the same time caring your relations with your loved ones is more important.

4. Regularly check your Blood pressure, weight, BMI to ensure you are following a good diet and keeping yourself healthy. Take fresh fruits and vegetables as and whenever possible. Fresh salads, fruit juices are better then fried foods and fancy drinks

5. Spare atleast 10-15 minutes of your time on regular exercises or a normal warm up or atleast on walking. Morning or evening walks does keep your mind fresh as well burn those extra calories you earn with some of the foods.

6. Do not overdose yourself with medicine for every small thing you feel. I have seen so many people going for meds especially over the counter for every small thing happening with them.

7. Last thing I would say is keep your mind healthy and peaceful. Try doing some yoga or meditation for sometime to keep your brain relaxed. If you are healthy at mind it would definitely make you feel much healthier and stronger physically too. Whenever you get time, take a break from your routine work and enjoy the nature, travel, etc

These are the few things which can be given a thought and which can make an impact on your lifestyle…be relaxed….eat good….maintain good habits and you are healthy.

Take care.....

Best fit first– The first improvement you can make in your style is by making sure that everything you wear fits you perfectly. Wearing clothes that are too large or too tight doesn’t look good. Selecting sizes as per your convenience and best fittings increase a good chance of style rhythm in your body.

Keep as simple as possible– You want a heavy Sherwani that looks great on you but you don’t want to overdo it with other accessories. For example, don’t wear other jewellery which makes your attire looks too heavy, do not try more than three pieces unless and until you want to dress like a rock star or you’re in a band. If you want to be flashy, simpler but stylish attire with a different hairstyle look would be sporting. You could also add a flashy watch or a simple accessory like an interesting necklace, but nothing more.

Supporting pieces - The first thumb rule is always prefer matching halves for your top and bottom. Wearing a tight dark color top will not go with again a tight dark color bottom. Contrast colors do generally have a good color combination. Try always supporting pieces with cool matching color shades. Try some other supporting pieces like scarf, metal necklace, hankies, caps which could add a bit style to your attire.

Shopping alone – Planning to go to shopping, take someone with you. Of course you can’t be the right judge always, you hardly see yourselves in mirror. It’s always others who see you all the time. Take your bunch of friends or your close friend with you and then start trying your choice combos

Good pair of shoes – People always watch you from head to toe, do not neglect shoes. Especially gals watch anything in particular, that’s your shoes especially how clean they are. It’s very easy to wash and press your clothes and to keep them new looking, but you generally tend to disregard your shoes. Maintaining a pair of shoes in pristine condition is must.

Avoid Big Logos– Going around with a big logo on your T-shirt will risk you looking like a walking billboard. Do not just go by brand names, always make sure it suits you, you like it and then you buy it rather than just becoming a sucker of brand names.

Always experiment with style – The only way you’ll really learn what goes best on you is start trying different combinations. Unless and until you try you will not try you will never know what goes best on you and how good you as a style icon.

Keep trying…………… Good Luck

2 Basic Rules – Make Money online

noreply@blogger.com (Raj) — Tue, 25 May 2010 18:29:00 +0000

The concept of money making online should be understood first. There are various ways as people say but before getting into more details, you should understand that there are only two things how you going to do this. Once you grab the basic concept, anyone will know how the internet is littered with people trying to do the same thing in different methods using different strategies.

Two core basics for making money are:
1. Sell your own products online
2. Sell other peoples products online

Sell your own products online: Selling of your products need not to be just expensive products or say some materialistic goods. It can be anything from a normal paper to something as big as house. It can be anything from a small picture from your camera to a complex code program. Your writing abilities, your survey knowledge, training online, etc. you need to understand what you can sell best, and what has demand online.

Sell others products online: Most of the people opt for selling other products. Selling the products may need fewer time compared to the selling our own products. This also need not to be an aggressive marketing technique, it just needs market analysis. Today internet consists of huge shopping giants like Ebay, homshop18, etc. You can always contact the seller and establish the relation with the buyer. Though the logic is not simple, but yet it yields good results on regular practicing.

Whatever technique you adapt, it doesn’t make much sense to quit your day job & try to do this full time without really knowing what you’re doing…..

Before you reach the full time status you should be in a position to develop your own products or ideas, many people do go down this route as its good to do ‘the middleman out’ . Again it is not very easy nor very tough it just needs time, patience and good marketing strategies to click online.

Over the next few posts, we will look into the various methods involved and revolving around these two basic techniques.
