The name of this blog comes from my middle name and the historical & biblical figure King Solomon.
This group is dedicated to conservatism, and I invite all conservatives to join, I really don’t mind
non-conservatives joining. All I expect is a respectful debate.
So tell everyone you know.

<atom10:link xmlns:atom10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" rel="hub" href="http://pubsubhubbub.appspot.com/" /><feedburner:emailServiceId>SolomonsConservativeWisdom</feedburner:emailServiceId><feedburner:feedburnerHostname>http://feedburner.google.com</feedburner:feedburnerHostname>

An Essay: Never Lie Too Me

An Essay: Never Lie Too Me

first the (mostly)  negative review, a little note the origional review was made privet by  senders choice so their identity shall not revealed (unless they wish to  come out by their own choice.) Also I have not changed any of their  writings below;

***********************************

While the writing itself was of good quality, I was very disappointed with the story itself, which was extremely unbelievable, and read like a fairytale for small children, where we have an inexperienced 16 year old boy somehow killing an enormous magical, fire breathing dragon, not to mention various other monsters. It seemed to actually insult the mainstream fantasy genre, in which drgons are extremely formidable, and NOT something a boy can kill the first time he picks up a sword. This is exactly the kind of "dragonslayer cliche" that was satired in the film "Shrek"
where instead of being slain by a hero like in nonsensical bedtime stories, the dragon defeats countless numbers of trained knights...... because as most any adult would know, this would be the logical outcome of such a one-sided battle, which is comparable to the absurdity of a mouse trying to kill a cat. It was hard to discern if this was intended to be a serious fantasy or an attempt at a comedic satire. The dragon's stereotypical villainous "mwa ha ha" laugh certainly made me
think the latter until I continued reading.

I had the impression that you have no understanding of real human and animal capabilities, or how toactually fight with swords, for if you had, you would have known a boy with no battle experience would not be able to fight such a creature, which, with the greater reach, fiery breath and sweeping tail would have every advantage.. Claiming this story was for and audience of "13 plus" seemed a contradiction, for few people over the age of ten would take the noton seriously
of a boy killing a giant magical dragon.

While a spelling check was used, there a a number of words which are not correct for the sentences. For example, "clime" instead of "climb", disparate, instead of desperate, etc.. There are also sentences that do not make sense that seem to have words left out of them.

The story seems to have a Judao Christian religious slant, with several Biblical placenames being used, and the boys' calling on "God" to help him avenge his family. But the boy's obsession for revenge is contradictory with the Christian doctrine of forgiving your enemies. Also the boy practices magic, which the Bible also denounces. I wonder if the author is also aware that the God of the Bible is described breathing fire from his mouth, smoke from his nostrils, has great
wings and claws, hoards gold, demands lambs and calves, and is given 32 virgins in the Book of Numbers. He seems to be as much a dragon as the one in your story!

Apparently dragonslayers in this story are referred to as "Dragoons". While this may be a term used in anime and video games, in the English dictionary, this is merely a term for a type of cavalryman also trained to fight on foot as infantry. The word originated in France because the original firearms they carried were called "dragons", but has nothing to do with killing dragons.

I doubt I would read any more of this story because it is so predictable and unbelievable. The hero has already killed the dragon once, without any experience whatsoever. Can there be any doubt that he is going to kill it again? There doesn't seem to be any twists or surprises in this story and the author has turned a 16 year old boy into an indestructable superhero.

One of the talents of a good fantasy writer is to make the reader believe his story could have really happened, but it is impossible for me to do so in this case. I think you have the potential to write a good story, but it is wasted on just another unbelievable dragonslayer cliche' . Now if the story took a different direction, like having the dragon and boy having to work toether for some reason, and the boy overcoming his hatred, and realizing he could never kill the dragon in the first place, then you have the potential to have a great story people would actually be interested in reading.

Good luck with your writing in any case.

***********************************

First I wish to apologize ahead of time to anyone who feels I might be to hard on the reviewer, but as someone who was bulled in school to the point I dropped out I have learned its far better to confront an issue or problem head on then to avoid it.

First I want to point out something, this line he wrote; “ I wonder if the author is also aware that the God of the Bible is described breathing fire from his mouth, smoke from his nostrils, has great wings and claws, hoards gold, demands lambs and calves, and is given 32 virgins in the Book of Numbers. He seems to be as much a dragon as the one in your story!”

I also Wonder if this author is aware HE JUST LIED! Never lie to me in a review especially when it is my holy book because I will check, and I will check the text surrounding it (as you will see below) and if you lie to me I will respond and in full force. I ran a blog for awhile and I always check everything I posted (at least to the facts issue) and what people said in response. When you lie about one thing I and others are free to take every thing you wrote and throw it OUT! The first red flag for me if he didn’t include the particular verses that would prove his point, I’ll give a great example.

By the way I want to apologize ahead of time if anyone doesn’t care to read about a debate on Christian doctrine, but if you fire on a battleship when you’re a frigate expect to be sunk!

Take this line for example “But the boy's obsession for revenge is contradictory with the Christian doctrine of forgiving your enemies.” my simple comeback is this Luke 22:35-37 35. And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37. For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was
reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. Wait what’s that? “and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” I am sure your head is spinning let me explain using a little recent history, I think the Holocaust will work. If someone is trying to kill you, you have the right of self defense. Its a little hard to forgive someone when you're dead.

When Christ was talking about the often off quoted live by the sword die by the sword here is the full passage in context, Matthew 26:51-54 by the way note verses 53 & 54. 51. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. 52. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53. Thinkest thou that
I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54. But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

Oh and as to the “Also the boy practices magic, which the Bible also denounces.” Have you heard the phrase “artistic license?” You think I didn’t already know that? By your standard I’m sure you think J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were hypocrites too. Particularly Tolkien who created an entire creation story for his stories.

Oh and on hypocrites I want to do it again, Matthew 7:1-5, 1. Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Also you seem to think I am writing the dragon as a pure magical creature. There is a phrase on assumption. If you wish to place the dragon as a god fine, but as the above states I am free to judge you at the same level. I just won't at least not on this point.

As to this “Apparently dragonslayers in this story are referred to as "Dragoons". While this may be a term used in anime and video games, in the English dictionary, this is merely a term for a type of cavalryman also trained to fight on foot as infantry. The word originated in France because the original firearms they carried were called "dragons", but has nothing to do with killing dragons.” My style is to develop a world and story that doesn’t necessitate the use of the historical context ours does. If you have a problem with that then just say so. The fact that I call the story “The Dragoons of Solomus” should tell you it doesn’t happen on Earth. And while we are on the subject of original meaning why didn't you look up Orochi? After all why would the dragoon in the beginning be called dragoon of Orochi, which is a legendary 8-headed and 8-tailed Japanese dragon. Wait could I possibly have something up my sleeve? Yes, yes I do.

Lastly I don’t mind the first to third, the sixth or part of the seventh paragraphs they are legitimate opinions and I respect that, just do not insult me and expect me not to respond. And just to be honest I don’t think you will ever find my stuff interesting because I am coming at my writings and worlds from one direction, while yours are from a totally different one, and that is not bad. But just as matter and antimatter can not meet with out destroying each other, it becomes an issue when you would seek to destroy the way I look at things. I will not review your stuff, because I have nothing positive to say other then your work is well done, but outside of that I come back to my first point you lied to me, and that I can not nor will I ever respect. I thank you for the kind words that you did give me, but you negated any help they may have had with point number one.

If any one wishes to comment on this please fell free to do so, I don't mind hearing what others think on this or my points. I will not attack anyone for having a different opinion.

And Merry Christmas to all, and my all progressives find coal waiting for them on Christmas Morning.
Solomon.

I have the ultimate fool proof argument to use against these socialists, Most (if not all) Small Businesses worth anything, have all of their capital tied up in land, merchandise, equipment, and/or investments, they don't have millions sitting in a bank account or in a mattress. So if a Small Business or Farm owner dies and their worth is $3 million if you tax at just 40% that means they have to come up with $1.2 million to pay the Imperial Federal government, and how do those grieving heirs pay the only way they can sell the business or farm. Now who can afford to buy a business or farm worth $3 million? One answer, the big corporations and very rich with the cash to do such a transaction, the very groups that these progressives claim to hate, they are the ones who push the small businesses or farms of America in to the hands of a few, usually their few.

And then we have The Weiner with this wonderful statement from earlier in the week, see video below,
Watch the latest video at <a href="http://video.foxnews.com">video.foxnews.com</a>

Where to start, where to start, well first Mr. Weiner THEY ARE NOT INHERITING CASH MONEY! Sorry for the caps but I really wanted to emphasize the point, Small Businesses and Farms that pass to the next generation don't have heaps of cash laying around, if they did Mr. Weiner might, might have an argument for people under fifty million of worth. I have also heard some compare inheritances to casino and lottery winnings, first that is just offensive as hell, as some who has lost a relative if you said that to my face you would be on the floor holding your nose, second that argument is another fallacious one it must assume that the inheritance is predestined for the person by the Fates, which then means in order to equal things out it is predestined again by the Fates that half of that wealth be taken as if some ancient Greek writer had wrote it.

Lastly I think Mr. Weiner has been watching and reading to many episodes of Richie Rich, but I find one of the last scenes from the Richie Rich film (1994) from a few years ago much more representative of the rich and wealthy here in America, when the villain finally gets into the Rich family vault he finds family trinkets and memory related items, when he demands an explanation, he finds the Rich family keeps their money in banks, the stock market, and real estate because they simply did not value money. That is the way most wealthy who do not let the love of money run them, men like George Soros though I believe would not, and does not under stand this, as do many on the left and progressives.

If Weiner represents the thought processes of the progressives and those on the left, if they keep speaking like this and we keep them out of the republican party the country will be in a better state in a few years.

Solomon.

P.S. Since many Progressives will say they do not have a love of money I will simply preempt them with this, then why is it that you always go after the income wealth and not the interest wealth, such as the kind earned by Soros, Gore, and many more on the left? Perhaps it is because you know that people who actually earn their wealth with businesses that provide a good or service will prominently lean towards freedom, capitalism, and individualism then what Progressiveism leans towards.

Well I have proof as House would say "Geraldo, your an Idiot!" I summit as proof of this a clip from Modern Marvels episode 11-60 Engineering Disasters 13, it was first aired on November 16, 2004. The clip I use has a different narrator but is almost word for word for the episode I have on DVD, (I played them simultaneously and their are only a few word differences, such as however instead of but.)

This I why I as an aspiring writer, even for fantasy related stuff, I do research on my own, in the interview no mention is give to the unusual nature of the building's construction and base the power station, and other related stuff isn't brought up. This should now be enshrined in the "Why you should do basic research a high school drop out could do and make you look like the biggest idiot since Custer" Hall of fame. The wost thing of this is now I am going to have to hear 9/11 Truthers say "Geraldo Rivera is one of us and believes in us", just once I wish people like Geraldo would think fourth dimensionally and think about the consequences of something to say. At this point Geraldo joins Rosie "It's the first time fire melted steel" O'Donnell in the kook file, oh and on the fire melting steel department, she should go watch or meet a blacksmith they do it everyday, just as a small example of warping steel.

Solomon the Wise

P.S. I now believe I have proof there is definitely a God, because at approximately 11:30pm 11/13/2010 I decide to watch something on DVD so I do a quick think of what I could watch, for some reason I decide to check out my Best of Modern Marvels set starting with the Engineering Disasters. And when I get to Disk 3 I look at the episode list and Engineering Disasters 13 catches my eye; Modern Marvels attempts to answer questions about why Patriot missiles failed to work, how 7 World Trade Center Building crumbled without being hit on September 11, the toxic waste-filled love Canal, and the Coconut Grove nightclub fire. How ironic that only an hour & half later I would find this on a whim.

Men and women died just because they were American (or worked in America) and went to work as usual. On this anniversary of a day of National Mourning for those who died for no good reason let us remember that evil never rests it is always watching, always trying to attack us, to attack good, like the never ending fight against pests in our homes we can never quit, we must be ever vigilant, ready to take action when evil rears its head. For evil is always watching waiting for you to give up, for you to stop watching, to turn off the lights.
In "War of the Worlds," it was germs. In "Signs," it was water. But lamest of all were the invaders in "ID4," who were beaten by spyware. Don't aliens know not to open email attachments from an unfamiliar senders? If you're going to take over a planet, make sure your Norton Anti-Virus is up to date." Please note that my response is written in what is called "in universe," where I will be treating the events as real for the sake of argument.

If this critic had bothered to do some critical thinking some of the answers to his own question are found in the film, first is the discovery, by the character played by Jeff Goldblum, of the aliens using our own satellites to coordinate their attack I will elaborate on that in a moment, second is the revelation that there was an alien craft in the possession of the government, not just any alien craft but the same kind as that of the invaders. Further it is reveled that the ships systems just started activating when the aliens entered in to our Solar System, suggesting that it was more then power that the ship was lacking but software.

Follow my logic here for a moment, first with the question, that wasn't answered in the film, of "why did the ship crash in the first place?" if you consider the way the aliens coordinated their attack and the fact that the crashed ship didn't work until the aliens were within a specific range it is feasible to argue that instead of the issue being one of power but one of software. The idea of sending that kind of information over the airwaves at such long distances might seem impossible at the moment but two hundred years ago the idea of flying with planes as we know it to day was impossible. This fits in with the filtering down effect the virus has in the film, disabling all alien ships shields.

Also to answer those critics, we can't keep sixteen year-olds from hacking into the Pentagon and other government systems, so how impossible is it for you to see the feasibility of that part of the plot. And hackers with their viruses, worms, and trojans keep evolving their tactics, that was why Goldblum's character went up, so that he could change the way it would enter the system if necessary. Lastly on the point of computer viruses and other malware counter measures are only good if they know how to counter it. Lastly one could muck up a system by simply inserting inert code that would stop the targeted program from running properly, basically crashing the program.

Another common complaint made by the critics is the heavily American point of view, this one is simpler to answer if we did have an alien invasion they are going to target the super powers and major nations first, as portrayed in the film, also if anyone would have a chance of fighting back against the invasion it would be the super powers with their technological advantage. And to bring in another science fiction series for an example the Doctor Who series with the government agency Torchwood, where they would take in alien technology examine it and reverse engineer it for their nations usage, this would only be possible for nations with the status of super power or a major nation.

Lastly the film Independence Day which is popular with most people, took $75 million to make and grossed $817 million, making ten times what it cost to make. This seems to follow an interesting pattern films that the critics sometimes pan ends up being successful with the common public such as the Street Fighter film from 1994.

"Listening to leaders like Nasser, Ben Bella, and Nkrumah awakened me to the dangers of racism. I realized racism isn't just a black and white problem. It's brought bloodbaths to about every nation on earth at one time or another."

"Brother, remember the time that white college girl came into the restaurant — the one who wanted to help the Black Muslims and the whites get together — and I told her there wasn't a ghost of a chance and she went away crying? Well, I've lived to regret that incident. In many parts of the African continent I saw white students helping black people. Something like this kills a lot of argument. I did many things as a Black Muslim that I'm sorry for now. I was a zombie then — like all Black Muslims — I was hypnotized, pointed in a certain direction and told to march. Well, I guess a man's entitled to make a fool of himself if he's ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years.

"That was a bad scene, brother. The sickness and madness of those days — I'm glad to be free of them."

So Tuesday July 6th the Federal Postal Service has announced it's asking for 2-cent rate increase to fight is financial crisis, as of 2009 the Federal Postal Service was three+ billion dollars in the red for that year and is still losing money. So their idea is to increase prices in a down economy, that is just about as brilliant as when customers were complaining about the long lines and wait times the Federal Postal Service removed all their clocks from the pick up areas, if the continue to complain will the next take their customers time pieces and any thing that could tell time? That would be really brilliant.

One of the biggest problems the Federal Postal Service has is that the Unions of the U.S. Postal Service, we have all seen it, the long lines with only one or two people to serve us, the other workers, if you can see them, are setting doing nothing ignoring the fact that they have a long line of customers. This is because of those unions creating rules that allow those workers to take long or multiple brakes.

Consider the Federal Postal Service's main competition, (only allowed by the good graces of the government), United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx, UPS's net income for 2009 was 2.15 billion dollars in the green and FedEx's net income for 2009 was 1.18 billion dollars. Yet the Federal Postal Service was 3.79 billion dollars in the red, that's more then the net income of both FedEx and UPS, the total revenue for these companies for 2009 were for the Federal Postal Service 68 billion dollars, UPS $45.3 billion, and FedEx $37.95 billion. The Postal Service should be able to make some kind of positive income, and yet it makes five billion dollars less in net income, why? Simple the Postal Service is run by bureaucrats and politicians not businessmen, run in government fashion they pay for things in a way the no business ever would, like paying five thousand dollars for a five dollar hammer you could get at Lowe's.

Also I want to compare the size of the workforce of the Federal Postal Service and it's competition, the Postal Service employs almost 596,000 people, UPS employs approximately 408,000 people and FedEx employs approximately 280,000, this information that is important for a simple reason, when UPS has only two thirds of the employees and makes two thirds of what the Federal Postal Service they manage to make two billion dollars in profit, and UPS has a more global operation when compared to the Postal Service.

As long as the Postal Service is run by bureaucrats and politicians and not businessmen it will continue to lose money just as Amtrak, which Joe Bidden loves, does. If the Postal Service was to be privatized and given the ability to get its house in order a rate increase might not be a problem, but as it stands now they want more of your money and give you less service, they also want to go after their major competition E-Mail with some kind of tax per E-Mail you send, or at lest that was an idea they had floated some time ago. Lastly I wanted to point out that the Federal Postal Service tries to compete with UPS by claiming they have a "greener delivery" then UPS, that one is a real winner Postal Service, especially when more Americans think Global Warming is a farce.

As to more important things, I thought I would mention the Jay Walking that people have been talking about, I have to say that's not news for someone how was in High-school when Bill Clinton was president and re-elected most of my peers thought he was cool, although my best friend liked Ross Perot. Also I have always liked Jay Leno and I don't know if any of you might remember it, but in one of his old Jay Walking's when he was in D.C. He was in front of the Lincoln Memorial and asked some one who was a teacher who that Memorial was for her response "You tell me." A wonderful example of why our government education is so bad.

I also want to post something on the revelations on the dropping of the charges on the New Black Panthers, it's just a political cartoon but it sums up the results.

Also I will post something about the postal rate increase in a few hours. I will also have something later on who I finally realize who Bill O'Reilly is reminding me of lately, hint it's a cartoon character.

"O Lord our Heavenly Father, high and mighty King of kings, and Lord of lords, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all the Kingdoms, Empires and Governments; look down in mercy, we beseech Thee, on these our American States, who have fled to Thee from the rod of the oppressor and thrown themselves on Thy gracious protection, desiring to be henceforth dependent only on Thee. To Thee have they appealed for the righteousness of their cause; to Thee do they now look up for that countenance and support, which Thou alone canst give. Take them, therefore, Heavenly Father, under Thy nurturing care; give them wisdom in Council and valor in the field; defeat the malicious designs of our cruel adversaries; convince them of the unrighteousness of their Cause and if they persist in their sanguinary purposes, of own unerring justice, sounding in their hearts, constrain them to drop the weapons of war from their unnerved hands in the day of battle!"

"Be Thou present, O God of wisdom, and direct the councils of this honorable assembly; enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation. That the scene of blood may be speedily closed; that order, harmony and peace may be effectually restored, and truth and justice, religion and piety, prevail and flourish amongst the people. Preserve the health of their bodies and vigor of their minds; shower down on them and the millions they here represent, such temporal blessings as Thou seest expedient for them in this world and crown them with everlasting glory in the world to come. All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Savior."

Amen.

Reverend Jacob Duché
Rector of Christ Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
September 7, 1774, 9 o’clock a.m."

Also I wanted to post this song, sung by Ray Stevens, "There's A star Spangled Banner", from the Ray Stevens album "At His Best" but I can't find it or post my copy here for a while.

So this one about John Wayne, titled "Marion Michael Morrison" also from the same album. Will have to do for now.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg of NYC has made comments recently (May 4-5th 2010) complaining about guns coming from other states to NYC, saying “ Let me close by saying: this is not about the Second Amendment. Our Founding Fathers did not write the Second Amendment to empower people who wanted to terrorize a free state; they wrote it to protect people who could defend ‘the security of a free state.’ Today, the security of our free state is being tested by terrorists." “I urge you to take common sense steps to strengthen law enforcement – including closing the terror gap – and to protect the American people from more attacks.”

Well sir you have criminals terrorizing you free citizenry and those citizens are forbidden by your progressive mind set from defending themselves with their God given right to defend themselves with the weapon of their choice. The best example of this is the Sullivan Act named after its chief legislative sponsor, notoriously corrupt state senator Timothy Sullivan, the act dates to 1911 and of course is still in force. The Sullivan Act requires licenses for New Yorkers to possess firearms small enough to be concealed, and you get these licenses from the local police of your area who have discretion to issue a concealed carry license. Now where this act gets controversial is in the fact it’s a May Issue act not a Shall Issue act. What does this mean? Simply put, even if you pass muster they can still refuse to issue a license to you. Look at the number of law-abiding citizens who have been able to get a license in NYC only about 30,000 private non-law enforcement licenses exist out of almost 8 million residents, but wait it gets even better of those 30,000 most are held by retired law enforcement, leaving close to 8,000 in the hands of citizens and taxpayers. And of those citizens and taxpayers the list reads as a list of the top of NYC people like Senator Charles Schumer, Don Imus, Harvey Keitel, Ronald Lauder, Howard Stern, Donald Trump, William F.Buckley Jr., Joan Rivers, and Robert DeNiro are just a short list of license holders past and present.

Mayor Bloomberg you talk about our Founding Fathers intentions, what they wanted was for people to have equal treatment not to have access to their God given rights by political favor, if you want to empower the people of NYC you will revise the Sullivan Act into a Shall Issue act that will force the police to issue these licenses to the law-abiding citizens of your fine city as common sense would dictate.

Otherwise you are just another one of the politicians who the people should through out, as Ray Stevens new song says “Throw the Bums Out!” the only thing your interested in is your own power.

To finish up, from what I have read about, of, and from the Founding Fathers I personally think they are fine when we want people with a criminal record (who hasn't been pardoned, cleared of the convection later, or had their rights reinstated) are restricted from getting a gun by background checks but not restricting law abiding citizens.

Also why do you progressives think that five thousand pages of laws are going to stop a thug from getting a gun or weapon if they have a long rap sheet they have already proven they don't obey the law, it's like throwing rabbits in a lion's den with five thousand pages of laws forbidding the lions from eating the rabbits and then blocking the entrance, all you do is stop the rabbits from escaping making it easier for the lions to have an easy meal. By the way you can trust me on this one as someone who keeps frogs and reptiles as pets when I put in their live food its like lambs to the slaughter.

Only in the human world you take the ability of the law abiding citizen from being armed against thugs which most often have proven they have no respect for the law, worse of all in big cities like New York and Chicago the Police are often several minutes away if they even get the call in time leaving the thugs plenty of time to do their evil deeds and get away. Progressives seem to live in an alternate universe where magic words printed on paper actually makes thugs follow the law and evil doesn't exist, but unfortunately we live in the real universe where evil exists and keeps coming back like a cockroach on steroids forcing us to be forever vigilant, ready to fight it when it returns.
First watch this clip from Tuesday June  29th's show then I will explain below, the point you want to see starts at 7:30;

Watch the latest news video at video.foxnews.com

Now while Glenn's "chart" isn't 1oo% accurate the bump he points to isn't ancient Babylon, Egypt, Persia, or Greece. It is ancient Rome the world's first real superpower.

Now I expect someone is going to come along and mention ancient China, I am not dismissing China, but China didn't have the republic, the essence of the free market, and had some other chaotic ideas that I won't go into right now. So back to Rome, from it's republic founding Rome had three main things that made it great, first the first republic in (known) human history and the rule of law over the mob mentality of the Greek democracies, which was to quote from a familiar source "building on a rock," second was the free exchange of ideas and a free market which encouraged trade and prosperity as well as the great Roman engineering marvels, third was the concept that developed later on of being a Roman wasn't about where you came from but what your culture was, in other words if you spoke the Roman language, acted like a Roman, and a few other things you were a Roman, there is more to that but you get the idea. (By the way, does that sound familiar?)

Now as Rome grew in size and power it its capital, Rome, grew as well and as that city's population grew the government, specifically the emperors, started feeding and entertaining the massive population, for FREE. As you can imagination that can be quite costly, it was the first welfare program in human history that I know of, and as you can guess as word of this spread more people came for the free goods. (Again, does that sound familiar?) Also early on one of the emperors tried something we also have tried, price controls, in 301AD Diocletian issued his "Edict on Maximum Prices" (that's the actual name by the way) attempted to curb inflation via price controls, it was unsuccessful, counterproductive, and quickly ignored, yet another progressive idea that was shot-down by reality and has been ignored by history. (See, The Problem with the Gold Standard.)

Two last points on Rome I want to make that is important and that is on it's borders and military, first as Rome grew weaker from many poor policies, many progressive, is grew lax on enforcing its borders, specifically with Germania, and as this lax policy was allowed to continue many barbarian tribes came into Roman lands, several would set up their own kingdoms in Roman borders and cause trouble. The best example of this comes from the Vandals who's name became synonymous with lawless destruction, setup a kingdom in North Africa, and are well known for their sacking of Rome.

Lastly was the Romans weakening military power as less Romans served in the Roman military they relied more on those from the Germanic tribes to pad their military numbers, these Auxiliaries learned the Roman tactics and how the Roman army fought. This was less a real policy decision then one born of a cultural lack of Roman citizens joining the Roman military. Either way, this allowed the barbarians to learn how to counter the Roman military with knowledge of their own tactics and how to get around them. Which lead to the collapse of the western half of Rome.

So in a nutshell Rome was the first superpower to be brought down by socialistic and progressive ideas.

Solomon.

P.S. I have some back post ideas I didn't get to this last weekend due to being too busy. I hope to get to them in between new posts.

Also for any interested, Diocletian retired four years (from 301AD after his "Edict on Maximum Prices") later from being emperor and died six years later in 311AD. Which also was the time period between when Nixon put in his price controls and his "retirement", though he died twenty years after his "retirement."

With Bill O'Reilly saying that he is “fine with” president Obama acting like a thug in chief to BP instead of someone who has been sworn to follow, obey, and enforce the law I thought I would do my own version of a familiar Christmas article, this one pointed to Bill O'Reilly and all those who are fine with the President of the United States acting like a dictator or thug towards a company who, yes, has made a mess, but it is not a reason to throw away something that isn’t broken.

Now for the feature.

Yes, Bill O'Reilly there is a slippery slope, and the first nation, at least in this example, to experience it was ironically, Us. Yes it was the United States of America who first felt what you might call a fictional thing called the slippery slope, those responsible, the progressives and the one who lead this was Woodrow Wilson who passed many a progressive law so much so that after he was out of office that the people overwhelmingly elected a man who said he would undo many of what Wilson fought to pass. Of course you are saying by that only proves there is no
slippery slope, but I haven’t finished. Next to continues greasing the slope and pushing us down it was F.D.R. a man who was elected four times and lead to the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, who originally campaigned as a conservative, during his term in office he passed many a progressive legislation which only made the depression in the US so “great.” Many of his ideas specifically the social programs have left us with a great debt that is unfunded to a tune of one hundred trillion.

Now for my ultimate proof of the slippery slope, a man by the name Adolf Hitler and the nation of Nazi Germany, in the name of “emergency” Hitler was able to not only push a nation down the slippery slope but to lead that nation to utter destruction. In the name of “emergency” Hitler demanded more power, and he got it, in the name of an “emergency” Hitler demanded that parents couldn’t home-school their children, and he got it (by the way that law is still in place,) in the name of an “emergency” Hitler demanded that the government control who could own a gun, and he got it, in the name of an “emergency” Hitler demanded that they regulate the undesirables, and he got it, the start of control of the people, media, and eugenics began, then in the name of an “emergency” Hitler demanded further regulation of the undesirables, this lead to the rounding up of the “evil Jew” into cattle cars and taken to the death camps like Auschwitz, Dachau and, Buchenwald, and the full horrors of what eugenics represent would be implemented.

So in finishing Mr. Bill O'Reilly, yes there is a slippery slope, and you must always watch your step because as Adolf Hitler showed you can make anything sound like a good idea if you make it an “emergency,” yes I know the Gulf is a mess, and BP should and will pay for it but for the love of God we should follow the rule of law, least we lose that which we love so much, our freedom, which our for fathers fought so hard to win.

Solomon.

P.S. By the way O'Reilly has blown the “little people” comment by the BP person way out of proportion. Incase Bill O'Reilly throws the “look at the poor oily pelican,” yes it is sad to see that poor bird in that shape, but the rule of law should not be thrown a way for emotion. Oh, and the idea that you O'Reilly approve of thuggish tactics, such as the baseball bat idea, disturbs me.

And on another thought I chose Buchenwald as an example death camps so I could tell you this historical fact, when General George S. Patton and his Third Army liberated Buchenwald concentration camp he was horrified at what they found, the local German citizens claimed that they didn't know what was going on, though a few admitted to knowing of the atrocities but insisted they had been powerless to stop it. He ordered American troops to round up the locals and march them through the camps. He wanted them to see the atrocities firsthand.

And O'Reilly has proven my belief that those with a little knowledge can be
dangerous when they use it in the wrong way. My first article is proof.

My first article was a response to Bill O'Reilly’s Vlad the Assailer from August 14, 2008, O'Reilly comparing the historical Vlad Tepes the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Vladimir Putin of today’s Russia, O'Reilly making his usual jump of conclusion used limited knowledge of Vlad Tepes to say and I quote
“. . . Romanian ruler named Vlad Tepes who, in the 15th century, committed incredible atrocities like impaling thousands of captured people on
felled trees. Nice guy. For this, Tepes was called Vlad the Impaler.” But O'Reilly failed to dig deeper, Vlad Tepes had a problem we currently have today, an Islamic invasion who wanted to conquer Tepes country Wallachia and then move on to the rest of Europe. He also had a problem with the boyars (Romanian Nobles) who had a habit of betraying and undermining their country to enemies if that said enemy would leave them alone, oh and lest I forget a bout the Germans who had a habit of raiding Wallachia and taking slaves of its people. I should note that a lot of
the information regarding Tepes’s “evilness” was from those who were his and Wallachia’s enemies, in a way it would be like letting Nazis teach the history of the Jews, it wouldn’t make any sense to those of us who know what they did.

Now not that I want to be defending Tepes’s habit of staking people, but who exactly was he supposed to go to for help, Tepes’s lived from 1431-1476, no UN or League of Nations to help, not that either of those groups ever proved to be useful. Also he as the leader of a small nation about the size of New Jersey was facing an enemy who believed they were on a mission from God with an army close to one hundred thousand. Vlad Tepes was doing what he had to do to save his country and people, which by the way he put the freemen and peasants in to positions
that had originally only been held by the boyars.

Now again O'Reilly has shown that he is short sighted when it comes to history and historical facts. First a few weeks ago he tells Glenn Beck he doesn’t care what Woodrow Wilson did or about his progressive policies (please read here for more on Wilson) and now he doesn’t care that Obama has acted like a thug to BP instead of following the law saying “I’m fine with that,” well I am not, This is a republic not a Thugocracy run by the head thug.

In case you missed it Mr. O'Reilly a republic is not a democracy, a common mistake, some of the Greek city states were democracies such as Athens, those democracies though were run in a way we would find chaotic it was more of a mob rule. The classic example of this was the case of Socrates where he was found guilty of corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens and sentenced to death by drinking a mixture containing poison hemlock Why? Because he called those in positions of leadership and thought of as wise men as fools and foolish because they thought that
they were wiser then the people (sound familiar.) There are more examples I can use, one favorite is a George W. Bush comparison, that leader lead the Greeks against the Persians and at the end they exiled him, ironically he lived the rest of his life in exile in the nation he fought against, Persia.

Now it was the Romans who brought us the first republic, instead of the people voting on every action, they would vote for representatives who would make these decisions instead, and within this republic there would be many districts. As many familiar with Rome know these representatives were the Senators of Rome. While democracies were chaotic and small, Rome proved that a republic could not just grow but thrive as Rome’s borders expanded out the number of senators were added. As a Republic we have much more in common with Rome then the Greeks, while many we became one, Americans, just as with Rome, it didn’t mater where you cam from if you became a Roman you were a Roman.

As some one who has studied Roman history and American the parallels can be startling Rome was started as a place for new beginnings and chances, America has the same, people coming to a new land to start new and away from the problems of the old world. Now we have the Progressives who are trying to bring back the darker ways and people like Mr. O'Reilly a “History Teacher” who could care less about history and are more interested in the “moment.”

Solomon.

P.S. to O'Reilly if he should read this, in case you are going to say you like the Greeks, I have one response, did you know that the ancient Greeks were pro man-boy love, and yes that means what you think. Many businesses are apparently doing this, posting boldly things like "unemployed candidates will not be considered" or "must be currently employed," now while I don’t want the government in privet businesses affairs I want to say something to them.

First I know you are getting flooded with people, most unemployed, applying for job openings you have, but what the hell are you thinking! Are you trying to help the Progressives! Right now the dems, liberals, progressives, and every one else is focused on the oil spill, but the minute there is a calm in the storm they will focus on you. Think about it when it comes to the top thing Americans want the politicians to focus on is the economy, and the top one of that is jobs. If the left gets started on this, they will have a field day with it, they will run you down and then they will want to pass legislation to forbid the discrimination of unemployed Americans, then the John Edwards lawyers will show up and the federal regulators wanting to stand over your
shoulders when you work on the job applications, the interviews, and when you make your decision on who to hire. If you think the costs of running a business in America are expensive, just wait till the Progressives get on your case for this. Just think about it if some of the ten plus percent (probably closer to fifteen plus) of the unemployed get a John Edwards lawyer and sues, especially if legislation is passed, the costs of running your business will go through the roof.

In fact at this point where people will sue at the drop of a hat, I wouldn’t be suppressed if we hear about some one suing because they believe they weren’t hired because they are unemployed by the end of this or next month.

As someone who is unemployed I now have to wonder if the reason I don’t get any replies to my many applications is because you want to be the Democrat Party’s symbol’s rear-end, and not consider those who are unemployed. As I said before I know you are getting flooded with people applying for job openings, but that is the way things are, do you think when some one hung a “help wanted” sign during the depression they didn’t have people lining up around the block for that job.

Now I know some one will show up and say, "See, see, businesses are against the little guy, you should become a liberal, democrat, or progressive," really? The problem with that is businesses are not against the little guy they are not like the European Elite who thought the peasants knew nothing, all businesses try to serve their customers to the best of there abilities, to give one hundred ten percent, because if they give bad service they won't be around very long. They live on the good graces of their clientele and if they should offend that clientele they can't survive. If anything businesses serve the peasants and in capitalism there is always someone else competing to take your place.

Now I am not for the government coming in to save the day, all they will do is make it worse, a business should for the most part have full power to decide who it will hire and fire, but those same business should look to the past and see who built this country. The men who from humble origins changed the world in a span less then a hundred years, these business if they start acting like the European Elite of old they will find themselves overtaken by a younger group of businesses who won’t hesitate at looking at all potential candidates.

This in some way is a good reason why we should let those to “big to fail” fail, they develop into a slow moving creature that eats everything else up leaving nothing else for others, they lumber around clumsily wasting resources, when these creatures are supported by the politicians this is what we get a stagnant economy where the resources go to feed these obsolete beasts while the people starve.

To finish with, any business who is thinking about doing this you should just drop the idea now the conservatives are trying to get this country back to the way it is supposed to be, free. We don’t need you to help the Progressives by giving them something they might be able to rally with.
Bill O'Reilly talking points 6/7/2010,
Watch the latest news video at &lt;a href="http://video.foxnews.com/"&gt;video.foxnews.com&lt;/a&gt;

Well I have another response to O'Reilly.

Well, I think Bill O'Reilly has forgotten the refinancing boom of the 2000s, when people were told to take money out of their homes by refinancing, the theory was that you could get extra cash by taking the available equity out of your home by extending the years on your payments. It sounds like a good idea, but it can cost you a lot more, you extend your mortgage obligation for more years, draining the equity out of your home, and as recent financial crisis has shown housing prices are not guaranteed to increase, this also can count toward businesses and business properties.

Think about it if the dinner owner was to get a loan and the market and economy keeps going south and he couldn't pay it you can expect O'Reilly would go after that bank.

The problem is when property prices drop continually as they have over the past few years, one could find themselves owing more money on that new loan than your property is even worth, especially a business in a bad economy. There is nothing worse than paying a mortgage on a property or business that you are upside-down in. Which would more then likely have Obama and progressives leading a charge for another bailout.

Solomon.

P.S. I know that this was a week late but rethinking about the housing crisis brought this about.

This was by the order and on the instructions of a federal judge and the U.S. Department of Justice as part of a new election system crafted to help boost Hispanic representation. This is the progressives most disturbing move yet.

The basis for this cumulative voting election was the fact that Port Chester with approximately 30,000 residents is nearly half Hispanic, and no Latino had ever been elected to any of the six trustee seats. Which until now were chosen in a conventional at-large election. Most voters were white, and white candidates always won. Federal Judge Stephen Robinson said that violated the Voting Rights Act, excuse me, and my language, but how the hell does that violate the Voting Rights Act if they didn't vote its their problem. the progressives have changed the rules now with this action they can declare that an area with a high minority population and no minorities in sets for those areas that can do this, a system called cumulative voting, in which residents get six votes each to apportion as they wish among the candidates, the judge also ordered Port Chester to implement in-person early voting, allowing residents to show up on any of five days to cast ballots.

The fact some find it disturbing, but still voted six times disturbs me, further there were voters who praised cumulative voting. Even more disturbing is what one of the lawyers for the lawsuit said "That the goal was not merely to encourage more Hispanics to vote but to create a system whereby the Hispanic community would be able to nominate and elect a candidate of their choice." This is a gross violation of what the Republic was founded on.

Considering the implications of the census and the illegal population this only makes this gross violation potentially far more dangerous a tool for the progressives and the Obama Administration, and the fact that this hasn't gotten more coverage scares me.

Update 2:15 6/16/2010

Apparently the most of the hispanic population of Port Chester is either too young or they are not U.S. Citizens making this more then a gross violation of our Constitution and Republic but a usurpation. Worse hispanic groups are cheering this as the way to go for future elections, you can be sure La Raza will diffenitly try this in their attempt to steal back the Southwest.
