EPF e-Passbook - Online Employee Provident Fund Balance

Greetings ! Now EPF account holders can check Employee provident fund balance online using the new e-passbook service by EPFO website. They has introduced a new concept called “EPF Account Passbook” , which allows EPF Account holders to download their EPF Balance passbook at any time e.g. you can now do EPF balance enquiry each month and see how its increasing.

Follow simple steps to register and enjoy the facility:

Register on the site with your name, mobile, DOB and document (e.g. PAN) information
Generate PIN and confirm it (received on registered mobile)
Login with registered Document number and mobile (no username & password)
Download EPF Passbook after entering your PF Account number

Few points to remember:

One mobile number per registration, though multiple PF accounts
One Account per establishment e.g. 2 accounts possible for Delhi & Karnataka but both are not possible under Delhi
Maximum 10 accounts can be viewed
Inactive Account details not available
Multiple Id can be created with as many Documents you register e.g. each with PAN & Driving License

SBI offers lower rates to Old Home Loan Borrowers

State Bank of India's old home loan borrowers have a reason to rejoice. The bank has decided to allow these borrowers to switch over to the new floating rates that are lower, said a bank official.

Borrowers who have taken loans linked to SBAR (State Bank Advance Rate or the prime lending rate) are paying as much as 2-3 percentage points more than existing floating rates that are linked to the Base Rate.

This is because the Base Rate is lower than the SBAR. SBI's Base Rate is currently at 10 per cent, while the SBAR is 14.75 per cent. Besides, the bank has also reduced the spread it charges over the Base Rate for home loans. Because of this, new home loan rates have moved southwards, said the official.

There is no restriction on the tenure or the amount of the loan for customers to switch over. The bank is charging a fee of 1 per cent of the outstanding amount to switch to the new rate

The current floating rates are:

10.5 per cent for loans up to Rs 30 lakh,
10.75 per cent for loans between Rs 30 and 75 lakh, and
11 per cent for loans above Rs 75 lakh.

Those borrowers who took a home loan even a year ago are paying higher rates. In some cases, the difference is as high as 3 percentage points. So, in the interest of fair practices and transparency, we are offering the current floating rates to all our customers. On an average, the benefit to old customers could work out to be more than 1 percentage point.

For switching over, the only condition is that the customer should not be a defaulter. If so, then he or she can pay the default amount and switch.

Customers have been enquiring about shifting loans to other lenders given the higher rates, and this is one reason why SBI came up with such an offer, the official said.

Bajaj Allianz charges heavily even after serving minimum period

Beware of any ULIP plans, especially from Bajaj Allianz. You will feel cheated when you will be in need of money, and want to get money from them.

While purchasing the policy their agents tell that you can withdraw the money after 3 years of premium. But the thing they don't tell is that you can't withdraw your own money even after that (minimum 20 years!). You should have been read your 60 pages documents to verify, and to catch their agents lies.

Lets take a scenario of Bajaj Allianz ULIP as follow:

15,000/- is the premium for a year
3 years is the Minimum number of years you have to pay
60,000/- you paid for 4 years (minimum period served)
Say as per 9.0 pa interest (FD rates), you would have earned 22,000/- interest without any risk.
Total Investment : 82000/-

Now let see what they got,

-10,000 maintenance charges for 4 years
-8,000 for surrender charges (they never tell you about that)
-22,000 As market neither did good nor bad (only Bajaj Allianz got money, not you)
YOUR TOTAL LOSS = Bajaj Allianz Profit = 40,000/-

Lets say market doesn't change much (went up and down in 4 years). What you got:

60,000 you paid, and as per interest of 9 pa, this amount should have around 82,000 by now.
They have taken 18,000 from you (off course they have to pay their employee salary from your pocket)
You get 60,000 - 18,000 = 42,000/-

How much You Lost :

82000 - 42000 = 40,000/- (50% of your money)

I've invested and studied many ULIPs plan, and suggest you not to invest in any ( and never in Bajaj Allianz).

Before starting investigation or initiating prosecution in any case, they have to take permission from the same bosses, against whom the case has to be investigated.	Lokpal at centre and Lokayukta at state level will be independent bodies. ACB and CBI will be merged into these bodies. They will have power to initiate investigations and prosecution against any officer or politician without needing anyoneⳠpermission. Investigation should be completed within 1 year and trial to get over in next 1 year. Within two years, the corrupt should go to jail.
No corrupt officer is dismissed from the job because Central Vigilance Commission, which is supposed to dismiss corrupt officers, is only an advisory body. Whenever it advises government to dismiss any senior corrupt officer, its advice is never implemented.	Lokpal and Lokayukta will have complete powers to order dismissal of a corrupt officer. CVC and all departmental vigilance will be merged into Lokpal and state vigilance will be merged into Lokayukta.
No action is taken against corrupt judges because permission is required from the Chief Justice of India to even register an FIR against corrupt judges.	Lokpal & Lokayukta shall have powers to investigate and prosecute any judge without needing anyone permission.
Nowhere to go - People expose corruption but no action is taken on their complaints.	Lokpal & Lokayukta will have to enquire into and hear every complaint.
There is so much corruption within CBI and vigilance departments. Their functioning is so secret that it encourages corruption within these agencies.	All investigations in Lokpal & Lokayukta shall be transparent. After completion of investigation, all case records shall be open to public. Complaint against any staff of Lokpal & Lokayukta shall be enquired and punishment announced within two months.
Weak and corrupt people are appointed as heads of anti-corruption agencies.	Politicians will have absolutely no say in selections of Chairperson and members of Lokpal & Lokayukta. Selections will take place through a transparent and public participatory process.
Citizens face harassment in government offices. Sometimes they are forced to pay bribes. One can only complaint to senior officers. No action is taken on complaints because senior officers also get their cut.	Lokpal & Lokayukta will get public grievances resolved in time bound manner, impose a penalty of Rs 250 per day of delay to be deducted from the salary of guilty officer and award that amount as compensation to the aggrieved citizen.
Nothing in law to recover ill gotten wealth. A corrupt person can come out of jail and enjoy that money.	Loss caused to the government due to corruption will be recovered from all accused.
Small punishment for corruption- Punishment for corruption is minimum 6 months and maximum 7 years.	Enhanced punishment - The punishment would be minimum 5 years and maximum of life imprisonment.

Common Myths about IT People

After lots of meet ups with non-IT friends, relatives, strangers etc, you will notice that the moment you say that you are an IT guy, they have already made some assumptions about you.

Myth #1:

If you haven't been onsite ...u are a loser

Uncle: "Tum 3 saal se IT company mein kaam kar rahe ho na?"

Me: "Haan uncle ......bas ....."

Uncle: "Tum videsh nahi gaye?"

Me: "Nahi uncle project mein requirement nahi hai onsite kaa"

Uncle: "Lekin woh deepak ko toh maanna padegaa.... vo chote sheher se hai.....bade college se nahi hai ...fir bhi usne jamke mehnat ki aur usse company ne USA bheja!"

Aaaha! That’s the problem. People think that the smarty pants are sent on site while the loser ones are the people left behind in India. So the assumption is that if you haven't been on site then you don't work hard nor you have any sincerity and... ok that's enough for now.

Myth #2:

If you are not in the biggies... u are a loser

Auntyji : "Beta, kaunsa company?"......"Kabhi suna nahi"....."Kaha hai ye?"

Aunty: "Tumko Infosys mein nahi mila kya?" (in short: "tum second grade gadha lagte ho")

Then I have to make efforts to tell them how I actually work in a much niche technology.

In case the opposite person is technologically sane then I give him some product development 'funda' (arrogance).

Myth #3:

"You can fix any computer…and calculator and may be clocks too"

Most of the computer engineers around must have at least once gone to a friend's place only to fix his / her comp.

The task can be from installing a software (next..next.. finish) to fixing a computer which gives electric shocks when its metal areas are touched.

Myth #4:

"You have lots of money"

Once I met up with my friends from school ...from various fields. I just mentioned that it is such a pain to go to office nowadays and said that I wanted to buy a car.

Friend1: "what problem do u have man .. u are an IT waala"

Friend2: "Tu toh Honda CRV le saktaa hai"

Me: "CRV!! aabey CRV kyaa mere pass VCR lene ka paisa nahi hai"

Even after 5 minutes of convincing them weren't getting convinced.

Myth #5:

"Coding means sitting in front of the computer"

During my college days , my classmate had an encounter with a guy from mechanical dept:

Mech guy: "Your Computer engineering is a big nautanki.... four years You learn the same grey dabba... and all you ppl do is sit nicely in front Of that dabba and punch the keys"

Myth #6:

One more thing which oldies say : "Now you work in such a big company , you are settled , you should marry now !! " OMG this salary is not enough for one poor soul.. how to handle two ???

Myth #7:

In Diwali...u get questions like......"Are you gonna get a bonus this Diwali.....??" And when we reply in the negative.....they seem so surprised...!!!!!!!

Myth #8:

A common issue that I have seen:

When I tell anybody that I work with Infosys company , many times I get a reply "My son/daughter/relative Mr/Ms XXX also works in Infosys. You must be knowing him/her" and if I answer in the negative, they feel disappointed (they think.....may b nobody wants to know me).

How to explain to them that there are around thousands of employees in my company, and I cannot know everybody in my ODC, forget about knowing everybody in the company. L LoLzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

1. सादा जीवन, उच्च विचार: उसके जीने का ढंग बड़ा सरल था. पुराने और मैले कपड़े, बढ़ी हुई दाढ़ी, महीनों से जंग खाते दांत और पहाड़ों पर खानाबदोश जीवन. जैसे मध्यकालीन भारत का फकीर हो. जीवन में अपने लक्ष्य की ओर इतना समर्पित कि ऐशो-आराम और विलासिता के लिए एक पल की भी फुर्सत नहीं. और विचारों में उत्कृष्टता के क्या कहने! 'जो डर गया, सो मर गया' जैसे संवादों से उसने जीवन की क्षणभंगुरता पर प्रकाश डाला था.

२. दयालु प्रवृत्ति: ठाकुर ने उसे अपने हाथों से पकड़ा था. इसलिए उसने ठाकुर के सिर्फ हाथों को सज़ा दी. अगर वो चाहता तो गर्दन भी काट सकता था. पर उसके ममतापूर्ण और करुणामय ह्रदय ने उसे ऐसा करने से रोक दिया.

3. नृत्य-संगीत का शौकीन: 'महबूबा ओये महबूबा' गीत के समय उसके कलाकार ह्रदय का परिचय मिलता है. अन्य डाकुओं की तरह उसका ह्रदय शुष्क नहीं था. वह जीवन में नृत्य-संगीत एवंकला के महत्त्व को समझता था. बसन्ती को पकड़ने के बाद उसके मन का नृत्यप्रेमी फिर से जाग उठा था. उसने बसन्ती के अन्दर छुपी नर्तकी को एक पल में पहचान लिया था. गौरतलब यह कि कला के प्रति अपने प्रेम को अभिव्यक्त करने का वह कोई अवसर नहीं छोड़ता था.

4. अनुशासनप्रिय नायक: जब कालिया और उसके दोस्त अपने प्रोजेक्ट से नाकाम होकर लौटे तो उसने कतई ढीलाई नहीं बरती. अनुशासन के प्रति अपने अगाध समर्पण को दर्शाते हुए उसने उन्हें तुरंत सज़ा दी.

5. हास्य-रस का प्रेमी: उसमें गज़ब का सेन्स ऑफ ह्यूमर था. कालिया और उसके दो दोस्तों को मारने से पहले उसने उन तीनों को खूब हंसाया था. ताकि वो हंसते-हंसते दुनिया को अलविदा कह सकें. वह आधुनिक यु का 'लाफिंग बुद्धा' था.

6. नारी के प्रति सम्मान: बसन्ती जैसी सुन्दर नारी का अपहरण करने के बाद उसने उससे एक नृत्य का निवेदन किया. आज-कल का खलनायक होता तो शायद कुछ और करता.

7. भिक्षुक जीवन: उसने हिन्दू धर्म और महात्मा बुद्ध द्वारा दिखाए गए भिक्षुक जीवन के रास्ते को अपनाया था. रामपुर और अन्य गाँवों से उसे जो भी सूखा-कच्चा अनाज मिलता था, वो उसी से अपनी गुजर-बसर करता था. सोना, चांदी,बिरयानी या चिकन मलाई टिक्का की उसने कभी इच्छा ज़ाहिर नहीं की.

8. सामाजिक कार्य: डकैती के पेशे के अलावा वो छोटे बच्चों को सुलाने का भी काम करता था. सैकड़ों माताएं उसका नाम लेती थीं ताकि बच्चे बिना कलह किए सो जाएं. सरकार ने उसपर 50,000 रुपयों का इनाम घोषित कर रखा था. उस युग में 'कौन बनेगा करोड़पति' ना होने के बावजूद लोगों को रातों-रात अमीर बनाने का गब्बर का यह सच्चा प्रयास था.

9. महानायकों का निर्माता: अगर गब्बर नहीं होता तो जय और व??रू जैसे लुच्चे-लफंगे छोटी-मोटी चोरियां करते हुए स्वर्ग सिधार जाते. पर यह गब्बर के व्यक्तित्व का प्रताप था कि उन लफंगों में भी महानायक बनने की क्षमता जागी.

280 लाख करोड़ का सवाल है .....

भारतीय गरीब है लेकिन भारत देश कभी गरीब नहीं रहा"* ये कहना है स्विस बैंक के डाइरेक्टर का. स्विस बैंक के डाइरेक्टर ने यह भी कहा है कि भारत का लगभग 280 लाख करोड़ रुपये (280 ,00 ,000 ,000 ,000) उनके स्विस बैंक में जमा है. ये रकम इतनी है कि भारत का आने वाले 30 सालों का बजट बिना टैक्स के बनाया जा सकता है.

या यूँ कहें कि 60 करोड़ रोजगार के अवसर दिए जा सकते है. या यूँ भी कह सकते है कि भारत के किसी भी गाँव से दिल्ली तक 4 लेन रोड बनाया जा सकता है. ऐसा भी कह सकते है कि 500 से ज्यादा सामाजिक प्रोजेक्ट पूर्ण किये जा सकते है. ये रकम इतनी ज्यादा है कि अगर हर भारतीय को 2000 रुपये हर महीने भी दिए जाये तो 60 साल तक ख़त्म ना हो. यानी भारत को किसी वर्ल्ड बैंक से लोन लेने कि कोई जरुरत
नहीं है. जरा सोचिये ... हमारे भ्रष्ट राजनेताओं और नोकरशाहों ने कैसे देश को लूटा है और ये लूट का सिलसिला अभी तक 2011 तक जारी है. इस सिलसिले को अब रोकना बहुत ज्यादा जरूरी हो गया है.

अंग्रेजो ने हमारे भारत पर करीब 200 सालो तक राज करके करीब 1 लाख करोड़ रुपये लूटा. मगर आजादी के केवल 64 सालों में हमारे भ्रस्टाचार ने 280 लाख करोड़ लूटा है. एक तरफ 200 साल में 1 लाख करोड़ है और दूसरी तरफ केवल 64 सालों में 280 लाख करोड़ है. यानि हर साल लगभग 4.37 लाख करोड़, या हर महीने करीब 36 हजार करोड़ भारतीय मुद्रा स्विस बैंक में इन भ्रष्ट लोगों द्वारा जमा करवाई गई है. भारत को किसी वर्ल्ड बैंक के लोन की कोई दरकार नहीं है. सोचो की कितना पैसा हमारे भ्रष्ट राजनेताओं और उच्च अधिकारीयों ने ब्लाक करके रखा हुआ है. हमे भ्रस्ट राजनेताओं और भ्रष्ट अधिकारीयों के खिलाफ जाने का पूर्ण अधिकार है. हाल ही में हुवे घोटालों का आप सभी को पता ही है - CWG घोटाला, २ जी स्पेक्ट्रुम घोटाला , आदर्श होउसिंग घोटाला ... और ना जाने कौन कौन से घोटाले अभी उजागर होने वाले है ........

What is Mobile Number Portability (MNP)?
Mobile number portability (MNP) enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network operator to another. E.g. If you are using Airtel, you can switch to some other network like Vodafone at very nominal cost.

Why to use MNP?
If you are getting better calling schemes with other telephone providers, you may be interested in switching your provider.

When and cost?
The date decided is 20th Jan 2011 for fee of 19 INR only. You may need some documents and forms need to be submitted.
