I firmly recommend you Sean Nicholas Savage and do not miss Mulatu Askate -ain’t in my tracklist but it’s a classic, you’ll regret missing it-. Under the name of “Gal Gracen” there’s Patrick Geraghty, a vancouverite with so many concerns that has been writing really wordy garage songs for a while under the name “Role Mach“. But he wanted to make his music more casual & quick paced, less arty and more fun more quick paced so he started Gal Gracen.
We highly recommend “Blue Hearts In Exile” -his first EP- where he plays by himself, although when he plays live he’s joined by two tremendous musicians -Adrian Teacher (from “Apollo Ghosts“) and Jay Arner (from “Fine Mist“)- who make the songs danceable and spontaneous. Hopefully during the summer is gonna come out with a new album that we’ll be waiting patiently.

As he defines he’s music as “nihilistic romance music or maybe…apathetic romance songs that sound sincere and heartfelt but actually are kind of uncaring and cold”, we can assure that the sound of his songs is very characteristic and is got a dreamy quality that take us to some past? memories.
“I love film more than anything but it takes too much time and dedication, its too slow. So I prefer to watch movies and make music that is inspired by them”.
This mix has songs from soundtracks of films such “Diva”, “Night On The Galactic Railroad”, “Murphy’s Law” or “Karate Kid 2″. We hope you all enjoy it as we did.

With the same ‘aka’ as Louis XIV, Sun King is the solo dark country project of a young upstate new yorker. Sun King’s music is slow and thoughtful. It’s not music about faith or holy books, though it may sound like that at times. We have the Primavera Club around the corner, so we’ve invited few of the bands that are coming to make our Velvet Guest’s. The first of these Mixtapes is made by Tony Dekker, the singer-songwriter of the Canadian band Great Lake Swimmers.
