I’m at that age now where I’m getting more baby shower invites than wedding ones. Ok by me; I don’t mind a good mid-day mimosa and afternoon game of “Baby Bingo.” This past weekend I went to two showers- one for a girl and one for a boy. I sort of think it’s fun to dress the gender when attending one of these baby bashes. For a girl shower I say go super frilly and feminine!

So, I’ve been making fun of my aunt for weeks, because she’s been in these non-stop bidding wars for these various vintage winter swing coats. And she’s become quite successful with her bidding. I think she’s up to about 15 now. And, don’t get me wrong- they’re all absolutely adorable, but we live in Dallas, Texas. The high today is 75 and it’s Feb 18. So, anyway, I’ve never really gotten the whole ebay concept. I know it’s been around forever and it’s a giant success, but the thought of buying someone else’s used crap really didn’t appeal to me. Welllllllll, it didn’t appeal to me until now. I don’t want to admit to too much, but my aunt has me hooked and I may or may not have spent the last 24 hours in a few bidding wars of my own. I’ve decided to create a new series for STB centered around my biggest fashion obsession- ACCESSORIES. Don’t get me wrong- of course- I love all things clothing, but accessories can make or break an outfit. Accessories can change your average LBD into a jaw-dropping moment. I wanted to kick off the series with one of my absolute fave jewelry designers, Suzanna Dai. If I could own every one of her pieces, I would! She is truly an artist, which is why I put her up to the task of taking a classic black dress and EXCESS-ORIZING it into a fabulous show-stopping number! When gathering her picks together, Suzanna told me she was inspired by the opulent baroque trend. I couldn’t agree with her picks more. They really transform the dress, making it perfect for any night out this holiday season!

Though I absolutely love the ballet, for some reason I never think about going until the holiday season hits. And for almost any traditional ballet company in America, the holiday season means many performances of the timeless classic, The Nutcracker. You would think after seeing this show year after year, people would grow tired of it, but it just isn’t the case. It’s become a tradition in many families- a perennial favorite! I’ve probably seen The Nutcracker about a dozen times and with each passing year I love it more and more! If you’re in the Dallas area, you should definitely check for last minute tickets. The Texas Ballet Theater will be performing until December 23^rd!

I’ve been feeling very disconnected these past few days from my old home in NYC. And now, after seeing the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I’m feeling very helpless. So, I did some research online and found many organizations where you can donate. Below are just a few.
