Good Night Everyone( A little Note For Y'all)

Today is almost over, looking forward to a beautiful day ahead.

I dedicated almost the whole day updating my blog, it was fun gathering all the gists i found interesting., and of course what ever my readers would love.

I noticed that i have gotten new followers., shout out to my old and new supporters...u guys Rock.

Whenever i feel like given up, i remember that there is someone out there that looks forward to read my post and that automatically recharges me.

I started blogging in January and i am flabbergasted at how far we've come.

I can't end this short write up without recognizing the people that take out their time to leave a well constructed, beautiful comments on this blog., the likes of Brightino, Jehovanni (she is a new mom), Sazi, Bonario,Willlow,Onakachi, and all my anonymous commenters...u guys are the reason i still do this.

I look forward to read more comments on this blog, feel free to drop a line.,lets have fun.

The other three african nominees are: Joyce Banda, President of Malawi. Dr. James Mwangi, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Equity Bank Limited, Kenya, and Stephen Saad, Co-founder, Aspen Pharmacare.
According to forbes, the award would go to the person who has had the most influence on events in 2012.

Oby Ezekwesili, a former Vice-President (Africa) of the World Bank who retired a few months ago, has expressed devastation at the killing of students in Mubi and Port Harcourt in the past week.
Her press statement:
I am shaken; I am outraged, I am devastated, I feel mortally wounded. The situations in Mubi and Port Harcourt were terrible. Did you see the video-recording of how students were killed in Port Harcourt? Is this not the same country where it is emotionally difficult when you see a corpse on the street?
I am sorry; I am totally outraged like any decent citizen of a nation that we love. The killings were barbaric, mere savagery and very devastating. Some people are acting or behaving as if there are no people in charge of the government. "Something is fundamentally wrong with our society: To see the dastardly mob killing of four misguided youths(Port Harcourt's) who stole sank my optimism. Noo! Even in death, these four must get justice. My voice shall be heard on this. What have we become?

"We used to be better than this. What has psychologically traumatized our people? There is a fundamental problem; there is a breakdown in something that is proudly Nigeria. I cannot believe that our society has got to this level. We are broken, we need to be mended and nobody will mend it other than ourselves
We are getting to the precipice and we need to pull ourselves back. The government has to take full responsibility; it has to be in charge to prevent anarchy. The only way out is for the government to prove that it is really in charge.
We are a nation of 150million people; we are not a small country. If the situation continues like this, we cannot survive a large-scale conflict. It does not do us good to befell into a nation of conflagration.
We have to watch it. A lot of countries that have had genocidal experience started like this.
We have too many problems to descend into a state of anarchy again. How can we all sit and watch impunity.

The seed of honesty(A Must Read)

I noticed that i haven't made a post about Inspirations for a very long time. I decided to post this story that will remind us that it pays to be Honest...Please Read and be blessed!
The seed of honesty:

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different.
He called all the young executives in his company together.
He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose
one of you.”
The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. “I am going to give each one of you a SEED today – one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you
bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.”
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home
and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted
the seed.
Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.
After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the
plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by,
still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn’t have a plant and
he felt like a failure.

Six months went by — still nothing in Jim’s pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.
Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn’t say anything to his colleagues, however… He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil – He so wanted the seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to
the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife Jim told his wife that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be
honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived,
he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful — in all shapes and sizes.
Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,”
said the CEO. “Today one of you will be appointed the next
CEO!”
All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the
Financial Director to bring him to the front.
Jim was terrified. He thought, “The CEO knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed – Jim told
him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, “Behold your next Chief Executive Officer! His name is Jim!”
Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.
“How could he be the new CEO?” the others said.
Then the CEO said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to
take the seed, plant it, water it,and bring it back to me today.But I gave you all boiled seeds;
they were dead – it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.
When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave
you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it.
Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive
Officer!”
* If you plant honesty, you will
reap trust.
* If you plant goodness, you will
reap friends.
* If you plant humility, you will
reap greatness.
* If you plant perseverance, you
will reap contentment.

Nigeria's Oil Production Ends in 41 Years - World Bank

Nigeria's oil reserve will be depleted in 41 years, according to a World Bank Group's twice-yearly analysis of the issues shaping Africa's economic prospects called Africa's pulse.

The report which was presented by the World Bank's chief economist for Africa, Shantayanan Devarajan, yesterday said Nigeria's and Angola's oil reserves will be depleted in 41 and 21 years respectively.

"Nigeria, the largest regional producer, can keep supplying at 2011 levels for another 41 years, while Angola, the second largest producer in the region, has about 21 years remaining at current production levels before its known reserves are depleted.

"Given the size of these reserves, it is likely that the dependence on oil resources in these countries are likely to continue in the near to medium term. Production in newly oil-rich countries such as Ghana and Uganda could also last for several years."

According to the World bank's chief economist, Mineral wealth in African countries including Nigeria don't translate to prosperity because the money accruing from it doesn't pass through the citizens, and the citizens don't see the wealth as theirs.

Medical Minute:HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.

A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating.

The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

I want to thank everyone that was reading my blog while i was away. In case you didn't know , i traveled to Naija for summer. I really had an amazing vacation.It is so fulfilling to know that your family is doing great.

Medical Minute: Warren Buffett Reveals He Has Prostate Cancer (DETAILS)

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, 81, announced today that he has been diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer, but reassured his friends and family that he feels great and it's not life threatening.

Buffet told the Wall Street Journal in a statement:

"I have been diagnosed with stage 1 prostate Cancer but I feel great as if I were in my normal excellent health. My energy level is 100 percent. My doctors and I have decided on a two-month treatment of daily radiation to begin in mid-July. No Incidence of Cancer Elsewhere in Body."

Prostate cancer that has been diagnosed as Stage 1 means it is small in size and has not yet spread to the lymph nodes.

Causes of prostate Cancer in males

The specific cause of prostate cancer in men is unknown. The average age at diagnosis is 70 . But males of any age (usually over 50) are diagnosed with prostate cancer. . Risk factors include too much red meat, high fat diet and not enough fish and vegetables, alcohol, hereditary (a brother or father who was previously diagnosed), medications (steroid injections), and infections caused by STDs or a retrovirus can all increase the risk of prostate cancer.

Cancer begins when normal prostate cells transforms into cancer cells which rapidly multiply in the prostate. Eventually, the multiplying cancer cells enlarge the prostate gland and it begins to push against other organs, causing pain.

Signs (what you see) and Symptoms (what you feel):

Early prostate cancer usually has no signs or symptoms. Symptoms usually occur when the prostate has enlarged to the point that it invades other organs nearby. You might also experience difficulty obtaining an erection and difficulty ejaculating. If the tumor spreads to the bones or lymph glands, there will be pronounced pain at the sites where the cancer has spread.

Other signs and symptoms include:

Delayed or slowed start of urinary stream

Dribbling or leakage of urine, most often after urinating

Slow urinary stream

Straining when urinating, or not being able to empty out all of the urine

Blood in the urine or semen

Bone pain or tenderness, most often in the lower back and pelvic bones (only when the cancer has spread)

If you experience any of these signs and symptoms, consult your physician or health care professional. If you do not have a doctor, go to the emergency room.

Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer in males

A positive diagnosis is confirmed by performing a biopsy of the tumor.

Once the prostate has enlarged, it can be detected easily by a doctor or healthcare professional during a digital rectal examination. During the exam, the doctor will wash his hands and put on gloves. The doctor will insert a lubricated and gloved finger into your rectum and feel the inside.

If the doctor feels a tumor inside your rectum, or an uneven area, he will order tests such as a biopsy of the prostate tumor, and/ or urine tests and blood tests to look for the presence of antigens or proteins which indicates cancer. Your doctor might also order a CT Scan, Ultrasound or a MRI to visualize the tumor.

Treatment

Treatment includes surgery to remove part or all of the prostate, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or hormones. Depending on your age and the size of the tumor, the doctor might elect not to do anything except monitor your blood work to make sure the tumor does not spread.

Medical Minute: Autism

Autism is a disorder of the nerves in the brain that interferes with the signals sent from the brain to other parts of the body. The disorder is marked by poor communication skills and lack of social interaction. Doctors aren’t sure what causes autism.

Signs of autism begin in babies before they are 12 months old. Most children are diagnosed with autism by age 2 or 3. That’s the age when parents become aware that their toddlers’ communications skills aren’t keeping pace with other toddlers their age.

Autistic children tend to play apart from other kids. They can spend a great deal of time performing repetitive motions like stacking and un-stacking or lining up objects such as in the photo above.

Other behavioral signs include walking on their tiptoes (toe walking), flapping their arms, sitting and spinning, rolling their heads and/or rocking back and forth.

Some autistic children show normal cognitive growth and development from birth until the age of 3 or 4 when they begin to regress, eventually losing their communications skills altogether. Other children who are diagnosed with autism as toddlers grow up to lead normal lives and show no outward signs of the disorder.

Below is a table that shows the early signs of autism in children. Children’s behavior patterns may differ from the chart below.

Management and treatment for autism include behavioral, occupational and speech therapy, and other therapies including applied behaviour analysis (ABA), and structured teaching.

Medications may be prescribed to control the symptoms of autism such as antidepressants for anxiety or depression, and antipsychotic drugs to control aggressive behaviors.

Medical Minute:Congolese Bolton Footballer Fabrice Muamba collapses on the field during FA Cup Quarter Final Match{Video}

Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder, fell to the ground suddenly - 41 minutes into the game against Tottenham Hotspur, at White Hart Lane, which was on live television.

No other players were near him at the time.

The match was abandoned as both teams’ doctors spent ten minutes treating him on the pitch in front of around 35,000 fans.

Muamba, 23, was taken to the Heart Attack Centre at the London Chest Hospital. In a statement, his club said he is in a critically ill condition in intensive care.

Reporters at the game said he was not breathing as he was stretchered off the pitch and into an ambulance.

Christmas in Arochukwu is always more of a cultural celebration than a religious one. The ancient kingdom each December attracts indigenes and visitors who are treated to an eye popping traditional display and unadulterated culture, as each of the 19 villages and different age grades on pre-specified days take turns to display the rich cultural repertoire of the Aros. I hardly miss the youthfulness of the Ekpo(masquerades),that's the Most exciting part of the holidays! The hospitality and exciting nature of Arochukwu made it fun for me and my siblings to visit.

The hospitality of the people of Aro is the envy of many,and i am indeed proud that my Momma is from there...continue to see pictures of the Masquerades that makes every seasonal period worthwhile

Nick Cannon is ready to talk about his severe health problems ... as well as why he was hospitalized two months ago for kidney failure.

Mariah Carey's 31-year-old hubby tells People:

"The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because ... I've known people who have passed away from that. I thought I was getting better and then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere."
