The aim of this release is supporting sonarQube-4.1.

[sonar-announce] SonarQube C++ Community Plugin is moving out of Codehaus

Hello Users & Devs,

I've something to announce: The SonarQube C++ plugin (Community ) won't
be hosted on the SonarSource's Forge in the future. The reasons are the
following:

1. One of the rules, which plugins hosted on the Forge must obey, is:

"do not compete with existing SonarSource products (sorry, but we
gotta pay the bills somehow)"

The Community Plugin violates this rule since the addition of the
commercial C++ plugin.

2. You may have noticed the amount of confusion on the user (and partly
on the dev ML's regarding the C++ plugins and according support. By
('spatially') separating both implementation we hope to reduce the
amount of confusion and the support related load on the guys from
SonarSource.

What does change and what does not?
===================================

The following points summarize our plan how to deal with this situation.
Not all is done yet; if you can suggest an [improvement / a better
alternative] please do.

1. The sources will still be hosted on GitHub, as one of my (wenns)
repositories, the link:

https://github.com/wenns/sonar-cxx

2. The documentation will move from SonarSource's Confluence to GitHubs
Wiki. Link:

https://github.com/wenns/sonar-cxx/wiki

3. The issue tracking will be done on GitHub, too. In order to reduce
the migration effort, I've (manually) migrated the open issues
from Jira and those who have been closes in the last release. I
intend to drop all the others. If this is a problem for someone,
please speak up (and take over the effort, maybe).

4. Discussions / Mailing List: The current plan is to use GitHub issues
which are labeled as 'question'. That way we have it all in one place
and do not care about an dedicated ML.

5. CI: Will be done on Cloudbees using a free account. We have 300 build
minutes free per month, that should suffice for running the builds
and the unit tests.

6. Public Sonar Instance (replacement for Nemo): No idea, currently.

7. Installation: The plugin won't be available in the Update Center
anymore. The installation will be manual, by copying the jar archive
into extensions/plugins-Directory.

8. Contribution: A GitHub based workflow like:

"Open a 'question' or 'discussion' issue -> Discuss a solution ->
Fork, implement -> Request a poll"

should do. We should dedicate a small Wiki page to this.

From now on, the plugin releases will no longer be announced on the community mailing lists. To keep being notified, just subscribe to the feed at http://www.sonarsource.com/category/plugins-news/.

The main reason behind this move is to not have to post the announces on several places and spend this time to work on delivering valuable features instead.

The SonarQube Team is pleased to announce the release of the Java Ecosystem version 1.4.
This new version:

Adds 78 new rules implemented with the SonarQube engine. We believe that these new rules are more accurate (fewer false positives and false negatives) and better documented (detailed explanations, code snippets) than their equivalent in Checkstyle, PMD or FindBugs. We encourage you to switch to these new rules. Your feedback is more than welcome. 174 rules from Checkstyle, PMD and FindBugs are now deprecated.
Make the Cobertura plugin an independent plugin such as Emma or Clover.

Releases of SonarQube 3.7 and 3.6.3

Hello,

Two versions have been released today.

The patch 3.6.3 fixes an error when upgrading to 3.6.2. You don't have to install it if you succeeded in upgrading to 3.6.2 or if you upgrade to 3.7.

The release 3.7 brings the following new features:

Bulk change of issues: assign, comment, plan and/or flag as false-positive several issues at the time.
Bulk change of project permissions, with the introduction of the concept of "permission templates"
Ability to save, edit and delete issue filters
System administrators can edit dashboards, issue or measure filters shared by other users
Display the author of an issue. Requires to Developer Cockpit Plugin to be installed.
Support of Maven 3.1. Note that Maven 2.0 and 2.1 are not supported anymore.
The property "sonar.password" can be encrypted
Fix memory issues when connecting to Oracle database
Compatibility of the Build Breaker plugin with the Dry Run mode
