It was the feature I most enjoyed drawing!

I finally finished the individual features studied on the first week of my portraiture course with Cindy Wider. I struggled so much to find some "pyjama time" - as Cindy would say - for my art. But here it is. The ear!

This week I am hosting the drawing challenge at Drawspace.com, and this is my contribution. It was inspired by a photo I have taken, during my holidays, in Guimarães, North of Portugal. It was the first time I tried my new set of watercolor pencils and it was indeed exciting!! I know the paper was not the most appropriate one (just a 150 gr. drawing paper) but was anyhow suited to give me some

Hello dear friends and followers! After a great 3 week family vacation, and no time for drawing, here I am again promising you new drawings in the following days...Regards to all!Sonia.

This is a quick sketch made with soft pastels (sticks) for a weekly challenge on Drawspace.com.I just could not resist the bright colors of the reference picture!...

Here is the last shading exercise submitted to Cindy wider for the art course I am taking. The goal was to shade this drawing according to the theory of light and shadow.

Hello, my dear friends! This is one more shading exercise for Cindy Wider´s online art course. We are studying drapery this week and, although I am using now an extra dark and extra soft brand of pencils that gave me some nice headakes (;p), I am finally happy with the result! I hope the teacher will feel the same way! :D

Soniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05584132537817034947noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5736806680983979967.post-63246238513004252742009-05-31T18:19:00.001-07:002009-06-16T02:30:54.858-07:00

Do you want some tea? :)I honestly thought I would not be able to complete this shading exercise for Cindy Wider´s online course! "No way!" I though... But, voilá! Here it is with my best effort! It´s incredible how, during the drawing and shading process, I always doubt myself. But then, I just go ahead with it putting aside all the negative thoughts and I just can´t believe my eyes when I look

Soniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05584132537817034947noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5736806680983979967.post-82130146529898660102009-05-21T20:15:00.001-07:002010-02-10T23:47:42.407-08:00

I am just thrilled with my latest drawing!! I know it is not a master piece but for me it has a special meaning since I have really struggled to be able to draw a more realistic portrait! I know I owe this result to my teacher, Cindy Wider, although this is not an exercise for the art course and I haven´t had yet portraiture, but I have used here some of the lessons taken so far!... This was

A friend of mine just helped me to give a whiter look to the photo I have taken of my exercise! :)There... doesn´t it look better?

Soniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05584132537817034947noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5736806680983979967.post-81023384815164161252009-04-14T00:18:00.001-07:002009-06-16T02:27:49.190-07:00

My last project for Cindy Wider´s online Course. This is just an exercise, not a creation of mine.We were supposed to do the outline drawing with the help of a grid, transfer the drawing to quality paper and then apply all the 6 different pencil strokes we have just learned! Its yellowish color is defect of the photo... The drawing (on a A3 paper) did not fit into the scanner! :p
