For those of you who saw the fun teaser trailer last Friday on www.mediamolecule.com, you know that the Team ICO pack is hitting the store this week. A set of five costumes, plus some stickers and sound effects, all based on Team ICO’s classic and widely loved PlayStation games ICO, and Shadow of the Colossus.

Over the course of the week Media Molecule revealed the costumes, and took a closer look at the games that they came from. You can read each individual post and look at the costumes in more detail over on the Media Molecule blog.

LBP at E3 2009

LBP was well represented at E3 this year. LittleBigPlanet PSP made a sweet debut on the PSPgo and was playable for the first time at the show earning great impressions and award nominations from both IGN and 1UP! As many of you know this title will offer the complete LBP Experience, now letting people Play, Create, and Share on the go and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s looking amazing on the PSP. If you didn’t see the trailer yet, here you go:

Also, popular creators from the LBP Community, Lucas Sparks (LittleBigDeadSpace) and David Dino (Azure Palace) took booth visitors through awesome user-generated LBP levels on the show floor and got to rub elbows with some familiar faces. If you haven’t played their levels yet, you are definitely missing out.

Sackcast is a new community podcast, and they released their first episode last week. At the start of last week we received an email from a very proud father. His Son Ben had been tasked with decorating his house as part of a town Gala. He chose to decorate his house LittleBigPlanet style – check it out! Ben will be crowned for his creative efforts, we should probably get him to come and decorate our office.

We are kicking off the week with some fun news bytes as well as introducing a great new program we are launching this week called “the patch”. Great week to all!

LBP Originals on THE PATCH

As most of you know, we’ve been spending the past few months touring and showing LittleBigPlanet at various promotional events. We’ve had the pleasure to meet a wide variety of great personalities from artists, to athletes, to musicians and allowed them to get their hands on LBP Create tools. Some provided great inspiration, some were extremely hands on, and in the end we came up with some great creations together, levels that in one way or another say something about what they are about. This Friday, you’ll be able to go online in LittleBigPlanet and check out a new hot spot destination on called “the patch”.

On “the patch” you’ll find LBP Original levels created by inspiring individuals and interesting personalities. For our first showcase, we are spotlighting Joe Vaux, Sarah Burke, and Nathan Cabrera. Throughout the week, you’ll hear from several of them and their own experiences creating their LBP Original, so stay tuned the rest of the week and find out what other personalities you’ll find on “the patch”.

Some people were confused about how to access the new creator pack content once it was installed, so Mm made a video showing the sweet in-game tutorials made for the new objects. (The Infinite-Life Checkpoint tutorial is just ruthless!) Remember that Creator Pack 1 can be downloaded for FREE from the in-game store, right now! Once downloaded, you can play the following levels by going to the LittleBigStore and finding the creator pack queen icon.

LittleBigPlanet Content For April

It's that time again! Here's the scheduled release dates for additional LittleBigPlanet content for the rest of this month and the start of May.

Those of you who keep an eye on these updates will notice that the Heavenly Sword mini-pack has moved back by two weeks, however in its place is the extremely cool Rag Doll Kung Fu costume pack which now launches on the same day as the game comes to the PlayStation Network Store.

The big news for April however is that the 1.12 "Cornish Yarg" update is being released which provides some new features along with some fixes to problems reported by the community. Also included in this update is Creator Pack 1 which contains some very cool new devices, gizmos and tools to help you build your levels. Should the date for the release of the Cornish Yarg update change we'll inform you ahead of time, but right now it's looking good to go for April 16th!

LittleBigChallenge: The Golf Course Challenge

To celebrate the release of SackBoy in Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds we're putting together the first official LittleBigPlanet golf course where each hole is designed and created by the LBP community.

The best 9 holes and a driving range from North America and the most popular 9 holes and club house from Europe will be form the Official LittleBigPlanet Golf course. So not only can you win individual glory at having your hole selected, but your creation will forever be part of this course!

Every winning entry will be awarded a LittleBigPlanet prize crown, so start drafting up your designs and switch to create mode! The Challenge has officially begun!

How to take part

To enter simply create and publish your hole or Driving Range in LittleBigPlanet before midnight on April 14 2009 (PST). What makes a good hole? That's entirely up to you - think Hot Shots Golf, think LittleBigPlanet, mash the two together and see what you can come up with.

So that we can easily identify entries and if you live in the US or Canada you are going to name your level in a specific way-

"LBPGolfNA" for US entries and or “LBPGolfCA” for Canadian entries

You can then follow this name by either “Driving Range” or “Par 3, 4, 5” etc, depending on how long or difficult your level is.

For example:

“LBPGolfCA- Par 4” is a moderately difficult, average length hole from a Canadian Creator.
“LBPGolfNA- Driving Range” Driving Range from US Creator.

(Note- Driving Range levels are limited to the US for this Challenge.)

We’ll then have a two week voting period from Tuesday April 14th to Monday April 27th where you can play, vote and “heart” your favorite golf levels. Media Molecule will select the 9 winning holes and driving range for North America from eligible levels that get the best ratings during this time.

Today's post is going to get chessy....or Cornish Yarg-y, the code name for the 1.12 LBP game update. Check out some of the new things to expect with the update plus some other bits and pieces!

CORNISH YARG (aka 1.12 game update)
We don't yet have a fixed release date for this update, but it has now finished primary development so won't be too much longer. Additional fixes, particularly for online connection reliability and save game/profile size problems are already well into development and we'll bring you more news on that just as soon as possible.

This update addresses several outstanding issues with the game :

There is a new music player which lets player’s choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod
Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customize your Sackboy

New options to help prevent profiles becoming full of unwanted community objects:

Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos
Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos
A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors
We now support Japanese and Korean IME for text chat.
Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels)
The player proximity switch now has a ‘require all’ option in it
An option has been added to cycle between various level information when viewing community levels on the earth
Various LittleBigStore improvements
