I believe that Gingrich is the only "True Conservative", running. I also
believe he is the only Republican that not only the Democrats, and the
Republican "old guard", is worried about. He's always been, anti establishment,
that will change, for the better, the "destructive" direction, that Obama and
his cronies, are taking our Great Country.
God Bless America, and God Bless our Troops.

Kate--
Thanks for your comment and your thought about a different way to write the question. I think the question is not whether state workers should or should not have the choice, but whether voters want their government processing the dues on behalf of a public employee association. I would love to have the choice of paying my state taxes with a credit card, for example, but that's not my decision. The voters should decide what procedures THEIR government provides and how it functions.

Again, thanks for your comment!

So....do you think the responses would have been different if you had asked a question about employees instead of "state government"?

For instance, a more straightforward way of asking this would have been, "State workers can choose to have their association dues deducted from their paychecks. Do you support or oppose this?"

But...that might have just gotten you a lot of quizzical looks...like, "why in the world are you asking that???"

Nobody from the Sooner Poll contacted me. I'm sure I'm flagged as a Ron Paul supporter. I wasn't allowed to volunteer anymore at the GOP after they found out, but it didn't stop them from asking for money to go to their favorite candidate.

I am most concerned for social security programs. I know the government says it is going broke but I say there needs to be more laws pass, to make sure this program stays in tact.

Gene--
We appreciate your comments and link to your analysis. Thanks for sharing. Your unsubstantiated remark of our surveys having 'questionable reliability' is rather unbecoming of a well respected thinktank such as the Oklahoma Policy Institute, however. If you have any information to support this imprudent claim, please share it.

Why a federal Balanced Budget Amendment will never happen, and why that’s a good thing

As part of the agreement to raise the federal debt ceiling, Congress will vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment this fall. Every Republican Senator has endorsed it. So have many Oklahoma state legislators. SoonerPoll claims the amendment has widespread support among Oklahomans (though their surveys have questionable reliability).

So what’s the problem with a Balanced Budget Amendment?

Erin--
We do not stratify our polling samples to census data, but to match the demographic profile of likely voters, which is what the sample is for the poll. Here is a link that addresses some of your comments: http://soonerpoll.com/who-votes-and-who-doesnt/
